I really enjoy coming to this hidden gem in Walnut Creek. The owner is friendly and the baked bread and cooked food are both very good and home style. The reason for the 3 stars is because last time I was there the guy behind the counter put the salad shirazi without a plastic wrapper in the same bag as the baklava!! This is a sour salad dressing which naturally spilled out and marinated my baklava so my baklava was completely ruined . Can you imagine the thoughtlessness that must have gone into that? I was quite upset when I got home to see the bag soaked in the salad shirazi dressing and my baklava completely ruined . Aaahhh I really dont want to bash on this place, as I'm sure running a small grocery store is no piece of cake, but I firmly believe they need to do better!! They don't seem to follow the health and safety regulations!! I shopped here two days ago. The cashier (an elderly guy who is always rude and grumpy) was about to sneeze, so he REMOVED HIS MASK and sneezed into his hands!!!!!! He used the same hands to put my groceries into the bags!!!!!! This place has the best Persian food in the Bay Area for a Deli place or even a fast food restaurant. Authentic Persian cooking by an Azari chef. The quality and quantity is unbeatable. Her husband no better than her It's like you're not wanted there . Moreover when you place your food order over the phone they don't ask your name or phone number and chances are they give your food to someone else ! That actually happened to me ! Another time when I placed my order and went to pick it up they said they ran out of kabob . And yes there was a time that they overcharged me. I'm surprised after seeing all these negative comments from seven months ago they haven't even tried to improv their service and most importantly their attitude. Went today to buy goat meat. Great service to begin with. The butcher took the time to find the right piece for me as I wanted 2 lbs of goat meat. He picked a shoulder and cut the right size out of it. He cut the pieces to right size and also cleaned the extra fat of it. So I will give 5 stars for service. I went on a Friday around 5pm. The meat looks tender and fresh so for quality 5 stars. So why I am giving this place 4 stars. Price was on the high side by 2 bucks a pound. Paid $8.99/ lbs after cleaning it costed around $10/lbs which is expensive than crab meat. So would have been happy if the price was $6.99/lbs. with the high price paid, will Ty to find another place if possible. read more

But almost everything goes out the window, and you would lose interest in going back after you meet the lady at the cash register. Bazar Tajrish is a gift to Persians and Middle Eastern who live in Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill area. Pretty much you can find all you need to cook Persian food and also it's a Deli. The food quality is good, it's not something unique, but it's super convenient and prices are reasonable. Deli foods are even better than many other Persian restaurants. I also used to buy meat from Bazar Tajrish, they were good. Like other local stores, it could be more neat, but it's not bad at all. read more

You gotta try the taftoon bread. It was amazing. They make it at night so even though it was a day old I put in toaster them added feta cheese and it took me back 40 years ago back in Iran. They have everything else too. I will try the barbaree next time they make it in the morning. read more

We go to the Polish School across the street. While my husband is Polish, I am Egyptian and am always looking for middle eastern markets. We went there and they do have a nice store, but it seems like it is rather persian / afghani oriented. They do try to bring in variety though. It is a place worth visiting at least once. read more

I love this place! Best gheimeh and ghormeh sabzi (after my moms food of course). I wish other Persians wouldn't complain so much. In most other states, you don't get the luxury of a Persian grocery store with fresh food! If you don't love the food, spend an entire day in the kitchen and cook your own. read more

This place is probably not Persian, because I am and I have on good authority from my grandfather who is WAY more Persian than me saying, "Persians?! No, it's run by a bunch of Arabs."...which could be true. It's very good store I like shopping there I used to spend a lot of money there until one day I wanted to return something and they gave me a hard time they said this is not Safeway you can't return things.
