I've been here several times now, and it's been consistently excellent. Every visit, the food and drinks have been on point. It is a bit pricey, but the portions are generous and justify the cost. The flavors are bold, balanced, and clearly well thought out--nothing feels rushed or watered down. Service has been excellent each time: attentive, friendly, and professional. On top of that, the decor and overall ambience are really well done. The space feels modern, warm, and polished, making it a great spot for both a casual night out or a nicer dinner. If you're looking for quality Indian food in the Aksarben area with strong flavors, great service, and a solid dining atmosphere, this place delivers. Worth repeat visits.

Chicken Masala Takeout
Sneha P.

I had Saffron for the first time as takeout group order at work. The menu is confusing, difficult to tell the differences between chicken masala, chicken, tikka naan, chicken tikka korma, etc. I ended up trying the chicken masala curry, which was creamy but lacked flavor otherwise. The side of soup that the curries come with tasted a bit watered down. Overall, not the best Indian food, but I hear good things about the ambiance and chai, both of which I was not able to experience.

Great food and great service!!!!! Whenever I'm in Omaha and I want some really delicious flavorful food, I can always count on coming to Saffron and having the mot delicious Lamb Korma! Nice pleasant relaxing atmosphere and soft lighting makes for a great dining experience!

Beef Vindaloo

Great spot in Aksarben Village and the food soo good! Started off with a Torchlight cocktail, the perfect spicy margarita. You can't go wrong with vegetables samosas and cheese naan. For entree we had the Beef Vindaloo and Shrimp Bhuna. The vindaloo had a great amount of spice and you get a full ribeye steak. The bhuna was more mild and had nice flavor with tomato, onion, and garlic. The shrimp was a little overdone, but I could look past that due to the flavor of the dish. We finished with Mango Lassis, sweet and smooth helped alleviate the heat from the meal. You've got to check this place out.

Mumbai cocktail (partially consumed).

Always enjoy the service, atmosphere and the food. We like to try several dishes so we have leftovers for later in the week. And the cocktails, especially the Mumbai are phenomenal.

Pick 2 lunch option

Went for lunch, great service and awesome atmosphere. For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a finer dining experience. Went with the Pick 2 lunch option (2 entrees, rice, mixed pickle, naan, dessert). For $16, this felt like an absolute steal. And also, $2 bottomless chai? Easy choice, delicious! Overall, great experience, food could definitely have more spice, I wish I'd have chosen hot because medium felt very mild. Naan was good, but far from the best I've had. For the price, this place is a great lunch spot!

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place--we come here often and always have a great experience! I can't believe I haven't reviewed them until now, oops! The food is AMAZING--everything we've tried is so flavorful and perfectly cooked. They also have great happy hour specials. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming, which makes every visit even better. Plus, the portions are generous, so we always have leftovers to enjoy the next day! If you're looking for incredible Indian food and a warm atmosphere, this is the place to go :)

Soup was so good

Back at Saffron for lunch today. Was good on this cold day. Sadly a couple things though made it a 4 star. For some reason they didn't have any mixed pickle . And I asked for my dishes to be XXtra Hot and they were maybe medium spicy. I absolutely love the pick 2 lunch option though. I had lamb Koran and chicken masala. Always great flavor! The meat samosas today seemed to be lacking flavor compared to past visits. All around still a very enjoyable lunch.

Lunch specials

Came here on a weekend for lunch around 1 pm and the place was EMPTY! At first I was concerned, however the service and the food was excellent. The lunch special is a great deal and served on a thali. The vibe of the restaurant is upscale with large windows and open bar space. The food was delicious I tried the chicken masala, lamb korma and salmon. All dishes had a great balance of spice and flavor. Will definitely be back to check it out again!

Interior with beautiful racks of wine

Interior was beautiful for date night, they have a room that you can rent for private events as well. The chip/pita/ naan bread that came with the spinach and cheese dip was hot and fresh. The spinach & cheese dip was a bit salty and had a hint of curry flavor to it - this was like a curry spinach & artichoke type of dip. For our entrees we got the chicken masala and lamb bhuna - both spicy. The heat was definitely there - definitely knew how to spice it up. However the masala was very creamy since it has sour cream in it - it didn't have that usual tikka masala taste to it compared to other restaurants I've tried. I was slightly disappointed that the menu didn't have the basics of butter chicken or a regular chicken tikka masala. The lamb bhuna was very flavorful compared to the masala, but the rice that was served was a bit hard almost like it was undercooked or old rice - basmati rice can be a little softer. The drinks were great! Mango Moscow mule was sweet & same with the cosmo! Our waitress was friendly and checked up on us often.

