Cake department crushed superbowl cakes
Rebekah T.

Not all Safeways are created equal, especially if you live in San Francisco. We choose to shop in Westlake or Pacifica to find an increased selection of products, whether it be better produce or meat. We also come here often when we have a beach day. It's easy to get all our beach picnic supplies here like beverages, snacks, sandwiches and sushi. The sushi department, located in the deli section - will often make simple special rolls for us. My BF's daughter is kinda picky about her sushi rolls and they will make her special combo that she loves. The bakery department makes pretty little cakes, we picked one up for my daughter's 2nd birthday which was a sparkly little narwal. Super cute and wasn't even a special order.

king crab, bad fishy smell and dried out
T M.

.46 lbs of cooked and frozen king crab. We've bought some here before and no issues. This time even before I unwrapped the crab, I could smell fishiness. It was bad. If you look closely or zoom into the picture you could see that there was hardly any meat and appeared dry and discolored. Despite this, I placed on a sheet with butter to reheat in the oven. Hoping it'd miraculously change. It didn't. Ended up tossing this out. Safeway should be more conscientious with their "fresh" seafood.

#Starbuch #Coronavirus #Cup from the in-store stand left by a customer.
Chris R.

I generally like, though not impressed with, the Pacifica Safeway located at 12 Manor Plaza. But in this Coronavirus era Safeway on the whole has lagged implementation of measures and processes for customer protection. Used Starbucks cups left randomly about the store is why the inconsiderate sub-population among the coffee drinking crowd do not deserve convenient coffee. No human wants to touch your #Starbucks #Coronavirus #Cups because you did not immediately exit the store, and were too lazy to properly dispose of your used cup. I recommend all Starbucks located in all Safeway locations, and any coffee stand or immediate consumption item counter in all supermarkets, be closed for the duration of the COVID-19 era in order to protect the health of the other customers and store employees. Safeway, parent company Albertsons, and Starbucks, this is your opportunity for improvement ahead for the local San Mateo County of Health department ordering you to shut done the in-store locations. The same goes for any other company reading this review who still makes ans easy situation for their customers to leave their infectious trash randomly around your store.

It's like lining up at the DMV!!! This system sucks!
Gary L.

I get why they changed the line system during Covid, but the state and country has lifted the restrictions! It's time to go back to the old way to line up at the cashiers! This DMV style line up where you have to wait in a separate line for the next available checker is dumb and it makes that line super long and blocks people from getting to the other aisles! Time to change back!

I love the grocery section, but they have the most unhelpful, unpleasant florists I've ever encountered

You can even special order your sushi right then and there and the sushi chef will make it for you, how often do you see that in a small grocery store?

There are some organic options, which is nice. They carry Fairlife milk and plain kefir. LIKE There's a small deli case with lots of freshly made goodies like salads, hummus and dolmas. Really nice when you don't know what to have for dinner. The meat counter looks good, although I haven't yet bought anything from it. Plenty of parking. Fast checkout. MEH Their Apple Pay only takes Visa for some reason. Not a big deal, but I'd prefer to use Mastercard.

Sun valley fine foods is the best of both worlds. There's a lot of secret bargains, but if you live in Pacifica and want fresh fruit or fresh cut meats or freshly barbecued tri-tip or just a homemade cooked chicken to impress the people from the city then this is where you should go. Please don't buy out the Mexican half liter sodas cuz I live on those. No I'm not compensated for any of this, but I secretly suspect they make a fresh pot of coffee for me when I walk in in the morning. They really don't need to do that, but it means a lot.

Excellent wine recommended by Courtney and Katie, wish I had purchased more bottles !!read more

This is not a wine shop it's a local hole selling bottles of wine. My husband's and I stopped here…read moreyesterday for a glass of wine before dinner. I was underwhelmed by their "by the glass" menu and settled on an Orange wine and my husband got a Sauvignon Blanc. We sat in the green velvet couches that felt like sitting in someone's basement. My husband took one sip of his wine and it was terrible, I took a sip and it smelled like it was turning. He went back to get a different glass and the owner reluctantly poured him a Rose. We sat and had two glasses each, about $60. When I went to pay, the owner said that she wanted to be "transparent" and was still charging me for half of the awful first glass we took back. I told her I tasted it and it was terrible. She was extremely rude about it. If you were being "transparent" you would have told me that before pouring another glass. So she charged me $6-7 when I would have tipped $10-12 on the tab and I'll never go back there again. That's just someone that doesn't know how to run a business. Don't go here, like the other reviews stated, it's really just for locals. I overheard the owner saying to someone she got a case of some wine cheap because the labels were misprinted. So they are running a cheap wine shop. If you go here, make sure you taste anything before you buy or you will be charged even if the wine has turned. Although, I wanted to taste the reisling and the owner told me the bottle wasn't opened yet and it was super sweet, she wouldn't let me taste it. Like she was assuming I wouldnt like it. This isn't a wine shop, more like a liquor store.
