Went here with a group of friends for the first time and really liked the concept - it's cool being able to try different Asian dishes all in one spot! It was a bit of a wait for sushi since several other tables also ordered it, but totally understandable given there was only 1 person preparing the sushi. Only downside was that they didn't have any dessert available when we went!

I stopped coming to SAGA Kitchen because they served frozen dim sum. Yes, I get you don't have a dim sum cook and prices are higher now. But customers want value for their money, and there's plenty of choices out there. The last time I ordered the potstickers, I got shriveled up dumplings that looked like small gyoza. So don't believe the old pictures Yelpers posted, those days are gone. Time to move on.

Loved this place! Not sure why it's only 3.8. There's so many pros: - eat combination of Japanese and Chinese food, huge menu - [[HIGHLIGHT]]dog friendly, even indoor![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - free dog treats - free saga arcade game - free choice of music - [[HIGHLIGHT]]cute decor/ambiance[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - good service (gave us extra seaweed for free) - easy online ordering We got the treasure box, negi toro roll, XLB, miso soup and salted egg yolk bun. My favorites were the negi toro roll and the salted egg yolk bun, so good! Would definitely come back and try other things. Thanks SAGA kitchen for a fun and unique dinner experience!

As a big shrimp enjoyer, I wasn't expecting much out of their shrimp dumplings, but they were delicious! When I went, there was only one guy running the whole thing, but he was super friendly and our food came out in under ten minutes! [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the whole place was just so nice. It was like looking at what I wanted my bedroom to look like in the future![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 5/5!

Was craving dim-sum and wanted to try a new place out. This is to go order. I ordered the following items that I have had and enjoyed at other establishments. - Siu Mai - I was very surprised that for $10 you got the small amount you did. It was very strong on the shrimp/fishy flavor. - Chili Oil Dumpling - good size with a good amount of filling. Issue for me was that you could only taste the chili oil and nothing else - Egg Drop Soup - I appreciate that for the price $10 you got a very good amount of soup that has good flavor - House made XLB (with wine sauce) - good flavor and most likely the only item I would order again Overall I would not most likely not return. Based on the reviews there are plenty of people that enjoy the food and establishment, however with how expensive dim sum can be I want to enjoy my food and feel that it was worth the cost. From my one time experience here overall the food did not have flavor.

Half of the inside the seaweed is just more rice. This is lion king roll, tastes ok

It didn't feel like a restaurant that I was expecting, it was more like a food snack shop which is fine. The food I ordered tasted fine nothing that would make me say I'm excited to order again. We ordered lion king and it was warm, not hot. It tastes more on the sweet side. It's packed very tight so we had a little trouble getting it out to share and dropped a piece, that's on us but just a heads up it's secured in place. What we really didn't like was as how all the rolls were primarily just rice. We understand the outter park is rice and no biggie there, it's the inner part we were most disappointed about. It's more rice and it takes up about 1/2 of the whole inner part. We thought it was just a few pieces but every single piece was mostly just rice. My pic shows how much rice you're paying for in an average roll. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is fine and in a local area so it's walkable, street parking in front is not easy but when you turn the corner there's parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Personally, we don't plan on returning soon but recommend it to visitors or teenagers just looking for a safe tasting snack.

I enjoy it. My brother likes this place for his Tonkotsu ramen. I've had some of their sushi rolls and other smaller dishes. Tonkotsu ramen Miso soup Golden dragon sushi roll. Tonkotsu ramen has great presentation. The Naruto is there. Miso was nice and comforting. The flavour is alive with flavour. The golden dragon was savoury. Enjoyed the Japanese bbq and the mixture of avocado and protein. Vibe is nice. Very hip and contemporary. The robot is fun. Would be nice to have a television from the lounge area or a mirror. It's a bit pricey, but from time to time it's nice to come here. Service is on and off but at this place it's fine. Everything went smooth. Water and one time cups are provided.

