I just paid $8.99 for day old stale donuts , and $6.64 for 5 day old chicken wings the fact that they are taking advantage BIG time of the consumer is just shameful. The donuts if you are short staffed or cant make them fresh daily should be marked down. $1.33 for left over chicken wings and they weren't even packed evenly they were in there with the tiny wing portion not the drumstick part. The manager need to be aware of what employees are doing this should not be the new norm! I realize I don't have to buy them nor do I have to shop there, but we as consumers are just excepting this treatment is not right. Love the wide variety of quality food at this location. Unfortunately, the Saturday morning cashier (8:30 am today) has an incredible attitude and very offensive manner. The store is not busy at 8-8:30 am on a Saturday morning. I was only person in line when I got to the register. She said "you can bag your own groceries" as I was busy entering my code and credit card. I don't mind helping bag groceries but I certainly do not like being told to do it all myself. I'll think twice next Saturday morning when I'm looking for a place to shop. read more

A story of two cashiers: Glenn and Tiana. After I saw "Approved" on the card machine, I asked for my receipt. The cashier said "as soon as you pay." I said I did, it said approved. She then got flustered, and called for the "help" of Glenn. I told him what had happened, and that I was sure I had paid. He didn't believe me, and told the first cashier to ring the entire $95+ transaction up again, on the next cash register. He was in no way friendly or polite from the start, barely professional, and even that modicum of civility did not last. I waited while she did this, even though I knew what I had seen, because Glenn refused to even listen to what I told him. Time came to run my card, and it was declined for insufficient funds, because the account had just been emptied by the first transaction. This means that if the funds had been there, Glenn would have made me pay TWICE for the same $95+ transaction. Thanks Safeway! I said I told you but you didn't believe me, and he started mocking me "what do you mean didn't believe you?" I said the transaction went through, I told you that, you didn't believe me. He then said "What do you mean didn't believe you?" again, laughing in my face. By now I was growing very frustrated, I told him I just want to go home with the food I've paid for. He said you have to wait. I said how long, he wouldn't answer. You just have to wait, what do you expect me to do? I said I expect you to help me, and he again just repeated himself, "You just have to wait." "How long?" "What do you expect me to do?" Help me!!! "You just have to wait." "How long?" "What do you expect me to do?" As if he had no obligation at all to actually be helpful. Or nice. I was in disbelief at how he was treating me, so I took out my phone to film him for evidence, in itself an indication of how unpleasantly bizarre things had gotten. He only laughed and mocked me more, "go ahead and film, I don't care, I'm not doing anything, they won't care," and did everything BUT actually help me. I asked why he was being so rude, and he started yelling that I was being rude, literally shouting at me across the aisles - every other cashier working witnessed, as well as many customers. I guess the manager was out for the night...? At this point, some girl came up and joined in with Glenn in mocking me, pointing and laughing, "look at this guy filming, what's wrong with you?" and continuing to verbally abuse and bully me every time I spoke after. I thought she was a customer or some random troublemaker. Then I looked closer and realized THIS WAS ANOTHER CASHIER, ganging up with her colleague to harass and abuse me for wanting to leave the store with the food I'd paid for. After 15 minutes of this, SURPRISE, the first cash register spits out my receipt. Glenn proceeds to smugly hand it to me like his point had been proven, and tells me "you can leave now." (I should mention here that at this point the first cashier did apologize profusely -- unfortunately that was nothing in the face of Glenn's behavior.) I was again flabbergasted, but started to push my cart towards the door. Glenn proceeded to walk directly beside me, shoulder-to-shoulder, staring me in the eyes with frank hostility: "I'm escorting you out." I stared back at him, in disbelief, and kept moving with him stalking along beside me, very much in my personal space, until he said "You really need to work on yourself man." I stopped in my tracks, in complete shock. This child who couldn't maintain a basic air of professionalism in his job as a Safeway clerk just told me I need to work on myself, after inflicting one of the worst customer experiences of my life on me. Along came a fourth employee, who was the picture of polite customer service. She apologized, and told me their computers HAD BEEN ACTING UP ALL NIGHT. But not only did Glenn not mention this once, never apologize in any way, he also acted like it couldn't possibly BE the computer when I told him I'd already paid, and made his colleague ring the entire transaction up again. So while this fourth person was kindly explaining the cause of the problem, and apologizing for it, Glenn and Tiana were standing directly behind her, STILL verbally abusing me, and Tiana literally called me a "dumbass," along with numerous other insults and japes. I thanked this fourth person, and asked her name (which I sadly forgot) and position: cashier. I was AGAIN taken aback. I said "So you're in the exact same position as these two, and you're treating me with pure polite professionalism, apologizing and explaining, while these other two are acting like bullies on an eighth-grade playground? Mind-boggling." So yeah, what should have been a minor inconvenience escalated instead to two cashiers insulting, abusing, and bullying me, after one of them had tried to make me pay twice for one purchase. It's horribly sad when an entire organization is represented and tarnished by such utterly rank incompetents. read more

Love this store. It is nice and clean and I love the way it is set up. It's a breath of fresh air compared to grocery stores in Carson.

