This was our local grocery store, we had been going to this location for over 5 years, recently there has been some uncomfortable exchanges with an employee working self check out, I believe her name is Jenna. I personally feel like she doesn't want to help when needed, tasks that are absolutely in her job description/control, she feels the need to ignore and deflect. She was rude and accusatory. Although we love the convenience of Safeway being in walking distance of our residence we often opt to go elsewhere. read more

Shout out to Travis and his manager (wish I could remember his name) on 02/02/2026 around 10pm for helping me make an exchange of ice cream sandwiches. It sounds silly to write a review about, but I have been having a tough time lately; it meant a lot that they showed human kindness and cut me a break. I had purchased these ice cream sandwiches yesterday at the Safeway in Saratoga and they were completely stale. They were so rock hard that my poor 7 year old god daughter broke a tooth on one. The manager at Sunnyvale Saratoga Safeway decided that wasn't worth a refund, or even exchange for a different batch of the same ice cream or something similarly priced. These ice cream sandwiches my god kids love were a total of $5.99. It was obvious he didn't care and walked away while I was trying to explain the situation. These stars are not for him. read more

Do not go here for flowers. I came in on Valentine's Day and was extremely disappointed with the service. The florist was rude and refused to remake my bouquet, even though I paid a generous amount for it. She seemed more focused on having a conversation in Russian or Ukrainian with another customer than taking the time to properly arrange my flowers. The bouquet looked rushed and poorly put together, especially considering the price. I've visited many Safeway locations, and this was by far the worst floral experience I've had. Everyone else in the store was helpful and professional -- unfortunately, that was not the case with the florist. I will not be returning for flowers. read more

I've been visiting this store for a long long time and they usually have a much better selection of what I need than ANY other store in the area. I agree with many of the good and bad reviews, but the bad has been outweighed by finding what I need and tbh my customer service experience has been mostly good. The gas is also good. The reason I'm giving this a 2 star review is because on 2 occasions now I have felt very unclean at this store. One weekday evening I ended up with some kind of stringy slime on my flip flops...I also used the bathroom on that trip but could not lock the door and an individual came in right in front of me and starting using the toilet without even caring I was there. This evening (Sunday) I just kept finding an awful smell over and over again in different places. I have no idea what was going on, but guys, if you are selling food I genuinely hope that smell has nothing to do with it. read more

When one sees a large number of bad reviews 2.8 average with 279 reviews) it shows a management or owner issue. I had maybe 6 items and of course there is only 2 check stands open, the two in front of me had lots of items both already loaded out of the cart. This happens, not a huge deal. A third cashier opens and in my experience the checker sees who is next and calls them over, not this lazy checker. She just shouts "next in line" and the two people behind me run over to her check stand. 3 people in that other line went through before I was able to get rung up. Safeway is a crappy monopoly, where little options exist. Customer service sucks, checker are barely trained and most of all their discounts are a scam. You have to take a pic of the sales price to add it first. When you are rung up it only shows at the very end and in the total discount at the end. It's a total scam to confuse the customer. read more

