First off, I want to mention Dennis, Andrew, Toni, Maria and the rest of the awesome deli department. They're always so wonderful and helpful and are part of the reason we come back to this specific store. We love them! However, today, while I was getting meat and cheese for my mom, my sister went to grab a couple of things from the Starbucks. She texted me that a specific barista Emily, was taking orders. Emily is only nice when she feels like it. Not only was she more interested in what was going on with her co-worker's cell phone, but she got my very simple drink order wrong. It tastes awful. Additionally, we ordered my mom a pumpkin and pepita loaf which, once heated by request, Emily decided it was a great idea to throw it onto the counter at my sister and say, "Here." And walk away. When I heard she was the one on warming, I was horrified seeing as Emily has at least six inch nails which I'm sure have a good amount of lovely bacteria growing under them. I am a barista at a corporate Starbucks and if any of this happened there, we would be written up. It's disgusting that customers are treated like this and the kiosk isn't following health department laws. I hope this is rectified and Emily takes a chill pill or whatever she needs to get over herself. read more

I stopped by this Safeway on Saturday, Dec. 10 my way home to pick up somethingto eat for later. I had been to this location a couple times and remembered it was a nice size Safeway and also had a nice assortment of baked treats and desserts. I decided on the fried chicken special for $15. You could choose from fried or rotisserie chicken. Along with 6pk coke, 4pc Hawaiian King rolls, 12oz side of your choice from list display. I chose the broccoli and cheese. Not bad I thought for the meal. I get home and don't eat it right away, but when I finally do I am very disappointed. The fried chicken, all dark pieces that I chose were overcooked, tough and dry...very disappointing. Mind you, I stopped by around noon, but didn't eat until probably about 3:00p. Still, it should of been fine, not tough. The deli had a good selection of food and was surprised they even had cooked Chinese food. I don't know, maybe it's just this time that I went. The woman behind the counter was very nice and helpful. I also stopped by the bakery dept. and picked up some Christmas shortbread cookies and a raspberry ring cake which were great! I didn't bother calling it in and certainly didn't want to drive all the way back to the store. Might wanna try keeping an eye on the fried chicken and not allow to overcook. It looked good! Just not what I expected. read more

What can I say...it's Safeway...they are close to my house, so I'm there more than I want to be... Always long slow lines..prices...well $10 for a roasted chicken, you figure it out. Yet still I go like a fish caught in a fishbowl year after year. Yes I do go to other better places to shop...but it's that convenience factor if you know what I mean. Argh!!! FLOWERS FLOWERS FLOWERS We were looking for an alternative to the high flower shop prices for a bridal shower event for my daughter. The Floral Manager, Christina is a hidden treasure. We ordered 3 table arrangement, picking out the flowers and colors in advance. They were beautifully done, lovely greenery and floral touches complimenting the color scheme of the shower. We were also able to get 2 dozen balloons in just the colors we wanted. Everything was ready for us to pick up on a Sunday morning at the time promised, with help out to the car. Thank you Christina...you will be seeing us often...and hope that the store management appreciates your attention to detail, and customer satisfaction read more

I've always had pleasant and positive experiences at this Safeway. Every employee that I walk by always greets me and says hi. The employees seem very helpful and will go out of their way to find the exact item that I need. Lines aren't super long compared to other Safeway stores I've been to. Produce is fresh, always a plus. This is a big, spacious store with its own gas station in the parking lot. I've read the other reviews, positive and negative. Perhaps it's time of day when people go to this store? I tend to go during the weekday, anywhere between 9-5. It's always been a good experience. I do like to go to different grocery stores so this isn't the only store I go to. But comparing the other local grocery stores around, this one is certainly in my top 5, considering there's a lot of grocery stores in this area. This is the much better Safeway to go to in Campbell. read more

A fairly standard Safeway with an interesting parking lot, but I have always had an easy time with finding parking. I have not ever had an issue of not being able to get what I needed. The store always seems to be well stocked for my shopping experience. Their standards during the COVID pandemic are going well it seems. I always see someone wiping down baskets and carts. I have seen at some locations that they will have a team member stand out front or by the door to monitor the amount of people coming in. I have not noticed it at this location, but I may be missing it. The staff has always been great with their customer service and I'm glad I don't have to struggle through the stiff small talk that usually happens with grocery shopping. I will admit that I've been leaning towards their self check out more often than not. This would be the only area I don't see get consistently wiped down after each customer uses a register. This is the reason I'm reviewing at 4-stars: I'd like to see some consistency with their cleaning standards. I do understand if customers are too impatient to let staff wipe things down, which is a shame on their part. Thank you to the team at Safeway! You are all so essential and so appreciated! read more

