I love the cheap groceries here and so does everyone else that regularly comes here, but that's a lot of people! So beware of very busy times and running out of goods. Anyone from Germany or the Midwest of the US knows Aldi's great reputation for lower prices than mainstream groceries and how they try to have quality products. My regular purchases here include some produce, meat/chicken, milk, eggs, kombucha, and frozen pizza, yum! The snacks are also great. I particularly like how the ALDI Finds and deals section include seasonal products that change every week. It's what keeps me coming, anticipating a good deal. I've gotten some random items for household goods, pet goods, electronics, small appliances, etc. This location has the newer look that ALDI has been going for but it doesn't always have the products that are listed on the flyer. I find one or two things occasionally not sold at this location. Also, this location always has youngins outside offering to help you with your groceries in hopes of gaining the quarter from your cart, or more. It's never bothered me and I've appreciated the help at times. However, some people are turned off by it. It's a good gig and I've never been disrespected so it's cool with me.

I love my Aldi. Me and Aldi will never part, LOL! Seriously, I'm a BIG foodie and eat a lot, so I'm always looking for great deals to save on my food budget and stretch my money as far as possible since i'm way to lazy to seriously coupon. I do my weekly shopping at Aldi and my biweekly shopping at other grocery stores. Aldi has a decent wine selection, cheese, and organic products. I usually stick to purchasing produce, frozen fruit, quiona and eggs plus the basic staples such as flour, baking soda, baking powder, etc. I always check their circulars online prior to shopping. It's best to go earlier in the day because they don't replenish throughout the day (at least at the locations I've patronized) so if you go later in the evening all the items have already been picked over. Aldi has a great "double guarantee" policy which means, they guarantee the freshness of your product or they'll replace it for free plus refund your purchase price. Since I've been shopping here for the past 1.5 years, I've only had to return fruit that went bad in a couple of days after purchasing. The customer service at this particular location needs major improvement. Almost every person seems miserable and look like a bird pooped on their brand new shoes. Anyway, for the affordable prices of Aldi, I'm willing to deal with the rude ass workers. They don't take credit, so make sure you have a debit card or cash and bring your own bags!

Came here to pick up some grapes because they were on sale. Plenty of parking, lots of people, small grocery store with pretty good prices.

SECRET KOREAN GROCERY! Ok, hidden in plain sight in Eastern Market. Authentic kimchee and…read morepre-marinated beef Bulgogi sold here. The kimchee is either cabbage and cucumber, and comes in small (a little bigger than a deck of cards $3) or large (the size of a day planner, approx 8.5"x5" $6) Plus, the couple who runs the place is so nice and helpful, and super quick! Sometimes the lady gives me a sample of freshly made kimchee if she's cooking in the back which is mmm :) And the bulgogi ($6/lb I believe) is amazing. Foolproof, and an easy way to pretend that you're an impressive cook. These guys are the first produce section inside when you're coming to Eastern Market from the metro. They always have beautiful displays of a good selection of fruits and veggies (prices are a little on the steeper side in general, but that's Eastern Market for you). I usually swing by here if I need a last minute lemon/garlic/parsnip/leek/etc after work, but I usually shy away from it on weekends when it's packed. Also, veggies/fruits in season are reasonably priced here and better quality than what you would find at Harris Teeter or Safeway. They also have a mini-grocery with staples and sauces. If you have no car and can't get out to H mart or Wegman's, this place has a good selection of Asian cooking sauces. Lentils were $3/bag here though, so I would stay away from other cheap staples unless absolutely necessary. Tip: Make sure to bring your reusable bag so they don't charge that new DC bag tax (they're strict at this place). Yes, you will get a banana and be expected to either hold it or bring your own bag. Location: the most Southern end of the South Hall. Also labeled as Paik's produce, and right next to Fine Sweet Shop.

