Food is great and the service is fantastic. Nice vibes and they have a cool robot that delivers your meals.

Came here for a Yelp elite event and also ordered a garlic terriyaki don meal. As for the food- the chicken kaarage is amazing here. It is reminiscent of the popcorn chicken that is sold at boba shops, but Saga's chicken blows it out of the water. I tried a tako nigiri as well, it was delicious. Overall, my favorite things of the night have to be the macarons and the sushi. However, I'll be looking forward to trying their dumplings when I come here next. read more

Don't be fooled by the cheap street art decor and robot server, this place is not worth your time. The food was dry and nobody checked on our table. We ordered and paid by an app, so there was no incentive to provide us any service. Alameda has many good Japanese restaurants, try any other one. read more

So, it's rough on this biz. Frankly, because it's really three spots, you have to consider 3 things... so here goes. I've now had dim sim/chinese and sushi multiple times. But I'm done. I got food poisoning from the sushi - enough said on that part of the business. But the dim sum was always tasty and okay (cooked). But today we were severely disappointed in the food quality. Everything seemed store bought, not fresh, and frankly, not up to par with what we'd experienced when we first ordered from them. Our first time - the dumplings were like the pictures on yelp. This go round, the dumplings were small and nothing like the ones before. So we're done. What was good was fine. But it wasn't enough to justify continued patronage. Maybe we'll try again in a year. read more

Found this spot last minute and hoped they'd still be open at least for take out so close to closing. I gotta say , I'm sure glad they because I just found my new Champs for ramen. I've only tried one of four bowls, I know seems like a small selection to choose From but it was spectacular, I didn't even reheat like I usually do when I get home I cleaned my bowl as is. The spice was just perfect how I like it and the noodles ... yum!!!! !!*-+--more worth mentioning--+-*!! -- musical robot server!! -- super clean lounge type area -- superb Sushi selections -- the Salted egg custard buns!!!!! Came here on a Saturday morning must as they opened! Ambiance is super cute & intimate, though they're not open at full capacity yet during the pandemic. Parking: plenty of parking all around the neighborhood, be prepared you may have to walk a few blocks but shouldn't be too bad. The walk was pleasant with the Alalmeda breeze Food: Salted egg dessert: highly recommended, I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet and salty balance. The salt wasn't overpowering at all and I definitely loved how soft and fluffy the outside of the dessert was Black sesame balls: as a hue black sesame fan, I couldn't help but order this but realized it wasn't the best. I felt it was over fried and there was a lot of leftover oil that made it unappealing Bento box sampler: if you were on the fence on several items, I would recommend this option as the box came with a variety of different food. The beef meatball and the salmon was a bit over cooked so it was dry and not the best. The chicken was better when squeezed with lemon. Their spaghetti was surprisingly delicious but be warned it's on the sweeter side. Rice was cooked to perfection & I loved the soft egg with yolk it came with Overall, this place was pretty good. No complaints, I'd come back and try some of their other items! read more

Would love for a location in South Bay! Absolutely loved the food here! Ordered the Sakura Treasure Box, Hokkaido Uni, Hon Maguro Chu Toro, and Tonkatsu curry. Absolutely loved the fish as compared to many other sushi places with toro that had less fatty texture than a toro's supposed to have. The tonkatsu was something else! Have been thinking all these years that there's not really a place in the area that does tonkatsu really well and I finally found it! The tonkatsu was not dry at all. Ended up loving the food so much that I ordered a lot of takeout to bring home! Loved all the hype decorations at the restaurant and would DEFINITELY come here again! read more

Arrived. Wasn't sure where to go, if we should seat ourselves, order upfront or continue to wait. We waited. Servers passed us, sushi chef looked at us. We were not acknowledged or helped. After another party behind us walked around looking equally confused, we conferences and figured out that it was self-service. We asked what the process was from a frantic server who we interrupted walking by us. They explained they were slammed and told us to order from the QR code. When we pointed out the code was scratched off, they pointed out a kiosk. They left us to our own devices. We looked around and majority of the tables were without food, some have been sitting for seemingly awhile with beers and waters nearly gone. Clearly they were beyond capacity. We left. read more