Never ever coming here again as an Alameda resident. My husband and I were the only 2 people in the entire restaurant, it took HELLLAAA long to get our order. Not once asked if we needed anything. Once we got our food the waiter basically slammed it on the table and left. Never asked if we needed Jack shit. Is customer service out the door now???? All they did the entire time we were there was talk. Oh but they said bye on the way out tho. SMH.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute location but service was very poor and food was either great or the worst.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] QR code ordering didn't work for us because we wanted to order 4 tonkatsu ramen without the combo gyoza which the site wouldn't let us do. We went to order in person from the first room there were two workers at the front but the lady didn't speak English ( is fine for us we speak Cantonese) and didn't know how to take orders or work the online site. Waiting maybe 5-10 minutes for the guy worker to get off the phone while we stood waiting in front of the register without much acknowledgement. When we went to order we wanted the sando spicy chicken slider combo and the Nikutama udon but he told both were no longer served and the paper menu is not accurate and the true menu is on the site. Tonkatsu ramen Chewy noodles tasty egg and a creamy not too salty broth. 8.5/10 Kistune udon 1/10 Worst udon I've ever tasted. Have no idea what happened. The broth was watery and maybe had a pinch of miso. The noodles were soaked for too long and were breaking apart and mushy(look at my picture). I think the noodles have been soaking in this watery miso started tinting lightly brown and fermenting the taste. The noodles taste very strange and weird. Added with the broth was extremely shocking. 1/10 Tonkatsu sando Great sandwich crispy crustless bread moist crispy fried chicken and a nice mayo sauce. 8.9/10

Love the concept of this restaurant! SAGA Kitchen houses a handful of different Asian restaurants in their "food hall". (I quote food hall here because you'll order from all the different restaurants once vs going to different registers). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself takes over two spaces next door to each other. The first has many tables, the bathroom, the kitchen, and the register. The second is just community dining tables and a condiment counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, that second room is also dog-friendly. I feel like I hardly ever see indoor dog-friendly restaurant spaces so this was a treat![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Both are connected by the outdoor patio up front. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't busy so we were able to find a table with our dog in the second room pretty easily.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered from a QR code on the table and got to see the menus of all the restaurants. Food came out quickly after and we could pay for everything online too, so it was a pretty seamless process. We ordered from Yue Club and had their Hong Kong Har Gow ($10) and House Made XLB ($12). Each order came with 6 pieces. Both nailed the flavors - everything was so tasty. Probably one of the better dim sums I've had in the area. The dumplings themselves were smaller than I've usually had though. I don't think I'd normally want to pay this kind of price for the portion-size but I could taste the quality for sure! The staff was super accommodating and even gave us water for our dog. They also have dog treats in the 2nd room so it's truly a dog-friendly location! Parking is available on the street and in the nearby neighborhoods. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Alameda!

    Kurobuta Katsu Sando ()

Like the other reviews have stated, this place is more of an Asian food hall than your typical restaurant. You order and pay for your food using the QR code and the robot brings the food to you. Utensils and sauces are self serve. Found this place on tik tok and was drawn in by the variety of food options and aesthetics of the place, but I was pretty disappointed by the food. What we ordered: Crab Cream Croquette (3/5) - All I tasted was the cream filling and I couldn't taste the any crab in here at all. It wasn't bad, but I would prefer less cream and more crab. Chicken Karaage App (3/5) - You can't really go wrong with this dish but I wish it was a bit crunchier on the outside. Other than that, this is just your typical karaage. Shanghai Pan Fried Bun (1/5) - I was the most disappointed by this dish because it's one of my favorite dishes but also the worst pan fried bun I've ever had. I don't know if they even fried it because the whole bun was soft and there wasn't any soup inside. This was basically just your regular bun with some meat inside. Kurobuta Katsu Sando (5/5) - This was my favorite dish out of everything we ordered. The katsu was tender and the bread was nice and soft with slightly toasted edges. Also felt that the slaw and sauce paired very well together. If you're gonna order one item from here, order this! Treasure Box (3/5) - I liked how big the sashimi pieces were but the fish didn't taste that fresh to me. Not bad, but could be better. Special Kaisen Don (3/5) - Same as the treasure box, the fish was not bad, but I wish it was more fresh. Overall, this place is aesthetic and offers a variety of different food options on their menu which is nice, but I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for good, quality food. Also if you're looking for good service, that's basically nonexistent here lol

