Mortadella, Head Cheese, and Provolone on Dutch Crunch roll $10.99

This market has more unique offerings than a grocery store such as Lucky's. There's more high-end items. The meat department has almost any cut of meat you might need. The produce selection is very good. The downside here is the price, but if you buy the items that are on special for the week, it's close to buying at a regular grocery store. The deli selection is great too. I ordered a sandwich from their deli and waited about 10 minutes for two sandwiches to be made. The spreads on the sandwich did not overpower, and the flavor of the meats came through. It was not salty as some deli sandwiches can be.

Some of the best vegan gummies! (At the register)

It's located on the borderline of Walnut Creek and Alamo-ish areas, and certainly not in an area most people would be driving by unless you live in this area since it's mostly residential here, or you're driving through Olympic locally for something in that direction that's not the downtown. First things first, it's a small place. It's a local market, so it's not going to be very large. They do have their own parking lot in the front, and there's also plenty of parking in the back as well, so that shouldn't be an issue here even though the store is small. While I've seen some people note this as a Japanese market, it is not. While they carry a small section of Japanese stuff, here, most of the things are very much a Chinese focused type of offerings, from the types of produce, to the packaged stuff here. They'll have some miscellaneous stuff like a section just for pastas and sauces in the right side of the store on a rack, they're mostly a Chinese market. If you need a comparison, they're like a mini 99 Ranch. Price wise, it's about right for this area. If you compare it to other grocery market chains it's definitely not comparable, but for a local market in this area, it's not bad. The fish is indeed on the more expensive side, but it does look pretty fresh at least so there's that. They also have some to-go sushi boxes of stuff. It's nice to see they have a variety of offerings from their sushi to-go options, albeit, not cheap but at least they did look pretty good though. The sashimi boxes looked great because the fish quality appears to be great here. The only thing again, it is a bit pricey for some of these options, so just be aware of that. Green Fish is a nice little market for this area, and certainly will have a variety of things here you may be interested in. Again, it's not a large market, so just be aware of space if they do get busy. The fish counter is literally wedged into the corner of the store, but still offers fresh seafood options for those locally to buy from (albeit a bit pricey). They have offerings of various things akin to 99 Ranch, but certainly more focused on mostly Chinese and Japanese as oppose to Ranch that offers a lot of different Asian brands too. While they have pastas and sauces and stuff, that's basically it for the non-Asian market stuff. This is very much an Asian market. I will definitely want to try out some of those takeout rolls and maybe their sashimi eventually.

One cashier, an older white lady with a grey fade called over someone from the captain's desk who was a doofus of a manager. He was a swarthy, middle-aged man, slightly heavyset and possibly Latin American. He didn't help me and treated me as if I was in the ghetto refusing to put the POS machine into manual mode so I could enter my number. The white woman cashier and I proceeded to run my old card which I knew didn't work. I told the woman that I would just try a different register and she was continuing to gaslight me. The woman cashier went to the captains desk to speak about whatever behind me back. The entire situation felt awkward. Furthermore, the employees at the captain's desk appeared flustered and unhelpful, so I decided not to speak with them. I took my things and went to an empty line with a nice and helpful young man that actually checked my ID for wine. The swarthy middle aged manger followed me over and was asking the cashier I was with questions and he eventually left me alone because the cashier helped and said that my name matched. The swarthy gentleman should be given a raise by Trader Joe's because he's obviously trying to work hard - maybe he could be their security guard. If they think they have a fraud case, they should honestly just call the police since they will come out and try to talk to whomever about whatever problems they are having. The food is very good as they have some products that Costco and Whole Foods do not carry. The ambience makes me feel defiant even if there are occasional confrontations with weird managers or employees that don't seem to know what they are doing exactly or feel difficult at the time. I would like less attitude and more competent and helpful employees helping me near the exit. I'd like it if the atmosphere and customer service could be even more consistently better without regard to when it is or whom they have as a customer at the time.

Fortunately, the food inside lives up to the '80's music. This place is a little Eastern-European treasure chest. The meat selection alone is worth the trip: excellent veal sausages, proper kabanosy (both American-made and the legit European imports), and enough smoked and cured options to make you reconsider every bland sandwich you've ever eaten. Then there's the sweets. Not just a few shelves: an impressively deep lineup of Eastern European treats, both loose and packaged. The kind where you walk in thinking you'll grab one thing and leave with three mysterious chocolates and something wrapped in gold foil. It's also my most reliable solution for a sudden Żywiec beer craving. And if that's not the mood, there's always a jar of pickled mushrooms waiting patiently. In short: a small, charming deli that punches way above its size... and yes, I still sing the Kate Bush song every single time I go.

This time, though, I wanted to try something different, so I went with the chicken and mushroom filling. It was also very tasty. One thing I really like is that they focus more on the filling, and the bread is not too thick. It always has that slightly greasy goodness in the best way. So yummy. As much as I enjoyed the food, my interaction with the woman working there this time was not great. When I arrived, she was unpacking a box. She saw me but did not greet me or ask if I was ready to order. I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes before she finally asked. It would have been nice to be acknowledged right away. I ordered two different fillings, and when she was packing them, I asked if she could please label them so I would know which one was which. She responded by saying, "I wasn't going to make you guess." I did not find that very friendly. In fact, I thought it was borderline rude. I still really enjoyed the food, but that interaction took away from the overall experience a little bit. I wish the customer service had been a bit warmer.