I had somewhat forgotten how awful they are because I almost always use self service checkout (God forbid you need someone's help there), but this week I twice went through a cashier and man do I regret that. Right now in the deli area near the soup, you can find ready to heat or cook in 30 minutes or less meals, side dishes & entrees like seasoned chicken, stuffed mushrooms with cheese & more. Just left safeway after a quite spendy weekly stop. Got all my ingredients for meal prep and snacks for the week. Get home with my freshly bagged stuff to find my apples absolutely demolished inside the bag. Guys if you're going to bag stuff for us, please don't absolutely obliterate the 4$per lb bag of apples that I was looking forward to. This Safeway has ongoing management issues. Over the last 4 years I've had at least twenty register errors and had to wait for somebody to come to the service counter at least half the time. It kills any value I may have saved and I have resorted gto telling 'em to just refund the whole purchase. There's a reason they have the price guarantee sign up: The state has cited 'em so many times for register violations I suspect they just leave the sign up now. Today, 10:45 AM the clerk didn't catch the 50% off sticker on a container of day-old croissants: $5.99. This is why I always check my receipt before leaving store now. So as not to interrupt her line I asked for Help at service counter. Clerk arrive w/in a minute, good. Doesn't know how to process refund, picks up phone to call for help. 2 minutes. Then says, I'm just going to refund you the 50%. I tell her it should be free now, under $5.00 gets total refund according to price guarantee ($5.99x50%= $3.00) Now calls for manager. I don't have gthis time to waste, I tell her to just refund th whol order. Manager comes up and says fine we don't want you in store anymore, refers to an incident from a year ago when I dropped my basket in the manger's office because they didn't seal the container of shrimp salad at the deli counter, and it opened all over my basket of groceries. On next visit they put it in aplastic bag, which still does nothing to prevent the container from opening because THE TOPS DON'T FIT. 2 months later they still had a problem, picked up a container of enchiladas and it fell open. Pointed it out to manager, I'm trying to help, right? And they still have issues. The buck stops at the top and only an idiot fires a customer for telling 'em what they're doing wrong. Plus I'm taking day-old product off your hands you'll only wind up donating to a food bank. 2 grand a year I spend in there easy, they just all of it to an idiot manager. And this is supposed to be a "High-end" store, with a Boar's Head counter (Yeah, the BIG RECALL brand.... that forced 'em to put people on a "take a number" system and caused ten-minute waits at the deli counter as EVERY SINGLE SLICED DELI ORDER was individually cut.) What a joke. Safeway thinks customers are there to help them make money, period. The only reason I gave 2 stars is that there are at least 3 checkers there who truly understand "customer service". But Safeway's doing their best to eliminate that job and make everybody use self-checkout. Again, "The customers'll do what we tell 'em to and like it". Until they're gone, Safeway. Wanted to buy the 4 for $20 Meat & Seafood special in this weeks ad. Asked the meat counter people,the cashier who got a manager to try and help me. They could not figure out what items were included in the 4/$20 special. Went to Safeway on Winchester Blvd. There I found a case with the clearly marked 4/$20 specials in a specially marked bin and packages with the 4/$20 on each package. Seems they don't want to make it easy for the customer to find specials, I've encountered this before at this store.. The attention and disposition of the workers is terrible. There is no willingness to help. I had to wait more than 20 minutes for keys to get my product. I asked every employee in sight for help without any response. In the end, I had to go to the customer service counter to have someone in charge sent. read more

A manager named Randy would not help me. I asked him how to use the gift card and he called me a scammer. I don't know how to use digital gift cards and he would not help me. He ended up getting in my face in a threatening manner. And raised his voice at me. I asked him nicely do not raise your voice at me and he told me he doesn't have to listen to me. I said I just want help and he said you're harassing my employees you need to leave. Get out of my store and walked away from me. In front of everybody made me feel like a scammer. This is one of three Safeway's close to my home. It is bigger than the others and definitely in a safer neighborhood than the location on Winchester Boulevard as apparently it is consistently being stolen from daily, even hourly, so l often choose this location. What I have consistently fed back to the store to no avail is for them to spend a couple dollars to buy some additional handheld shopping carts. Apparently there are so few in the store that they only have maybe five or so left. This has been going on for months and months. I do not make huge purchases when I grocery shop, mostly just small needs that I may require for the day. But I never have any handheld carts available to carry my groceries in as I shop. When I'm paying between $10.99 to $13.99 for a single pound of ground beef, I'm sure that somewhere in their profit and loss statement, they have enough money to buy some hand held carts to accommodate customers. Pushing around a huge cart for just four or five items is cumbersome and far less expedient than just being able to grab a small hand held cart when entering the store. But no one seems to care, nothing has changed after several (at least six times) suggestions to the "management" available at any given time. They just don't seem to care. Come on Safeway, break off a couple bucks and invest in something that allows me to give you my money quicker and easier. Listen to feedback instead of just dismissing it as you count the money at the end of the day. read more