We had spent 30 minutes wandering the market but quickly realized what a terrible idea that is on an empty stomach. After selecting a few stalks of their crisp, red rhubarb, while at the register we began eying the large, fresh-looking to-go containers of bibimbap, including a big scoop of white rice and a wide array of sauteed and fresh vegetables - one came with tofu (my selection) and the other option with beef (my husband's choice). Each lunch portion was $6.99. Both were delicious and refreshing. The accompanying chili paste had just the right amount of heat. We both finished our entire meals (and one fresh-squeeze raspberry lemonade from another vendor outside) sitting in the shade in the small square out back. Exactly what I was looking for for Saturday lunch.

tldr: small but sweet spot. a nice place to visit once, and a great produce stop if you're local…read more we only spent under an hour, so i wouldn't make a special drive, but i'd happily go back if i'm nearby. AMBIANCE it's a small farm but a nice one. the flower and plant section is huge, and the plants were cute and fairly priced. not expensive, not a steal, just normal. the pumpkin area is also bigger than it sounds because they have a LOT of pumpkins, and they had some really huge ones, which i've never seen at a pumpkin patch before and was honestly the most fun part. SERVICE everyone was very friendly. it's also nice to see they employ young adults, which feels good to support. FOOD the small store has fresh produce plus unique butters, sauces, condiments, apple cider, treats, ice cream, and donuts. they only sell donuts by the dozen, so we didn't get any, but we left with sauces and candy. if i lived in the area i'd come back mainly for the plants.

They have seemingly every pumpkin and gourd one could imagine, from the perfectly round classics to the wonderfully odd little varieties that look destined for a harvest-themed centrepiece. There is plenty to wander around and see, and everyone working there is consistently kind, helpful, and happy to point you in the right direction. Beyond the pumpkins, they have loads of fresh produce, prepared foods, snacks, and products from local companies. It genuinely feels like you could walk in with no dinner plan whatsoever and leave with everything needed to cook an entire meal. The animals are another charming part of the experience and make the visit feel like more than just a shopping trip. Between the seasonal displays, local goodies, produce, and friendly atmosphere, Nalls is a thoroughly lovely neighborhood stop and one of my favourite places to visit in autumn.

I like getting some organic stuff from here because the price is way better than what I would pay at some of the major grocery store chains. I also enjoy trying some of their private label foods. Honestly, I can't say I've had anything bad yet. They also have some of the brands you recognize as well. This store is clean, well organized and I've had positive experiences with the employees here. I've been to another Aldi location and I can't say all of those same things. And I told her I know and she said "you have to pay for them" and I was super annoyed I threw the receipts and told her to see her to pay it, this is so absurd, she is trusting me instead of taking care of the store that products are not stolen, is it serious that you will be on top of a person checking and accusing that he has not paid a bag of 14 cents? Seriously!? I haven't had problems with any guard other than just her and it's annoying The other thing is that there are many drunks in that place and when you don't give them the cart or don't give them money they tell you things

I'd walk there most Sundays, buying breakfast from the man who made fried chicken and biscuits. Then I'd stop and visit with Mrs. Calomiris. I called her, "Mrs." because it wouldn't have occurred to me to call her "Maria," and "Mamma" never seemed to offer the respect I wished to convey. She was smart and funny, and entertaining to watch as she gently promoted her customers into buying her beautiful produce. But most notably, Mrs. Calomiris was kind. On more than one occasion, she held overripe tomatoes for me until she had a good basketful, then called me to pick them up. I'd blanch, peel and seed them, then make sauce. A cook herself, Mrs. Calomiris approved of this old-school approach, and so was happy to help. As she did for everyone, when I came to get my basket, she always handed me a banana or a nice apple, something for lagniappe. And once, as I stood in front of Mrs. Calomiris' stall eating an apple she'd just sold me, she asked how it was; I said it wasn't bad, but that it wasn't quite ready, and that tiny woman reached up and took the apple from my hand as I was biting into it, in order to swap it for one that I'd like more. My family is Arab, immigrants to the DC area in the late '50's, so the enthusiastic hospitality I always received from Mrs. Calomiris was familiar. Except for her accent, she might have been one of my aunts. Maria Calomiris died of cancer in 2015, working at the Market until a few weeks before her death, having seen her husband, Chris, pass, just a few years earlier. The community and the City are the worse for these losses. But even several thousand miles away, Mrs. Calomiris' memory endures.