This review is for, Andy, the Manager I spoke to late October-early November. I had a "problem" with the deli's clerk and Andy listened and appreciated that I shared my experience directly with him and he did his very best to resolved the issue. Above and beyond. I hope for positive change in the department. I love Safeway and all that they represent in customer service. Andy is this store's shining star. I was shopping at Safeway Hamilton Ave Campbell and went up to the customer service with a simple question on the digital app and a price. There were two women directly in front of me opening a box. I stood there and for a few minutes and no one said anything to me. One of the ladies (Melissa) went to walk away and I asked if she worked there. Her response was " I have already called someone to come help you" and then proceeded to walk away. I have to say I was a little surprised! Not once did she look at me and say "someone will be with your shortly" or "I'll be right with you" The Asst Mgr Francesco came and answered my simple question. I told Francisco about the rude employee Melissa and he said that was not right and will speak to her. I hope that in the future that this rude behavior doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Sometimes when I want to experiment with cooking something new, I check on safeway website if they have the ingredients but its always tough to find new ingredients in the store because I usually have no idea in what category they might fall. Hence, recently when I wanted to make thai curry, I did not know that I should look for Thai curry paste and Coconut milk in kosher section, but checking these things online and then going to the store really eliminates the time to go and find and get lost in aisles. I wish they had a better way to list the products but other than that, I like the fresh produce in this store. read more

The store itself is fine, but their Drive up and Go service was something worth discussing. Right before Campbell was put under shelter mode for the Covid-19 outbreak, we ordered groceries online (social distancing as recommended by all health experts.) It was expected to be ready for pick up 2 days later. The morning it was supposed to be ready (the Tuesday after the sheltering started) we got a call that all Drive Up and Go orders had been canceled due to "low stock". The husband and I started looking for other options but options were incredibly thin. As a last resort we ended up going to this Safeway just to see if there was anything we could use. The shelves were more or less stocked... picked over for sure but we got everything we originally ordered online. It is unacceptable that somebody mandated the cancellation of all Drive up and Go orders, and lying to customers about their inventory. It goes against the public health guidelines in place to minimize contact with groups of people. Additionally it creates more panic in the midst of an already high-panicked situation since people cannot get supplies. If staffing was an issue, fine. Tell people that you're understaffed and let customers know that if they're able to get to the store, their supplies are available for purchase in person. Don't lie and say you have no inventory! Given the situation it's incredibly irresponsible. read more

I have shopped here for over 10 years, but once they stared using my Phone number and sending me deals via the web/ app I find the store a huge disappointment. The coupons work 50% of the time, the clerks are frustrated and try and to act sympathetic but have no way to help without calling the manager. I prefer to shop at stores without the phone number/ coupon deal promos. Why do we as consumers have to put up with this invasion into our privacy and life styles from Grocery stores? This is by far the best Safeway store in the Campbell area. Store is very neat, and employees are all friendly and helpful as well. Really wish all Safeways were like this store, but its usually more like a hit or miss with different stores. But at least this store is on my go to list when I need something. Very well stocked as well.), as they have everything I need all the time and has a good vibe when you enter. Plenty of parking as well and has a gas station also. This is one of my favorite Safeway! They have a Safeway Gas Station that you can use your Safeway rewards. Conveniently next to the gas station are cases of water so easy loading it into my car. They're super nice and willing to help you load it too. The inside of Safeway is huge with a large produce section, wine, bread, and other food products in the middle. Also, a Starbucks inside and next to that is a restroom. I'm not quite sure on quality of Starbucks coffee because I've only order hot tea which came super fast. I had always wondered what this would be like, given that had to be better than the other Safeway were like..mostly, with customer service. So, I drove from Winchester near SanTomas Expy, going to two other Safeways, so as to find a certain edition of National Geographic magazine. No luck at the two other stores. I took a drive to the newer Safeway on Hamilton Avenue in Campbell. I liked the whole store, that it had a vast variety of products for sale. And, after looking in all the right places, there was that magazine. I had to go the self check out because the young guy up front said that he would me at self-check out. Well, judging by the look on his face, when I was walking by the front looking to buy something, the look on his face..he was not happy being there. I told him at the self service checkout, how much I liked the store. That time, the guy just looked at like he did not care what I told him. And, I got no thank you from him, either. I left there, saying to myself? Why does that very nice Safeway, have an employee working there, who shows his bad attitude to customers who come to shop there? read more

