I had a very disappointing experience at this Safeway location. The employee named Marie, who was working in the customer service line, demonstrated extremely poor customer service. Her attitude was unprofessional and unwelcoming, not only toward me but also toward other customers who were arriving. Customer service is a key part of any business, and unfortunately, Marie did not meet even basic expectations. Based on this experience, she should not be placed in a role that requires direct interaction with customers unless there is significant improvement. I go to this location all the time. The customer service is great! The manger Gabby is AWESOME!!! Always super friendly and always provides excellent customer service. Plus, she is always in good spirits. Which is rare these days! Believe me I know. I do DoorDash and Uber Eats. So, not only as a customer myself but as someone who does deliveries. I deal with a lot of different store locations. This by far is one of the better stores! Even compared to other types of businesses. It's hard to get good customer service these days. It's nice to see it hasn't completely gone away. Plus, this is one of the nicer Safeways in the East Bay. I have been in so many. All over the East Bay, Solano, Sacramento area and the Bay Area. While some merchandise was locked up, the store was well-organized that I didn't mind waiting for an employee to assist me. They came by in a timely manner. I recently stopped to get fresh bouquets for the cemetery and take out the old ones from Christmas. While I was there I showed Amy pictures of how beautiful her work looked on the crypts, and to let her know how long the flowers lasted--a total of 11 days! Employees need help with customer service especially in the deli department. When I shop at Trader Joe's or whole foods, the staff are friendly and make you feel somewhat welcome and that really goes a long way when you decide where to drop your money for groceries. You are made to feel welcome into their stores. I come to safeway for the buy 2 get 2 off and other great sales because its hard to beat but man, Corporate has to retrain and do a major overhaul on customer service and teaching their staff that even a smile at the customer goes a long way. I wanted to know if they had deviled eggs and where they would be. He pointed over to the end of the deli counter (I thought) so I went and saw nothing so I went back and asked again. Don't typically write reviews for grocery stores but this Safeway store is extremely racist. I have never been followed in a store before and the security and staff followed me and my 8 year old the whole time. Although this store is clean and well put together. I see from the multitude of comments that state the same thing as myself, that this store needs to do some extensive training on not judging customers by their skin. One security guard came down the aisle and watched me, as I went into self check out the clerk stood right next to me and security followed me outside. I literally went in for protein bagels & Lysol multi purpose cleaner. If I go back i will take down names but this behavior is disgusting. read more

In addition, I am an avid user of the ForU app which gives us a lot of discounts in different items on produce and even some for free. What's more annoying is they've just stopped having any cashiers around unless it's rush hour. Waited for 10 minutes to order something from the deli, the deli worker walked right past me to help someone who had been waiting for one minute. I left without ordering anything from the deli. Did self checkout and tried to leave with my groceries only to find there was an electronic gate to exit self check out. It would have been nice to know I needed to scan my receipt bar code at the electronic gate before I put my receipt in the very bottom of my shopping bag. The good: The Safeway app is a great way to save money. Make sure you look at the weekly deals and your deals. The best deals will always be in weekly deals. Also take a park at the weekly add because certain sells will be day specific. Usually Friday or Monday. These coupons will only show up on that day. Use the list to remember what you need to buy. The veggies are usually fresh but be careful of the fruit. Don't buy in a bag. It's old and the worst fruit. Items are always kept in the same place, so I can get in and out fast. The bad: I had a 70+ yo cashier who was the only one open and no baggers. It's really hard to make sure I'm not being overcharged (which happens all the time) and bad my own groceries. It's common to have 1 lane open. When meat is on sale, try to avoid going at night. Go when the meat counter is open so they can help you. You will earn rewards on your online purchase. They can expire. They can be worth $7-$10 off or worth free food. Gas rewards also expire. Check your receipt. The prices are often incorrect and you may have to go to customer service before you leave for a refund. I think the deli closes at 7. If you want on sale deli meat, you will have to get it from the deli. Only Boars Head is available sliced and packaged. read more

The dude and I came here on 01/17/21 to pick up a cake for the dudes grandpa who turned 93 years old! I was suggesting to the dude that we pick up the cake from a Mexican bakery as the cakes are less sweet and pretty tasty but the dude didn't listen. Due to the holiday most cakes were picked over already. The dude wanted to get a whipped cream frosting cake as it's lighter and most cakes looked like they were whipped cream but he doesn't listen to me and wanted to ask staff member which they were totally busy so we decided to try a Mexican bakery. But before we left we picked up two more bottles of wine for his grandma who is also her 90s as well. She is a fan of Red wine so when we come down to visit I usually have a glass or two with her. We also picked up a macaroni salad to go along with the meal the dudes dad was making. Overall, we didn't get the cake here but it was my first time shopping at Safeway and it was a pleasant experience. The staff was friendly and wearing face masks. We didn't really explore the store as much as I would like but it is like an upscale Vons or Save Mart. As they have a deli and bakery section and probably more unique finds too! I really recommend Safeway pharmacy, you can get a flu shot or Covid 19 vaccine there with almost no wait time and you also get a 10% off grocery coupon with flu or Covid 19 immunizations, the staff is nice and friendly, especially Nima he does a really job explaining about how to use a medication and the side effects of the medication. read more

The two that helped us were very friendly last night and it's just a big change from my last visit where he was trying to practically tackle us for paying at the pharmacy. However we did go up to the front instead of using the pharmacy this time so maybe that's also why and it was night time. The lady in the subway area what a horrible customer service I was ordering. A breakfast burrito, I assume that the service comes with a full egg not half, she stated that it would be an additional 1$ for a full egg, for sauce on the tortilla extra $1 so for basically if I ask for ham she will add half of ham and charge me $1 for the full ham. Plus very negative attitude I just believe should hire people who are looking forward to work and if your with attitude take a break. Or eat something before presenting yourself to a customer. I walked out. Plus a blond hair lady, looking at me if I was going to steel something like there's more people , homeless steeling without doing anything . My rating is zero due to poor customer service. I was at the store this afternoon, Safeway located in Pleasant Hill. I had 3 items and was in line in the 15 item or less checkout as other customers waiting as well. The cashier, Kim allowed a customer with around 60 items in the fast lane and us waiting and the line growing. I mentioned that the check out was for 15 items or less, Kim made sure to point out that only 2 regular check stands were open with big lines and her pulling a customer with big order and if I didn't like it to go stand on the other long line. Few customers behind me pointed out to her that she was wrong for telling me that. I hope a conversation with your cashiers will help them to keep the situation under control instead of saying " go stand in another line if you like it. read more

I don't have to go in, shop with a lot of people touching the same things, and stand in line. I also didn't have time to do groceries last night, but I wanted to cook for my SIL's bday. Her favorite pasta is Frutti di Mare(seafood pasta) but I didn't have any ingredients(oh no!). So I loaded my Safeway online cart at 7pm with frozen seafood medley, Clam juice, chopped clams, angel hair & spaghetti noodles(coz I couldn't decide, imagine if I was in the store) and picked up my order after it was ready at 8am.
