Is this a good place to the kids? No. Is this a safe place to shop? No. Does the staff look at everyone like a criminal? Yes. If you need groceries, head on over to some other store. Blame the teens from the high school across the street, but lets be honest, all the other businesses in the strip mall left due to game warfare and Safeway barricaded one of their entrances. I might hit the gas station in the parking lot but only because I am there for 90 seconds and dont go 6 feet away from my car door. Anything else and I might get jumped. Unless the belt on your jeans is down around your knees, stay away from this death trap. read more

I have been at this locations pharmacy for over 2 years and have always had issues with getting my medications. Today I spoke with them about the issue, after speaking with my doctor multiple times and getting confirmation that all paperwork has been finalized. The pharmacy isn't doing something on their end, and I have been without my medication for almost a month. When I spoke with the supervisor about this, she was very ill tempered, and not providing any real answers, only passing off blame. When I asked for her corporate number to bring my complaint up the chain, she coldly said I could "G-o-o-g-l-e it" (she spelled it out in a rude manner as if I can't spell on my own). This is not how you handle a customer's complaint. This has been some of the worst customer service I have ever received. read more

This Safeway sucks. I needed to make a quick late night purchase and made it a few minutes before closing. There were 2 gentleman at the front inside the store making gestures indicating they weren't letting anybody in. If the store isn't going to be open for business within the business hours listed, then change the hours listed. Poor business practice. read more

Started going here after the location in Sea-Tac disappointed with terrible customer service (at the higher level; the stockers, for instance, are great). Have had better luck here in terms of customer service; however, like most Safeways for soem reason it is plagued by what you might call less-than-favorable clientele. One way to tell, besides immediately in the parking lot, where there is A LOT of questionable loitering, is the sign upon entry that no large bags are allowed. Want to emphasize we have not so far had any problem here, and that the pharmacy staff in both locations are wonderful. read more

I mostly drop in at lunchtime and get something from the deli counter. Usually it's chicken wings. I love their barbecue wings but now they've changed things and cut back on their deli selection. Also, the stuff that I liked has been taken off the counter. i've been very impressed with the service. They're always quick to get to me even though the place is very very crowded during the week at lunchtime. read more

They stopped public bathrooms. Don't shop there if you need go bathroom while shopping!!!! I had to go to taco time near by to go restroom.

I regularly buy flowers from Safe Way, however, is the last time I buy this bouquet. It goes from a bouquet of six (6) flowers to a bouquet of three (3), and I said ok...I buy two bouquets, and then they just reduced it to only two (2) flowers. For the same price. I know economy is affecting everyone, but this is cheap. read more

I'm not from here, but I needed groceries and to use the restroom. Now I have to find somewhere else to spend my money.

Is this even legal? I needed to go to the bathroom at 7 am before going to school. They don't have a bathroom anymore. I'm literally pregnant. Now I have to drive around to every sketchy gas station in the area to find somewhere to go to the bathroom. Thanks Safeway. Real winner here. I get putting a door code on it or having to ask but what is wrong with this Safeway. Ridiculous... read more

No ketchup packets in the deli (last week of July) and one of the entrances is now always closed (presumably because of shop lifters). Put the thieves in jail. I want to use the more convenient door. I go here all the time. I pick my prescriptions and groceries here. I've never had a problem. My prescriptions are always ready when I need them. And this place has food that I buy. Simple right? Downtown Renton's homelessness problem does affect this Safeway. So far nobody has bothered me. I always shop late at night. They have enough security at night to make my shopping experience feel safe. read more

Just went to the store waited at the self check out for 10 minutes when the manager Samantha was having a full on conversation completely ignoring me asked her if I can get some help. She said she's not able to help me because she doesn't have her card she said I can't help you I was completely ignored. She's rude and disrespectful when the person that came to help me completely did not ID me when I bought alcohol you guys completely are running a shitty business. So now you guys don't ID when people buy alcohol and you guys are rude and disrespectful. The person that helped me did not even ask me for ID did not even look at me in the eyes do not even talk to me just put in a date and walked away. If it's the store on Rainier Ave, it's not good. Doors are blocked, police are always on hand, visible. It doesn't feel comfortable. I avoid it if possible. But, the gas is priced OK, and you don't have to deal with anyone other than the person in the glass cage. read more