Poor service and organization, dirty dishes, mediocre food, and an owner who won't take responsibility for mistakes. They need to shape up on basics before trying to be trendy with a robot server that doesn't work. Check out the other 1 star reviews and expect long wait times. --- My mom and I ordered the Negi Hama roll and White Tiger roll for lunch today, and they wouldn't take our order at the counter. Okay, no problem. We scanned the QR code at our table, but had to go back in to order anyways since there wasn't a cash option. Just ordering shouldn't have so much unnecessary struggle, but we were still in good spirits. That is, until we waited over 30 minutes with no word on our food. Not to mention how their food delivering robot was stuck at the door repeating "something's in my way!" for at least 15 minutes. I watched an adjacent table wait that entire time for their dim sum, which was trapped inside the robot. Staff and the owner were inside but no one did anything about it. We watched others who had come long after us get their food, so my mom decided to go in and ask about our order. When the owner finally brought our sushi out, there was no ginger, a sauce dish had an old piece of dried scallion stuck to it, and the White Tiger roll ($17!) was missing an entire ingredient (no avocado). My mom asked for chopsticks, and was understandably frustrated about the overall poor experience (she could have handled her temper better as well). The owner retaliated saying this is a no-service restaurant, and that we could either sit and eat our food or get a refund. We ate our incorrectly made food and watched him serve other tables at the "no-service" restaurant. I regret not opting for the refund. --- Advice for the owner: 1) Put up signs explaining how to order and what to expect. Have more patience for the elderly locals in Alameda. 2) If you make a mistake, apologize and try to make things better instead of blaming the customer. We understand how busy the lunch rush can get; we just want to be treated like human beings. 3) If you see your robot struggling, help it! It's not as cute when it's repeating its distress calls ad infinitum. read more

This review is only based on my experience of "Slurp Ramen" and the XLB form the dim sum selections. I ordered the following: 1. Meyer lemon shiro (ramen). The portion is decent (more than what the photo shows), but several things disappointed me: 1) The chashu pork are very fatty (the most fatty I've seen); 2) The broth is rather blend and doesn't have a Meyer lemon kick; 3) The noodles are congealed together at one point; 2. Chicken karage. This tastes exactly as expected. I recommend it if that's what you crave 3. Xiao Long Bao. I tried from my friend's order. The skin is noticeably thick. While the flavors are good, there is not much soup inside. I would not recommend this. Other than that, the ambiance is not bad for a quick lunch catch-up with friends (small group only), and the server-bot is cute. read more

Saga Kitchen is a cute little spot with multiple restaurants inside. Parking is street parking, but there is plenty of places to park around the corner. Staff is pretty friendly here as well. At the moment, they offer Chinese food/dim sum from Yue Club; Japanese food/sushi from Koharu and Sachi Sushi; and ramen/udon from Slurp Shop. They used to have a boba shop here as well, but last I talked to the staff there, they were looking a permanent spot as I recall, so I guess they moved. So far, I had tried the dim sum from Yue Club and sushi from Sachi Sushi here (and the boba when they were still here). All 3 were okay. I like the concept, so if I am in the area and want the convenience of multiple different restaurants at one location I would stop by again. read more

I went there today with my young children. From the moment we entered, the woman at the cashier stared at us. I certainly did not feel welcomed. It was a completely new and unpleasant experience for me. She was not willing to talk or provide any service. She was rude. Additionally, the tables she gave us to sit at were too small. I had always been eager to try this place because the food looked delicious, but after this visit, I will never go again. I understand their concept is different but they seriously need to improve their attitude or at least learn how to smile! read more

