We were visiting from out of town and looking to try something new. Our Omaha family had a good experience with this restaurant before but the food was pretty mediocre. Everyone who ordered chicken said it was tough, speculating it had been over cooked. The curry flavors were mixed. My chicken vindaloo was not too spicy but heat was the only flavor I tasted. My fiancé ordered the tiki masala and it was much better. The portions are big so that was about the only plus for the main dishes. We all loved the garlic naan so we do recommend that. I saw that this place offered a lunch buffet and it was also conveniently across our apartment, so my partner and I decided to give this place a try! The interior was very modern and classy looking, added with classical music playing in the background, making the ambience very sophisticated, yet casual. Our waiter seated us and after starting us off with water, explained to us about the buffet. We got a small portion of everything so that we could taste the whole menu. My favorite was the coconut fish curry. It was so flavorful and the fish was tender! Overall, I had a good dining experience here. Stopping in for Flavors awesome weekend Buffet! Located on Farnam Street just west of the Old Market, Flavors is a little off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trek. Metered street parking is available. Our favorite time to come is for the Buffet, which is offered on Fridays and Saturdays only between 11 and 2 PM. There are always a number of delicious goodies that rotate on a fairly regular basis so not everything is always the same. Today we enjoyed a variety of delicious entrées. The number of rice dishes has increased and proteins decreased, but not sure if that's necessarily a regular thing or just today only. Plan to go back again so I can calibrate! Food was spot on for Indian cuisine. We were hoping for the lunch buffet, but that is only on Friday & Saturdays. I ordered the Chicken Kadai which was noted spicy, but I didn't think it was. The chicken has a good mix of the flavors: onions, tomatoes, ginger, & garlic; nothing too powerful or stood out, just tasted really good. Of course every order should be put in with an order of Naan bread to complete the meal. All 4 of us enjoyed the dine in experience, other than the loud door opening & closing. The name Flavors sets the expectation for a great-tasting meal, and I'm glad to say that it is deserving of the name. My go-to Indian meal is saag paneer, and it was excellent. Nice complex flavor, no bitter taste like this dish can sometimes have. A creamy taste. Sauce is completely puréed, and the paneer has a pleasantly firm texture. My dining companions were really happy with the lamb curry, butter paneer, and the chicken dish my husband ordered but I immediately forgot the name of. Portions were not huge, but were large enough that we all brought leftovers home. The only drawback to here that I can think of is that parking might be difficult to find, and is not free. Since we were already downtown that wasn't a concern for us. They have a weekend buffet, which I'm sure is delicious. Personally I don't love buffets, as the cost is a little higher, but mostly because I like to have leftovers from a regular meal to eat later (or for breakfast). Starving from an 8 hour drive across the state, we were craving a big meal with...well...flavor. Flavors delivered top to bottom. I have no photos to post because the plates were being consumed as they arrived. The butter chicken was incredible, with a curry that had bits of onion that added a little extra. The paneer was awesome but the vegetable biriyani was the ultimate complement to the curry's we ordered. Be warned, the biriyani serving is hefty. The restaurant itself was clean and spacious. Very accommodating. Our server was super sweet and made us feel like we were dining in her home. If you're looking for some quality Indian food in downtown Omaha, don't pass this up. so this place, I only went to once we did not dine. We actually ordered it to go. I ordered the goat curry. It was very delicious. One thing that I had issues with was like some of the spices and seasoning was in there. I thought it was the actual meat, and I tried to chew it and good thing. I didn't swallow it because it was part of the spices. The meat does have some of the bones in it should be very careful with that. Flavors is always outstanding!! My wife and I go regularly. I love the tandoori chicken and the biryani rice varieties are outstanding. If you want a cocktail or a beer you can get that as well. The restaurant is quaint and cozy a little bright for me, but the food makes all that go away. My wife love the chicken korma. Flavors has really gone downhill. It used to be fantastic. The Friday lunch buffet is almost 18 dollars, and the food is terrible. It's very salty and tastes funny. The naan has some weird herb on it, the mint chutney tastes like some sort of cleaning solution. What little was left of the meat was very dry. The buffet was pretty much empty. The staff was busy, but very nice. No one came to check on my table. The restaurant doesn't appear to be taken care of very well. The price was not worth what was offered. I think it has gone through several different owners, and they just can't get it right. I haven't had this great of Indian food since I left California. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Misala, which I will admit I over ate for one person but it was worth it. The chicken tender and the sauce it marinated in creamy. The garlic naan was also amazing, a nice mix of fluffy with thin crunchy parts for texture. We did however get a WIDE range of eats, from their garlic naan, to the chicken curry, tikka marsala, their "special" vegetable rice and chai tea. I had the good fortune of finding Flavors Indian restaurant my first night in Omaha within walking distance from the hotel. I ordered a Saag with chicken, bullet naan, and rice to go. Service was fast and the food was amazing! Traditional authentic style Indian cuisine without any "fusion" or modern twist. Unfortunately my second night in Omaha was a Sunday and Flavors was closed so I tried another Indian restaurant which was ok and had me wishing it was Monday. Monday night and I just got back from Flavors. I dined in this time. Great atmosphere and music, friendly people and amazing food of course. Clean, affordable, and delicious. I don't normally preorder, but did and they didn't have the order. However, they made it right away. I know they're clearly different dishes, but don't recall if I had the lamb vindaloo or the lamb rogan Josh, but it was great. I normally order max heat, but I stepped it down because I was sharing. I would say the heat level was accurate for 7/10. I also ordered garlic na'an and it was equally as good. I should have ordered a side of mint chutney for the na'an. read more

We ordered 4 entrees and naans- we all enjoyed the food, the flavors were a little mild on the butter chicken but overall it was tasty. We rice was plentiful and the naan was good. I think naan made fresh, because the restaurant was a bit smokey, (a little irritating to the eyes). Service was a little slow, short staffed but they were very friendly. When they ask you what level of spice you want, if you are a middle of the line person, go lite. Their medium is very hot. Overall this is a top 5 place for Naan bread and we qill for sure be returning for their buffet. read more

This is quite the gem! One concern I had with moving to Omaha was the strength of its restaurant scene. I've been craving Indian food for a while now (it's a little too involved for me to roast AND simmer something for one dish, so I tend to go out for Indian). First and foremost, the prices here are phenomenal! I was on a streak of dining at expensive restaurants (partly to impress dates, partly because I just missed fine dining), and dining here was a perfect reminder that a great dinner need not run up a $200 tab. As for the food itself, if you like vindaloo (lamb vindaloo is my go-to), the vindaloo here is about as spicy as the Trader Joe's lamb vindaloo. Maaaybe slightly spicier. Definitely not as spicy as I would have liked it. And the ratio of lamb to potatoes was definitely 75-80% lamb 20-25% potato, so the value is there. I've never had goat sukha before, but the picture of it on the menu (kind of like a bone-in short rib) really caught my eye, so I gave it a try. My date had the butter chicken. And we had naan because, well, naan is freaking delicious, and Indian food just doesn't feel right without it. The butter chicken looked like a tikka sauce but tasted like a brown butter sauce. The flavor totally messed with my mind, in a good way. The sukha... well... I loved the way it tasted. But I would NOT order this on a first date. I'd order this for carry out so that you can bring it home, hold the meat/bones with your hands, get your sauce face on, and spit out little bone pieces. Like an animal. Trying to sample it while maintaining appearances was a challenge, to say the least. Also, I thought it was kind of gamey. But I've also never had goat before, so what do I know. Moral of the story: don't try eating goat sukha in mixed company. Unless you're with your wife. In that case, game on, because she's stuck with you! read more