Went for the lunch special. Enjoyed everything we got! I loved how it came with a complementary chai. It is very nice inside restaurant. Love the color scheme inside and the plants in there. The service was decent.

Vegtable Samosa

Omaha has a wealth of good Indian restaurants to pick from, and Saffron is a great choice if you're looking for a little more of an upscale Indian dining experience. The cozy, dimly lit interior and warm curry was exactly what I needed on a cold January night. No reservations necessary for a Sunday evening; we were sat and attended to immediately. The menu includes all of the classics, as well as some interesting cocktails and an extensive bar menu. We started with the veggie samosas, which came with two sauces (1 savory and 1 sweet). The samosas were great and very large, but they would have been perfect if they were a tad hotter. For an entree, I got the Chicken Tikka Korma, which was delicious. It was the perfect balance of rich, creamy, and savory flavors. A match made in heaven with the fresh rice and naan. I also really enjoyed the soup included with the entree, which came out before the main meal. The presentation of everything was beautiful as well. There is a lot of seating inside, but they also offer patio dining for the warmer months. I look forward to coming back! I might choose another spot for my day-to-day Indian food, but this was definitely a cute spot for a nice quality meal.

Keema Paratha

What a wonderful experience for a meal! We came in on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my friend's birthday. It was happy hour, so we ordered apps to share and drinks. I ordered the Mumbai for my drink, it was like a Negroni and so lovely, but potent! My friends both ordered the Bombay margaritas and enjoyed the fresh flavor. For apps, we ordered the Keema paratha which I enjoyed more than the chicken and cheese naan, which was similar. They both came with mint chutney that we couldn't get enough of! I wish the keema paratha would have had more tomato flavor, but the beef was a great flavor. Both the meat and veggie samosas were good, great depth of flavor for both. I prefer veggie samosas personally, it's not a samosa to me without that delectable turmeric spiced potato filling. The cheese and spinach dip was a delightful surprise. I didn't originally want to order a cheese and spinach dip at an Indian restaurant when there are so many good options, but it was heavenly! The dishes all had gorgeous presentation, every time something came out I audibly gasped, ha! Our waitress was really great until the end, when we couldn't find her to get our bill, but we weren't in a big hurry, so no big deal. Prior to that, she brought us complimentary tequila shots since we were celebrating a birthday, it was so sweet! She said normally they bring a dessert, but she said these seemed more fun, which we totally agreed with. As far as the ambiance, the restaurant itself was beautiful. It was a mix of casual, not-everything-in-its-place vibe while also combining the upscale decor and dark look for a touch of romance. It's a good place for a casual happy hour with girlfriends or a romantic date night. They have a party room where someone was having a graduation party, so it's good for groups. The one odd part was the bathroom was so dark, by design, so that could potentially cause problems if you can't see well or have one too many Mumbais.

It was a Thursday evening and not very busy. Only two other tables when we were there which really surprised me after tasting the food. They started out with the complimentary papadam with two different sauces a mint chutney and a brown sauce not sure what it is but both great. We started off with the naan bread basket and an another garlic cheese naan definitely didn't need more than the bread basket was a very large portion to split. All were very tasty the garlic was my favorite. I had the Karnali combo biryani which was awesome had the right heat I asked for spice wise and good amount of all the different meats. My wife got the mango masala which she really enjoyed and isn't always the biggest Indian food fan but she ate hers and ate the leftovers the next day as well. My aunt had chicken korma which she raved about as well. My mother tried the malai kofta she had only tried Indian food once many years ago and this experience confirmed she's not a fan and has a bad taste palette haha. I really enjoyed this dish as well and was happy to have the leftovers the next couple days. We ordered her some chicken tenders from the kids menu but those also had some seasonings more cumin I'd say and others that she didn't enjoy but our 14 month old really enjoyed. So if you have a very picky eater maybe go with one of the other kids options. The white creamy sauce that came with my biryani was also bursting with flavor and had a great cooling sensation. The man who served our table was very friendly and even played peek a boo with our baby from the register area. Place had a nice vibe and was very clean bathrooms included. Definitely will be back and you should go check out this spot!

