Let's get something straight. I have shopped here since this store was built. Have. liked the location and employee. Today, we went in for some shopping and a tv, as ours is going out. My shopping was fine, check out was good and the two employees in the electronics department were helpful. I have not been a fan of them closing the garden center entrance/exit. we tried to go through the coffee shop. Showed the officer our receipts, and the cart locks at the entrance. NO signs telling me this. Then we ask if we can go though the other door. Answer is no. we are parked right there!! very embarrassing to me and not called for. I am sadly aware of the thefts in this store. I am not one of them! need more signs and a better way of treating customer. This is not the case at the other Fred Meyers I shop at. Next time I will NOT spend my $$$ there and go somewhere else. Employees are very good. read more

Let's be real, things in Downtown Renton can get a bit...strange. When it comes to grocery stores, it's Freddy's or Safeway...and I'm most definitely not trying to go into that Safeway! This Fred Meyer's parking lot is dirty and I've seen some...truly upstanding behavior...from patrons, but inside the store is fine and I've never felt like I was in danger, so that's always a plus. They have all the things for basic one-stop-shopping and there's a Chase bank inside. Overall it gets the job done nicely and the prices are pretty on par with the rest of the grocery stores. And it's not the nearby Safeway. Always a nice bonus! read more

I was new at Fred Meyer in Renton. I was slow and confused at the electronic checkout station to process the items I picked up. Some of the items had different prices on the labels from the posted prices at the fixtures. I really had a tough time, and there was Jim on the checkout lines! He was helping to process the items with the scanner, and he even walked all the way to the fixtures where I picked up the items to verify the price difference. He was smiling all the way with full of the helping spirit. He resolved all the issues and saved my time. I was impressed with his professional spirit and kindness which seemed to be part of his nature. He just made my day!! Thank you, Jim! read more

The benson shopping center is very worn and torn from it's grandeur hay day when it was built. The area has a lot of issues in it self and not as safe as it use to be. A lot of crime occurs at this complex and that's not the major ones that make the news. This area constantly has issues. I really only come in here if I have to because I personally do not feel "safe" shopping in this area. For the most part it's your big box retail grocery store. Kroger is not the best employee to work for even at it's other companies it owns. (I don't work here.) Low wages, no one is happy, and the moral is very low at this location. This location goes through a ton of staff and is very high turn over. The company often does not give livable pay checks and company has been reducing staffing hours to pay as little as possible in employee hours. It is showing on the customer side and only getting worse. Lines are long, sco encouraged/forced.... I picked up a few hours here once in my early years and would say "do not work for Kroger." Thank god for the union other wise they'd walk all over their employees. This complex can get quite busy as it grosses 1 mil easily in a week if not a day some times. I shop mid week before the mid morning prime time because I do not like crowds. This just means if you shop really early or really late in the day you might not get full product on the shelves. And are limited to what every customers have left evening shoppers with. Freshness here can vary from decent to can have issues. I do not buy a lot of produce from Kroger stores because it has a habit of turning bad 2-3 days after purchase. Back when they could order from local companies you didn't have this issue. Now that it's all warehoused localized it's not as "fresh" as it use to be. Many times I've had issues of customers taking my basket and start shopping with it because I've only put one or two items in. Or turned my back for more than a minute. Bs like this does not make me want to shop here if someone can steal your basket and start shopping in it. This is a routine issue so you can not count out the fact that it's a one or two time occurrence. No this happens a lot. Company keeps removing items I buy. Amazon seems to be wining my business more and more over the years because down sizing shelves and products only encourages customers to take their business else where. I've lost many common every day popular items that all of a sudden they discontinued. Well, that's why Amazon wins most of my haba purchases. I see a lot of theft at this location. It's sad that kroger's policy is "We can't do anything let them have it." Before they use to stop people but now they don't. A long time ago I worked at Target for a summer pt college job and at least Target has the balls to stop shop lifters. Kroger does not have a spine to even attempt it any more. While the white shoppers walk right past...I called him on it ,he said he was just doing his job. Is it their job to only ask brown and black people for a receipt? Crappy experience. read more

