With such variety, there's definitely something for everyone! - Omakase Set - Salted Egg Yolk Bun - Kurobuta Tonkatsu Sando We arrived during lunchtime on a weekend and it wasn't too busy that particular day. Upon arrival, we were greeted and prompted to order at the counter from a selection of several menus. As a food hall, they feature the food of different concepts. The ones we tried came from Sachi Sushi, Yue Club Dim Sum, and Koharu Japanese Cafe. We started off with the salted egg yolk buns. These buns are beautiful. Golden yellow salted egg yolk lava that oozes out of a black bao is both aesthetically pleasing and delicious. The lava was warm and a bit grainy in texture which we enjoyed a lot. Up next was the tonkatsu sando. The milk bread was so soft yet contrasted perfectly with the crispy tonkatsu; the pork was also super juicy! We finished off with the omakase set which was beautifully presented. Every piece of fish tasted fresh and the uni was also very good. I think my only critique would be that it would have been cool to know each fish we were being served (were had the set delivered to a table so it wasn't counter-style like normal omakase) but we also probably could have asked as well. Something different in Alameda my hometown when I was young. Found this place and decided to take my family here for lunch on my bday a couple months ago. I like going to different places and thought to try this place to see if there was anything special here. No private parking but street parking. We were the first to arrive for lunch. You have to pay first before seating. The right of the restaurant was the dining area. When some of our meal was ready, a robot brought our food and even greeted happy birthday to me! Very cute! I like the warm decor especially the lighted plant chandeliers. I want one! Service was great! Staff was friendly and willing to make suggestions since we were new to the place. We ordered some sushi and ramen. Sushi was pretty fresh and good. Ramen was filling but nothing spicy. I wish they had some peppers to add to the broth. Karaage chicken was good and outside crunchy but a little too much breading. Garlic chicken teriyaki was pretty good. There was more to try but not enough people to order and taste! I decided to try SAGA kitchen when they had a discount deal going on. They're located in Downtown Alameda so parking was a bit tricky, but ordering online and picking up was a quick process. Besides selling food, they also sell hipster T-shirts and sweatshirts from brands like Bape and Takashi Murakami, if you're into that. I got the kurobuta tonkatsu bento, a beef katsu sando, and a shumai. The shumai tastes alright, not the best I've had but they included a big piece of shrimp in it. The bento includes a miso soup and was quite expensive for the amount of food it was. The most disappointing dish was the sando. The beef was extremely fatty (as you can see from the pic) and didn't look or taste like New York strip. For almost $19, it was definitely not worth it. Overall, the food here is pretty overpriced for the portions and quality. There's a lot of hype since it's a cloud kitchen and they cater to the Instagram audience, but I would say try elsewhere for better food. read more

Hip spot in Alameda! You can order multiple kind of dishes in one go on their Saga App! The Slurp Shop is new and they are a must try! Their soft boil egg are all the way from Japan therefore the orange yolk instead of the regular yellow yolk. The soup broth for my Meyer Lemon ramen is light yet flavorful (not oily at all which is why I love it!) I highly recommend it! The treasure box and Omakase are good as usual but this time they use a delivery robot to deliver the food which makes it extra cool (my kid was so surprised and happy)! Dope spot, and it's away from the Main Street. Parking was easy to find. It was mostly street and residential parking. This place is like a Asian micro food hall. From dim sum to ramen to sushi. About 4 restaurants in one establishment. You order on a QR code on a table and food just come to you. Be prepared to wait a bit and also ask for two pitchers or water if you sit im at their next door dinning area. Servers come check time to time but not as much as I would like. After a less than enjoyable boba run, I decided to stop by SAGA for a kurobuta sando. I had been craving one for a while, and I had been here before and really liked it. So it just wasn't my day I guess... Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it like the last time. It was quite a let down. My daughter thought the same. So first I was told 15 minutes but it took 30. Apparently the pot stickers were the hold up, and honestly they weren't worth the wait. I mean, they weren't bad, but they weren't anything special either. So while waiting for the pot stickers to be done, the sando was already packed. So the sando was already a little soggy and the katsu wasn't as crispy. I'm honestly really disappointed with my experience here. Hubby and I decided to come here to order food for Christmas Eve. The person who took our order was very nice and he did tell us it would be a bit of a wait, which we didn't mind, since he had a few phone orders ahead of us. We ordered a few sushi rolls and some dim sum. I was honestly looking forward to this eating at this restaurant but came to be so disappointed. When we got home with the food, it was cold, not flavorful, the sushi roll rice was a bit hard with no flavor. We ordered the Lion King and the White Tiger and they were NOT baked at all. The salmon on the Lion King was still raw, which shouldn't have been. I had ordered some potstickers too, which should've still been crispy even with our drive home, but when I opened it, it was soggy. I saw great reviews for this place and was so sad I wasted my money on cold, tasteless food. Maybe we would've had a better experience eating there instead? The ghost kitchen concept is super interesting and I'm actually glad they're experimenting with it! 3.5 stars rating I came here the first 2 times for a Yelp elite event, but then we came back one more time. Surprisingly, it wasn't the food that brought us back, but the boba (I remember the worker Harry taking the time to explain the Tea experience concept and being super into it - love the enthusiasm). Recently, it's the discount on the app that is bringing me back. the treasure box from sachi sushi is probably the best in my opinion. However, I don't think I would pay more than $30 for it because of the portion size. However, the fish is definitely delicious and melts in your mouth - super great quality. I didn't love the food from the other concepts - but to each her own right? We ordered the treasure box on their app & stopped by for the Yelp elite event. The treasure box had layers of variety of fish and a bed of rice under. It was good! We did not realize that there was nori (seaweed square wraps) under it until we ate half of the box. Definitely wrap it in the nori! It added a satisfying crunch and texture. Macarons were very good. The filling was creamy and not stiff like premade frozen macarons. Both the sesame and rose flavored macarons had a nice aromatic flavor to it. Bento box: a delicious sample of what they have at the store! The egg looked so good...and tasted good too with the rice and salmon. Came here during Yelp elite week and bought a sashimi box that was not only beautiful in its presentation, but tasty as well. Each sashimi piece was neatly placed and organized on top of rice. Returning a week later and the quality/presentation of the box waned. It looked like the sashimi was hastily sliced and thrown together to fulfill an order. And no rice? While the taste did not suffer much, the experience was much different and the box did not deserve the $29 that it was priced at. Maybe it was a different chef, maybe the chef had an off day... wait, did we even get the same box? Whatever the reason may be, this left a sour taste in our mouths and we contemplated if we should return again. Given how great this place was the first time, I give 4 stars for now. The way Asian food was meant to taste. I was really impressed by this combination kitchen. SAGA is a combination of four different mini kitchens - Japanese quick service, Japanese sushi, Chinese dishes and Dim Sum. This time around we tried the Chinese side of things and it was so good. Just as a FYI, the sushi place is only open Thurs-Sun while the other places have better hours. FOOD: Loved it! Everything tasted freshly made (because it was) and there were some interesting flavor profile choices made. The orange chicken was not spicy at all - more on the sweet side, but not too orange-y. Really delicious. The Mongolian beef was tender instead of chewy as many Mongolian beef dishes tend to be. There was a good balance between veggies and beef. I wish it were more spicy and maybe have those little mai fun noodles? But I can't fault the quality at ALL! Loved the dim sum we tried. We had the black truffle shu mai which was flavorful, moist, without being too much. A great flavor explosion in the mouth. The pan fried Shanghai buns were delicious. A little more like cha siu bao than pan fried buns we had when we were actually in Shanghai, but I really liked them nonetheless. Just a little more doughy. Highly recommend everything we tried. SERVICE: GREAT! They were super nice and everything was packaged so well. Because everything is cooked fresh it does take longer and when I went it did start getting backed up. But the food was worth it. One thing, the ordering system didn't work well. Three of the four restaurants all use different ordering systems which makes it harder. COST: Pretty reasonable for what you get. We'll definitely go back and try even more of the good food. Each place has a limited menu, but surprisingly it's all good and done right! Inside houses 4 Cloud Restaurants -- Sachi (Sushi), Koharu (Japanese Cafe), Yue Club (Dim Sum), Wok Chi (Chinese) -- plus a new Tea place and a gift shop. I'll focus on the non-Yelp Elite Event details in this review. While waiting, I ordered a Fruit + Tea drink -- Grapefruit Green Tea. The staff on duty were friendly and engaging as I waited for my drink and Yelp goodies. Soon my drink was ready. It was refreshing on a surprisingly hot day. I decided to sample the Yue Club menu. I ordered three items -- Hong Kong Har Gow, Siu Mai, and Fried Tofu Skin with Shrimp. I was told there would be a 15 minute wait. I took a seat outside. 