Yanagi Ramen is a solid addition to the area and a place I'd definitely return to. While it wasn't the most mind-blowing ramen I've ever had, it was genuinely good--especially for the location--and clearly hits the spot when you're craving something warm and comforting. I really appreciated the variety of vegetarian options, which felt thoughtfully done rather than like an afterthought. My bowl was flavorful and well-balanced, though worth noting: even after asking for heat, it wasn't spicy at all, so spice lovers may want to temper expectations. That said, the experience had a bit of a rough start. We arrived right at the posted opening time (11am) and ended up waiting outside in the freezing cold, unsure if they were actually open. We had to call to confirm, and only then did someone come to unlock the door. Once inside, I asked for hot tea--pretty standard at most Japanese spots--only to be told they were completely out, which was surprising. All things considered, Yanagi Ramen delivers a dependable bowl with good vegetarian choices and a clean, modern space. A few opening-hour kinks and missing basics kept it from being great, but the food itself was enjoyable, and I'd happily come back--just not for spice, and hopefully next time with hot tea ready to go. read more

I enjoyed this meal! I got the spicy tonkatsu and tried the curry ramen. Both were pretty enjoyable. The meat was nice and charred and thick. My only thing is that the soup could have been slightly warmer and with a smidge more broth. I usually don't like a tone of broth but this was a little lacking (see photo). My friend got the seafood ramen and it looked really bad. He said it came cold which was confirmed with another person who tried the soup. The shrimp looked very overcooked and the scallops were tiny. We also tried the calamari and the takoyaki. The takoyai wasn't very good and the calamari also wasn't great but the sauce saved it a little. We also tried the white peach sake which didn't taste like alcohol at all. The hot teas and sodas are refills as well. Service was nice and the interior is very pretty and modern. read more

The black garlic ramen here is seriously incredible. The flavor is rich, bold, and full of deep flavor with the perfect balance of garlic and savory taste. You can tell it's been cooked with care because every bite tastes authentic and comforting. The noodles have the perfect texture, the pork is tender, and the toppings all work so well together. Easily some of the best ramen I've had in town. Their sushi is also really fresh and well made, which makes the menu even better. The restaurant itself is very clean, relaxing, and has a great atmosphere. Friendly staff and consistently amazing food every time! read more

Yanagi Ramen made fans of me and my girls back on July 20, 2024. This modern Asian restaurant is in a newer plaza of Lubbock, TX. We were seated right away and had very nice, fast service. We ordered: Edamame $4.99 Black garlic ramen $13.99 Seafood ramen Edamame $16.99 Build your own ramen $14.99 I liked how they served an empty bowl on top of the little green boiled soybeans. This not only kept them moist from the kitchen to the table, but instead of using the same plate upon which they were served we used the bowl to discard the empty shells. I highly recommend the black garlic ramen. I had pork with mine. Their pork was very tender and delicate. The bowl was quite the chore for me to finish so I'd probably skip the edamame next time. Lol. The only thing that disappointed me was the women's restroom which was a single room with the toilet and sink. I do not think a single restroom particularly for women was enough especially when I simply needed to wash my hands. Great stop for lunch. Free, ample parking out front. read more

The food was excellent! I ordered the fried rice, pork belly buns, noodles, and sushi. They all had excellent flavor and I will be back for the pork belly buns and sushi for sure. The service was great. Our waitress was such a sweet soul and was very tentative to our needs. The ambience was nice and chill. Overall the restaurant was very clean and elegant looking. I can't wait to come back and try this place for its' Ramen. read more

Ramen 10/10- packed with flavor, perfect heat. If I returned it would be just for the ramen only Jalapeno bomb 2/10- lacked any flavor and hard crunch jalapeno. Zero crab taste and only cream cheese with no flavor. Pork buns 6/10- lacked flavor and minimal amount of meat for nearly $10 for two buns. We each had one slice of meat. Cups- the cup I had still had lipstick on it, husbands had food on rim. Clearly thrown in dishwasher and not actually scrubbed. Forks had food stuck to them. Bathrooms were yucky. It was cold outside but so hot inside it was uncomfortable with people fanning themselves. read more

