Very BAD customer service. Called Rivermark Safeway to pick up my prescription and spoke with the Pharmacist. She put me on hold 4 times without my consent, told me my prescription was called in a long time ago which was Sept 11th (had a family emergency and had to go out of town) told me she doesn't know anything about second prescription, then said Oh! you get that over the counter-don't you know that??--WTF! and it goes on--VERY VERY Rude and then hung up on me. My doctor scoffed at how cheap this pharmacy is about dispensing meds, lol. I used to get my levothyroxine filled here but damn, the customer experience here is soooooo crappy I switched pharmacies. This review is for the pharmacist Chappy (sp?). Since I've been having issues with my pregnancy, he's been the one primarily helping me out with my medication. After an eventful stint in the ER over some preterm labor symptoms, I was finally discharged home on time-sensitive medications to help prevent further contractions. Unfortunately there was a big screw up with my hospital outpatient pharmacy so they forwarded my script to Rivermark Safeway (long story). Rivermark was not informed it was a stat med, nor did my hospital even bother to check on the availability of the med knowing I had to take it soon. When I called Rivermark, they were so kind and understanding. Their hands were tied since they didn't have the med, so my husband and I went on to call random CVS pharmacies to see if they'd have the med available. Unbeknownst to us, Chappy was also checking on the inventory at other Safeway pharmacies on my behalf. That was really going above and beyond. Chappy connected with the Milpitas Safeway pharmacy and had the order expedited. That's truly the sign of a thoughtful and caring healthcare professional. He didn't stop at his job and say "oh well, not my problem" even though it wasn't his responsibility at all. Instead he helped a patient out during a stressful time. My husband and I were grateful and touched by his actions. I wish more people like him existed in the world. read more

The worst pharmacy ever... employees don't care at all about their customers. Many people are sick waiting in big lines and they won't even look up to say "We/I will be right with you" that's common courtesy people! Seriously, there will be 5-10 people in line and the two or three employees are at the back counter supposedly getting prescriptions ready... They finally told me that after I started letting them know they have a big line. This is not the first time either. We have tried 4 times this week to pick up prescriptions. They tell me management has left and when I asked for the number to a district manager... they gave me their own number. I've been dropping by pretty frequently here since my thyroidectomy, so I always need to refill on meds. The staff has always been on top of things whenever I came by to pick up my prescription and I think since I've been coming so often, they're starting to remember who I am. I usually drop by on weekdays around 4pm without waiting too long. Not sure when all these other Yelpers are dropping by, but if you time it right, you really don't have to be standing around as long as you say. I'm usually in and out within 10-15 minutes. This pharmacy is the best. In spite of lines and disgruntled customers, the pharmacy managers and their staff stay positive, professional and friendly. Customers don't realize that these folks have to interact with doctor's offices and insurance companies, who often don't get back to them in a timely manner. And then, they have to deal with rude, inpatient, angry customers. The folks at the Rivermark pharmacy are awesome and should be commended for their patience and professionalism. read more

Very bad experience. They have no idea if the medicine is in their stock or not. When I went they told me to come at 7:30. At 7:30 pm they informed that they don't have the stock. It was too late to try another pharmacy. Never going back there again. They don't understand the importance of medicine for a patient. read more

Their staff is rude most of the times specially if you call them they are always in a rush and not friendly at all I understand it's a pharmacy but doesn't cost anything to be courteous. Too bad Rite Aid got closed down I wouldn't have bothered to switch over to this pharmacy. They also don't call you once they have received the referral from the doctor. Rite Aid always called you to inform your medicine is ready to be picked up. When you call them to make sure your prescription is ready they never have it ready regardless for how many days prior your doctor has sent the prescription to the pharmacy. Sharing a comment is a way of room for improvement but I really need to disagree what others people experiences. I give a KUDOS 5 Stars of the whole TEAM/STAFF OF SAFEWAY PHARMACY RIVERMARK . We need to know that there are things that need to be remember. Patience : upon submitting our prescription to the pharmacist or tech, they will do there best to contact the PCP and insurance to confirm the prescribed medicine and most of the times they also have to wait. We need to express always that attitude of understanding in order to know why we wait a certain time for our medications. Tip:: Always contact the pharmacy first or provide your cellphone number with them in order to get notification when your prescription is ready for pick up. Don't open at time. Bad service. They fail to let you know when something is not on stock. Happened to me several times.