15 minutes later, my order was ready. They have boba, japanese food, chinese food, and dessert (macarons). I only got to try japanese food and macarons but the macarons were AMAZING. I would drive all the way back to Alameda for them. Japanese food was interesting because they served "home food" like croquette, hamburg, etc. that we are less used to. Portions looked small at first but they were all very filling. Treasure box with sashimi and rice on the bottom (very good but very pricey), bento box (the spaghetti inside was kinda weird), spicy tuna (not spicy but it was yummy), soboro don with ebi fry and croquette were both pretty good. There's ample seating outside, and a second section inside that is separate from an area with the food pick up. Reporting after two in-person visits over the past 18 months or so. The first time, my daughter and I ordered a number of sushi items, it was long enough ago that I don't remember the exact menu items, but suffice to say we both love sushi and it came out to around $100 for the two of us. Robot delivery and hard-to-use webapp for ordering was different, maybe even quirky, I liked supporting a local business. The value proposition was very questionable, though. But perhaps that was just the sushi, there's plenty of other options, right? So went back again last week with a buddy. This time we got one of the big dim sum assortments. Wasn't bad, but not great, similar quality as the sushi..as others have noted, had that previously-frozen/store-bought taste and texture. My friend, who was facing the kitchen, noted that the lady working out of the back kept "scowling" at him. I'm always one to give someone the benefit of the doubt, so I figured maybe just resting b face or something. Again, bill was around $70 for two, again surprisingly high for the quality and the fact that we split one (big) order. I then came down with food poisoning the next morning, after not having anything else to eat after. Have a long history on Yelp and haven't been actively writing reviews for years, but I do use it to read them. And compelled to write this one after seeing another also reporting food poisoning from this establishment. And it pains me to write this because I want this local business to succeed, I love the concept, and I'm willing to look past any surly employees. I placed an order in the Saga Kitchen app ahead of time and when I arrived my food came out in about 20 minutes. Everything was fresh! The location is very clean and the employees are extremely sweet! I ordered the chicken Kurobuta Katsu Sando from Koharu. Wow! One of the most delicious Sandos I've ever had! My family loved it as well. Even though I was 35 minutes away from home by the time we all got to try it, it was still amazing! I will be dreaming about this sandwich. Second, I had the Spicy Tuna from Satchi and it was very good! It is a simple roll but it was perfect. Very good flavor and the fish tasted fresh. Also, I ordered the Gokiyoi x Saga Sakura Treasure Box. I was very excited to try this dish! It was everything I imagined. The fish was fresh and the combo was great! I first learned of SAGA Kitchen at a Yelp Elite Event. I had ordered an Omakase set without shellfish and my order was accidentally with a sando box. Although the tonkatsu sando was delicious, I really wanted sushi. To my surprise, after my Yelp review, SAGA replaced it the following week after the event with the correct Omakase set on the house! At first I was too embarrassed to call but I'm glad I did. The owner was super friendly and totally understanding. He remembered hearing my order and knew there might have been a mix up. Since my husband picked up, he had no clue what my order was. Props to SAGA for excellent service! The Omakase set came with good cuts of fresh fish. The rice also tasted good. Not dry and with the right amount of vinegar. I definitely want to return with the family. I love the concept of having different asian foods to choose from that meets all our different cravings. This is a review for their sushi menu. I really liked it ! I first heard about this place from TikTok, and thought it was a big food hall. Because of that it was actually a bit