This is hands-down the best Ramen in Lubbock. Talk about authentic! On my first visit, I didn't actually have ramen. Rather it was the chicken katsudon that really called to me. That wasn't bad. The rice was high quality, but I knew I had to give them another shot to try out the ramen for an honest and true assessment. Cue visit number two. I led in with the perfectly pan-seared gyoza, the best way to start any ramen experience. These were absolutely incredible. Then the ramen. I had the spicy curry ramen and it was flawless! All the right ingredients and proportions. A perfect broth with the right amount of creamy and oily to it. The only thing that would have improved it would have been a bottle of shichimi togarashi on the table. Their menu also features a ton of other sides, starters, hibachi, and sushi. One particular roll had me very interested, so I'll be back for that, never mind the ramen. Prices are average and well worth it for great food. Staff was also great and friendly. Highly recommended for your ramen fix! read more

This review is from a visit in December of 2023. Solid ramen option in Lubbock, been consistent since the last time we came. BMW roll hits, and chicken katsudon is delicious with a nice fluffy omelet underneath. You know when you go to a restaurant a couple times and then it starts to become a staple because you can vouch for its consistency and quality? That's where we're at with Yanagi-- great Japanese food for a good price that'll always hit on a rainy day. Competes well with Asian hotspot ramen places in LA or Dallas. We haven't had that ever in Lubbock, so I'm very happy with this restaurant. read more

Yanagi's is a nice, new place with subtle asian decor. The menu was full of options. The server didn't get the build-your-own ramen bowls correct, but the other food was delicious. Not everybody in my party liked the food, so I'll have to return on my own for a chance to try some more tasty food. read more

Okay first it was the ambience. VERY nice and modern. The interior itself is ART. Then we had a very nice young lady ( we think her name was Carli) attending to our every need and question as she waited on us ... and then the food was just delicious. We were shocked at how completely satisfied we were though we really had not had any friends tip us off about the place. I suggested it and my wife said oh okay but arent they all the same... with waving good luck cat decoration etc? I suggested we gamble and taste the food. We loved it and we will be back. Would recommend to anybody. read more

the food really is fantastic i love the make your own ramen. however, that's the only reason there are stars at all. i went to this restaurant and the waiter we had was clearly high. reeked of the stuff and didn't do a good job. very creepy vibe as well. i feel like the managers would be able to tell this but i guess not. read more

I had the black garlic Ramen and it had no flavor whatsoever, and not even a hint of garlic present. My beautiful girlfriend had the California and avocado roll and they both as well did not have any flavor. The most flavor we had was with the edamame and that was after several dashes of additional salt. Would not recommend and will not be going again. read more

This place surprised me. 3 of us went and all really liked everything. We had the tempura and buns for app and they were very good. I had the house ramen and it was good. The lady waitress was friendly as can be, and not annoying. I was a bit nervous walking in, the location is just not a place you'd picture a good ramen place to be. But it was all worth it. And looked so modern inside. Need something good and casual, try this place, it will be worth it. read more

There might be better Ramen places out there, but I wouldn't know. Loved everything about what I ordered. Couldn't tell you what I ordered was called but it was so good. Spicy pork broth with pork. Tuna bowl was good per my wife and my daughter loved her chicken broth with grilled chicken and noodles. I also ordered a beef egg roll and really enjoyed it with the sauce. The restaurant was super clean with friendly service. read more

I moved to Lubbock from Austin and thought I would never find a Tonkotsu Ramen as good as they serve in the ATX. Of the several Ramen spots in LBK I have tried, Yanagi's "Signature" is the best I have found in LBK, it is miles ahead of it's competition. 5/5 would definitely recommend. read more

Best ramen in town, if they can stay consistent the food quality will carry them. Went once for lunch and once during dinner hours. Dinner had some nice volume, service is very casual with no service etiquette but the food makes up for it. Sushi, bao buns, and ramen all top notch and authentic. P.s. they have sake and beer but it's not in the menu so you'll have to ask. read more
