Khalil at the deli has excellent customer service. I ordered a lot of stuff from him...well I have six mouths to feed. Lol This Safeway has always been my favorite. Even when I had an issue where a cashier. The management handled the situation appropriately. Every department is great here. The fruit and vegetables are always fresh. I remember when the pandemic was raging...I could always count on the produce section at this location. The seafood department is always great too.

Store allows loose garbage to be dumped apparently by their delivery drivers around the loading dock. I called to ask them to clean it up and the manager said "that's a shared dumpster" and hung up on me. It's hard enough keeping rodents and bugs away when you live near a supermarket. Health code violations and loose garbage don't help. It's been there at least four days.

Groceries left at the bottom of steps while it was beginning to rain because this 81 y/o woman refused to help delivery person.

I would imagine that being a grocery delivery contractor is a side hustle for so many people. And I feel because this is not their primary source of income they lack commitment to perform their jobs with pride and integrity. My groceries were delivered by a very small and dainty female who arrived at my house thinking she should get help bring my groceries up to my front porch. So she called my cell phone demanding who is going to help with these groceries. She didn't wait to confront me face to face. My reply was I am not going to help because I am 81 years old. This is the reason why I order my groceries online. If you can't do the job or if you don't want to handled that many grocery bags why are you delivering groceries. Because I wouldn't assist this small dainty female she left my groceries at the bottom of my steps and on the concrete pavement while it was beginning to rain. She stayed parked in front of my house while I struggled to bring each bag up the steps. The windows to her car were tinted so I couldn't see what she was actually doing. But it almost appeared like she was waiting for me to do something stupid so she could video record my actions on her phone. I am almost positive she was recording me while I was doing her job bringing my groceries unto my porch. In between bringing the groceries on the porch I was also trying to contact Safeway Customer Service but unable to get through. The recording repeated it's message over and over not responding when I selected #8 on the key pad for Customer Service. I finally gave up and later that day after calming down was able to file a complaint with Customer Service. In my observation the female delivery people are looking for help from customers because of their gender. Maybe male customer jump at the opportunity to help because they are trying to connect on a personal level (hookup). The bottom line if you can't or don't want to do the job why don't you find work more suitable to your lazy work habits. The delivery service is not free the delivery driver's tip is calculated according to the total amount of groceries purchased. I feel Safeway should be more selective in who they partner with to deliver their product. Due to my frustration and anger. I stooped to her level and I had some very choice words for her.

Peaches with visitors

For having such a high volume of customers, I'm always amazed at the old, low quality of the fruits and vegetables, when they're in stock.

As expected for a Safeway store. Long lines and poor customer service were unfortunate.

She told me to let them know she sent me, which I definitely did. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised because the place reminded me of a cute diner with a small market/convenience store twist. I loved that they also support and showcase products from small business owners. The young lady who took my order was so polite, friendly, and easy to order with. The other employees were also super nice and welcoming. I also learned that they have a fish fry every other Friday (and there's one happening tomorrow )! They're celebrating their 1-year anniversary in September, and I will definitely be there to help them celebrate! Now, let's talk about the food! I ordered the fried oyster mushroom po'boy without the bread and substituted fries for the mac and cheese. The mushrooms are made fresh to order, and you could definitely taste the freshness. The crunch from those mushrooms was SO loud, crispy, and delicious! And that mac and cheese? BABY! They did their BIG ONE with that! It was so good that I immediately called my friend, but I could barely get the words out. She already knew exactly what I was trying to say because the food spoke for itself! I also had to share with my wife while she was at work, and she could not stop eating it. There was so much food that I was actually able to give her the rest! Please support this business! We WANT and NEED to keep them open. This is such a major move and a great addition to the area. Go show them some love and support this amazing local spot!

Not only do they provide fresh produce and other high quality goods for purchase... they also offer products made right in the District Of Columbia ( including our world renowned Mumbo sauce !!! ) The true kicker is the Marion Barry Avenue Market receives its fresh produce from a home grown farm right here in Washington DC ( Thank you to the Dreaming Out Loud Nonprofit Organization who actually runs two in-house farms in DC ) The other incentive when patronizing this awesome community based Market, is they have a cozy dine-in area where you can enjoy a delicious hot meal. The menu includes breakfast, lunch and dinner options... from breakfast sandwiches, salad options to pan seared salmon ( note: they also have vegan dishes ) The service is friendly and ready to assist... and the over all atmosphere gives you that I'm right at home feeling ( literally ) Now that I'm fully aware of this community gem, there's no doubt that this will become my go to when grocery shopping.

Honestly, this was one of the best supermarkets I have been in for a while. One down side here is that it is located in a rather cramped space. The aisles are narrow and if you a claustrophobic, this might not be the spot for you. Even though it is a smaller space, they do have a wide variety of items to choose from. It was a nice experience and it was great to see that this is used by so many people. I only stopped in here one night to grab a few things and there were enough people in here to make it known it is a great asset in the area. I grabbed my items, made it to the front, had a small wait in line, but it was worth it. The employee that was working was super pleasant and definitely made it a better experience.