The shopping experience was good, but the coupon that I had clipped was not activated when I'm at the checkout. It looks like you have to clip the coupon a day in advance. They need to go back to the actual coupon. Not everyone has a smart phone or phone that can download the apps. Safeway still offers both the digital and the paper coupon. The family goes there. Is a sad matter of fact when a senior manager can't efficiently abide by state law! Manager Adrian and sidekick Sancho just contradicted Kroger. When purchasing liquor and cigarettes, it is NOT a state requirement to scan ones ID. It can be verified visually by management and manually entered. These yahoos had a power trip! I used to shop here multiple times a week, but am now driving to Winco in Kent. This place used to be a decent spot for groceries but now it's filled with so many sketch people & officers are constantly there now, even to check you're recent as if it's costco.. don't feel safe shopping here & with the constant amount of people asking me to pay for their groceries, officers and higher prices, it's not a fulfilling experience. read more

The lines are just awful! There were only two cashiers helping at least 5 cartfuls each. The customer service desk was closed early so no one could pay their bills during the first week of the month! Someone waited 30 minutes to get a key made, but nobody ever came! Are there people here? At least there's stuff to buy. This Fred Meyer has really gotten a lot worse since they implemented the 360 cameras at the self checkout. Every time I'm scanning my items, the software flags me thinking I didn't scan something and then bagged it, which leads to me having to wait for like 3 minutes for one of the checkout workers to come and fix the machine. read more

I have to say, the Fred Meyer it Renton disappoints as often as it impresses. This applies only to Renton Fred Meyer. Happily enough in Burien the service and selection is always spot on and sometimes above and beyond. Not so at Renton. In particular the meat and seafood department is frequently (not occasionally, frequently) out of advertised specials from their weekly flyer. Even on the first day. Enough that I think it is a problem with management or it is done intentionally to have a few terrific prices but never have enough and hope you'll just buy other things instead. For example, colossal shrimp. When they are on sale I try to buy a couple 2 pound bags. Many times they are not there. Even on the first day in the morning. I have also been told "the shipment is in but I can't get to them until tomorrow" ( there is one person at the meat counter who told me this on a few occasions... pretty sure that person just wants me to Go away). Not all Employees seem That surly of course but after a few of those it eclipses the folks that are trying hard to do a good job. Let's talk about Whole chickens. On sale... one chicken available in the bin. Just one. Employees are restocking ground beef which is not on sale and piled high before they even bring out more, but there is a whole section of the meat cooler with nothing in it but one lone sad looking chicken. Does it not seem that, if you advertise it you should not be out on the first day every time ( because Burien sure isn't.) If I drive a little further the lady at the Burien seafood counter is bending over backwards to help, enthusiastic about the specials...even talking cooking ideas. ( as she is packing fish, no, not just visiting when people are waiting) I feel she is glad I am A customer. I don't feel That in Renton. If it is a corporate decision not to supply this one store well enough to have the advertised specials in, then the managers should be pounding them Every week they miscalculate. It is the same items that periodically go on sale so let's not pretend they are not aware that it is beginning to look like bait and switch in the Renton store. read more

If you ever moved away, you start really missing more than family. You may also miss your shop family. This is how I feel about Fred Meyer! I've moved away from the NW a few times, and each time I am reminded how much I love Fred Meyer! Now, I am hesitant to express why I love FM because many of you yelp reviewers may then also crowd my FM making me grrrrrr. But, being a optimist, I am sure that will not ever happen =D I love FM and my out of town friends do too, because there is so many options to choose from when purchasing something. I also like that I can shop for my groceries AND get those items for the home, reading pleasure, beautified products, gifts and gardening. It makes grocery shopping fun to have all of this in one stop! I also really like that there is a "red box" just outside the main entrance... one never knows when the movie bug will strike! GARDENERS AVOID - this store locks its doors on the garden side of the store at 6pm during gardening season. Additionally, there is no signage to tell people trying to find a parking space that the doors are locked. Also, they still have a checking stand open on that side of the store which makes no sense when you have to go all the way out to the main doors (quite a ways away) where all the other checking stands are. So no quick stops to pick up that last start you need, another irrigation system part or some additional soil - it is a complete schlep from one end of the store to the other. Go to Mclendons across the street instead. read more

