Was hoping that this would be better than the Lucky that used to be in this location. In some ways it's better A newer store, more stock of things that I would expect from a Safeway. But the lines are abysmal. It always takes me 3x longer to check out that it is to grab my groceries. And we've also had outdated dairy and seafood products - had to go back to get a refund on crabs we bought because they were spoiled. So probably don't depend on this place for fresh seafood or meats, but the staples seem ok if you're willing to wait in a long line lol! read more

I went there around 7:20pm on October 1st, stayed in the self checkout line for about 8 minutes, I bought ice cream and two bottles of orange juices, I separated two transactions because I needed to pay with my WIC card for the juices. At first I scanned my ice cream and paid with cash, after I finished the first transaction, then I started it over for my orange juices, I used my WIC card to make payment but it wasn't successful, so I asked for assistance, I waited at the machine for about 8 minutes, finally the lady came, her name was Mxxxxx, I was told that self checkout didn't work for WIC card, she asked me to go back to the regular line to use my WIC, when I looked at the regular line, there were many people staying at the line, I asked if she could help me check out using her cashier machine where she was standing and checking for customers at self checkout line (I am 8 months pregnant), she was being rude and mean to me, she said "NO, you must go back to the regular check out line to wait again in order to check out with your WIC card, self checkout doesn't take it!!" I explained to her that I came about couple weeks ago, exactly same issues happened, the assistant was very helpful, grabbed my WIC card and foods to her cashier machine where she was standing, and she was able to check me out successfully. But assistant Mxxxxx didn't want to help me and yelled at me, kept saying that only regular checkout line can take WIC card not her machine, she lied to me even though I knew the truth. What a bad customer service, this assistant is the worst one I have seen in the store, the rest of them are super nice and helpful. read more

Much good, with a little weird (questionable). So glad that location was renovated by Safeway. Overall the new store is win. The product section is being kept well stocked and presented with items that look good. However, the dairy section, especially the cheese section, has a problem with stock not being rotated. This is a brand new store so I have to wonder what the problem is with training. Case in point. I was looking for some medium cheddar last night. When looking at the Safeway branded cheddar I found several package nearing their expiration date stuffed to the back of the shelf. They They were they only packages available. I solved the problem by switching to a more expensive brand, Tillamook . But thinking about the dates I had a look around and found this same issue for other items in the dairy section. The newer stuff was always always at the front of the shelf. The older stuff was always at the back of the shelf. The exact opposite of what should be done to ensure product is moved well and customers do not get stuck with old items. Until the dairy people can get a handle on proper stocking I suggest you check all dates from that section! Even with the dairy problem I still count the new Safeway a win. I know this Safeway is terribly understaff. But that is no excuse for the cashiers to be rude when they have to bag. Most of the time we will start bagging to speed up the process, but then the cashier will start pushing the groceries towards us as if to say hurry up! Then they'll move on to the next customer, so I'm rushing to get my groceries out of way before it gets mixed up. And they NEVER say thank you for bagging. I suggest Safeway start a program "if you bag, we'll give you 15% off your total!" There is only ONE cashier who has great customer service skills. Her name is, Araceli. She gets 5 stars! read more

I love love love this Safeway. It's super clean, the shelves are stocked and organized and the staff is courteous and helpful. The produce dept. rocks. The deli and bakery could use some improvements and they do need more cashiers at busy times. All in all this store is by far nicer than any of the Safeways in the City. read more

Great remodeled store! Everything looks new & clean. Customer service is "ok", but why are the aisles so darn narrow?! (Just like the other Safeway off Manor & Palmetto) We love shopping at Safeway, but these stores in Pacifica are always crowded, and with narrow aisles it makes for a very awkward and slow shopping experience. We now actually avoid shopping here, and drive further to shop at the Safeway on Gellert, in SSF. read more

Do you love no self check out and long lines that go almost out the door? Do you love only two Safeway checkers working from 4pm till close? Then this is the Safeway for you, seeing the pictures of other reviews looks like the hardly anyone working and long lines have been a problem for over a year so nothing will change. Also almost forgot to mention the countless times the guy behind the seafood counter will break his neck to not look at you until I'm screaming "excuse me". I'm pretty sure he does everything in his power to not do work. The food quality is okay but I'm giving it one star because by the time I got to check out and back to my car my milk had expired. I wish I can give this review ZERO STARS. This review is for the deli part of Safeway. The sandwich makers are seriously lacking in making sandwiches. I was in there (Friday, June 7th, 2019, around 3:45 PM) to pick up a sandwich for dinner. The gentleman who made my sandwich lacked in "cleanliness". He had a dirty apron, for one. I wish I could have asked for another sandwich maker but he was the only one coming towards the sandwich counter. He used the same gloves he was wearing when he was doing God knows what before coming to the counter. He didn't bother to wash his hands and put NEW gloves on. NO BUENO!!! When I asked for pepperoncinis, he put his DIRTY glove into the container instead of using a pair of tongs. Hello, cross contamination! YUCK! When I got home I doctored up my sandwich more and stuck it in the microwave for 3 minutes on high to kill whatever germs that may be lingering on my sandwich. Please DO NOT have him make sandwiches EVER again. He was a tall Caucasian gentleman. read more

