They are opening a little later hours now which is great given that it can hard to get there after work. Overall, we have been impressed with the knowledge of team members supporting their fresh seafood section, and they are transparent in their sourcing of fish and shellfish, along with providing suggestions on how best to prepare them. Seafood is not cheap so if you are going to invest, you want good quality, and that's what you'll find. Generally, their fruits and vegetables are high quality as well, and sometimes you just have to sort through them to find the best choices. We also love not having to travel to Concord or the Tri-Valley to grab certain Asian pantry items. Service is also friendly and efficient too, so hope people support this local market -- you won't be disappointed!

Unfortunately, some of the employees here come across as rude, and whenever I actually need assistance, it's often difficult to find anyone available. On multiple occasions, I've also been greeted by a strong smell of urine when entering through the produce/floral entrance--not exactly the best first impression. I considered giving this location 1 star, but there are a few genuinely kind employees who help make the experience better, and the store is usually well-stocked. It's convenient if you only need to grab a few essentials, but it's not the most enjoyable place to shop--especially if you're someone like me who actually enjoys grocery shopping as a leisure activity.

I am not a big fan of Safeway in general. Among the reasons for this is that the store employees…read moreare rarely available to assist, and when they are, they almost always simply direct customers to the aisle they think the item they are looking for should be on. I miss the days when they would actually walk with customers to the exact spot and show them the item. My experience this past weekend was particularly egregious. I tried using a Safeway raincheck that been issued to me when salmon fillets were on sale and they were out of stock at the store I went to. After selecting the fillets and waiting in line to check out, I showed the cashier the raincheck. The cashier looked at the raincheck and told me that they could not accept it because it had been issued at a different store. She referred to the store number on the raincheck. I have several thoughts about this interaction. 1) Not a single Safeway customer knows the store number of any of the stores they shop at. They might have a preferred store close to home, but most customers probably shop occasionally at a different Safeway near work or a friend's or elsewhere. 2) Not only does the raincheck not say anything about only being accepted only at the store where it was issued; it lists 12 partner stores that should also accept it! Safeway's own policy (https://www.safeway.com/foru/coupon-policy.html - see #25) clearly states that rainchecks will be accepted at any Albertsons banner store that has the specific item in stock. 3) Even setting all of this aside, I was in disbelief that the cashier would prefer to have the salmon (that, for what it is worth, had been packaged a couple days earlier and had to be sold soon) continue sitting out rather than purchased by a customer. If you have any decent alternative, I would avoid this Safeway entirely.

I remember they used to have a single layer berry chantilly cake at this location. However, they didn't have it this time and the only small cake/desset they had that we liked was the fruit tart. So, I got that instead. I asked the bakery staff if they can write Happy Birthday for me and she gladly said yes and did it for me. I really appreciate it that. The fruit tart was fresh and delicious even after sitting in my fridge for 2 days. And, it was at a very reasonable price of $15.99! I have been to this Whole Foods many times and usually the service is great and the store is clean and well-stocked. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you go. Overall, we like the bakery and this is our go-to Whole Foods store.

I parked all the way at the very end far from the store so people who are less able to walk can get closer parking (common courtesy). As I did that I went into Whole Foods to shop for groceries but also had to pick up an order from Paris baguette which is next door. When the Whole Foods KAREN(mind you this was and old white male who works at Whole Foods) tells at me to move my car and that I can't pick something up from across the way after I shopped at Whole Foods. He said it's not my problem move your car! Literally yelling at me in front of everyone!!! How embarassing. Meanwhile I saw a family of 4, another women and another group of people park their car, not go into Whole Foods and went to Paris baguette to sit and eat there while parking in the Whole Foods parking spot and they didn't get yelled at to move their car-he allowed them to and I physically witnessed them drive in from the Main Street park their car and walk across the way to a different store and NOT Whole Foods! This is absolute discrimination of color clearly because I'm not Caucasian he decided to yell at me and not tell the other group of people to move it! I at least shopped at Whole Foods so this was just ridiculous! I've shopped at the Lafayette Whole Foods the Walnut Creek one on ygnacio and the ones in SF never have I been treated this way. BY FAR THE WORST WHOLE FOODS IVE EVER BEEN TO! the discrimination is unreal

Fortunately, the food inside lives up to the '80's music. This place is a little Eastern-European treasure chest. The meat selection alone is worth the trip: excellent veal sausages, proper kabanosy (both American-made and the legit European imports), and enough smoked and cured options to make you reconsider every bland sandwich you've ever eaten. Then there's the sweets. Not just a few shelves: an impressively deep lineup of Eastern European treats, both loose and packaged. The kind where you walk in thinking you'll grab one thing and leave with three mysterious chocolates and something wrapped in gold foil. It's also my most reliable solution for a sudden Żywiec beer craving. And if that's not the mood, there's always a jar of pickled mushrooms waiting patiently. In short: a small, charming deli that punches way above its size... and yes, I still sing the Kate Bush song every single time I go.

This time, though, I wanted to try something different, so I went with the chicken and mushroom filling. It was also very tasty. One thing I really like is that they focus more on the filling, and the bread is not too thick. It always has that slightly greasy goodness in the best way. So yummy. As much as I enjoyed the food, my interaction with the woman working there this time was not great. When I arrived, she was unpacking a box. She saw me but did not greet me or ask if I was ready to order. I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes before she finally asked. It would have been nice to be acknowledged right away. I ordered two different fillings, and when she was packing them, I asked if she could please label them so I would know which one was which. She responded by saying, "I wasn't going to make you guess." I did not find that very friendly. In fact, I thought it was borderline rude. I still really enjoyed the food, but that interaction took away from the overall experience a little bit. I wish the customer service had been a bit warmer.
