Updating my review from 2 to 4 stars because of pleasant, exceptional service from the pharmacist and checkout associate just now. Typing this in the Safeway parking lot. Wow! Guess the sweet spot is shopping between 10-11 am on a weekday. Calm, clean, well stocked, terrific service. And yes, been a Shoreline shopper for over 18 years. This convenient location has its moments of sketchiness with the crossection of society. Kudos to folks who are employed here! Thanks for an actual pleasant experience.

The card section at this Safeway is simply amazing. Not only did I find one perfect birthday card, I found three on a recent shopping adventure. I had been planning to go somewhere else for cards and we stopped for a few groceries for dinner and I had forgotten how good a card section this store has. Perfect place to come and pick up a few groceries and a nice card or two or three. Concerning groceries, there are a wide array of offerings including Safeway specific brands you won't find at other chain grocery stores. Convenient location if you are driving along Aurora Avenue North in Shoreline and want a place to stop with not so expensive prices on food stuff and that doesn't have large sections devoted to other merchandise such as clothes.

This is for their floral department. I came in with a last minute need for a gift basket. The woman working that section was very new and wasn't quite sure how the logistics of it worked because I wanted to create my own. But she immediately called her supervisor to figure out how and created an amazing gift basket for me. Thank you!

Possibly the worst customer service staff around. Takes a half hour just to check out.

This store always seems to have checkout organization problems. The store is okay.

This site at 175th & 15th has both a well kept grocery store and fuel station. I also feel much safer in the store, parking lot or gas station. I often find all items on my grocery list which also helps towards accuring fuel discount points. Often the prices are as good as Costco without the crazy lines! Selection is decent. Prices are competitive. Interactions with checkout, customer service, and meat department staff have been helpful and personable. This was especially notable during two visits during the holiday season obtaining a free 12 pound turkey, nicely cut 9 pound beef rib roast (timely butcher assistance), and a 10 pound spiral cut ham. I used to cut coupons, then used my ancient Safeway card for savings. However, today (12/23/24) I actually downloaded the app and received significant digital savings on the rib roast and spiral cut ham. As a Shoreline resident, we're lucky to have choices where we shop: Safeway, Fred Meyer, Costco, Trader Joe's, Town & Country, and various international indie markets. This particular Safeway does the job and very glad that earlier mega merger with Kroger did not go through.

With a few minutes extra time on my hands this afternoon, Thursday 26 February 2026, I decided to…read morestop by Ballinger Thriftway and check it out. I was unsure of the offerings by the name and that I had not been before and found it to be groceries and household items. The diversity of offered items was depth within a particular item space. Seasonal items were also well presented. Looking for cards, I found some though they were on the pricey side per my experience. Looking to see it they had a small candy item, I found good variety and prices in the chocolate bar options. I chose a dark chocolate Chocolove chilies and cherries item that was less than $3.50. Checking out/payment was straightforward to navigate/use and the workers were quick and friendly.

The one positive thing I have to say about this store is they have very beautiful produce and that…read moreis the one and only reason why I continue to go there... The prices are insanely high, they are even higher than PCC for many items. The people that work there are a mix, some are super friendly and nice, but there are a couple weirdos that work there that make me turn around if I walk in and see it's only them working at the registers. Their names are Jimmie and Sam. Sam sells chocolate bars he makes at the store, or the store sells them? Any way, I don't eat chocolate bars or dairy and they are made with milk chocolate. And they are $7. I think it's great to support people, but I won't eat the chocolate bars and the store is already too expensive, so I'm not going to buy it and there is SO MUCH PRESSURE TO BUY THE CHOCOLATE. And Sam has a major attitude because I don't want to buy the stupid chocolate bars. Very passive aggressive. With rising costs everywhere the last thing I want is to be pressured to buy something I don't want at a grocery store when I'm just struggling to survive. And Jimmie is just a major weirdo. There are also a few older ladies that always have an attitude for no apparent. I'm a very friendly and polite person, but I'm also the customer so I shouldn't be the one greeting them and telling them to have a nice day while they basically tell me to f*** off. It's very much a small town vibe and I feel like an outsider the shouldn't be there. I am very grateful for Grocery Outlet opening near by so I mostly go there for last minute items and I avoid Thriftway at all costs because I don't want to be pressured into buying the stupid gross chocolate or deal with weirdos with attitude.

I was looking for a place to get a quick snack while waiting for an appointment, so I decided to…read morestop into Plaza Latina. I'm so glad I did! The bakery is EXCEPTIONAL. The selection of pastries and breads is vast, and they have many classic Mexican pastry options, such as (what I think is called) a concha. They come in multiple colors, but the yellow stood out to me. It's chewy with a slight crunch and perfect level of sweetness and a light fluffy texture. I don't have any other pastry to compare it to, so you'll just have to get one for yourself! The price was great too, the pastry and a bottled water was $3.91. The cashier was efficient. It's not much to look at from the outside, and the inside isn't anything special. I was also hoping an employee greeted me when I walked through the door, but it wasn't a big deal. If you are looking for a quick snack that's authentically Mexican for an exceptional price, make sure to visit Plaza Latina!

It's one of my go-to spots when I want ingredients that actually taste authentic. They've got a great selection of freshly baked pastries, fresh produce/meat, and tons of South and Central American goodies you don't usually see at regular grocery stores. It's a great little neighborhood market and definitely worth checking out if you're in Shoreline.