Safeway Bakery review. The cakes here taste great and are a good value. The cake decoration here was terrible in my experience. Customer service with the whole cake experience was very hit-or-miss. We ordered a full sheet cake ($60, plus $10 for second filling) for 7pm Friday evening pickup. We arrived to pick it up, but there was nobody working in the bakery section. (A handwritten note taped to the monitor said to go to Customer Service for cake pickup.) We headed over to Customer Service and waited. Eventually a grumpy lady told us that we're supposed to go to the bakery for cake pickup. (We informed her that the note there had directed us here.) Irritated, she called over the PA system for someone to go man the bakery, and told us to go back there. Horrible customer service so far. An employee who was clearly unfamiliar with the bakery section arrived, gloved up, and started looking for our cake. He found it and started fumbling around to fold a box and lid... a nice enough employee, but obviously out of his element. More shaky customer service. To our relief, a manager happened to walk by and see him struggling. He helped the employee with the box and asked if we would like to see the cake before taping the lid on. The decoration was really messy, including very sloppy lettering. My wife and I were very disappointed, but with the party scheduled for the next day, there weren't many good options. We asked the manager what he thought of the decoration, and he agreed that it was poorly done. We explained that we did still need the cake and asked if he could discount it for the bad decoration. He asked us what we thought would be a fair price, and he accepted our proposal of $45. He printed up the price sticker and loaded the cake onto our cart, and we were on our way to checkout. Stellar customer service from his end. Cake: 4 stars Decoration: 1.5 stars Value: 4 stars Service: too much variance to score Overall: 3 stars For any future Safeway cakes, I'll be ordering them without decoration. read more

Safeway is consistently overpriced compared to just about every other grocery store. But this one also just sucks. Last time I went on a Sunday afternoon for 2 items and the shortest lines were 6 people deep. The self checkout line had about 20 people in it. I ended up waiting in line over 15 minutes. This time I ordered grocery delivery through Instacart specifically to get a rotisserie chicken for dinner, and of course they were completely out at only 5:15. read more

If you would've asked me to review this place 2 years ago, I would've said..... "uhhhh, it's a grocery store, numb nuts. What for?!?" Well, fast forward 2 years........ "uhhhh, it's a grocery, numb nuts. But, what the hell, SURE!!" Actually, this review is more for the bakery. But, in terms of the actual grocery store part, it's one of the nicest I've been to. The store always seems to be immaculately clean. They have a Starbucks inside, a deli which even serves decent Chinese food (decent, not authentic), and a bakery that makes delicious treats............BUT.......... Something seems to have changed over the last 2 years. We have ordered numerous cakes over the last few years. Our favorite is the tres leches cake....... when done right. And, I'm not just talking about the cake itself. Some examples of the multiple hiccups the last few times we have ordered: 1) Two times the cake wasn't available at the said time. When you have parties of 50+ guests waiting to cut the cake, that's not good. By the time we got the cake and got it to the park, half the people left. Which means, we were stuck with most of the full-sheet cake we ordered. 2) We drew a simple illustration and wrote down on their order sheet of what was supposed to be on the cake. They failed at the orientation of the writing and messed up the colors. We told them to correct it and they got it wrong again. Not only that, they made it worse by putting red flecks on a yellow cake. By that time, we were so late, we just forget it. 3) One of our cakes was shown to us and it looked good. When transferring it to the box behind the counter, they must've hit something. But, instead of fixing it, they put it in the box anyway and handed it to us. If you're thinking it was messed up during transport, think again. There was NO frosting on the box, meaning it was done before putting it in the box. 4) Several times, the cake itself was wrong. One time, butter cream was used instead of whip cream. Another time, white cake was used instead of tres leches. And another time, the "leches" part was extremely minimal. We've still came back even after a few issues, because the tres leches cake is not only very good, but the price is phenomenal for only about $50 for a full-sheet cake. However, with all these issues the last few times, I am going to have to seriously consider going to another place like Sweet Passions or La Patisserie in where the cakes are better, but cost more. read more

review for fueling only. price is good. but the fuel ambassadors? uh, not so much. went for the first time and expected a long line (i'd been warned by others that it's worse than costco lines). i pulled in from the street and slowed down while trying to figure out where to go... then i see the vest guy pointing across the way. i look and see the "waiting" line. oh, ok, no problem. but he starts pointing at me laughing, like i'm an idiot to not know, or like i would be dumb to think there isn't a huge line? what a jerk!!! i watched him laugh similarly and shake his head at other people, who also clearly were new to the location. rude and unnecessary. he would also periodically stop to get pissy with someone about not being an inch from the bumper of the car in front of them. the other pump attendants spend their time chatting up customers, holding up the line. good prices, but i'm not dealing with them unless i have a big reward. not worth just a few cents to put up their nonsense read more

Safeway store and gas. Very good prices for the gas, if you spend a lot of money for groceries, like I do, you can get up to $1.00 off per gallon of gas up to 25 gallons max. I always get this deal and take advantage of it for my gas guzzling sports car and SUV. Be careful when it gets packed. The prices are so good, they have long lines and sometimes people cut people off in the gas lines and I have witness hilarious confrontations between drivers who get upset with getting cut of and sometimes the Safeway employee directing traffic gets in the middle. Where is my mobile video camera when this happens. :) I do shopping at Safeway too because I have their club card and I spend so much money here a month, I get thrown an unbelievable amount of freebies, and incredible Just for ME coupons.
