Located a little off the beaten path there is dedicated parking that makes access pretty easy to this wonderful little restaurant. The former location of a a Japanese Yakiniku restaurant Zaika has made this space their very own. Having never been here before I was excited to give their lunch buffet a try. Buffet is offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 to 2. Menu is available for lunch hours as well as dinner hours. Check their website for details. We were pleasantly greeted by the pleasant restaurant owner who directed us to a wonderful buffet. Not on the buffet, but offered was any type of freshly made naan we preferred. We enjoyed the garlic naan and some soft drinks as this restaurant does not offer alcohol unless the bartender is on duty in the evening. The buffet started with vegetarian options that included fresh fruit, salad items, and condiments. Wonderful vegetarian dishes that offered several types of lentil dishes, zucchini, eggplant, and rice, which were absolutely delicious. The meat area is completely Halal and today's dishes included butter and tandoori chicken options, a goat vindaloo stew that reminded me of beef short rib and was absolutely fabulous, Their meat dumplings were exceptionally delicate what's, and super yummy. We will definitely be back!

Been awhile since I've been to Zaika. Last few times I've tried they were closed. Now I'm not sure if it's new owners or what but they no longer have a liquor license. At lunch today it was somewhat odd. Good but but odd. Waiter is part owner I think. Dressed like he just got out of bed lol... He was nice but I never got my water refilled once. My Palek paneer was very good. Toms of flavor. My mulligatawny soup was unfortunately not good. Was thin and not what you think of when it comes to that soup. It used to be amazing here. Great ambience and the owners/ waiters were extremely friendly.

My recent visit to Zaika left me utterly dismayed and disgusted by the appalling lack of cleanliness and hygiene standards at this establishment. From the moment I entered, it was evident that this was not a place where one could enjoy a meal with peace of mind. The first red flag was the state of the bathroom facilities. Not only were they unkempt and unhygienic, but to my shock and horror, there was fecal matter on the bathroom floor, a sight that no patron should ever have to encounter. This blatant disregard for basic sanitation is not only unacceptable but also poses a serious health hazard to customers and staff alike. Food was mid.

Zaika is excellent, and not just because they're serving up some of the best Indian food in Omaha. It's the way they treat their customers that puts this place over the top. We hit the lunch buffet on a Friday (not a fan of buffets, generally, but that's where Indian food is at its best), and before we could sit down the owner was giving us a pregame walkthrough and a brief synopsis of each dish. Really nice guy, and really, really good food. The "Chicken 65" was the standout among standouts, brimming with flavor and a nice kick. The biryani was almost perfect, as was the tandoori, and the butter chicken was steady. They bring fresh naan to your table, a nice touch, and have several chutneys, spicy relishes and vegetarian options, too. All that for $13? Yeah, we'll keep coming back.

The Garlic Naan and the others are all great!

Place was casual and relaxed. Food was hot and delicious too. We'd go back for sure.

This is our go-to Indian restaurant, starting with take-out during Covid. Got the chance to go inhouse finally and the service was fabulous. The Lahsuhi Gobi apps is a wonderful, nice vegetarian app to get things started. My husband loves the Mixed Biryani, a huge portion that has a full meals worth in the leftovers. I like the chicken tikka masala, the butter chicken, and my new favorite is the Shahi Chicken Korma.

It was a Thursday evening and not very busy. Only two other tables when we were there which really surprised me after tasting the food. They started out with the complimentary papadam with two different sauces a mint chutney and a brown sauce not sure what it is but both great. We started off with the naan bread basket and an another garlic cheese naan definitely didn't need more than the bread basket was a very large portion to split. All were very tasty the garlic was my favorite. I had the Karnali combo biryani which was awesome had the right heat I asked for spice wise and good amount of all the different meats. My wife got the mango masala which she really enjoyed and isn't always the biggest Indian food fan but she ate hers and ate the leftovers the next day as well. My aunt had chicken korma which she raved about as well. My mother tried the malai kofta she had only tried Indian food once many years ago and this experience confirmed she's not a fan and has a bad taste palette haha. I really enjoyed this dish as well and was happy to have the leftovers the next couple days. We ordered her some chicken tenders from the kids menu but those also had some seasonings more cumin I'd say and others that she didn't enjoy but our 14 month old really enjoyed. So if you have a very picky eater maybe go with one of the other kids options. The white creamy sauce that came with my biryani was also bursting with flavor and had a great cooling sensation. The man who served our table was very friendly and even played peek a boo with our baby from the register area. Place had a nice vibe and was very clean bathrooms included. Definitely will be back and you should go check out this spot!

