This is now my local Safeway and I've had nothing but great customer service. However I did need to get a money order and a book of stamps. Look we all know the bad about the store! Which is a lot! BUT this review is about a worker there that does WAYYY more then she's supposed to. Her name is Jasmine, I believe she works in the customer service area. But she LITERALLY does everything! That's not a dramatic overstatement either. My first run in with her was when my family and I went to Safeway at like 8pm? Only ONE register was open. One person was on lunch and the line went ALL the way to the back of the refrigerators. We were in the line legit an hour? Jasmine had just arrived and called the store manager to ask if she could clock in early. The manager said no. Even after she saw pictures of the line. She explained to the people that she's so sorry. Anyways long story short she ended up getting clocked in and busting the line. Next, was a quick time when she was doing something and dropped it to help out banging so the lines go faster. Most recent time, the line to get a sandwich was crazy! 10 people with only one worker! Crazy! And she came from her department to help the lady with sandwiches. Every time I see her, she has a positive attitude. She's always smiling. Always trying to help people. Safeway has a great worker and she literally deserves some type of praise or recognition. Because look how bad their reviews are. Customer service is HARD! I've got to give a one-star review unfortunately not due to the staff at all because they're always friendly and very nice people. It's been a joy to shop there outside of the fact that the parking lot is completely dark, only one out of about 20 light poles are working. This is not such a great neighborhood and even tonight there was a homeless dude walking around to look like he was on drugs. seriously Safeway, get it together this place is completely black and it is dangerous even pushing your cart and not level of darkness. The meat department at Lincoln is the best specially James that's in the meat department took care of me meet or I was looking for pork chops that were on sale. Then he had a man came to me and I was on my way. After going to the Glen Cove Safeway twice they don't have them don't care if they have them in a comment that the butcher made a few minutes ago at Safeway think of was oh we're out. Whatever you do, don't buy seafood from here. 7/10 times it will smell like ammonia ( which means it's far passed expiration) and they will not give you your money back even with receipt and meat returned. Also, my husband has had two times when something was not put in the cart at check out. I miss good deals all the time. Recently I glanced down at my receipt to see I had earned a 60cent per gallon discount for gas. So, today...ching ching.... $2.29 a gallon to fill up for the week. If youre looking for fresh produce, youre SOL. We picked up some veggies on a long drive home from Reno to Berkeley, and due to the uberconvenient location right off of the 80, we pulled off the freeway for a quick stop. Their produce section, which consists of one half of a wall refridgerator, and a few stands containing fruits and veggies that dont need cold air, was pathetic. And most of the veggies looked like they had been there for a LOOONG time. Bruised, battered, old, and unloved. We bought anyway because we were desperate for grilled veggies after a long weekend eating bar food twice a day. Blech. Horrid. Heinous. Unacceptable. Yikes. For whatever reason, I was under the assumption that a Safeway is a Safeway is a Safeway. Man oh man, was I wrong. While this Safeway is ridiculously close to my home, and I think subconsciously is earning at least one of its stars based on this fact, I generally opt to take an extra 10 minutes to hop over to the Safeway on Admiral Callahan. Yikes. The outer appearance of this Safeway makes it seem like its been newly remodeled inside, but a good shellacking of plaster does not a new Safeway make. The produce section is tiny, and you can generally spot fruit flies kickin' it around the nectarines. There isn't much in the way of beer selection if you're looking for anything aside from the norm, and most of time the meat in the coolers looks like its been out for a bit (definitely DEFINITELY pay attention to your use by/sell by dates at this rebel of a grocery store). Checking out can be a bit of an awkward encounter, with employees either being disgruntled and hilarious, or disgruntled and wanting to give you a stare down over the "Who's job is it anyway, really?" to bag groceries. There have been numerous times when I have lost this stare-down contest, and have been forced to suck it up and bag the 75 bucks in groceries I've purchased. Hey, at least I know I'm not gonna bruise my own fruit or mix the cleaning supplies in with the eggs right? I generally don't mind doin' this myself, but there are some sad hungover Sundays when a girl just wants her paychecks worth of groceries to make it into bags on their own. People watching in this store is amazing however, and that's what earns this Safeway its other 2 stars. You've simply got to see it to believe it. I haven't had a 'normal' grocery encounter yet. The ambiguity to this statement almost makes you want to go, doesn't it? Oh yeah, and the gas station- go at times no one in their right mind would go. It closes around 10-11ish at night, and is usually PACKED with the line wrapping through the parking lot during the weekend. Many a horn honking fight over petrol has been witnessed in this here grocery store. But that all being said, if you just want a frozen pizza, some basic necessities, and a 12 pack of cheap-o beer, this is as good of bet as any. Just remember to bag your own shiat, biatch. read more

