Once inside, I asked for hot tea--pretty standard at most Japanese spots--only to be told they were completely out, which was surprising. And then what I came to learn was the former lunch buffet room is in a sunken area, dimly lit, the empty buffet just there like some relic from another time five years ago. I love it. No pretense. That's an ambiance all its own. I came here hoping to eat good food at a reasonable price and I left having eaten really, really good food at a reasonable price with great service. Not for the color scheme. I'd never had Raita before and I liked it a lot. It was actually a really good compliment to the just right for me medium spicy Korma. The chicken was tender, the rice was great, and the sauce was so good I scraped the dish to get the last out because I didn't order any naan. By that time one new diner had been seated. The meal with tax was $15.xx, I paid $20 with tip. I wish I had known about this place in better times, when there would have been a buffet, but I'm going to try to run the buffet the manual way and try everything on the menu.
