This store has been going downhill fast since the last year... they removed all of their senior clerks who had served them well during the pandemic years and demoted them and brought in people who didn't even know how to run a register or clerk.... well they've reached a new Low today... the person at the register couldn't call a manager because he didn't know how to..... and they have workers in the aisles warehousing, by which I mean there are huge boxes blocking the aisle and blocking you from buying what's on the shelves, and if you speak English to them they look like they're stupid and don't understand you... you shop here at your own risk... I tried to call Albertsons and talk to them about this and no one there knows how to get a manager either! read more

Awful, unsanitary produce being sold again. A bag of navel oranges with visible white mold on multiple oranges and over 20 flies and gnats crawling all over. YUCK! As no one, again, was working in Produce, I notiifed Customer Service desk. 3 hours later, I returned for another item, only to find this rotten fruit still there and found a mgr. who finally removed it. Trust me I don't mind doing it, just the audacity he had to say it is mind blowing. I've lived in pacfica for 16 years and in these past few months, I have been harassed and assaulted by the dick weed if a manager. The first time, I was walking down the candy section and my girl friend saw a banana and was like "what is this doing here" and this manager started yelling at her getting in her face tryna kick her out. Even after explaining what happened, he kept at it. Also keep in mind, she's a 5'1 minor. Second time, I was there with my best friend and we just came from the dairy (sun valley dairy) with energy drinks. On our way out of Safeway, this guy said "you gotta pay for that". Understandably, I said it was from the dairy and showed him receipt on my chase banking. Then he proceeds to grab my drink, throw it, get into my face, and call me slurs like "faggot" "bitch ass" "pussy" as he tried to fight me. He then starts pressing me and my friend (keep in mind, we are both 16 year olds). He threatened to call the cops and we told him too because there is cameras of us coming in with drinks and cameras of him assaulting us. We tell our parents to come and they confront him, resulting in him lying about things saying we ran out with products and he kindly asked us too. If this happens again, it's on recording and will be pressing charges read more

My wife and I had a 2 day holiday so we thought we would stay in the area and of course pick up some food for our accommodations and we selected the Safeway in Linda Mar. Our 1st trip was on Wednesday where we did the bulk of our shopping. From the outside it looks a little like most safeways. It's in a mall it has a large presence it does not have a gas station but we needed to get groceries and we knew we could count on them to have everything we needed. I can always count on Safeway to have a mobility cart I am a mobility cart I'm a disabled veteran and I use the carts in the very important to me to be independent when I shop. I just wish more safeways had more safeways had more carts available. Happily this 1 had 2 available when I walked in. We completed our shopping quickly because I'm used to moving my way around a store efficiently and getting exactly what we need with the proper list. One of the things that we also accomplished was when we got to the front we figured we needed to get a banana box to haul our stuff around in. I happened to ask a young man named Nico at the front desk if there was anybody in produce that could get me a box because there wasn't anybody in produce when we went through. He immediately told me he would be glad to help me and before I could say oh that isn't really that necessary he came around the counter and ran off the produce and got that box for me and brought it to me while I was in line. I thanked him and when he left I asked the checker who they manager was on duty I wanted to tell them what a nice guy he was for helping me out. It. It turned out he was the manager so I passed him as we left I said you lead by example because you gave me superior customer service. You exceeded my expectations. Thank you. Our checker was also a delight. She greeted us and gave us eye contact smiled and asked how we were doing. She was very pleasant and very focused on getting the order correct.. She did a great job and gave us a friendly send off when we were done. If I remember correctly her name is Kaitlyn. The next day my wife and I returned to get some more groceries and we noticed there was a man talking to a customer and we presumed he was the manager and waited on the side for him to finish his conversation with them.. While he was there there was a woman next to him who noticed we were waiting and came over and asked if she could help us. Her name was Sophia.. It turns out she's a Possibly district manager or at least from corporate and we explained how we were really pleased with the store and how it looked and all the people that worked there were so delightful. Sophia was awesome. We both enjoy KETO. Anyway, I explained to her what I had written above, and told her that the staff was incredible, the store was clean, the aisles were wide and uncluttered. there were no knee knockers, and the indisplays were full. There were very few empties on the shelf, the store was immaculate. We proceeded to check out where we were taking care of by Teresita. SOLID F GRADE! Stopped by this Safeway location on the evening of Sunday, June 20, 2022, at around 8:10 PM. Located in Pacifica's Linda Mar Shopping Center, the store is conveniently located nearby other shops and some eateries with ample parking for patrons. Is this a bad neighbourhood or something? There was a commotion in the shopping center with teenage kids yelling aggressive profanities and screaming, creating an air of violence and uneasy feeling of an unsafe environment. Eventually, the cops came around, but, yuck - is this a common occurrence in this area or town? Although my family will beg to differ, I was pretty quick in finding my few grocery items and checking out. Service was not much better than the atmosphere outside. As the bagger, Caitlin, was packing up my items, I advised her to put my carton of eggs at the bottom of the bag, not atop anything unflat, to ensure no breakage of the contents. She replied that she has "been doing this for nine years" and, after putting the 1.5 dozen carton atop a bottle of Coffee mate creamer, sarcastically asked me, "Satisfied?" EXCUSE ME? HOW would a carton of 18 eggs sitting AT AN UNSTEADY SLOPE on top of a bottle be satisfactory IN ANY WAY?? Seriously, was she testing my intelligence or intentionally striving to act rudely ignorant? Of course, I told her directly, "No, I'm not satisfied" and started to undo her poor attempt at bagging the groceries when she walked away and exclaimed, "I'm out of here!" I ended up re-bagging everything on my own. Does Safeway not invest in their staff to train them how to bag appropriately and conduct themselves politely with customers? It doesn't appear so. The checker was extremely apologetic, but the store's reputation was already severely tarnished by then. I definitely won't return to this Safeway to give them any more of my business - SERVICE IS APPALLINGLY DISTASTEFUL. Caitlin's behaviour stooped to the level of the juvenile delinquents' who caused a raucous outside in the shopping center. Maybe this is the ghetto. read more