Well, it turns out they've remodeled this place considerably since my last experience here and it now looks like an OK place to shop. I'm not sure why I ever go here for groceries. Its certainly never to get all my grocery's (we have a neighborhood Walmart for that), its typically for "loose ends". Never have I ever left happy, or pleasant. The cashiers make me angry and their "store manager" is clearly an over worked robot of all lost emotion. Of course people are going to write Safeway headquarters with their disgust in this establishment! I worked as Safeway's bookkeeper and customer service center for more than two years....just in a totally different city. I can say that this location is not at all what Safeway condones. Its terrible! If no stars could be an option this Safeway would deserve it, but I guess the fact that at the very least their cashier clerks (the folks that collect carts/bag your stuff/ offer to help you out) THEM, they are the only ones doing a good job. For a store that Prides itself with high-quality food especially especially Specialty Foods like gluten free and vegan I see very few sugar-free items especially in the cake and baking aisle why isn't there a large selection of sugar free cake mix yellow and chocolate. Pillsbury carries sugar free chocolate and yellow cake mix brownie mix and bread mix along with chocolate and vanilla frosting you need to start carrying that there are more people who are sugar intolerant then there are people who are gluten intolerant please make space for those above items thank you read more

God Dang this place is Ghetto........I work down the street so im pretty much forced to go here since i have litle time on my breaks to go the other safeway........ This place is just depressing which makes sense since pretty much all of vallejo is deppressing really...... Ok so i always go here to get a sandwhich prety much everyday....and everyday i go in i see the same non caring could give a F**ck attitude from the employess.......Theres always i line out the door for the deli area and the girls are always talking to each other about there day and they did this and that and pretty much just gabbing away. they do stop periodically to ask me what i want then back to there converstion.........sometimes i have to stand there for a while before they feel it neccessary to greet me hello.......They move REALLY slow as if they dont care becasue well they DONT! lol seems like the longer the line is the slower they move....I go in there everyday so i dont say or complain to them but i have seen many others complain and yell at the deli girls cant really blame people for yelling at them now that i see the kinda service they give........ I so wish I could give this place 0 stars, but 1 will have to do. I've been here countless times, only because it was close to home but this morning was the last straw. NEVER AGAIN. I came here before work this morning to pick up 2 breakfast burritos (don't judge me). Mind you, the breakfast sandwiches/burritos were advertised to be served from 6-11AM. I was there at a little before 8, so I was expecting I get my burritos. But no, boy was I wrong. I got up to the deli section, and there were 2 women setting up and no one even acknowledged me until after 5 mins. One of them promptly told me that they would be ready to help me in just a sec, okay.. I walked to the produce section, looked for some teas, and walked back to get my burrito. They were now both in the back, and I stood in front of the counter for another 5 mins, until an older woman named CYNTHIA (it goes against my better reasoning to include their names, but this is how much she outraged me) walked towards me and asked if I needed something. I told her what I wanted, and she started to grab my tortillas, throwing them around on the counter, and literally tossed them into the toaster. I get it Cynthia, it's early in the morning (not really, it was 8 o'clock), you're probably tired. But why the hell would Safeway advertise it to be served from 6 if you weren't going to properly do your job? She then began to toss everything on top of the tortilla, sloppily wrapped it and threw it in the toaster for LITERALLY 30 seconds. Both burritos were still cold as ice. On top of that, the cashier that checked me out had the biggest attitude. NEVER AGAIN. I'd rather eat McDonald's than go grocery shopping here. And that says a lot. read more

My sister ordered a cake from the safeway bakery. She was not shown the cake . The baker. Gave her the cake in a closed pink box. She came home we opened it; we were very disappointed. The cake was smashed and in two pieces. The writing was wrong. Instead of red roses it was covered in red swirls. Obviously who ever they have working in the bakery can't decorate. The baker should have been honest about the cake being destroyed. My sister would have picked one out of the case no problem. But now we are stuck with a destroyed cake for the party. I hope that at the very least it will taste good. This is one of many reasons why I Don't shop at this safeway. My family is very disappointed and will not shop at that safeway any longer. read more