hard to locate here on yelp cause they don't have food hall in their name I flipped through their four different offerings-- and it proves to be a good variety! But I am often skeptical of places that have such a broad array of food choices, and wanted to try to big quality and high quality sushi boxes I saw on TikTok. It was a bit confusing what the flow was once I came in, but the staff was very helpful in that you can order for sit down with them and by QR code menu, or go to the kiosk in their annex next door for to go. Though there were a lot of open seats I chose to get to go and the service was quick. I was really happy when I opened it at home, it was a really nice selection of fish, all delicious, and had some gems like a smoky fish, uni, and ikura. I will come again! SAGA Kitchen is a cloud kitchen located right in the heart of Alameda. It's an easily accessible location with plenty of parking on Lincoln Avenue. I called in for an order and ended up coming later than expected, but the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Gilbert & Mina welcomed me even though I came after hours and I absolutely appreciate their customer service. Again, the staff at SAGA Kitchen are SO NICE! There's a variety of options at SAGA Kitchen, but since there was a special collaboration with GoKiyoi, I tried the GoKiyoi Bento Box Special & their GoKiyoi Macarons What came in the box: - Fried Salmon - Crispy Panko Shrimp - Fried Panko Potato Cake - Popcorn Chicken - Fried Calamari - Spaghetti Noodles - Broccoli - Egg - Rice - Cherry Tomato - Slice of Lemon GoKiyoi Macaron Flavors: - Cherry Blossom - Black Sesame The bento box was the perfect proportion for a hearty meal on the go. I liked the various food dishes placed together like a sampler platter. Each dish was tasty and complimented each other. It was a nice touch to have the lemon and cherry tomato to add as accents to the meal palette. Another amazing thing happened! Since I came after closing, Mina was kind enough to offer me several additional macarons. I was like.... YAAAS! They were adorably packaged and the size of the macarons were generously large. The Cherry Blossom macaron had a beautiful edible Sakura flower and the Black Sesame was dashed with gold paint. The macaron shells had the perfect consistency and the cream was yummy. They were a great end to the meal! I would recommend paying a visit to SAGA Kitchen to try the different food dishes & drinks from their partnering vendors. Late post from their Yelp elite event, just copying and pasting my review. Great event, so happy I was able to be a part of. While I didn't find parking right in front I was able to find one nearby. I also pre-ordered some other dishes to pick up as well: Sakura event treasure box, sticky rice and shu Mai. Very cute store design and I was greeted by Harry? who working at Experience Tea while another yelper was being helped before me. They told me it'll be about 5 mins while they finished prepping the treasure box so Harry took the time to explain his Experience Tea concept. So glad he did! They brew a different green and black tea each day. The green tea on Friday was pearl orchid. He let me taste it and it was light and refreshing ! He also offered to let me taste the black tea but I declined since he mentioned it would be stronger. I was going to pre-order a lilikoi (passionfruit) tea but was worried about the strong tea taste and he helped alleviate my concern. He was kind enough to make it for me even though he was not fully open yet. It was cool to see him make it and put in fresh lilikoi, yum! My food was ready and all packed and my tea only took another min to be ready. All the employees there were so nice and friendly:) The bento box was pretty good. The rice was a bit dry but I really enjoyed the karaage chicken, meatball or tiny hambagaa and salmon. Love the variety if the meal. Sakura and black sesame macaron also really delicious. I enjoyed the Sakura flavor more. Treasure box was so good but I wish there was more nori included! Duplicate Yelp, one for each concept/business??? Sorry, but I am so confused... Was I in the city (SF)? Or LA? Way too trendy for Alameda. SAGA - "Locally-owned virtual food hall" Slurp shop - Ramen Yue club - "Authentic Cantonese Dim Sum Cuisine" Koharu - Japanese Cafe Quality/Quantity - Food was 5 stars! We ordered one dish from each business concept: Kohara - Chicken Karaage, hit of the meal. Deep fried, so slightly biased... If you are following, you know I love deep fried food. Good flavor, and the sauce was the bomb. Slight hint of heat, but NOT overwhelmingly spicy. SAGA - White Tiger, smaller than expected, but the flavor was on point, better than expected. Slurp Shop - Meyer Lemon Shio, flavors were good, including the broth. Expected serving size for the quality and price, but more than enough for a single meal. Yue Club - Beef Ball Dumpling, plating