i don't think anyone actually checks expiration dates or for mold at this location. i've gotten grocery pick up orders home numerous times with expired items and/or moldy produce. Some of the items i've even seen while shopping in the store myself. Theres also NEVER any bags to put the meat in & it leaks everywhere read more

This store is horrible. The prices are too high, there's never enough check out lanes open, and recently I had to go there to get a few items 10 minutes before they were ready to close. I had no choice but to use the self checkout and I was rushing because they were now reaching closing time. As a result of rushing, I absentmindedly forgot to get my change back and it was left behind for anyone to take (including their staff) I went back to speak to the night manager and she promised I would get a call back and someone would be looking through video footage. This never happened. I have been back to Safeway several times since then and have only been treated with hostility or suspicious behavior on their behalf. Don't give them your business. Drive to Walmart or King Soopers, and save money. You shouldn't have to risk being robbed by the employees ( including any supervisor or managers) of the Safeway in Fort Lupton. read more

This place is awful. No service whatsoever. The nighttime manager is nice but gives no care at all. Deli closes down before anyone gets off work. Seriously, last week I went there and the self checkout which is the only thing open, the attendant took my $10 cash back and then told me that it would come out of his pocket. We had a truly kind young lady help my mother at the new self-checkout. And we had found everything we needed. There was however the problem of getting locked into the store. As I walked with my older mother toward the door we had entered, a young man in black walked away from the door, past us and into an office. As we reached the door He then announced over the intercom, that the East doors closest to Starbucks were now locked for the evening. When we turned around to walk back to the other side of the store and make our way across the parking lot, the full length of the store again, the same young man exited the office and watched us slowly making the trek. It seems like common sense and common courtesy to have A LARGE SIGN that tells people, especially disable or handicapped, that any door will be closing or locked BEFORE THEY ENTER IT. And, young man, if you are a manager, you need to be comfortable talking to customers, even when it is going to be uncomfortable. It will make people feel better if you try, instead of just ignoring them and then watching them struggle to deal with a situation you just created. read more

If could go negative stars i would. Went the store 3/1/2020 around 3pm to pick up a few items for the weekend. Get to the store and the line of customers with carts full of groceries is out the door. The store only had one checker and half the self check out registers were broken. This is not acceptable, that big company like Safeway can't hire enough people to man a store in a small town like Fort Lupton. Doesn't seem the the company cares other wise this would have never happened. I hope i am not the only one who writes a bad review tonight. I hope another store is looking to move in to this small town and show Safeway how a store is run. read more

Worst Safeway I've ever been to. All of the cashiers were taking their sweet time to check people out. They had four lanes that could've been in use but didn't have any cashiers at them. The manager and assistant manager we sitting in an office on their phones without any regard for how busy the lanes were. On Thanksgiving Eve... one of the busiest days for grocery stores. Generally, the store is alright. Prices are slightly higher than other places, but that's just how it goes sometimes. I notice that they are understaffed and, given the introduction of the self-checkouts, they have less of an incentive to staff cashiers. Having said that, It would be nice if the person supervising the self-checkouts was present in case a customer needs service. There was a gentleman waiting for ten minutes for service. I waited for about five minutes for the attendant to return. Apparently, they are so understaffed that they need the person overseeing the self-checkout to help stock shelves. Staff more if you want those results instead of cutting corners. It hurts your customer service and hurts your image rating. Most people do not go to this Safeway to make big purchases. Rather, they are there to get a few products because it is local to the Fort Lupton area. I would have rated this store a 4/5 but, given recent events and sub-par staffing choices, I am going to give this store an "A-OK" rating. The company just invested money for a remodeling in various parts of the store, but I guarantee you that nobody is going to care about the remodeling if staffing, employee morale, and overall customer service does not improve... Please, do not give me or the community another reason to rate this store lower than your competitors. read more