Just visited this new store for the very first time. Nothing special about it, just a typical Safeway. On the floor you can see the scars where the linoleum tile was when it was Lucky. The store was nice and clean and the checker I had was nice. On the refrigerators where they keep yogurts and cheeses for example, they should put doors on them. I don't know what Safeway's excuse is for not using doors even in their other stores, but it will help cut energy costs and the store wouldn't be so cold, especially for Pacifica. The dairy refrigerator has doors though which is nice. It's not a very big store but it has most of the common selections. read more

I have tried shopping here a few times, and EVERY TIME, no matter what hour of the day, the lines are just ridiculous. I received a e-gift card which was something you offer through Safeway that a family member sent me. I tried using this e-gift card via the app and was told by multiple employees it must be printed and cannot be added to a physical gift card I have used this printed copy twice and had no issues, however tonight when trying to use this payment method someone by the name of Ricky wearing normal clothes who I could not identify as anyone of status or employment tells me I am not able to use this due to fraud issues in the past. So I cannot add this to a physical card cannot use the app or the printed copy soooo I can't use this gift card at all according To Ricky. This makes no sense and should not be offered as a payment option if there is issues that need to be brought to the store manager apparently. I don't think Ricky knows what he is talking about or who he even is but I am very annoyed and disappointed in this transaction. I feel Discriminated against because Ricky made it seem like I was pursuing fraudulent activities and I do not appreciate this kind of treatment. Someone needs to tell him how to do his job or inform all employment this is not a payment option and not offer this payment option at all. This is ridiculous. read more

The review is for the Catering Dept. I ordered a Fruit Platter on a Friday for a school party the following Tuesday. When I went to pick it up, I was told the staff that was supposed to make the platter was not in and my platter was not made. How can this happened? Don't you have other staff in the Catering Dept.? My weekly Wednesday a.m. shopping excursion to this store is ALWAYS an adventure. Every week I am guaranteed to find expired items on the shelves. If something is on sale - check the "price good thru" date. Sometimes I forget & am charged full price at the checkout. That's when the fun starts. I have to believe that they make getting a refund so difficult because they want you to give up and just walk away from it. Standing in the express checkout (the only one open) with my 25 items is always a good feeling. I try to let people waiting with just a few items go ahead of me but sooner or later you have to get out of the store. A few pleasant, helpful staff. But on the whole - woefully understaffed. Is it really necessary for the vendors (Orowheat, in particular) to stock their sections at 10 a.m on a weekday? Like the aisles aren't narrow enough already. I'll be back next Wednesday because they might just get it right this time ...or they could pull off something so stupid it will force me to write another review. Have fun. read more

This could be honestly one of the cleanest and fastest Safeway that I have been to, the only reason was that I knocked down two starts is because of the customer services that I received tonight. I understand that you maybe tired, I am too having to go grocery shopping after work with a 2 year old that doesn't want to stay in the cart, but they are paying you to be the face of the company or am I wrong. The lady at the counter that had no one behind me was just out of it I guess. She rolled her eyes and completely ignored me. I told her I wanted the milk and juice in a plastic bag, since I get one free for having WIC, and the rest in the bag that i brought. She just stared at me and rolled her eyes! Honestly? I believe her name is Bessie or Betty. I said Have a nice night and she ignored me and continued with the next customer. Next time I'll just leave Bessie alone, if she's doesn't want to help customers that I don't know what you are doing there. read more

This is my favorite Safeway in this area. It is clean, well maintained, and even with lines, the wait isn't super long to get checked out. The cashiers I've dealt with have been efficient, accurate and pleasant. Parking is easy too. Even though we drive a bit further, it's worth the pleasant grocery shopping experience. read more

I loved the store at first, everything was brand new and fresh. The reason I now rate it as a 1 is because they have no customer service skills AT ALL!! It doesn't matter what time you go into the store there is ALWAYS a line. At 6:50 a.m. on Monday there was 1 cashier, everyone else was stocking. I asked for a manager who finally showed up and started checking. Today at 4:00 p.m. the line was out the door. Two weeks ago SAME THING!!!! What is going on? Someone from the Corporate Office needs to come to the store and find out why they can't run the store as smoothly as it should. No one seems happy in the store. read more

However the price scanned at $29.99, well that's not what my price said, I was checked out and the bagger went over to the floral dept, checked price said it's $29.99. However the tag on there was changed to $29.99. I have shopped here several times since Safeway has opened at this location. Each time I have hoped that service has improved. Its a nice store but customer service is terrible. Checkers are rude. This morning I could not get service in either the deli or bakery. It wasn't busy; I had an employee look right at me while I was standing at the bakery register. She just ignored me. Fairmont (Hickey) Safeway is a total embarrassment and disservice to the neighborhood. I have not seen one person working there ever smile at customers. Even in the busiest hours of the day, i.e. from 4 to 6pm, there are only 2 cashier lanes open. My waiting time is consistently longer than the shopping time. There have never been any staff working on the floor. When you look for help to open the battery cabinet or get a hard liquor, well, Good Luck! Once I was told by a cashier to wait at the empty customer service for someone to open the battery cabinet for me. 10 minutes passed, nobody came. Finally, a cashier came with a key and tried a few times, but still couldn't open it. It's ridiculous that Safeway invested in the interior and lighting, but completely ignored what really matters to the neighbors - CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE!
