I don't usually write reviews, but after this experience I felt like I had to…read more I went to this Safeway to buy Orajel for pain relief because I've been dealing with a painful cut on my tongue that was healing slowly. The pain had gotten pretty bad. When I got to the shelf, the product was missing except for a sign that said, "Limited shelf stock, please see customer service." I went to the guest service area and waited patiently since nobody was there. After a few minutes, a woman came out of the office and asked, "Did you need something?" I explained that I was looking for Orajel and the sign directed me there. She responded by saying, "Oh no, this area is closed." Confused, I asked if she could still help me. She said no because she had the safe open in the office and told me I'd have to go to customer service, then went back into the office and shut the door. At that point, I was honestly stunned. I asked another employee nearby taking out the trash where customer service was, and he smirked and said, "That right there," pointing to where I was already standing. Normally I wouldn't make a big deal out of something like this, but I was in a lot of pain and felt like I was just getting the runaround. Thankfully, my girlfriend noticed the Orajel was actually locked behind the counter. Then an employee named Willy, who was working one of the registers, called out and asked if I needed help. Willy came over immediately, helped locate the product, logged into customer service himself, and tried to unlock the case.. but then the key actually broke off in the lock. At that point I was thinking, "You can't make this stuff up." Even after that, Willy still went above and beyond. He used a grabber tool to retrieve the product from the locked case, rang us up, and completely turned the situation around. I'm writing this review because Willy gave me some of the best customer service I've had in a long time after one of the most frustrating experiences I've had at a store. Huge shoutout to Willy! He's the only reason I'd come back to this location.

This traders is always packed and if you know traders it's a bunch of people blocking aisles and texting while being in the way. The aisles are always packed my least favorite thing about this store. But what drives me nuts is how people with more than 15 items get in the 15 items or less lane and the cashier doesn't tell them no. Because they know they can get away with it, they'll do it every time. The cashiers need to put a stop to this. Someone's in the line with more than 15 and I don't care how long they've been there, they'll cashier tells them to go to another line I guarantee they'll stop doing it. Was there yesterday, totally packed, two people in front of me in the 15 or less lane, both with more than 15. Turns out it would have been faster for me to go to another lane. But will the managers ever enforce this? Nope. They're reading my review laughing at how dumb I am for going into their store. I wish a sprouts would open up around here.

It's located on the borderline of Walnut Creek and Alamo-ish areas, and certainly not in an area most people would be driving by unless you live in this area since it's mostly residential here, or you're driving through Olympic locally for something in that direction that's not the downtown. First things first, it's a small place. It's a local market, so it's not going to be very large. They do have their own parking lot in the front, and there's also plenty of parking in the back as well, so that shouldn't be an issue here even though the store is small. While I've seen some people note this as a Japanese market, it is not. While they carry a small section of Japanese stuff, here, most of the things are very much a Chinese focused type of offerings, from the types of produce, to the packaged stuff here. They'll have some miscellaneous stuff like a section just for pastas and sauces in the right side of the store on a rack, they're mostly a Chinese market. If you need a comparison, they're like a mini 99 Ranch. Price wise, it's about right for this area. If you compare it to other grocery market chains it's definitely not comparable, but for a local market in this area, it's not bad. The fish is indeed on the more expensive side, but it does look pretty fresh at least so there's that. They also have some to-go sushi boxes of stuff. It's nice to see they have a variety of offerings from their sushi to-go options, albeit, not cheap but at least they did look pretty good though. The sashimi boxes looked great because the fish quality appears to be great here. The only thing again, it is a bit pricey for some of these options, so just be aware of that. Green Fish is a nice little market for this area, and certainly will have a variety of things here you may be interested in. Again, it's not a large market, so just be aware of space if they do get busy. The fish counter is literally wedged into the corner of the store, but still offers fresh seafood options for those locally to buy from (albeit a bit pricey). They have offerings of various things akin to 99 Ranch, but certainly more focused on mostly Chinese and Japanese as oppose to Ranch that offers a lot of different Asian brands too. While they have pastas and sauces and stuff, that's basically it for the non-Asian market stuff. This is very much an Asian market. I will definitely want to try out some of those takeout rolls and maybe their sashimi eventually.

had a very uncomfortable experience at checkout today…read more Their POS system repeatedly failed to process my card, and instead of clearly explaining the issue, the cashier kept saying "it's over the limit," which was both misleading and unprofessional. My card was not over the limit, and the issue was clearly with the payment terminal or transaction processing, since another card worked immediately. What made the situation worse was that another customer behind me loudly commented, "she spent too much," in front of everyone. This was incredibly rude and inappropriate. The cashier did nothing to manage the situation and instead became defensive. Payment issues can happen, but staff should be trained to communicate clearly and professionally--especially when a customer is already in an uncomfortable situation. Public embarrassment should never be part of the checkout experience. Very disappointing.