Could be a great store but those days are past. I've been around this area for more than 25 years and this store is as bad as it's ever been. Currently a Saturday night at 6pm and there are 2 lines open but 23 people waiting in line. There is a self check out. 4 stations and 9 people waiting. Chronically understaffed. People standing in long lines with one or two checkers and there is nobody else. Leads to no help for those who need it and an open invitation to steal merchandise. Nobody is watching or will do anything. Dirty. The bathrooms are disgusting, they allow people to bring any dog in the store in spite of notices that say service dogs only. The produce section could use a wash. Staff are non verbal. No greeting. No thank you when I've just spent a day's wages. No eye contact. Zombies. Allowing people to sit on the handicap carts, charge their phones and talk on phones in spite of sign asking people to not do that. When pointed out to the staff, get shrugged shoulders and nothing else. What's an old person supposed to do? Management doesn't care at all if you bring concerns. This store, because of it's poor management, invites criminal activity and if you need groceries, go across the street to Fred Meyer read more

To me, this location is on par with the other Safeway locations I've been to around downtown Seattle. We were in the area after visiting my very favorite plant shop up the street. So I was actually happy when we saw Safeway and decided to pick up food to make at home instead of dining out. I was able to easily find what I was looking for based on the other Safeways I've been to (most have a similar layout) so that was nice. read more

I only stop by this store at night while I'm walking home from a night on the town, so my perception could be skewed. The only reason I go to this store is because it's within super easy walking distance of downtown, I actually prefer the gas station across the street, but sometimes you just need a grocery store. This Safeway has everything you'd expect to find in a Safeway. I've learned to avoid the bathrooms, but the rest of the store is pretty clean. Lines are long and slow, but recently that's what I've come to expect of Safeway since the others have the same problem. read more

Recently discovered that Safeway's Fresh Pass program leaves a bad taste in your mouth and Safeway's leadership does NOT CARE!!! I have been awaiting a callback, to NO AVAIL, from Safeway's leadership for OVER A WEEK!!! As a Fresh Pass member, Safeway is SUPPOSED to apply a $5 credit to members' accounts, and it is SUPPOSED to be credited during checkout. However, I was just informed by an agent that on my most recent order, the $5 credit was NOT fully applied. YET, the difference was NOT returned to my account!! The ONLY way that I discovered this was because I spent over 1 1/2 hours on the phone, TRYING to get someone in management to speak with me!! I WILL NEVER TRUST SAFEWAY WITH ANOTHER PENNY OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY!! read more

Tamara is the best! She's fast, professional, and sweet! I appreciate her help and working ethic.

This place is such a disappointment when compared to the Fred Meyer a few blocks over. No matter what time of the day you go, they are guaranteed to only have two registers open with super long lines. One night when we stopped in, one of the "managers" was cracking jokes over the loud speaker, when there were 10 people all waiting in one line. OPEN UP SOME FREAKIN REGISTERS! read more

AVOID THE BAKERY! First, we came in one week before the party and placed the order. When we came to pick it up - they "lost" the order so they had to rush to make a cake. Super ghetto Safeway, I called their pharmacy 6 times and no one answers, I went in the store and waited over 30 min in line to talk to someone and the line didn't move. There were 2 people at the pharmacy and doing nothing to move the line. Meanwhile someone was blasting their music behind me making everyone in the store listen to it but no employees or security spoke to him. I ended up being unable to listen to it anymore and left and decided I won't be back. read more

So i am a husband and a father of 5 kids. We decided to have Chinese food for dinner so I went to Safeway and got 3 Shanghai meals. The sesame chicken was burnt the chow mein was burnt. Just about everything way burnt besides the egg rolls orange chicken and teriyaki chicken. When my wife had called down there to let them know and the person that answered the phone put her on hold and didn't answer the phone again. Literally the worst customer service I have ever received. My coupon app wasn't working. After telling the staff they told me i needed to call the number on the phone. Horrible service by 3 of the staff manners here. I hate Safeway! read more