Multiple cravings for different type of asian food? No problem, go to SAGA! I was meeting a friend here and it is rare for me to be in this area so why not pick a random spot to meet up and have lunch?! There is not private lot and only street parking. Nothing really too hard as residential parking is easy to find and a 1-2min walk from the restaurant. We arrive the time the place opens so there was hardly customers but there was still quite a few people going in and out. Outdoor seating also available but not for large groups. There is two sit down areas, one being the main spot and the one right next door. I wouldn't recommend a group more than 4 since the space inside didn't look like it had a big enough table for more than 4 people. You order through QR scans on the table. One QR scan per table which means your group cannot look at the menu or order separately. One tab per table. Doesn't look like there is an option to split pay. You can only pay on the app/QR scan. If you're paying with cash, you pay up front. The food is brought out by the robot servers. I am getting use to that. We ordered the dim sum set meal, treasure box, and one shrimp tempura roll. The dim sum set meal and treasure box is pretty solid. I highly recommend. The shrimp tempura roll wasn't as exciting. Since this place is more like a self service spot, sauces and utensils can be found next to the register. I had to ask for plates though. I would definitely come back when I am in the area.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had on the island…read more I was shuffled between at least five different employees just to get seated, place an order, get a drink, and finally receive my food. I was dining alone and ordered only shrimp dumplings and a glass of Chardonnay, yet the wait was excessive. The wine arrived in what looked like a tasting-sized pour, and at $16 a glass, it felt particularly disappointing--especially since it was the only white wine option available. The restaurant itself felt neglected. The tables were wobbly, the décor was dated, there was a noticeable cigarette smell, and I even had to replace my own chopsticks after noticing lipstick on the pair initially provided. After waiting so long for my food, I stood up to ask for my check and cancel the order. At that point, the dumplings suddenly appeared, along with an offer of a fried bun as compensation. I declined and suggested they at least comp the wine given the experience, but they did not. The final bill was nearly $30 for a mediocre glass of wine and shrimp dumplings that were undercooked and unappetizing enough that I threw them away after a few bites. If you're looking for a quick meal before a movie, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. This was a disappointing waste of both time and money.

Parking is available in their private lot, which is a huge plus.

I stopped by Tao Yuen Pastry while visiting family in Oakland. I haven't been to the Chinatown area…read morein a few years and definitely wanted to hit them up for so good food and my first stop was here. The food is ready made in house and there is a wide selection from fried rice, dim sum, chow mein, stuffed rice noodles, fried chicken, baked and steamed pork buns and so much more. The customer service isn't great as they want to get you in and out as quickly as possible so know what you want to get. There is no dining whatsoever at this establishment just order and go. The inside is your basic hole in the wall. I ordered jumbo shrimp rice noodles, garlic shrimp rice noodles a dozen bbq pork buns, fried chicken, and mixed seafood dim sum. They are very generous with the portion size and certain item are by weight versus set price.

Stopped in to pickup some bites. Got a "small" clamshell container of salt & pepper shrimp, 1 fried…read moresesame mochi ball with red bean filling, and 2 steamed chive & meat dumplings. Total was about $24. The shrimp were huge and very tasty. I recommend you eat them right away so they don't get soggy in the unvented container. Even though the container is small (about the size of a pint), they really load up and fill it. I think they fit more than a pound of shrimp in there for me. Hence why it contributed to my surprising total cost coming out to be $24 for this + only 3 other single items I got. Their steamed dumplings are also about 25% larger than your typical dim sum dumpling. I tried the round and crescent moon shaped ones. Both had a good ratio of filling, the dumpling skin was not too chewy, and tasted pretty good too. The fried sesame ball was also sizable, but really doughy and not my favorite. Had a thick mochi skin, compared to the red bean filling inside. It was pretty crowded on a weekday at 10:30am but the line moved quick. Also this is CASH ONLY payment.

Definitely very filling. Chicken is very tender and juicy. Don't be afraid of the pink or red in the bone, it's myoglobin and still safe to eat. Roast Duck 4.5/5 It's nicely roasted, tender and juicy. The sauce is very flavorful and tasty. Ambience 4/5 Very quick and casual small dining area. It does get loud when packed but that is just the nature of chinatown. Also means the food is very good. Staff 4/5 Very friendly but because they are hustling around too much it's a little hard to get their attention.

When we first walked in, no other diners were there which made me a little suspicious. We were promptly seated and offered hot tea though so we were locked in. I initially ordered to seafood claypot but was told it takes 45 minutes...so pivoted to chicken wonton soup (no noodles). My partner got kung pao chicken. while we waited for our food, a handful of people came in to pick up their to go orders, which made me feel better. Another party eventually dined in as well. Fyi the interior isn't much to write home about but comfortable. Then the food came. My soup was freaking delicious! Loads of chicken meat (just chopped up with the bones so be careful for shards), plenty of dumplings, and the broth was sooo good! I couldn't finish and took some left overs home; the next day, my soup coagulated (full of collagen)!! Partner enjoyed their kung Pao chicken but said they'd order something else next time. Best part - our meals + tax came out to less than $40! Gawd I love Chinatown!