Every time I refill a prescription, I ask to get notified that my prescription is ready by call or text. In the year I've been going here, I haven't gotten one call and I'll get texts that my prescription is ready for pickup hours (or days!) after I've picked up the medication. I always have to call to check if my prescription is ready. I don't mind the long wait times, but was does bother me is when I call to check on my prescription, I have been told on more than one occasion (I wish I was making this up) "Oh yeah, we got that yesterday. Do you want us to fill it?" They always seem genuinely surprised that they got a prescription sent to them. I've never had them fill an order my doctor sent over until I call. What's most frustrating is that on more than one occasion, they'll wait until I come to pick it up to tell me there is an issue with my prescription or insurance. I went to pick up my ADHD meds today (which my doctor sent in early Monday morning) and the pharmacist told me, while holding my prescription, there was an issue with my insurance and I couldn't get my meds. While I mentioned that I would have appreciated if they would have informed me of this earlier (nicely of course, I've worked in customer service before), the pharmacist bluntly said it was my fault -even though I had no idea there was any issue with my insurance. read more

I went to the doctor and had the doctor's office send my prescription to this pharmacy before 10am on a Friday. I go to pick it up after work at 5pm and they're unable to fill my prescription. I ask why they didn't call me to let me know. They tell me they were just about to call me. Either way it's too late because the doctor's office is close and Monday is a holiday. I legitimately don't understand a lot of the bad reviews for this place. Seems to me people are just complaining about routine pharmacy stuff that nobody likes anywhere, and they just don't like how popular this Safeway is. The staff is uniformly excellent - they legitimately go out of their way for me for a list of medications that are really not easy to get, stock, or manage. They are ridiculously prompt, super friendly, and very knowledgeable and open about how things work. Always willing to help me navigate a lot of the complexities in the healthcare world! This pharmacy may very well employ some of the most moronic individuals that ever made the mistake of getting into this industry; regretfully, it's the patients that pay for their error in judgement when choosing their vocation. Not only is their customer service sorely lacking any semblance of basic human apathy, each and every member of the staff exude a level of ineptitude that would have you questioning if they're able to walk and chew gum at the same time. They will rarely have your prescriptions ready when they say; and that is regardless of whether you've had your refills submitted by their automated system, online orders or (worst of all) in person when you're forced to try and interact with these miserable people. You really need to give yourself a fair amount of buffer time before you make the trip to pick them up or you will most likely find yourself wandering aimlessly in Safeway while you wait for them to get their act together. They also don't seem to understand the concept of patient privacy. Regardless of who you get "helping" you, they all feel the need to list off your medications quite loudly while you're in front of them; completely ignoring the proximity of the next customer well within earshot of your consult. Also, I've lost count of the number of times I was given the wrong price to pay because they'll keep losing insurance information or inexplicably forget to apply your insurance/coupons to your pick-up. Steer clear of this crapshow and the rude jerks who stand snidely behind the counter. If you have another option to get your prescriptions at, do yourself a favor and use it. read more

Understaffed. Slow. Long lines. Very long lines. Like never ending. Normally i buy my medicines online but this time i had an urgency that needed to be done via a normal pharmacy faster. Service was normal, not too many questions asked for being the first time visiting them, just too slow and when went to pick up my med i had to wait too long and also i think i would have appreciated more information about some drops over the counter i was requesting info about. Should have checked the reviews for this place, before visiting. I visited this place today, when I was suffering from several allergic reaction and came to this place just after the doctor's visit. My condition was clearly visible on my face, but the staff did not had any concern about it. I was told, that since the Pharmacist is going for lunch it will take 2 hours to get my medicines !! Something that are outright negative about this place: 1) Unprofessional and rude behavior of the receptionist and cashier 2) Receiptionist lied about Pharmacist availability. When, I asked to cancel my order and talked about going to another place, she agreed to provide the medics on time. 3) Going to this place during busy hours (Lunch time, Evening time), think again. It is impossible to find a parking unless you are damn lucky. Also, in some reviews I read that people believe that this is a 24 hours pharmacy. However, thats not true. The pharmacy closes at around 9 PM and the pharmacist availability is shady before one hour of closing time. Please be careful. I would prefer CVS or Walgreens any day. read more