I have been a customer of this Safeway for more years i can count. In spite of the over pricing of all their items and groceries, I am still going there. One of the biggest reasons people are turning to other grocery stores such as Grocery Outlet, is the over pricing and rude customer service. Today I had a cashier, (he has a tattooed bald head so cant miss him.. that doesnt matter one bit to me because I know many lovely people with tattoos).. it was just to identify him since I do not know his name. He rudely pushed my cart ahead saying I was the last in line and plopped the closed sign on the belt and put the chain up behind me. He seemed pist at that point already and I had no idea why. There is a nice way to let customers know that they are the last in line. If I had known I wouldve moved to another register no problem. I witnessed him taking his time with the customer in front of me, laughing and joking with him. I thought he was going to be nice to me too, but instead he scowled, did not greet me and started tossing my items angrily. Asked if I needed bags and i said yes two please. He bagged and overstuffed my groceries angrily. Didnt bother to help putting the bags in my cart, and the remaining items not bagged he left on the counter for me. He sarcastically said to me have a nice day without even looking at me. I even said to him before that How's it going to make conversation, and his answer was I have been trying to go home so not good. Like that was my fault?? I'll repeat, just tell me know youre closing up and I will gladly go to another register no problem!! Dont even know for sure that was the real problem because he was sooo nice and friendly to the customer in front of me. He should've closed his register right after that one. He not once looked at me, smiled, or greeted. Just scowled and was so rude. From what I hear the managers are aware of his behavior , as well as his co workers. One co worker said he had a lot of complaints already. That worker was extremely courteous and friendly! I will never go to the rude employee if I ever see him again, and I want others to know about his behavior. I am hoping the managers pay attention to how he treats customers, it was unacceptable. I am positive he has treated other loyal customers the same way and it's a shame he gets away with it. Shame on management! This rude guy needs a definite attitude adjustment, or find another job that doesnt deal with people at all! read more

Grocery stores have to stop allowing dogs in. It's getting ridiculous. I see dogs in this Safeway all the time. The last time I was here, two dogs got into a fight, and then as I was headed out the door, one of the dogs lifted its leg and urinated on the glass door while the owner said, "Bad dog! You know better than that." She just continued walking away. Give me a break! When is Safeway and the rest of the grocery stores going to have the balls and say, "Enough is enough!" We never had this problem in the 90's. What happened??!?? read more

This Safeway is ok. I haven't bought anything from the deli in a while since my last review. I have bought only the basics and experience was ok. Unfortunately I went to Safeway in manor plaza and that will keep me out of all Safeways for quite awhile. I hate wasting food so I prefer a normal amount from Safeway. But I will have to get the huge amount for usually very few dollars more than Safeway's normal portion. Safeway needs to fix some problems. They put yellow sale tags on everything now and most of the time the savings is like half a dollar or less. Which isn't a great sale on a 15$ item. I will give a 4 star just because I am thankful that this is closer to me than the hellish other one. But there are other grocery stores and I will go to those for the time being even if it is 20 minutes farther. read more

