    Vindaloo Chicken

I finally got the chance to watch out at Shahi Indian Grill and I can't wait to go back! I ordered the spicy chicken vindaloo with a piece of garlic naan. The naan was so amazing we ended up ordering two more to take home with leftovers. I also ordered hot chai which was fantastic. The inside of the restaurant is really nice with booth and table seating. The waiter was very friendly and was quick to refill chai and water whenever we were running low.

I had the chicken tikka marsala with a spice level 3 and it was delicious and the perfect amount of spicy for me! The food portion is great and they packed up another box of rice for us to take home with our leftovers. We also had the garlic naan which was delicious! The service was excellent. Our server was very nice and came back to fill our waters up frequently. The look and feel of the place was great too. It wasn't cold and I'm always cold in restaurants. The waterfall created a nice noise alongside the music that was playing at just the right volume.

Everything was tasty and the staff were friendly. The Chana saag was 7-7.5/10. The vegetable korma was about the same. Good experience. Very happy they are able to make dishes vegan and the vegetable kormas seems to already come that way which isn't always the case! I would definitely come back

Good food and outstanding service! A great option for dining if you're in the Gene Leahy mall area in downtown. A great selection of Indian bread as well as vegan options on their menu. I recommend the garlic naan and the lamb korma. Some parts of the place can use a little refresh, but overall a great spot to wine and dine.

Indian is my favorite type of food, and unfortunately Shahi did not pass the test. My go-to dishes at new places are either madras or vindaloo, so here I tried chicken vindaloo. They need to change the menu wording--it is not "very hot" but rather pretty bland, and soupy; to me vindaloo should be more of a paste. The fact that it was tossed in a smooth creamy tomato sauce seemed like it was more of an instant (not homemade) base for the curry like you get in frozen Indian dishes, or perhaps they use it for multiple dishes. There was enough chicken, but the sauce ruined it for me. Garlic naan was underwhelming as well and seemed like a frozen kind. Soup was also not included with entrees which is another downside, although according to their menu their mulligatawny has meat in it, so I'm not sure about that...it shouldn't. Ambiance is pretty fancy, and we came at a pretty slow time before heading to the Orpheum to a show, and service was okay. Best part of the meal for me was sadly my Taj Mahal. I won't be back here.

Visited Omaha for the first time. Like any place I visit, I tried the local Indian restaurant. I have to say that this is a great place with awesome food, attentive service and cool ambience. We tried a lot of different dishes. All the dishes were delicious and very nicely spiced. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Omaha. Kamala was an awesome host.

Ive always gotten take out from here but this was my first time actually dining in the restaurant! It's really pretty on the inside. The service was very fast and out server was really nice as well. I got the combo app because i wanted to try a little of everything. The mint chutney and mango chutney complemented the fried apps really well. For my main meal, I got the madras chicken. It was really good, and the taste of coconut was not strong and over powering at all. I also liked how they label which of their menu items were dairy free!

I really lovveed the atmosphere of this restaurant. The dim red lights, cool air, and the buzz of people talking created a nice, relaxed vibe. The staff were super friendly, we were seated quickly, and the restaurant was very clean. My favorite part was the outdoor seating area overlooking the quiet downtown streets. It was a great place to sit and enjoy the evening. We went in and instantly ordered the chicken and pork momos - 10 each. There was a long 15 -20 min wait because it was quiet late and they wanted to make them fresh but as soon as they came out - my heart filled with so much joy and excitement because they looked and tasted absolutely authentic and were priced right- $15 each. The wrappers were thin yet sturdy, had a well seasoned moist filling that tasted fresh and home made. The chutney it was served with, felt like it was bought from Nepal - it was spicy, smokey and tangy and really complimented the momos. Your train should definitely stop at this station without fail!!! They are a complete flavor bomb.

Our server was very kind and helpful, as neither of us are familiar with Nepalese cuisine. The lunch menu is quite limited - your food options are aloo chops, which are deep fried crispy potato patties and fried/steamed momos (Nepalese dumplings) in pork, chicken, or vegan. We ordered the aloo chops and steamd pork + chicken momos. Everything was delicious! I'd recommend getting all four sauces too - they really add to the momos. Pricing was very fair as well. Definitely worth a visit!