It's the neighborhood grocery store. Ya know? You won't walk in and get, say, the feeling of a Greenfresh Market or a Whole Foods, etc. (any sort of "upper" scale" food store)... Safeway is the kind of place where you can get your everyday goodies (and MAYBE then some). You know, your munchies (like myself), your cereal---your *cough* Safeway [Discount] Card stuff (hehe, for you money-savers). What's neat about this one is that it's right next to a Gamestop! W00T! This location feels pretty safe all day, too. At night, minimal "hangers." During the school year after the bell rings, you'll probably get Renton High Schools coming through here---walkin' N talkin'---talking about their issues loud in public. lol. Welcome to another edition of "Safeway sucks". Sunday afternoon: no butcher on duty, no baggers, only three checkout lines open, clueless cashiers plugging their stupid "Monopoly" game instead of moving people faster through the line. Avoid. Staffing is terrible, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. I've waited 20 minutes to check out. This last Friday, the cashier was too busy chatting up a specific customer, who apparently needed a total of 4 people with her, to pay. I rarely see this cashier, and now pretty much only avoid her. The staff, GENERALLY, is quite good. I'm quite fond of a few of them. One in particular seems to comment frequently on purchase choices. Not a fan. The patronage of this place, in the evening, makes me uncomfortable. I've watched a gentleman walk through one set of doors, shouting obscenities about white people, then exit through the other door. I've watched people who seem very high and/or drunk buy alcohol. People who try to have a conversation with the cashier, but fumble and stumble and crumble at trying to create words as they go. It's worrisome. This is the worst Safeway in the area. Go up Petrovitsky for the nicest, go up 4th for the biggest, and 24/7 Safeway with gas. Take highway 900 if you're in a rush. Avoid this one. Run. Lived here 3 years and only come when I've got no time. read more

**** 04/30/17 Came in today to grab a drink from the STARBUCKS and encountered the same woman .... no smile , no hello and NO customer service! Finally got her name -Ebony. This woman is very unhappy with herself and her job. She is the worst I've seen in a barista/clerk. Safeway/Starbucks needs to help this woman. Definitely lost a customer, can't wait for Dutch Bros to open up! This rating is for the Starbucks's inside. Had the worst service today. The young lady did not smile, rude and did not seem to happy to be at work. Let alone she did not know how to make my drink nearly poured the entire bottle of half and half in there. I mainly come here for the sandwich bar. During the week, Trina is the main employee, she is fast and friendly, and has such amazing attention to detail. Horrible customer service. Got ripped off for $1.10, by the Deli Clerk, Kim. Kim labeled my breakfast sandwich as a Turkey Bacon Sandwich for $5.99. Which comes out to be around $6.60 with tax, where it was supposed be $2.99, about $3.30 with tax. I paid at the normal cashier line and the Cashier directed me back to the deli to be refunded by Kim. She first tried to make another sandwich for me but I said, "No." she pretended to punch numbers in and gave me $2.20 back with out a refund for receipt. read more

This review is towards the Starbucks located inside this Safeway. This was the worst service that I ever encountered from a barista. Her name was Arbriana (spelling?). She was by herself. When I approached the counter she was stacking up cups. She already had a scowl look on her face and I had a gut feeling that this wasn't going to be pleasant. Boy, was I right. She glared up at me for a couple of seconds before forcing the word "Hi" out. No smile or anything. It was such an unwelcoming feeling that I didn't even want to give her my order. I just ignored that thinking she had a bad day, everyone is bound to have one of those days. When I proceeded with my order (extra hot white chocolate mocha with whip) she rolled her eyes when I said extra hot. My total came out for $4.11. I have her a $10 bill, 1 penny and 1 dime. I was expecting $6 back but she handed me some change. I told her that I gave her 11 cents so I shouldn't get back any change. Then she looked at the register and she said I gave her 6 cents. I told her I gave her a dime and a penny. She looked at the registered again and took out a nickel and a dime and she said I gave her 15 cents. I then repeated that I gave her a dime and a penny. She argued stating that I gave her 15 cents. Then I said " Does it really matter?" I didn't want to have this argument over a 4 cents difference. I was very close to asking for my money back and just walking away because she was so rude. The fact was that I gave her enough and I just wanted bills back rather than change. She then rolled her eyes again and started making my drink. I had to walk to the other side of the counter so I can see what she was doing. I was really scared that she was going to spit in my drink. Then when she was done, she quietly slammed the drink on the counter. I should have went with my first instinct and walked away. I paid $4 for the worst white chocolate mocha, it just tasted like hot milk. Forget about asking her to remake it. She obviously does not know what customer service is. I was so upset I called customer service right away. I spoke with a manager explaining what I had just experience and she was very apologetic. She even offered two coupons for free drinks in the future. At first I didn't accept it because I wasn't looking for a free drink but my drink was so bad I knew I ended up throwing it away. The manager handled the situation very nicely. Overall this is your typical Safeway. I've never had a bad experience here other than my Starbucks incident. read more