I feel like I've been robbed. TWO STARS: Tonkatsu Bento My boyfriend tried this dish, and said it was nothing special. For $17, it was pretty pricey for dry tonkatsu over dry rice. He said the sauce they provided reminded him of L&L Hawaiian barbecue sauce. ZERO STARS: Sakura Treasure Box Wow...everything about this was so bad. --The fish was extremely fishy. NONE of the fish were good. In fact, the negitoro was a beige/brown color.... I'm not exaggerating when I say it was fishier than the two-day old poke bowl I had accidentally forgotten in the refrigerator earlier this week. My friend was actually worried about her stomach in the way home because of this. --The rice was NOT sushi rice. In fact, it was dry, crumbly, and tasted like my boyfriend's bento rice... --The horseradish was extremely mild and scooped out of a tub--who knows how long that had been there. --The ginger was also very mild, not much ginger taste at all. --Even the nori sheets they provided were stale and disappointing... The worst part is that I came here because it was recommended by a foodie influencer that I personally know after they had attended one of their influencer/Yelp elite events. They said they had none of these problems when they attended the event and were shocked to see that I had a bad time. This made me feel like they only focus on marketing and only provide fresh fish and good food to those with a following, rather than regular customers. I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant before. Well anyway, they had a cute robot that brought the food out to us, so that was cool I guess. read more

Couldn't eat more than a couple of bites of the Beef Katsu Sando, it was very tough (you know that saying something is like eating a leather shoe?) and it just didn't have a good flavor. The Pork Tonkatsu meal was equally disappointing. Tough, meat that had an odor to it like it wasn't fresh. The salad had a perfume sort of smell and tasted like soap got into it. This was a DoorDash delivery, so in the store might be better? The photos they show compared to what you get are quite laughable. Dumpling was actually good. All that we finished of the meal though. read more

A DETAILED REVIEW OF MY FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT IN ALAMEDA In my opinion, it's better than sushi house. Although they don't have as many options they definitely take it home with the quality and flavors! I love the theme they have going inside, service is excellent and their packaging is very insta-worthy! What I got -Negi toro roll (my favorite roll! It's affordable for the amount and especially if your not planning on spending much money or eat too much -Uni nigiri ( a MUST, especially if your a fan of Santa Barbara uni) - Real crab meat nigiri (delicious ) -sweet shrimp nigiri (I love that it comes with a fried shrimp head SUPER GOOD!) -Chu toro nigiri (normally tuna isn't my favorite but it is here! The cut and quality is so good and fresh! They have definitely changed my mind) Other things I've gotten -treasure box (great for Togo but AMAZINGGG for dine in) -salmon nigiri (very standard but still very good) -ankimo ( monk fish liver, SOOO GOOD reminds me of pate!) read more

Hi, I'm writing this review from a DoorDash user's perspective. I have never been there in person because I heard that they host many influencer events during the weekends, which might affect your order time and delivery. You can see that most of these overly hyped reviews are all Yelp Elites. Last Sunday, I ordered through the DoorDash app, and I didn't get my food until 1 hour and 20 minutes later. I understand that these days are difficult and some restaurants are busy, and your order might be delayed; however, my friend is a DoorDash driver and has complained about this place before. They said that the cashier would tell them to wait for 5 minutes; however, they were forced to wait for another 35-40 minutes. I'm sad because I wanted to like this place. I have cravings for Asian foods (especially Japanese food), but this place has disappointed me several times. The price + time + quality isn't worth it at all. I'd suggest the management teams set realistic expectations and wait times instead of having customers/drivers wait cluelessly for a long time, so BEWARE! Don't order when you are hungry :( read more

Be wary of the other reviews, as this place often run influencer events to generate positive reviews. I know because I was stuck in the middle of an event and my food order was completely forgotten and then it took nearly an hour and a half to get my food. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEIR WEBSITE, use doordash instead. They can't seem to manage orders from the site properly across all the restaurants/menus. I get it, my family used to own a restaurant, the kitchen gets slammed some times and wait times a long. But the attitude and service of this place is completely ridiculous. First, they completely forgot my order. They then told me it would be roughly a 15 minute wait. After waiting 30 minutes, I was told it would be another 5 minutes. I watched them placed my katsu sando on the counter, before waiting nearly 30 more minutes before my donburi was done. I told them I no longer wanted the sandwich because its soggy just sitting there covered and they lied and told me it was just finished 5 minutes go. I called them out on their BS and they gave me a bunch of shit for it. They treat people horribly, especially the doordash delivery drivers. I told them their issue was that they were not setting expectations properly, that my 15 minute wait turned into over an hour. They also told people quite a few orders after us that it would be 10 minutes even though they knew it would take 30+ minutes. The cashier didn't care because they were not customers, just "doordash delivery", not being considerate that people are making a few bucks waiting for an hour. Food was somewhat okay, as we ended up eating just the donburi that was decently hot. It was missing sauce, utensils, napakins, and topping because they were in a rush. This place is a mess, I don't recommend coming and I certainly won't be back. read more