This Safeway is my go-to spot for groceries after work. The store is almost alwayss clean and stocked, and I never have trouble finding what I need. The bakery department is always stocked and helpful when i need to place a order and the deals are pretty solid you just have to keep an eye on the safeway app which i know can be annoying for some... The app is pretty confusing sometimes so i always have to ask if my coupons went through. Checkout is usually quick, sometimes the manager will open up and cut the lines down which is a plus. Thats what really makes this place stand out though, the staff is friendly and helpful. Matt is especially great I never saw whoever was in charge before but he is always around and checking in with customers. It's just a really nice, easy place to shop, which isn't something you can say about every grocery store. I do wish they had a bigger wine case like other stores but it's my favorite safeway now read more

Warning about Safeway delivery service for 95126 zip code (San Jose) Safeway grocery deliveries to San Jose area (Willow Glen, Campbell) is terrible. Half of our past orders (six Separate deliveries) were missing items that we were still charged for. Occasionally entire food orders are claimed to have been delivered but go missing. (yesterday, Dec.16) Safeway uses DoorDash and the competency of their drivers vary. Despite being a Safeway Fresh Club member, I'm now using Whole Foods for my grocery deliveries. WF is more expensive but more reliable. read more

Had to provide a review for the Pharmacist on duty today - Feb 25, 2023 at 2:00pm. I went to pick up a prescription and it was not in stock. The male pharmacist said he could check another Safeway or other drugstores but it would be a few minutes since there were other customers behind me waiting. He helped the other customers and I decided to go home to start checking around myself, think he would be too busy. About 20 minutes later the pharmacist called me and said he found another Safeway that had it in stock, I really wasn't expecting him to call me since he was the only person on staff on a busy Saturday. What a relief to know that the prescription would be ready within a 20 minutes. Big props to him for going the extra mile to serve a customer. Safeway should be proud to have an employee like him. It seems a little silly to review a Safeway, but this Campbell Safeway is my favorite location because they are reliable, organized, and have a great stock of items. We wanted to purchase a patio umbrella, so we called customer service to see if they had it in stock so that we can prepare arrangements for transporting large items. Erica, the customer service manager, picked up the phone and confirmed! When we got to the store, they were able to get us the last patio umbrella base, and the patio umbrella that we wanted! Thank you Campbell Safeway staff!!! Also this Safeway has all the items we need- different types of flours, cuts of meat (the butcher section is so friendly and they give great advice!), fruits, veggies. And the flow of the floorplan is so seamless. The Drive Up and Go is VERY reliable! Our complicated grocery list is always complete and timely. There are clear parking spots and the calling process to get the drive up groceries is seamless. The overall parking and feel for this Safeway is very spacious and not crazy packed. This makes grocery shopping way more pleasant!! Overall we go out of our way to shop at this Safeway location, even though there are closer ones within 2 miles of where we live. It's worth the 10-15 min drive to go to this Campbell Safeway!! read more

My first time at this location today. It's nice and clean. No flies and no weird smells. Love that they have a nice huge parking lot. Shelves are nicely stocked. Except the dairy section is kind of bare. Around 8:30-9:00pm, there was only one cashier, but self checkout was open. No lines. Will be back if in the area. Let's not be mistaken by my previous posts as they still hold true. I don't like throwing name's out but the evening manager whose name is Monica helped me out alot during the process of confusion with Safeway handling of the hiring process. She took the time from her busy schedule to hear my plight and even pass my information to the hiring manager as I THOUGHT I had the job like the interviewer told me. Safeway is lucky to have her and to take it one step further I would have zero reservations about stealing her from Safeway and bringing her in at Kaiser Permanente if she wanted. As a former Marine and and great worker I didn't lose out, Safeway did by dropping the ball. I take orders well, work great alone or in a team, great at multitasking and teaching others not to mention I could've proven to be an asset to the company. Am I bitter? A tad only because they wasted my time. I haven't been at Kaiser 19 years for nothing and before taxes made over a million. I just wanted to work for my community. Oh yes my local Safeway. I must warn you guys, it's a hit or miss. I have been coming here ever since this joint opened. They used to have it not far from my flat but now it's a bit of a drive. One of my neighbors work here too. The hits are their bakery people seemed to care a lot about upset customers not getting the donuts they want. Major props to them for that. Bagels cost less than Costco at times. Who knew? Normally I would waste a lot more than I would pay for on bagels but this place changed my mind big time. All thanks to the bakery dudettes. Sometimes you can pickup some pretty neat on sale items at this location. Check-out process is super easy. Petrol service at this gas station is good. One of the lowest prices in the county. Drawbacks: Seafoods are very overpriced and don't have the same taste as other stores do. This store is also in search of a general manager because the old one that I knew has quit. That's why you are seeing bad reviews on the customer service here. Warning: If you are getting petrol please use the right pump because they provide diesel too. read more