Very but extremely bad customer service. They think they make a favor to the customer. They are rude, grumpy, bad attitude. I use to come here 5 years ago. I stop coming beaucse of the stff. I thought to try again since I was shopping at Safeway to transfers my medication from Target to Safeway Pharmacy.. Well the lady who was at the computer (customer service )was very impolite, then I mention I need to transfer my medication and It seams like she hears I want to borrow a millions dollars from her. Wow, I was in shock. She did not care at all about me. If a customer come to your store to buy products from you, you pharmasicsts are going to have a job, we customer pay for the product and service, you pharmasicsts are going to have a salary, YES! Thanks to the customer. So you better start thinking how to tread your customers. I do not know how this pharmacy still in business, I think is more beaucse we all human been need medication and we need a place to get that medication, Safeway pharmacy really is in business because of the need we have. I might be a little biased because I'm always the last person at the end of a long line. I was here for the first time so I had to wait in the long line. There is an online system to manage your prescription filling so in theory if you're already registered, you can just go for the pick up portion which eliminates one line you have to stand in. Due to the location in the store it's a little annoying because there's always people with carts weaving in and out. My prescription was ready in about 20 minutes which was fine because I was able to get some grocery shopping done. The staff was actually surprisingly good spirited after facing many fed up customers! read more

I used to live right near a brand-new Walgreens with a drive-thru window and automatic email notifications when your prescriptions are ready. Now I live near this Safeway which fills my auto-refills at random times and has only managed to notify me when two of my past four prescriptions were ready to be picked up. Per the latter issue, two months ago one of the techs was scribbling down info on a scrap of paper to "track down the problem" with "the computer" not notifying patients when prescriptions were ready. Cut to me wondering today where the hell my prescription was, only to call them and find out they filled it on the 28th (a week before they were supposed to) and never told me it was ready. Ech. Time to switch over to the new Target and see if they can do any worse. read more

Maybe it's because they're the only pharmacy for miles around in a neighborhood full of parents of young kids, but this pharmacy is swamped, understaffed, and a real hassle to deal with. Employee named Lina is extremely rude and disrespectful to co-workers. I observed her on several occasions talking down to her co-workers. I've unfortunately reported this to the management team. Obviously because her unacceptable behavior hasn't changed, leads me to believe nothing was addressed. I will be contacting corporate about this... She also selects who she will engage in a conversation with in line and who she will roll her eyes at. I've been coming to this location since I moved in to my new place years ago across the street. I have had enough and have to voice my observations. She appears to be a "Bully" in the work place with her co-workers and customers. HORRIBLE customer service on more than one occasion. We've gone back for the convenience but NEVER AGAIN. I will go further for better and competant assistance. Today's issue: We arrived to drop off a prescription straight from the drs office and was told it would take approximately 20mins. When we came to pick it up 30mins later, we were told we had to come back in an hour because the pharmacist was on lunch. There was no easily visible signage stating that you couldn't pick up your order while he was gone, and the woman at the counter never made it clear that time was an issue. This is something that we have had filled before, 2 crying babies in tow and a super sick husband. They wouldn't budge, even tho we declined pharmacist assistance. Worst customer experience at Safeway Pharmacy. Do not go here. The lady at the customer service counter didn't help and didn't even pretend to care. Went in for some prenatal vitamins which were on Buy 1 Get 1 free. They had only one bottle left so went over to customer care to ask if they could find me another bottle or give me half off on the last bottle (Rite Aid has made this adjustment in the past). She plainly said that they had whatever was out there, didn't bother checking if they had more and that I should pay full price on one bottle. I have been waiting on a prescription for 2 weeks. They sat on it for one week doing nothing and now it's back and forth with the doctor. They have filled incorrect prescriptions. They had someone sign out on my prescription in error and that was a circus to get resolved. The store itself never has enough check out people so there are always long lines. I am so done with this store. Updated 11/2. Once again, they filled the incorrect prescription. Called the pharmacist and was told the correct prescription would be ready the next day. Two days later I go to pick it up. It's not ready and there are no refills on the prescription that I discussed at length just 3 days ago. They are incompetent, service is very poor, and they don't care. Take my advice and take your business elsewhere. read more

This pharmacy is conveniently located in walk distance to my house. While I appreciate the location, the customer service they provide is very inconsistent. Depending on who is working that day, the service varies from fast and efficient to you standing at the drop off window and being ignored for 5 min. The woman working there was upset that I came early and made me wait in the waiting room because it wasn't a half hour yet.
