New Mexican market in da hood. Just opened 3 days ago. I have been anticipating the opening for over two years now it's so great to see them opened at last. It's located where the old RadioShack used to be next to the 7-Eleven on Penn Avenue in Winchester. The inside was filled with smiling happy employee faces. They have a pretty good selection of vegetables at a decent price, they also have a big meat section and even have fresh shrimp. I picked me up some prepared uncooked Pastore, and steak fajita meat as well as a container of Verde salsa, and Verde Crema. Oh yah and a big bottle of Jarritos soda C:

    Short ribs
    Fausto Z.

I can't comment on the customer service or other foods they offer but just want to provide a review of their short ribs from their meat department. I think the picture speaks for itself. Don't buy from here. It's a rip off. (See pic)

This place has been a San Jose staple for years and has been my go-to main supermarket for as long as I can remember. The selection covers everything you could possibly need, from international products to everyday household essentials all under one roof, the kind of variety that makes any other grocery store feel incomplete. What keeps me coming back just as much as the products is the staff. Many of them have been there for years, always friendly, always consistent, always making you feel genuinely welcomed. That kind of familiarity and warmth is something you just cannot put a price on. You come in for groceries and leave feeling like you just visited old friends. This Food Bazaar is a true San Jose international community treasure and deserves every bit of loyalty it has earned over the years. Highly recommend making it your regular stop, you won't regret it

They have amazing selection of spices, meats, breads, produce and more. The shelves are neatly organized. I love the fresh pita bread and lavash that they sell. I found my favorite brand of grape leaves. I also found the pomegranate syrup I needed and the orange blossom water for my Basbousa. They had a nice selection of fillo dough. My favorite brand is the Apollo fillo dough. I got a few boxes of that for my Armenian Paklava. And I couldn't leave without getting some fresh bread. I talked with Eddie, the owner, for a bit. He's so kind and if there's something you can't find, he'll help you get it. It's always a pleasure shopping here. They have the best international food items and excellent customer service. I highly recommend checking it out.

They have a super cute little farm stand selling produce, jams, syrups, and a few knickknacks. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Cosentino's also offers classes and events among the fruit trees and flower gardens. I went for a beginner's watercolor class on a warm spring afternoon. Shaded by fruit trees, about 20 of us sat at a long table decorated with fresh-cut ranunculus flowers and learned to paint tulips (very badly in my case!) from a local artist. It was a really sweet way to spend a couple of hours and remember back when orchards were the life blood of the Santa Clara Valley. The farm features heirloom fruit varieties and picks them ripe, so I'll definitely go back in the summer for stone fruits and berries. It was a little early in the season for a good selection when I went.

It closed after a number of years and was very much missed by the community. The current family farm is set up in the farm stand style in the middle of a neighborhood. Support your local community and do your shopping here for fruits and vegetables grown in the premises available seasonally.

The kids and adults all learned so much about tortoises, and the whole experience was incredibly informative, hands-on, and just so cool. How often do you get to get up close and personal with giant tortoises like that?! The owners were so knowledgeable and kind to open up their home and space to all of us. You can tell how much they care about their animals and sharing what they know with kids. Such a fun and unique experience, and we can't wait to come back again with my youngest for his field trip!

Unfortunately, the experience quickly changed due to the rude behavior from the owners. During our visit, the owner yelled at the children - YELLED. This video is just a small example of what happened. There were multiple instances where both the man and his wife raised their voices not only at the kids, but also at the parents. While the children still managed to have fun, the overall environment felt stressful and uncomfortable for many of us. We understand that managing large groups of young kids can be challenging, but the way the situation was handled made what should have been a positive field trip feel uneasy and disappointing.

I'm particularly interested in finding cheaper produce, and Arteaga's was first on my list. The main thing I wanted was strawberries. They had quite a few pre-packed containers from a brand I didn't recognize, but some of the strawberries in the first box I examined were moldy. Same thing in the second box. And the third. Finally, I pulled out a box of Driscoll's that were mold-free. The price on the shelf was two dollars more than Safeway, and when I checked out they overcharged me a dollar, which I didn't notice until I got home. Oh well. Got a cucumber that was roughly the same price as Safeway's. Wanted cherry tomatoes, but couldn't find any. Got a ripe avocado for the excellent price of .79 cents. Arteaga's sells much more than produce. They have a large meat counter and plenty of dry goods. The store was a bit crowded, but there was no wait when I checked out. They have a to-go counter that serves tacos, burritos, nachos, etc. I didn't have time to try it, but I've heard it's very good.

Recently we came back…read moretwice, once on Sunday as I forgot that the paella was a Friday thing, so the staff told me that they usually have paella and clam chowder freshly cooked on Friday. They happened to have a small tub of Friday clam chowder left for sale, for a whopping $16! That price dropped my rating to a 4 star. Service is still 5, but man, the value proposition isn't as high as before. The clam chowder tasted good, creamy and all, but $16 for that is really hard to swallow. The store itself is clean and sells a variety of meat products and imported goods such as from Italy. We came again on Friday evening, at 5pm exact and saw the paella pan laid outside with some amount of paella piled up. The pan felt cold and we were confused if they haven't started cooking or those were the left over. So we went inside to ask and they said the paella was available starting at 5pm, so what's on the pan was cooked. We bought 1 portion, which feeds 2-3 and it came in two 16 oz tubs. For $35, it fed my husband and myself just right. The smoky flavor was on the rice with meat and lots of clams and mussels (but not those fatty mussels that you saw in the Belgium style dish). $35 for dinner of two is not as bad value as the $16 bowl of chowder. So overall, 3.5-4 stars for food and value, 5 stars for service and friendliness.
