The store was very clean, but the staff were unhelpful. We were having difficulty locating dates for a recipe we had. We searched through the produce section; knowing that other Safeway stores carry them in the same section. We ended up finding them without assistance from staff, 20 minutes later. I don't feel that this is acceptable for a large supermarket. Also, the bakery only had one baked sourdough round. I was there at 3pm. Maybe the store is understaffed? I shop here all the time due to prices, selection, hours and selection. Employees are nice too and have to work extra hard due to chronic understaffing by their manager (so don't get too salty with the poor cashiers please). Downside is, as others have mentioned, this place is always understaffed so the wait at the cashier can be uncomfortably and unusually long when compared to other safeways. Tip: if you are doing your weekly shopping and not in a time crunch, go here. If you are just getting a couple items like milk, go to central market, you'll pay more but not have to wait. read more

While doing some general grocery shopping at Safeway this morning, I decided to get some coffee at the Starbucks. I don't usually get my coffee from a Safeway Starbucks--not really sure why; I guess I thought it wouldn't somehow be the same, or the customer service wouldn't be as good... I was wrong. I'm, pretty picky about my coffee order, but the barista was on it. I even apologized for how picky I am, and she said not to worry about it at all, that people should get what they want when they are paying for it. She even gave me a little extra whip. Came in this past Sunday night to grab a few things. While waiting to check out, I watched the cashier be extremely rude to the man he was checking out. The customer paid and then realized that he had a broken egg in the carton he had just purchased and was asking the cashier to help get him a new carton (totally reasonable request to me). He was also asking for a new bag since the one of the handles on his paper bag was broken. The cashier was impatient, dismissive and in the end, just gave him a new bag and told him that the egg wasn't broken. I saw the egg- it was broken. There was a language barrier, but the cashier could not have been less helpful or courteous. When ringing up my order, he made what I thought were inappropriate jokes- including asking if the cat food was for cats or to go home and eat on toast. While it's super close by, I don't plan on coming back here. Clearly respect for their paying customers isn't high on the list of priorities at this store. read more

I shop here a lot because of the convenience and price but it is never a good experience. Hard to find help and they selection is not good. The lay out is weird and some of the checkers are just plain annoying. I do love that they have a Starbucks. I never feel safe walking to my car with all the loitering that goes on here. read more

Customer service is dead. These days it seems that most stores have completely abandoned it in favor of saving money on paying their employees. Every Safeway in the area has this problem, but after my experience today I am inspired to write about this one, knowing full well as I do so that it will not make any difference. Anyway, today I was on my way to work and just wanted to grab a quick lunch, and stopped in at this location thinking, "How bad can it be?" Never ask that question in this town. So after grabbing a couple of things, I went to the checkout line to pay. While waiting in the ONE line that was open behind two other people, I got to watch the manager b$%%# out the cashier for breaking dress code. And this couldn't wait until the line of customers was taken care of? I felt sorry for the cashier and for the people in line for having to witness her humiliation. Hey, we were all new once. Rule #1 in retail establishments - make money. Rule #2 - let the store and assistant managers feel as powerful and important as possible while paying as little attention to the customer's needs as possible. Trust me, I used to work for a store much like this one, and these rules come before any thought of "customer service" enters their minds. Bottom line? Any Safeway store in this area is just not worth the hassle. I have had this same problem in every one of them in the last couple years. I'm actually a pretty patient person, but the lack of attention to the customer (who is keeping them in business) is astounding to me. read more

I hate to say it but geeze Safeway.. what happened? this chain used to be great but now over the years they have all steadily declined. Places like this want to hire a bunch of millenials who refuse to do the work but want to be paid high wages for nothing. They tend to lay off people who are older who have been here for years just so they dont have to pay retirement. That being said my spouse and I came here last night and we wanted chinese food for dinner from the deli. I dont consider 7:30 as being super late at night. The food was all dried out and nasty. So the guy at the counter working says that the BBQ pork is fresh which it is CLEARLY not. Its all dried out. No sweet and sour chicken and no general tsos either. I ended up going with a scoop of mashed potatoes and 2 small chicken tenders both of which were dried out and nasty. Her chow mein noodles were crunchy. She ate two bites of it and said she was never going back to that location. While this store had a great layout and easy parking one thing it didnt have is friendly employees. I get that you hate your job but to tell a customer that you dont want to be here and saying that they are making you do everything isnt proffessional. The guy at the service deli was also really weird. Like he didnt want to answer our questions. When I told him what I wanted he told me to wait because he wouldnt remember. then he said im just being honest. Grrrr I'm super annoyed. I love shopping at this particular location but today I'm re-thinking that. I went to pick up the ingredients to make french dip sandwiches and the lady bagging my groceries was carrying on a conversation with another bagger and somehow forgot the main components to my dinner plan. I got all the way home, turned on the stove and my crock pot and looked in my bag and it's not there... I called and the lady at customer service named Jen was quite helpful but now my husband has to go back and get the groceries that I paid for that they forgot to give me. So frustrating! So now I can't get dinner started right away because I have to wait at least half an hour for my husband to get there and back. Just... Ugh read more