It's easy to get to, although parking is a hassle because cars line up getting gas and then you have to weave your way around them. If you aren't getting gas park to the right, not the left, so you don't get trapped by the line. No Starbucks coffee kiosk, no decent hot coffee options, so I didn't get anything. Parking lot is dirty, lots of homeless and meth freaks around begging for change. Again, great cheap gas to be had, but the trash problem, litter, run down feel just bothers me. Sharol / sharil the main manager has poor leadership and soft skills . As the manager during a pandemic she made me take off my mask while she yanked my ID out of her cashiers hand . She told me to yank down my mask while screaming at me . Not only was this humiliating me , but during a pandemic she made me pull down my mask when I was in close proximity With other customers . This was very unprofessional. I continued to watch how she screamed and yelled at her team . This is poor leadership skills - I have never felt more unsafe and embarrassed. I will never be a customer at any safe way grocery stores , and I will spread the word because this company obviously does not do much training for the people they decide to put in leadership . Very poor experience and it makes sense why the ratings are so low . The management sucks and they abuse their workers . As a leader - all I saw was lawsuits everywhere as she was physically grabbing her subordinates. It's gas. We need it, and as a commuter the cheaper- the better! I was put on to Safeway gas by a good friend back in February and I'm so glad! I was commuting 63 miles one way to work so no wonder why I'm the duchess! Nevertheless, yes the lines are long but to me it really is worth the wait to pay sometimes .15-.20 less than I see for premium gas at other stations. If you buy groceries at Safeway, it can actually lead to deeper savings at the pump through their rewards which is another win! Look out for panhandlers at night and such. I so enjoy the prices. Right off the freeway-- totally conveniently located. I don't take issue anymore with the set up because you have to remember-- the pumps stretch over to whichever side of the car you roll up to. Read the signs, people-- pull forward on either side! So you don't have to wait in a longer line than necessary to get of your side of the tank. That has saved me time and kept my irritation at a reasonable level. read more

I just recently discovered this convenient (and cheap) gas station. The exit is Georgia St and is right on the freeway. It's incredibly convenient and even has a small cashier booth that sells a few snacks and drinks, which saves you the trip going inside Safeway. The only downfall is the lines and rude patrons. I've been cut in line before; people are vicious over getting gas before you. Also, the layout of only two pumps makes it a tough squeeze and difficult to see if there's an open spot while you wait for the next queue to open up. I don't mind dealing with classless folks, but I won't go out of my way to save a few pennies. Update: I knocked down a star due to recently visiting another Safeway Gas Station and seeing this isn't a four star location, but a three star station. read more

When we first moved to Vallejo we frequented this Safeway. We have shopped at Safeway since moving to the area 6 years ago. When we moved to Vallejo a year ago Safeway seemed like a good choice since they consistently have products we are looking for and seem to be the cleaner of stores anywhere we have lived. This store site is generally clean, but the customer service is absolutely horrendous. Whether it is waiting 15+ minutes at the deli counter or experiencing very long wait times to checkout, there always seems to be a shortage of employees. Several experiences here have included a manager telling me that he did not have time to help me because he was running the bakery counter and the meat counter simultaneously. This was unsettling for me to hear from a manager, but what has kept me from going back to this site, despite it being the closer of the stores to our home is the customer service at the registers. One afternoon while waiting to cash out I noticed that the clerk was being rude to the customers in front of me, especially after the customer pointed out that she didn't receive her discount for the item she had purchased. The clerk snatched the item from the customers hand and began to process the transaction. The clerk finished and when it was my turn he simply began to scan the items, I greeted him and said I would like bags, to which he didn't respond. He continues to scan my items and run the conveyer belt which ended crushing some of the items I was purchasing. He finished scanning and as I was processing my payment I reminded him I had asked for bags and if my phone number had gone through for the Safeway card. He said no give me the number so I did to which he replied it didn't exist. I suggested perhaps we had missed a number and he asked for me to give him the damn number. He finally input it correctly and began to throw my items into bags. As I was walked away I told him that regardless of the day he's having he didn't need to be rude to customers and to be nicer to the next one. He proceeded to yell at me as I walked away saying that I had a problem. I simply told him that we don't address customers in this manner and he continued to yell even after I was three checkout lanes away. Having been in customer I know there's a standard and this isn't it. You don't speak to customers in that way, don't treat paying customers rudely, and don't yell at them in front of the rest of your store. I have not and will not return to this location and warn others to be cautious. There's a high level of crime that occurs in the parking lot as well, but inside the store isn't much better. Even family that has visited us and gone to this store warn us about shopping there. read more

The store in question: 709 Lincoln Road West, Vallejo, CA 94590. 4/12/12 at 0645. I never see the employees doing anything other than working diligently. Meat lockers and dairy lockers are filthy. The butcher told me that there weren't enough employees to clean meat lockers regularly. The dairy stocker said same thing about dairy lockers. I think the employees are doing their job, but management hasn't afforded enough time and/or labor to provide for the most basic things required from a food retailer; that being sanitation.