Driving through…read morefor work I was craving something spicy so decided to look for an Indian or Thai restaurant close to the freeway. This one had good ratings and wasn't too far of the main road, so I took the chance. Swung in and got a seat in the back by the windows. I ordered veg samosa to start with lamb vindaloo & garlic naan for my main. I asked for extra spice. Usually when asked how hot I want my food on a scale of 1-10, if I say anything less than 12 it's not spicy enough. I told them "extra spicy" and my waiter asked if I was sure I wanted it EXTRA spicy and I assured him I did. I have to say this was one of the spiciest dishes I've ever eaten. When I told him extra spicy, I think he told the cook to make me regret being born. After 3 bites, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish it.... the sweat was beading on my forehead and my nose was like a firehose. I powered on. It was too delish not to. The lamb must have been pressure cooked or simmered for days because I've never hand lamb this tender in my life. It melted in my mouth. The rise and naan helped a bit with the heat, but I ordered a mango lassi for good measure. It came with a light dusting of pistaccio and coconut on the top, and was a great cool for the burn. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Omaha. this place did NOT disappoint. Just be careful how spicy you order your dish. :-)

Love the food, service is mediocre at best…read more Loved the tandoori shrimp with poratta as Dan Hoppen suggests, making a taco with the chutney. Butter chicken, naan, etc. were delicious as well as the cocktails. The problem here is the food is amazing and the service is poor. The first time we came here we waited for 30+ minutes PAST our reservation time and were never seated. We were not even offered water or a drink, we asked for the manager and never saw one, and stormed out. We waited a year and went back due to people raving about this place and had a OK time, not the best Indian food in the area but a fresh take, OK service. This trip was back to a less than ideal experience. Waited 15 minutes from seating to get a drink order. Didn't even see wait staff telling us they'd be with us soon. I expected this knowing this place is all good food and poor service, so no surprise. We were greeted AS IF this was totally normal, get your table and wait 15 minutes, so no apologies or acknowledgement that we'd even been sitting and waiting. Quickly ordered drinks apps and the meal proceeded as expected, with a more regular pace. At the end of the meal we want a box, to pay and leave. Again, waiting for a long time with no wait staff helping us. I love the food but you can honestly get better Indian food for WAY less money a mile away, and the staff doesn't treat you like you need them and they don't need you. Atmosphere is decent, but didn't have music playing even though they have speakers I can see. The cost of the restaurant does not match the delivery on the service or ambiance. Not sure if the staff is underpaid, or the leadership doesn't honor quality front of house, but it's a total mismatch. We had 2 sets of silverware and one was rolled normal like, the other was rolled up like 6 inches differentiation because of the poor and inconsistent preparation of the silverware/napkin. This would not fly at most every cheap-o restaurant, but apparently here that's what you get. It really seemed like the staff didn't really care. The price point doesn't match the service. Good food, be prepared to wait and expect you're paying for the food not the service.

I also, thankfully, tried the Malabar Curry w/Chicken and rice. This was very good, reminded me of Saag Chicken in some ways, but this was great, too. I'd give this a 4.8. The vibe is friendly and low key, you don't need to get dressed up here, come as you are. The service was super sweet and attentive throughout our visit. She provided us with included samples of this delicious mango pudding dessert that BLEW my mind - truly. So sweet, creamy, and bright! For my meal, I gave the malai kafta a try, which is one of my go - to choices at Indian restaurants, so I have a strong basis to judge.. and Percy's knocked it out of the park! The veggie balls were soft and smooth when cut open, but firm enough to not fall apart in the sauce. The flavors present were so incredibly warm and rich that I could have simply eaten it like soup! I personally ordered a 4 in spice on their 10 scale, and could have handled a 5 in terms of spice, but staying at a 4 keeps your nose from running! The naan options are super fun, and you can select from plain, cheesy, garlic, and more! I personally went with the cheese naan and it was so full that it was almost like a quesadilla ! That is super rare in my experiences, and I was pleasantly surprised by the heftiness of this naan. Each order is 4 pieces for only a few bucks. My companion ordered an appetizer as a meal, and said they also could have gone spicier - so the lesson here may be to trust your spice tolerance and go just one more notch above what you think you can handle! The creaminess and balance of spices allows everything to melt together rather than be overpowered by one element. I'll definitely be returning to Percys and hope you give it a try! I'll need to order a full order of the mango dessert next time :)