This is long overdue. I'm so glad that they reopened this Safeway and I'm happy to see several familiar faces are back. I love it when I go to a place and the employees genuinely look like they enjoy their jobs. Leigh is a perfect example. The remodel looks awesome. Not gonna lie, I love the hot wing bar. My only criticism would be the cold deli case, QFC and Hagens have better salads and such. read more

While the store itself has been through a lot of change in the last two years. Transitioning from Safeway to Haggen's, back to Safeway. It is a typical grocery store. Where my complaints stem is the service. It is consistently understaffed during busy times of the day. Making what should be a 5 minute in and out trip, 30 minutes of standing in a line. If you wont add additional employees, please install a self check out. Outside of that, they have a good verity of products, and if they don't carry what you're looking for you can always request the product be stocked. read more

This place has had its ups and downs going from Safeway to Haggen and back to Safeway. The store is attractive and clean. Safeway prices are much higher than Fred Meyer and WInco further down 99 but with the Just 4 U card you can get some decent values. Shopping here is fairly pleasant and staff is OK. The store is roomier than the Safeway in Edmonds. I think the current Safeway is better than the Safeway that used to be in this location in appearance and overall. There is ample parking. read more

Oh, please, Doug, you know they will never get their "stuff" together! I complained to corporate via their web survey after one exceptionally horrible experience. I got a nice phone message from Ashley, the Store Director, wanting to talk to me about my experience and how she could do better. I called Ashley and had a 20 minute conversation with her and gave her a run-down on some essential improvements she could make. Here's the list... Have more checkers who know what they are doing to include knowing the fruit/vegetable codes without having to look in the book or on the item. Have more checkers in general during peak times. If there is one checker in a regular line with people waiting, and they do end up calling for another, don't open up a quick check line! When there are a lot of people in line and there are "no other checkers" available have a manager jump in and help instead of chit chatting with each other down one of the aisles. Tell the manager, who actually does check sometimes, who incessantly apologizes for the wait and she'll be right with you, etc., etc., to just check and get people through the line! I also told Ashley the wait for someone to come to the liquor cabinet was unacceptable. I suggested maybe giving the liquor key to someone in the bakery or the deli, which are nearby. She said that was a great idea and she would see what they could do. Nothing is what was done. Here's a trick for the liquor cabinet request button. Don't just push it and wait for it to do it's cycle. Push it then immediately cancel it by pushing the little circle below it and PUSH it again! Do this over and over. That way the announcement will repeat one after another instead of about 45 seconds between announcements. Oh, yes, the expired food on the shelves. I purchased expired Boboli type pizza crusts one night. I called to tell them they needed to remove the other expired ones and that I'd be in the next day to get a refund or find a product that was not expired. I came in and left the expired crust with a checker, explained the situation, and went to get another. They did remove the expired ones I had purchased but I found about ten other packages of different brand crusts that were expired!!! I took them up to the checker. He blamed it on the vendor. You'd think if you're going to remove an expired product you'd check the others to ensure nothing else was past date? Everything they say they will do to improve is lip service. You'd think corporate would finally get a clue and do something? Please, if you have a negative experience at this store go online and fill out the survey to corporate. read more

My wife won't even go back, she was robbed inside the store while shopping during mid day while the kids were at school. The staff there never even followed up on how she is doing and it has been about 6 months since she was robbed. She sends me for the on sale items only. I hope I'm not next to be robbed. read more

Very small store with an even smaller selection. In particular, they're one of the few Safeways that doesn't carry So Delicious Coconut Ice Cream. They also occasionally run out of bananas, something that I've never seen at a Safeway before. read more

Twice now I've come to shop there. Once at 9:30pm and again at 1pm today. Both times there were lines all the way down the aisles and ONLY two lines open. No other Checkers were available either time! I spoke to the Manager & she said someone called in sick at the 9:30pm time. I'm trying right now to get put through to the Manager again. On hold forever. Manager NOT picking up!! Manager's line ringing again. STILL NOT PICKING UP!! TERRIBLE! I'm calling the Corp. number IF I can find it. Disgusting. No one there to answer the phone EVEN!!! Ashley Cook is the Managers name. She finally came back from lunch & said someone again called in sick but that there were other Checkers to be called but the woman Checker in my line said there were none available at that time.