First off, I want to mention Dennis, Andrew, Toni, Maria and the rest of the awesome deli department. They're always so wonderful and helpful and are part of the reason we come back to this specific store. We love them! However, today, while I was getting meat and cheese for my mom, my sister went to grab a couple of things from the Starbucks. She texted me that a specific barista Emily, was taking orders. Emily is only nice when she feels like it. Not only was she more interested in what was going on with her co-worker's cell phone, but she got my very simple drink order wrong. It tastes awful. Additionally, we ordered my mom a pumpkin and pepita loaf which, once heated by request, Emily decided it was a great idea to throw it onto the counter at my sister and say, "Here." And walk away. When I heard she was the one on warming, I was horrified seeing as Emily has at least six inch nails which I'm sure have a good amount of lovely bacteria growing under them. I am a barista at a corporate Starbucks and if any of this happened there, we would be written up. It's disgusting that customers are treated like this and the kiosk isn't following health department laws. I hope this is rectified and Emily takes a chill pill or whatever she needs to get over herself. read more

I stopped by this Safeway on Saturday, Dec. 10 my way home to pick up somethingto eat for later. I had been to this location a couple times and remembered it was a nice size Safeway and also had a nice assortment of baked treats and desserts. I decided on the fried chicken special for $15. You could choose from fried or rotisserie chicken. Along with 6pk coke, 4pc Hawaiian King rolls, 12oz side of your choice from list display. I chose the broccoli and cheese. Not bad I thought for the meal. I get home and don't eat it right away, but when I finally do I am very disappointed. The fried chicken, all dark pieces that I chose were overcooked, tough and dry...very disappointing. Mind you, I stopped by around noon, but didn't eat until probably about 3:00p. Still, it should of been fine, not tough. The deli had a good selection of food and was surprised they even had cooked Chinese food. I don't know, maybe it's just this time that I went. The woman behind the counter was very nice and helpful. I also stopped by the bakery dept. and picked up some Christmas shortbread cookies and a raspberry ring cake which were great! I didn't bother calling it in and certainly didn't want to drive all the way back to the store. Might wanna try keeping an eye on the fried chicken and not allow to overcook. It looked good! I was shopping at Safeway Hamilton Ave Campbell and went up to the customer service with a simple question on the digital app and a price. There were two women directly in front of me opening a box. I stood there and for a few minutes and no one said anything to me. One of the ladies (Melissa) went to walk away and I asked if she worked there. Her response was " I have already called someone to come help you" and then proceeded to walk away. I have to say I was a little surprised! Not once did she look at me and say "someone will be with your shortly" or "I'll be right with you" The Asst Mgr Francesco came and answered my simple question. I told Francisco about the rude employee Melissa and he said that was not right and will speak to her. I hope that in the future that this rude behavior doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

FLOWERS FLOWERS FLOWERS We were looking for an alternative to the high flower shop prices for a bridal shower event for my daughter. The Floral Manager, Christina is a hidden treasure. We ordered 3 table arrangement, picking out the flowers and colors in advance. They were beautifully done, lovely greenery and floral touches complimenting the color scheme of the shower. We were also able to get 2 dozen balloons in just the colors we wanted. Everything was ready for us to pick up on a Sunday morning at the time promised, with help out to the car.