Where is the management? Where is the training? I'm finally done with Safeway in Linda Mar. It used to be a friendly, helpful store. I usually try to avoid the checker with the head tattoos because he can be pretty obnoxious. I couldn't today because he was the only one working. He was talking and laughing with the woman ahead of me and the people behind me, and I thought...wow! He has really changed. Maybe his life is happier.Then I realized they were all friends and relatives. When it was my turn at the register his old personality was back. Glaring, talking in monosyllables, and acting very abrupt. When I asked him a question he looked me in the eye, rolled his eyes, and turned his head away. Now that I know he is capable of being courteous but chooses not to I have to assume this is just fine with Safeway. I will be going to the independent market up the highway and pay a bit more. I had been avoiding this Safeway after many locals have complained about a variety of problems- But just needed to grab a couple items... The shopping experience was fine, but things went wrong at the checkout. While serving the person ahead of me, cashier stepped out of his lane and sneezed largely and without covering his face in the lane behind him. Gross. Does no one cover their faces when they sneeze anymore? When it was my turn, he did it again! I kept my distance and spoke to Tygarjas Bigstyck who I believe is the manager. When I asked if he would ask his employee to cover up when sneezing, his reply was "And I might as well ask a bear not to shit in the woods." Wow. I was too surprised to reply, but instead have filed a complaint with the County Health Department and am sharing here. Try the Safeway on top of Hickey Blvd. instead. read more

Hey Neighbors, I rarely post anything on the neighborhood - unless it's positive. But today is different..... ( based on terrible quality of products and service - that I received today!) I just got off work, and went down to my local Safeway at Linda Mare Shopping Center in Pacifica.... To pick up one of their advertise specials; 8 pieces of chicken for $5 (their Friday Special).... Well when I went to the counter- the man said; "that it was too late for that special ( In the Safeway ad there was no time limit on the special it just said "Friday Special") - and that all the chicken was cold anyway!"... He said you should have turkey - Because it doesn't have as many hormones in it as the chicken... I always knew that Safeway was "lame" anyway..... it's just that I never experienced their employees being so honest about it Long story - short; I went to Oceana and got a "free range roast chicken"- for a couple of dollars more.. The people were nice and the service was fast... just say'n.... I'm not wasting my time at Safeway anymore, It truly is the "most Disreputable Store in Pacifica ".... This is my neighborhood store. I've been shopping here for the last 20 years and on DEC 5Th around 11pm it was the first time I've been followed all over the store from the manager at the linda mar Safeway her name is Mary (she's new manager) I felt very uncomfortable i don't think I will ever shop at this store again and when I asked her about her name she said it was latica (she was laying) so the day after in the 6th I went there one more time to give the store another chance and I was also followed again by here!!! Is that her job to follow customer's around !!! Store management should take some action!!! I was told she always does this when she suspects a shoplifters! Isn't the Safeway policy not to follow shoplifters?! And I'm a customer!!!!! While enjoying the great beach weather this past week, my daughter and I were in this store My daughter went to get frozen yogurt while I shopped for other items. I noticed a strange man lurking near her while she shopped. When another woman saw this man lurking at my daughter, this odd man became embarrassed and quickly looked away. Since my daughter attends Terra Nova, she mentioned there are very rude and odd employees at this store. One our way out, I asked a store employee who this employee is and they told me his name is dave. There's something not right with their refrigerator because milk can't just go bad that fast and don't ask the deli workers to to slice the lunch meat because they just take forever to do it. This is the Men's room at Safeway. Are you kidding me? With all the money Safeway brings in, they can't fix the door locks or paint over the graffiti. The lines here are all the way down the aisle, that's a whole different review. Worst store I've ever been in. The Safeway on Gellert in Daly City, is amazing. Clean, no lines, every check stand open. It's obviously the horrible Managment here that makes this one so bad. The staff at this store lack any decorum of professionalism and need to be trained on what customer service entails and what it means to take pride in your work. I've lived in Pacifica for 15 years now and I've always enjoyed our Linda Mar Safeway but it's changed ever since Albertsons bought it out some 5 or more years ago. Gradually, the wonderful, capable staff started disappearing until there wasn't one good store employee left. I'm sure management has a part to play in the lack of morale at this store but it's no longer where I mainly go to shop for groceries anymore, also because they will gouge you if you don't know your prices. If you value your good mood, sense of community, and your pocketbook, you'll avoid shopping at this Safeway. read more

There isn't much grocery stores in the area before. And this was it unless someone wanted to pay twice as much for their foods across the street. Since the area got Grocery Outlet it has improved much more, but is on the other side of the highway which is difficult getting in and out. read more

I'm only giving two stars to be nice. This is about the Starbucks kiosk inside. There was only one person in front of me who order a single drink. The lady working was an older lady, so I was being patient. However, after waiting 7 minutes for her to make his drink then started doing other things knowing I was standing there waiting, she proceeded to take her time. So I walked out and took my business to the bigger Starbucks that's just across the parking lot. As a past barista myself, when customers are waiting, you need to move with a purpose. I saw zero effort. So if you're wanting a coffee, don't waste your time going here. Just go into the other Starbucks. read more

What pisses me off is the Linda Mar Safeway is so much more the ideal Safeway than the sorry place in the manor location. Store sushi from Linda Mar Safeway = Win. Store sushi from Manor Safeway = Wondering if an emergency room visit is in your future.. I 'm sure it's easier for this location to be great when you have more area to work with. But I am also sure the manager does a better job with the people who work here than the other location's manager does with their crew. Keep up the good work guys! read more