I never thought I'd find Indian food this tasty in the midwest, let alone Omaha. Driving through…read morefor work I was craving something spicy so decided to look for an Indian or Thai restaurant close to the freeway. This one had good ratings and wasn't too far of the main road, so I took the chance. Swung in and got a seat in the back by the windows. I ordered veg samosa to start with lamb vindaloo & garlic naan for my main. I asked for extra spice. Usually when asked how hot I want my food on a scale of 1-10, if I say anything less than 12 it's not spicy enough. I told them "extra spicy" and my waiter asked if I was sure I wanted it EXTRA spicy and I assured him I did. I have to say this was one of the spiciest dishes I've ever eaten. When I told him extra spicy, I think he told the cook to make me regret being born. After 3 bites, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish it.... the sweat was beading on my forehead and my nose was like a firehose. I powered on. It was too delish not to. The lamb must have been pressure cooked or simmered for days because I've never hand lamb this tender in my life. It melted in my mouth. The rise and naan helped a bit with the heat, but I ordered a mango lassi for good measure. It came with a light dusting of pistaccio and coconut on the top, and was a great cool for the burn. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Omaha. this place did NOT disappoint. Just be careful how spicy you order your dish. :-)

The butter chicken had a great flavor, and much more chicken than I expected, or than the picture shows as it was doused in such a great quantity of the sauce! The garlic naan was great as well. The staff was very nice and informative, and the place was clean and had plenty of seating at the time we came on a weeknight. You can tell the food is very authentic by the clientele, and the placement within an Indian market! It is not pricey either, I will definitely be back with friends!

The surprise was the Cheese, not certain the type but melts like mozzarella, more than I expected. Also picked up some raitha, salan, and peanut chutney to dip naan. Love the food, service is mediocre at best…read more Loved the tandoori shrimp with poratta as Dan Hoppen suggests, making a taco with the chutney. Butter chicken, naan, etc. were delicious as well as the cocktails. The problem here is the food is amazing and the service is poor. The first time we came here we waited for 30+ minutes PAST our reservation time and were never seated. We were not even offered water or a drink, we asked for the manager and never saw one, and stormed out. We waited a year and went back due to people raving about this place and had a OK time, not the best Indian food in the area but a fresh take, OK service. This trip was back to a less than ideal experience. Waited 15 minutes from seating to get a drink order. Didn't even see wait staff telling us they'd be with us soon. I expected this knowing this place is all good food and poor service, so no surprise. We were greeted AS IF this was totally normal, get your table and wait 15 minutes, so no apologies or acknowledgement that we'd even been sitting and waiting. Quickly ordered drinks apps and the meal proceeded as expected, with a more regular pace. At the end of the meal we want a box, to pay and leave. Again, waiting for a long time with no wait staff helping us. I love the food but you can honestly get better Indian food for WAY less money a mile away, and the staff doesn't treat you like you need them and they don't need you. Atmosphere is decent, but didn't have music playing even though they have speakers I can see. The cost of the restaurant does not match the delivery on the service or ambiance. Not sure if the staff is underpaid, or the leadership doesn't honor quality front of house, but it's a total mismatch. We had 2 sets of silverware and one was rolled normal like, the other was rolled up like 6 inches differentiation because of the poor and inconsistent preparation of the silverware/napkin. This would not fly at most every cheap-o restaurant, but apparently here that's what you get. It really seemed like the staff didn't really care. The price point doesn't match the service. Good food, be prepared to wait and expect you're paying for the food not the service.

The butter chicken sauce was very red and not what I was traditionally use to. It came with a salad and soup that I tried and tossed. The veg Pakoras were pretty bland as well, but saved by the mint chutney. The naan was just ok. Overall, maybe it would have been a different experience it eaten there, but it is a "no" for me.

The butter chicken was delicious and creamy--we asked for a medium level of spice on everything, and this was the least spicy dish. We had plenty of rice to put this over, and there was even more chicken than I expected in it! The tikka masala was amazing as well--I especially appreciated the pieces of peppers and onion on the sauce which I haven't seen often in this dish! My absolute favorite was the biryani. This was a good amount spicier than the other 2 dishes, and had an INCREDIBLE flavor! One of those that I NEED to have again, but can just tell so much went into it that I will not be recreating this dish on my own... I'll just have to come back for it! The chicken was SO juicy that we thought it was a different protein. I didn't think I'd like the egg on top, but this paired so well that I hard boiled some eggs at home to eat with my leftovers! This dish is so good and saves so well I plan to get one to go every time I'm able to stop in!! The overall vibe inside was larger than I expected--they made great use of the space for plenty of tables and booths. There must be a buffet at times, because a table was set up for this at the front of the shop. The service was great, and fast--very hands off as you would expect from an authentic spot like this. We got to meet the owner who was fantastic at giving us information about the menu/dishes we chose, and what went into the biryani when we gushed over this!! It was great to meet him and learn about what goes into the dishes they serve. I can't leave out the final dish we had which was the mango lassi dessert drink! This was the perfect way to end a spicy meal. This had a very sweet and real mango flavor, with plenty of creamy yogurt to tone down the spices. I only wish I could make this at home after eating all this biryani! I HIGHLY recommend stopping in if you haven't yet! You could tell they put a lot of effort into their food. We got about 4-5 spice (medium) and I wouldn't go higher, it was perfect as someone who likes spice but not overpowering. My favorite bite would have to be the chicken tikka marsala and the biryani. Overall what an amazing find! Definitely one of my top places to grab Indian food here in Omaha.