I was seriously craving Indian food while visiting Omaha during Memorial Day weekend, and luckily,…read moreKarnali was the only Indian restaurant open nearby that day. We reached the restaurant around 3:30 - 4 PM for a late lunch, and there were a few people dining inside. The restaurant was very clean, the tables were well arranged, and the Indian music playing in the background gave the place a nice cozy vibe. We started with the tandoori chicken and then ordered garlic naan, butter chicken, and two chais for the main meal. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, but it was different from the typical restaurant-style tandoori chicken. It tasted more homemade with regular spices, without the bright red color or smoky restaurant flavor. Still, it was really good. The best part of the meal was actually the sauce served with the chicken. It tasted like a spicy tomato-onion gravy, almost similar to butter chicken sauce, and honestly, I wish the butter chicken we took later had been cooked in that same sauce because it was delicious. The butter chicken was tasty overall - rich and creamy, though the garlic naan could have been better. The naan felt a little too dry and could have used more butter. The chai at the end was ok because it had a bit too much spice and tasted more milky than tea. The service was decent as well. The server was friendly, but while taking our order he wasn't writing anything down and had to ask us to repeat a few things, so that was a little awkward. The food arrived in about 10 minutes, which was pretty quick. One thing to note is that we had to place the chai order along with the food because the server mentioned it takes around 15 minutes or more to prepare. I did feel that the pricing was slightly higher compared to the quality and portion sizes. The tandoori chicken was around $17 ,the butter chicken was about $19 and the Naans $4 each and chais were around $4 each, so the total came close to $55 + w tax or more. Personally, I don't think the food completely matched the pricing and was mediocre. Overall, I had a decent experience and really appreciate that they were open on Memorial Day because they definitely satisfied my Indian food craving. I would definitely recommend trying the tandoori chicken appetizer, especially with the sauce they serve alongside it. I would give the restaurant a solid 3 out of 5 stars.

It was a Thursday evening and not very busy. Only two other tables when we were there which really surprised me after tasting the food. They started out with the complimentary papadam with two different sauces a mint chutney and a brown sauce not sure what it is but both great. We started off with the naan bread basket and an another garlic cheese naan definitely didn't need more than the bread basket was a very large portion to split. All were very tasty the garlic was my favorite. I had the Karnali combo biryani which was awesome had the right heat I asked for spice wise and good amount of all the different meats. My wife got the mango masala which she really enjoyed and isn't always the biggest Indian food fan but she ate hers and ate the leftovers the next day as well. My aunt had chicken korma which she raved about as well. My mother tried the malai kofta she had only tried Indian food once many years ago and this experience confirmed she's not a fan and has a bad taste palette haha. I really enjoyed this dish as well and was happy to have the leftovers the next couple days. We ordered her some chicken tenders from the kids menu but those also had some seasonings more cumin I'd say and others that she didn't enjoy but our 14 month old really enjoyed. So if you have a very picky eater maybe go with one of the other kids options. The white creamy sauce that came with my biryani was also bursting with flavor and had a great cooling sensation. The man who served our table was very friendly and even played peek a boo with our baby from the register area. Place had a nice vibe and was very clean bathrooms included. Definitely will be back and you should go check out this spot!

The menu I received was a bit differently presented than the one online and was an odd read; it seemed to be trying to organize into themes of how dishes were cooked rather than their contents. But it was actually a bit challenging to find the staple dish I ordered, channa masala, as it was in tiny text under the wok section. I might rethink the menu design. There were some fairly detailed descriptions regarding special dietary needs. Service wasn't quite on point, as our server kept offering us a choice of salad that they did not have, and I ordered a chai and didn't get it (I was stuffed regardless). Substantively, however, the result was excellent. Their samosas specifically state they're made with red potatoes, and it feels like a bit of a local flavor twist on the classic (and indeed, despite their ubiquity in Indian cuisine, potatoes are of course an American plant). My channa masala had a robust flavor mix with visible whole spices and the chickpeas were relatively al dente and paired well with bread. There were other options, but their rendition of classics made for an enjoyable night.

The menu is extensive, especially for a vegetarian who is accustomed to slim pickings. The vibe is friendly and low key, you don't need to get dressed up here, come as you are. The service was super sweet and attentive throughout our visit. She provided us with included samples of this delicious mango pudding dessert that BLEW my mind - truly. So sweet, creamy, and bright! For my meal, I gave the malai kafta a try, which is one of my go - to choices at Indian restaurants, so I have a strong basis to judge.. and Percy's knocked it out of the park! The veggie balls were soft and smooth when cut open, but firm enough to not fall apart in the sauce. The flavors present were so incredibly warm and rich that I could have simply eaten it like soup! I personally ordered a 4 in spice on their 10 scale, and could have handled a 5 in terms of spice, but staying at a 4 keeps your nose from running! The naan options are super fun, and you can select from plain, cheesy, garlic, and more! I personally went with the cheese naan and it was so full that it was almost like a quesadilla ! That is super rare in my experiences, and I was pleasantly surprised by the heftiness of this naan. Each order is 4 pieces for only a few bucks. My companion ordered an appetizer as a meal, and said they also could have gone spicier - so the lesson here may be to trust your spice tolerance and go just one more notch above what you think you can handle! The creaminess and balance of spices allows everything to melt together rather than be overpowered by one element. I'll definitely be returning to Percys and hope you give it a try! I'll need to order a full order of the mango dessert next time :)