Having done the official tour of all the grocery stores in town, I was happy to find a trusty Safeway. This location is a very clean, big store with good inventory and big aisles. It hasn't ever been that busy when I've been there, even on July 4th weekend. I was so excited to find Beyond brats here on promo for BOGO for the holiday - score! This was my last stop on the way home and somehow I managed to checkout with another big cart full of goodies. C'est la vie! I had a horrible experience today. First with the girl that rang me $14 for this bag of mandarins? There's a whole bunch of them under this sign and honestly ppl don't have time to read everything under the signs. Put them in RIGHT place . Secondly this coupon looks Just like these mandarins. Then Noel came along. She was rude and had a terrible attitude towards customers and was being just overall rude with another team member trying to help me. She also covered her name tag with her hair and didn't wear any Safeway shirt, hat, so no one could really tell she even works there. I told her the price was $2.99 rudely she said "these aren't it! , and if they are, I'm going to remove that price" She's obviously a very rude person and shouldn't be working at customer service at all ! Here is the proof they are Noel!! I even showed her and kept arguing. Next time go check the price yourself since your management anyway? I will be talking to another manager. read more

Terrible produce section. On more than occasion I've found rotten produce sitting on the shelf. When I do buy fruit/veggies it goes bad with a couple of days. Surprising too considering the prices. Also not a huge fan of the digital coupons/app (when it works). It's conveniently located but honestly that's about all I like here. read more

The store is clean and orderly and the staff is, for the most part, helpful. Unfortunately, the produce is not good at all, including the organic section. Very new, shiny looking grocery store. I visited this place around 10-11PM, the lights inside is quite dim, which I loved! Cuz it makes me feel safe and not exposed to the world, i'm introvert as hell. I walked around as this is my first time here. I love how they have huge selection of pre-made food! From sushi to BBQ pork buns to salad etc. Went to the meat dept, they looked similar to Whole Foods meat dept. Went to the sea food dept, emm..... the sea food didn't look so fresh, some items looked kinda dull, maybe it's the lighting. But it didn't smell good either. Wide selection of wines, beers etc. I picked a cartful of items and went to the human checkout counter, the guy was super friendly and chatty and energized, which definitely made me feel energized too! I guess a person's energy do travel. Unlike my mom, I can sense her dark, negative, draining, soul sucking energy within 50 miles radius. One employee behind the cooked food counter gave me a bit of attitude when I interrupted her cleaning to ask for a few items, she turned around and looked at me like I inconvenienced her a lot, she didn't say anything to me not even a hi or a fake smile, just walked back to the kitchen to put on some gloves, then came back and put the food I asked into a bag for me. I am not price conscious so I can't comment on the price. Overall I like it here, it's new, shiny, open space, I do love the dim lights at night( I love midnight shopping, it's quiet.) and how they open 24/7. I love the prepared food section. I think it's a good replacement for Walmart(back when they used to be 24/7) to do some late night shopping, cuz Walmart after midnight was a nightmare to shop at. read more

When calling the store to discuss, no one picks up the phone after on hold for 7 minutes. Obviously Customer Service is not on their list of priorities. I was shopping for flowers for Mother's Day and I asked an employee how much the flowers were. He looked at me as if he was staring right through me and very rudely said , Don't work over here." I could see he was watering so I knew he worked there. I then asked him if he could find someone that could help me. He laughed at me and walked away. I came back to catch his name on my way out. I told him I was going to speak to his manager. He laughed and said I won't get in trouble. His name is Stephen. It makes me wonder if management really does anything about complaints. I'm very sad to be sharing this poor review. We just started shopping at Safeway, which is in a very convenient location for us. We have been excited about this store opening! That being said, we had a horrible experience trying to pick up a cake we preordered for a birthday. The store lost its power so they had employees yelling at customers as they pulled up that they were closed due to a power outage. I came back an hour later, and then again 2 hours after that, and their power was still out. The third time we were there I went to ask the employee to pass along a message to the bakery, explaining that we wouldn't be picking up our preordered cake. She offered to get it, but only if I paid cash and she could not get me change. I told her we would have to go elsewhere because that wasn't an option for me. She then proceeded to say, "Good luck finding someone to make a cake the day of". At this point I lost it and explained she didn't need to be rude and that we would not be returning. My husband warned me about Safeway employees being entitled and rude, but I did not believe him until today. We WILL NOT be back! read more