I've come to this Fred Meyer randomly through the last 15 years when I happen to be in Renton which is far and few between when I need to grab something to drink or get something on the way to someone's house for dinner. Cashiers have always been friendly and fast. I use their club card deal which would be of real use to a regular shopper for getting a discount on gas. My most recent trip here was for gas and had to pay the regular price since I don't shop here often enough. Gas pumps are fast and the area is clean and picked up. Huge parking lot and it's shared with the rest of the strip mall so parking isn't an issue. read more

This is a review of the Pharmacy at Fred Meyer Grocery. Specifically the pharmacy at 395 Renton Center Way! The only reason I gave one star is because it won't let I post without! Here we go people !!! Let me begin by saying this is the last time I will tolerate the rude staff at Fred Meyer Pharmacy in Renton, head pharmacist Jared is no peach either! He tolerates the techs being rude to customers or it wouldn't occur! I literally dread going to this pharmacy! His morning I went early after already receiving the text stating all three of my scripts are ready! I go to the window and only one is ready there is on tech there who is Asian and always tolerable! I'm sorry I did not catch her name! She said the other scripts would be ready tomorrow, I said no please I am out and cannot wait until tomorrow, she then said come back in 40 mins we'll I returned in 60 minutes giving them grace! The tech that helped me was rude and said no there is only one ready go sit down and I'll work on the other one! No please, no thank you, no I'm sorry the other is not ready and looked at me like something on her shoe! All the while the pharmacists is standing in ear shot! Dear sweet Jared! And yes I'm being sarcastic! I go stand and after about 10 minutes the rude clerk calls my name. I step to the counter low and behold she only has one bottle! I said oh no I am supposed to have two she then sighs real loud rolls her eyes and states very rudely "yeah I know" I'm getting it! I said look I'm am so sick of being treating with such disrespect here that is it I'm switching pharmacies! Location is one thing I do not care never ever again will I go to this pharmacy again enough is enough!! Please know the one lonely Asian gal is the only one that is tolerable mind you she isn't the thank you and good day type most likely from working in this den of inequity!!! My son and I profiled as soon as we walked in. Security guard followed us in and followed us to each aisle smiling, My son asked if he needed help with something and the security guard laughed and walked away. As we continued to shop he kept peeking around each aisle we were in. When we done shopping and go to checkout line the security guard ran up behind my son and bumped him and says "do you need help with anything?" and put his hand on his side as to make us think he was going to use his weapon and scare us. I immediately had to hold my son back and get in the middle, as the security guard continued to antagonize my son. it started to get loud and then the supervisor for security comes out and says we need to leave the store and I advise him no we are just about done checking out. Then proceeds to inform me that my son has no home training and probably because he has no daddy at home. I advised him that maybe he should take that up with his "daddy" a Command Master Chief in the Navy and then he gets irate and yells "dont bring rank into this" and then they both proceed to make comments as we walk out the door trying to start trouble for no reason. That kind of trouble and profiling is what gets people killed now a days. Its a shame. Will never shop there again. read more

I like to shop here because their produce is cheap and more fresh compared to the grocery stores where I live and their selection of meat is huge. If your a person with disabilities, Fred Myer Benson is not for you. If your a disabled person and in need of a mobility scooter so that one may try to pick their prescriptions and groceries Fred Myer Customer Service and their pharmacy will not accommodate you at all. I am a disabled person who cant walk because my right hip is broken and the left hip is fractured and I would need a mobility scooter to get around and so I drove near an entrance to see if a scooter was available and I did and so I called customer service and talked to the clerk and she said we will bring it to you, and so I wait for 20 minutes and nothing and so I call again to customer service and again I was told to wait and so another 30 minutes go by and nothing. I call a thired time and this time I was told that they gave the scooter to somebody else. I attempted to pick up my prescription from Fred Myer for two days now and I still cant get any help? Its time to swtich pharmacies and grocery stores. read more