What a concept, I'm not sure how they offer such a variety of delicious asian cuisine here, but they do... japanese sandos, sushi omakase, dimsum, and even ramen... in the middle of Alameda which is not a popular destination to go out of your way to visit. And they have a robot happily hovering around delivering orders to patrons, i was honestly at a loss of words hahahah, so random. But hey, the food wasn't bad, it was actually decent. We got the kurobata pork sando and the sashimi omakase or less than 60 bucks, not a bad deal ~ I'd come back for the japanese sandos, I want to try their beef version and the dimsum. read more

I have been to this place 3 times now since it first opened. The space is pretty cute and the robot is an interesting addition (at least the first few times). It's a friendly spot and clearly, someone has put a lot of time into SAGA Kitchen's environment and aesthetics as it's a comfy place to be. I wish a little more time was put into the food. From the dumplings to the ramen I found myself a bit underwhelmed. Everything I have had on the pan Asian menu has been a bit on the plain side. None of the food is offensive but none of it stands out to me. If you want a nice hangout spot with some ok food I'd recommend it. Sometimes that's all you need and I've seen some of the local kids really enjoy their time here. I just wish the food stood out a bit more. read more

I've eaten here a few times, and this is one of the secret gems of Alameda. I know I should wish they had more business but I also don't want to have to wait in a line to sit at this awesome spot. This composed of several themes of Asian Fair on four separate menus. The cafe bento's have something for everybody as do the Taiwanese buns. My only reservations are mechanical, for the hypnosis of this place I'm surprised they're white by coverage doesn't cover the outside of the restaurant very well. And they really need to work on their whole contact list thing, there are things messing up the menu don't have really good descriptions under a little hard to order since some of their items like beverages change but aren't updated on the menu. And the app they use for you to order is on the clunky side. I'm not digging them a star for any of that stuff because one of the craziest features of this place is they have a robot that delivers your food to your table! Beware they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. read more

SAGA Kitchen - Soboro Don with ebi fry, tonkatsu bento and salty egg yolk lava buns! - Dim Sum Near Me - Alameda, California

It's okay, I ordered the treasure box, and a few makis. I also got pan fried pot stickers and the steak sando. Fish quality is okay, but their nigiri pricing is kind of expensive with it only being one piece per order. The sando was okay, breading wasn't really sticking to the steak though. Might need to double panko it or make sure the meat is more dry to make sure the breading sticks. Their ticket times are really long. When ordering through the app it quoted a 40 minute ticket time, which is absurdly long compared the the industry standard 20 minute ticket time. Plenty of seating, inside is decorated nicely, super hypebeast. Overall it's a cool experience, but social media over hyped it and I probably won't be coming back. If you want sushi there's plenty of other options in Alameda that can get you your food to you in half the time. read more

We dined in the space on the left, I was told there was a 2nd dining space but I never would have thought there was more to the place than where I was, meaning it did not feel like a "food hall." And it didn't feel like 3 restaurants, more like 1 restaurant with 3 menus. Our group was the only one dining in on a Sunday lunch hour and that was fine with us since ya know, Covid. The 4 stars is for the food itself. We had the dim sum platter, the 2 sashimi specials, and 2 orders of avocado rolls. The dim sum were huge, didn't even fit in one platter. All the dim sum were tasty, tender, nice and hot. The salt yolk buns had a tender bun. The sui mai were large and succulent. All the sashimi tasted fresh and were the standout. My friend who eats a lot of sushi was impressed with the quality of the fish. I just know it was tasty! Only criticism is the sushi rice was a little mushy and crumbly, and not much rice vinegar seasoning taste. It tasted like it was previously refrigerated. They used a robot to help serve, but I found it amusing because the space was so small. It took the server more time to load the robot up and serve than to just walk it to the table themselves. But maybe that's not the point of it, perhaps it's more for exposure... but a human still cooked it and put on the robot, what's another 10 ft? My friend said it's more popular for takeout. All in all it's a hidden gem for sushi and dim sum. read more