I am a 70 year old with vertigo. I had coupons and saw the 5.00 Friday ad so I went to Safeway on Steamboat. I was a little dizzy and asked for help. The store was out of Diet Pepsi 18 pack, the .47 cent bread and muffins, the strawberry Organics granola, the free Safeway bag and I couldn't carry the free water. The store employees just kept blaming the vendors. I grabbed a rotisserie chicken 3.00 off and a signature select pizza on sale and went to the checkout. The cashier kept talking to the person in front of me even though she was already checked out. I felt very unappreciated and left without the chicken and pizza. Every time I come here they have a line of 5 to 8 people (not during rush hour even 2 pm) with only one to two out of the seven registers open. I've gone to the manager asked them to please open up an extra register - I think this is hard on their employees who have that one register operating, and most people don't like waiting 10 minutes to check out... There are other employees walking around - maybe they should be trained on the register as well read more

So happy to have a Safeway in our neighborhood!! Love the selection of fresh produce. Their deli counter and meat/seafood counter is always fresh. 3 stars due to their horrific pick-up service. Get the notifications, but when you arrive, no one shows up or answers the phone. When you do get someone, it's usually some kid with terrible customer service skills. How this place has a worse pick-up system than Walmart is beyond me. read more

What a pleasure shopping here!!! Soup to nuts (get it) this Safeway has it all; clean, organized, well staffed and well stocked. The management team does a fantastic job with the employees for they are friendly, polite and knowledgeable about product location. The butcher guys are amazing!! Ultra friendly, they know the products and even give cooking tips. Deli guys and gals, same, friendly polite and efficient. Even the outside of the store is kept clean and orderly, unlike Smiths which is always littered with cigarette butts and trash. The biggest pleasure are the employees. Besides a few grumpy ones (especially the weirdos who work the Chinese take out) everyone is so professional and friendly. I really cant imagine in 2022 finding a supermarket that shines so brightly with great service. Bravo Safeway. read more

I have given this location so, so many opportunities to not be the worst and they just keep failing. I will never shop here again. The store itself is clean and organized, but the issue is the staff and specifically the delivery/pickup staff. If you actually want the items you order, or their substitutions, don't shop here. Every single order will be glaringly, hugely, weirdly wrong. They put zero effort into shopping, or looking at the notes, or choosing non expired or rotting items. You pay a pretty hefty premium to shop at stores like this and to use their delivery service, often a necessary evil when life is too busy with work and family commitments, and this store does a worse job than any grocery delivery service out there at a much higher price. The management over the department is rude and lies, there is no recourse there. Save yourself the headache and shop where things are way less pricey and if you need delivery heaven help you if you attempt to use this place, you won't get at least half of your groceries!! read more

I had high hopes for the new Safeway after Raleys broke at store. Unfortunately, Safeway is poorly stocked, has a poor selection of gluten-free, and has higher prices than many Safeway or Albertson's stores. It's especially noticeable on items like frozen vegetables and frozen meats.This was my third time trying the store and I still have to go to Smith's. So I've concluded I might as well start at Smith's and give up being a 40 year Safeway shopper. read more

My wife has recently started shopping there because it's near our home. Please beware if you are buying steak. I just had the absolute worst ribeye steak of my life, and I'm 78 and have eaten a lot of ribeyes. Half of the steak was gristly and uneatable and the other half was not much better. Apparently, the meat guy there doesn't have a clue, or maybe he has a clue and laughs when you walk away with one of his steaks. This Safeway is awesome it has a excellent selection of coffee creamers sodas and chips a lot of more selections then the Relays one market it's better variety of things they have a lot of things that relays one market don't have and it really makes a difference me and my mom went to the store today and it was excellent experience I give this Safeway five Stars because this store saved us a lot of time and not that far from south Reno and it was worth the drive to come all the way to Safeway?. They had a lot of things Relays didn't have and I am grateful that this Safeway had my original Cereal honey bunch of oats have lost of flavors and they also have coffee mate coffee creamer selection I know a lot of people who loves coffee mate dairy creamers they also have new coffee creamer called Lucerne farms it sounds good and there was a lot of people here today on a Sunday afternoon and good apples selection. And I really love that they have much bigger selection and me and my mom will go to this Safeway for our Regular groceries!. But I recommend going here. read more