Yelp...I'm begging! PLEASE make it possible to give less than one star!! Where do I start?!! At the beginning; the parking lot. The parking lot is filthy. I have seen needles, used condoms, vomit and human (presumably, since there was also toilet paper) feces in addition to the usual assortment of fast food containers, plastic bags, etc. There are always a variety of creepy people hanging around asking for spare change and cigarettes. Never food. Go figure. That's the ones that are conscious anyway. Definition of conscious, in this case, is not passed out. There are usually at least a few of those laying around. I'm basing my assumptions on the fact that they are still clutching that tell tale 40 ouncer in the paper bag. Finally, there are the mystery piles of dirty clothing, sleeping bags, etc. There have been several car break ins and assaults in the parking lot. Entering the lobby...It stinks. Of something unidentifiable. Always. Usually more creepy people hanging around asking for spare change and cigarettes. By the way, this is during the day. I wouldn't think of coming here at night. The actual shopping area is pretty clean and well stocked. They have a great seasonal section and their garden department is really nice; especially in spring and summer. I've always found employees to be friendly and courteous. The bathrooms...now the feces and toilet paper in the parking lot is beginning to make sense! Enough said. I've complained several times. I know many others have also. And not just lately. These problems have existed for quite awhile, are on-going and are escalating. This tells me management at this location doesn't care about customer safety. Or employee safety as these poor employees are required to park a fair distance from the building and are coming on or getting off shift at all hours. What really peeves me...there are several seniors as well as disabled folks in the community who have very few shopping options due to transportation challenges so therefore must put up with these conditions just to be able to have the basics. They are often the most vulnerable adults in our community. THIS LOCATION DOESN'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT SENIORS OR THE DISABLED!! If you don't want to support this, I suggest the Benson Plaza location; well worth the extra 5 minutes to drive there. If you're headed to Benson Plaza, help the seniors and disabled in our community to have a choice and a voice...consider offering them a lift up there or offer to pick up a few things for them. 6/12/20 A man is crouching inside the lobby area of the garden entrance near the door smoking crack or heroin (I'm assuming). The glass pipe, lighter and piece of foil he's heating up make me feel pretty sure of my assumption. No mask or social distancing from this junkie of course. Exiting customers at least have the option of turning around and using another exit after seeing him but customers coming in can't see him and therefore are walking straight through a cloud of whatever he's smoking. I'll miss the wonderful hard working employees at this location but I'm done. read more

This Fred Meyer is a solid melting pot of Seattle's south end. Having been here on-off since ye ol' school days, the staff here have generally been efficient and friendly; the occasional 'customer moment' may test thy patience - proceed how you must from there. Employees assisting the aisles seem to be a bit friendlier than the front staff. You will pretty much find everything here from toiletries to planting pots to natural baked potato chips. I usually come here for the munchies in the regular or natural aisles when I'm passing through good ol' Renton. My recent visit had me getting a certain clothing garment. Their clothing department is always dead; naturally... perhaps. Of course, when I get to the cashier up front next to the Tullys (I'm 80% sure it's Tullys, 20% different?). there is a customer with a handful of coupons which I can only assume something was mis-processed. Pfft... ah well, I waited. It's good for my wants and somewhat convenient, the bathrooms are decent and the Chase ATM has a 40% chance of a small line on Saturday afternoons. read more

CANNOT SHOP HERE ANYMORE. Used to love the store. But now that I have severe arthritis, I must use a motorized shopping cart. NEVER any available or charged up for use here. Horrible for me to hobble from my parking space in to the store, only to find "dead" carts, or none. Done that too many times... No more. It is a shame..... Now I go to Safeway in the Highlands.. They ALWAYS have motorized carts available. But I must say, even though I like Safeway, I really did like Freddie's better.... more products, better pricing, nice staff, and lots of extra stuff like hardware, paint, dishes, pans, gifts, clothes, etc that Safeway does not have. There is also a problem with strange people, crazies, etc. hanging around which is a little scary. Drug paraphenalia in the parking lots, and people who look like they will jump you. This is a nice Fred Meyer, but not exceptional. I have never been here when their meat counter is open, but their already packaged selection of meat is all right. They have a large produce selection and a small organic / all natural selection. Like Kris said, it has everything you could possibly need, and a lot of things you won't need. The store is clean and brightly lit. The parking lot is often a crowded, but be careful of parking too far in the back as you will be approached by panhandlers looking for money. That has happened to me more then once. The employees here leave something to be desired. Luckily Fred Meyer is largely self service with even self checkout so you won't have to interact with them much. The majority of them are cranky sighing how they are eager to get off of work. Others avoid being talked to by ducking down aisles or running off to employee only areas. It's all right, but on Rainier Ave your selections are limited so Fred Meyer is the best of the bunch. read more