Came here over the weekend since my girlfriend and I was in the alameda area and decided to check this spot out after looking on Yelp. We came around 2ish and the restaurant was pretty much empty which was good I suppose. We checked out the menu(s) and there seems to be multiple restaurants/cuisines operating in one central location. I guess this was advertised as a food hall. There's a menu for dim sum, japanese curry, sushi, and I forgot what the other one was but you can pretty much order anything off the different menus, so you can technically have dim sum and Japanese curry at the same time lol. We opted to try out their sushi items and ordered the salmon ikura box and the treasure box. Both tasted fresh and delicious although there's less rice compared to other boxes I've had from other restaurants. So you might need to order additional items. Overall, I think the food we had was pretty good, and I'd recommend this spot if you're in the area. I first saw this place on instagram and have been meaning to go to the treasure box omakase. We finally got it and it met our expectation. The atmosphere was interesting though. It was two rooms right next to each other with seating and the food was delivered by one of those robots. The food was great even though it is not really a sushi restaurant. They have so many selection such as sushi, dimsum, ramen, etc. I need to go back to try their other options. Their dimsum looked pretty good as well and I hope I can return soon. There will be something for everyone here for sure. The vast menu gets extra points from me. read more

Sooooo good. I got a couple different options. They were all so good! The seating was super cute, too.

This review is for a delivery order: We had a craving for ramen and decided to try something new rather than order from the usual places. We ordered two of the house tonkotsu ramen and one order of curry rice. House Tonkotsu: Due to both poor delivery handling and poor packaging these items arrived with half their broth spilled out of the bowls and into the plastic bags each was packaged in. Broth flavor 0/5- I've never tasted a tonkotsu broth with this flavor and I have no words to describe it other than NO. Noodles: 2/5- quite soggy thin rice type noodle. Toppings 2/5 veggies not fresh, egg was questionably old. Meat: 3/10 Okay, lacked flavor and fat. We did not eat more than 3 bites before feeling unsure if these soups were rancid and choosing not to eat them. 5/5 for portion size- these were the largest ramens with the most noodles I've ever received. Curry Rice: Also 5/5 for portion size of rice, 3/5 for rice portion size vs curry portion size- more curry was necessary for the amount of rice sent. Veggies- 2/5 much more veggies were needed to balance the amount of rice & curry, veggies were not fresh. Curry flavor- 2/5 lacking deep umami and richness of flavor usually found in curry, possibly watered down or old. I think the greatest issue with this order was the freshness of the dishes and their ingredients, everything tasted a bit old and the soup was definitely the eldest and had possibly turned bad. Not the type of old you anticipate when ordering delivery, the type of old you shouldn't be eating. Given this spot looks more popular for other items I may try them again, but all in all very turned off from returning. read more

Super mixed feelings. Have been wanting to Saga kitchen out and feels unfair to give a review after one try but had a 5 star and a 1 star experience so putting it out there. Ordered only two things the omakase (sashimi) and Kurobuta Tonkatsu Sando. The high: one of the better katsu sandos I've had and I've had quite a few. Definitely shareable and I'd be happy to get it again any day! However I was really sad about our omakase. I think the photo is like a Big Mac on a billboard vs what you actually get kind of level of disappointment if that makes sense. Two of the fish were very fishy and I like fishy. Saba is one of my favorite nigiri ever, but these were very strong sea/fish flavor in an unpleasant way. Portions were on the smaller than expected side (pls note in the photo I had taken one piece from each type of fish). The sake tasted really good but not enough to make up for the others. Unfortunately I don't think I'll grab fish from here again. I've had quite a few omakase offerings from various places ranging from $35 to 200, and while I don't expect them to compare, the hype had me super excited to give it a try. So a 5 and a 1, evens out to 3. Bummer. read more