could have been better, but again the flavor was spot on. Additionally, the quantity was expected for the quality. Atmosphere - Food hall concept??? Virtual food hall concept??? First time here, but the lady that greeted us did not seem to care. Was told to NOT move chairs around and order through the app on the table. Normally it is pretty easy, but since there are 4 concepts/businesses here, it was not as user friendly as one would expect. Small local business or businesses, not sure how many businesses are here. Cool decor. Robot to deliver our food, which was NOT necessary??? So other than the entertainment value, no additional service. We also watched a couple other customers NOT know how to "finish" their service with the robot, etc. Plus one customer ordered ramen and it spilled on the robot. Street parking, no problem as we came late at night. Numerous to-go orders, very consistent, congrats. Kitchen staff working hard, and plenty of kitchen staff. I saw at least 5 team members. Not sure if that is due to the 4 concepts/businesses. Open 5 days a week from 11:30am to 8:30pm, closed Mon & Tue. Service - N/A, self service. Had to get our own sauces, utensils, and napkins from a self-service station. The phone website where we placed and paid for our order predicted our food to arrive 29 minutes after ordering. After 30 minutes, our food started to slowly arrive. We got our last dish almost an hour later. And it did not come in the order of appetizer and then entree. It came as it was made. Price - $54 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2020. We will be back for the food. Can I suggest adding some human customer service? At least say hello and smile as customers walk through the door. read more

Saga Kitchen consists of three businesses: Sachi Sushi (sushi and sashimi), Koharu (bento boxes), and Yue Club (dim sum). They are currently no longer doing milk tea. Koharu - did not try anything from this menu Yue Club - 5 stars - I ordered the Salted Egg Yolk Bun, and they did not disappoint!!! These are definitely one of the best in the area, and I almost cried from joy when I ripped the bun in half and the center oozed out. It was the right texture and flavor too! 100% worth. Sachi Sushi - 2 stars - I ordered the Omakase Sashimi Set and the Maguro Don, and sadly they did not live up to expectations. All the fish cuts were super weird. All, except maybe 5 slices, had an incredibly tough part attached, but that is not the worst part. I had 2 that had a scale left in, and one I could not pull out no matter how hard I tried. They need to work on this. The only good thing is that the fish and rice tasted good. Overall, I will definitely try more of the dim sum, but pass on the sushi. read more

I debated about the number of stars I wanted to give this place: on one hand, the nigiri selection I ordered were all EXCELLENT (the ankimo was especially good). The staff is very friendly and the vibe in there is really chill. HOWEVER....the lion king roll was served to me cold. It was also on the smaller side. Any sushi house worth their soy sauce should know that the lion king roll is baked and served hot, and larger than most rolls. I would eat here again but I'll get my lion king fix elsewhere (hint for any staff that reads this..go to Sushi House on park street to see how the lion king should be prepared and served and you'll see what I'm on about. read more

Ambiance: It's a very cute and trendy place -- worthy of a lot of pictures! There are two separate seating areas with plenty of seating, but there didn't seem to be a lot of people there for a lunch hour. Service: The person at the front counter was very kind! We were slightly confused on how to order (it's more of a self-service place), but they guided us! Food: We ordered the egg drop soup, the curry udon, and the tonkotsu ramen. I loved the egg drop soup! I wish the curry udon had more ingredients, and it seemed slightly over-ginger-y. The tonkotsu ramen had really light flavoring. read more

Food: its basic restaurant quality so no flashy prices. Slurp shop tonkatsu ramen ranked at the top followed by the chirashi or omakase set. Their katsu sandwiches are big. Dont even bother with the dim sum/yue club (you can get frozen versions from weee/R99, make it at home and it'll taste better). Lookout for this con: THEY SUBSTITUTE AN ITEM that they ran out without really telling you. Every time they do this, and they do it a lot, I wish they didn't! How many times I've had this done to me? 1) They replaced a wagyu nigiri with some other fish that had bones 2) They replaced the ramen kakuni with grilled beef and I got real bad digestion. 3) The suimai replaced with gross soggy dumplings. I honestly would rather get cash back OR they could just ask me what I prefer the substitution be. If this happens to me again I should just return the food and get my money back. read more