One of my favorite grocery store chains, just behind Publix and Wegmans. The cashiers are always extremely friendly and fast moving. Their customer service has let me know of an out of stock item via twitter in the past. Also love that you can pretty much find anything you need here. Only gripe is their deli department, we've experienced a few less than friendly employees behind the counter. Also, when I ask for extra thin deli meat - I don't expect to get cardboard thick slices in return. read more

Typical Fred Meyer. The parking lot is laid out really weird, lot's of random stop signs that nobody seems to notice. Very old feel to it, needs to be remodeled at some point. There is a Tullys Coffee & a Chase bank inside, so that is convenient. This seems to be a very popular store; the aisles are always jam packed with people who don't seem to want to move to the side to let people pass, and the lines to check out are somewhat long normally. The staff is usually pretty friendly and helpful, slow though. Along the story of people not moving, the staff likes to leave their carts full of stuff to stock unattended in the middle of the aisles as well, so that is fun trying to push those out of the way to get by or to get the product I need. Lots of apparel/accessory clearance all the time - some good deals too! The electronics dept is rather big, as is the home and garden. Clean store, never really see anything that grosses me out. Produce always looks fresh. Well stocked, I haven't had to get a rain check for anything from this location before. Prices are typical FM prices, make sure you have your rewards card. Check by customer service for extra weekly ads; they rarely ever have any by the front doors. read more

I've been coming to this Fred Meyer for the past 7 years since I've moved to WA. This store seems like it has some character. As in it's been here for years. This store is vast and has everything you would need. Whether it's just groceries, home goods and decor, clothing, gardening, sports and outdoors, a pharmacy, Chase bank, electronics department, optical department, coffee at Starbucks, or even a day care so you can shop in peace- this is all available. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Their customer service is also amazing! I got overcharged for an item due to the system not ringing up the item for its sale price, and Stacey politely assisted me and took care of the matter so professionally and quickly. Anthony was also a huge help at the self check out line. Normally if you need assistance for either an ID check or just some random issue, some people take a while to meet you at your register. He was just on point with it and did it with a smile. The store is well stocked. If you don't see an item, one of their staff members will gladly help you find it. The only thing that has changed with Freddy's overall is the $0.50 cash back fee. I know it's only $0.50, but it just makes me wonder why they started that. I guess it's better than a regular ATM fee, if you think about it. read more

Was overcharged for gas on Friday about noon. Asked for 15 dollars and did not realize he had charged my card $50. I didnt realize it didnt stop at $15, so I stopped it at 20.81. He was distracted and on phone entire time I was there, so he apologized and handed me a refund receipt for 29.19 and said it would be back on my card immediately. I checked with my bank, no refund has been processed by Fred meyer. Talked to a manager several times yesterday and found out at 3:45pm that I had to bring my receipts in because they dont have record of it. It took over an hour because traffic was bumper to bumper from shoreline where I am staying. When I got there that manager had gone home and I was told that the morning PIC would look into it. I called about 9am and talked to that person and she told me she was too busy too look into it . Ok so she is busy, I now have been waiting over 24 hours for an answer and almost 48 since the purchase. I just need to know if it was processed. If I dont receive a call by noon, Fred Meyer will lose our household as a customer and we spend alot there as it is the main place we shop. The trip to bring the receipts in used 1/2 the gas I bought on Friday, so maybe you owe me something for my trouble! read more

Leaving things like the parking lot out of it, this store has become an utter disappointment. Since COVID-19 made an appearance, I've seen employees without masks, employees with masks under their chins, and zero being done about it. Today (6/26) in this region every single person (barring medical necessity not to) is required to wear a mask. The guy at the customer service counter with, "Son of a bitch..." on his shirt? Not wearing one. The employees milling around? Lots of them not wearing one. The customers? Not wearing them? Fred Meyer seems to be doing nothing about it. I've been a long standing fan of Fred Meyer because of its selection and pricing, but I no longer feel safe in a store that clearly doesn't care about me, my family, or my community. I don't care if I end up with pallets of things, at least the Costco nearby in Tukwila requires all persons entering to have a mask on, and their employees as well. read more
