This review is specifically for the Bakery Department at the Campbell Safeway. While I visit various Safeway locations, the customer service from the bakery team at this store is consistently the best I've experienced. The entire bakery staff is always helpful and friendly, but I want to give a special shout-out to Sierra for her incredible service yesterday (Wednesday, 3/25). I stopped in to get French bread for my mom (it's her favorite!), and Sierra went above and beyond. Usually, when I ask for bread to be sliced at other stores, it's met with an attitude, but Sierra was so kind. Even though the slicing machine was broken, she didn't hesitate to hand-slice the entire loaf for me herself. It was such a thoughtful gesture that really made my day. I came into this location for sanitizing wipes as I work nearby doing make up. I stumbled upon some lipglosses that I love and they had all the shades (they're always sold out everywhere) so I grabbed one of each shade. I thought nothing of it until I noticed two white women, one with a pixie cut and one with long gray/blonde hair following me from aisle to aisle. Annoying but continued until everything fell out of my hand, and I put the things on a shelf to gather myself. Then a man blatantly approached me asking if everything was okay. I was going to buy them anyway to prove them wrong until I realized I don't owe a business money to soothe their prejudice and profiling. Next time you want to catch a thief try the preteen in the rainbow crocs. Nasty people nasty attitude I wouldn't give them a cent more and you shouldn't either. read more

Today I went into your store and was greeted by Paul while grabbing my groceries. He asked if I needed any help. I was actually very surprised that he approached me. Its been years since I have encountered an employees walking through a store. Nowadays it's impossible to find an employee at any store when you need help unless you go to the register. This review is mostly just for the bakery. I had a good experience with ordering a custom sheet cake for my son's birthday; I provided some photos that I printed out as inspiration and asked them to recreate something like that and I was really happy with the outcome. There was a minor inconvenience when I walked in and they told me the person that handles custom cakes is not there during all normal store hours so I had to come back at a specific time to place the order. I'd suggest others call ahead to find out what those time are. The shopping center area isn't great and I don't love visiting it alone due to the sketchy vibe but I would come back to get a custom cake. read more

I shopped at this store late last night. When I went to the check out lane, the machine where I input my phone number to earn points for some reason didn't allow me to type in my number. I tried to explain to the clerk that the machine didn't let me do this. He is short with a beard. He was wearing a mask. It was impossible to understand him. He was very rude. I experienced very poor customer service from the front staff at Starbucks this morning. The female employee who opened the store appeared rude and unwilling to assist me. Today I went in to grab some items to cook dinner. Thought it was going to be a normal trip, in and out. I went over to the meat department and was looking in the butcher area and a nice gentleman asked me if I needed help, I told him "no thank you" as in that moment I didn't need help. I then went over to the meats in the open fridge and started comparing prices and realized the chicken in the butcher area was less expensive so I decided to get it from there. The gentleman was no longer there but I waited a little while to see if he'd be back soon, nothing. So I began to say "hello. Hello" nobody came. No biggie. I noticed a guy stocking meats so I asked him if he could help me. His first response to me was " Didn't the other guy ask you if you needed help and you said no". I was SHOCKED!!! I said "excuse me." He then started walking towards me and repeated himself. I then said "in that moment I didn't need help..." once he finally fully approached me he got extremely close to me all WHILE looking in my phone that was in my hand. Again I'm shocked, like what is going on right now... I then ask him can he please back up. He states I have an attitude and I state back that I don't and would just like some help. He then asked what was it I wanted. I let him know but all while going to get my meat he proceeded to down talk me. Instead of taking it there I walked away (he's still making rude comments) and find a manager. Once I found the manager and explained everything she said she'd send someone over to help me. I got back to the butcher area and the gentleman and the guy are both there and the guy states "I'm not helping her.." I then decide to fully defend myself and let him know my husband will be back up here to have some words with him because he's disrespectful and there was no need for all of that. This whole situation didn't have to happen if he has provided proper customer service. If someone is being nasty and rude to you how would you response? Nothing I did nor said was wrong because this was a man who was unnecessarily rude and invaded my personal space. I will definitely be back with my husband to resolve this professionally because that guy should not be working there. He judged me based on appearances (I have toddler twins whom I've been at home with all day) but unfortunately for him he made a huge mistake and I will be making sure I speak with the district manager. I'm sorry to write such a bad review, but the handful of times I've been at this Safeway seems it's under poor management, as well as having a lot of homeless people in the parking lot and in the front of the store. There is a weed shop nearby along with a liquor store, and a 7-Eleven, so I'm sure that attracts the homeless people as well, but goodness! Being followed, or Asked for money as I am coming into buy a few groceries is not ideal. Within the store things seem clean, although in the produce section, there was moldy fruit still out. I saw molded tomatoes, coconuts, bananas, and potatoes! I would not shop at this store, unless you're buying box goods, and enter with a couple of friends since there's homeless people that my pastor/bug you for money. I really wish there was a way we could get the homeless people the mental health and medical help they need, but goodness!! I feel sorry for the employees that have to work here. I will also see the handful of employees I've had ringing me up, looked as if they were high, whether prescription or marijuana, and at today's particular, random pick up of bananas, they were only organic green bananas, which won't be ripe for a few days, but it's freezing outside, and I just needed them. Lol A manager who was a little bit on the thicker side bumped me with her behind, and I pushed forward into the ATM kiosk. I turned back around to figure out what happened and she had no idea. The Safeway is way cleaner and way more space organized than it used to be and is much more pleasant to shop in as well than before!The fact they have a western union where you can send or receive money is a plus as well. I would give it zero stars if I could. Tonight my boyfriend and I were shopping. I went to pick up hamburger, saw 90% lean on sale for 4.99/lb for value pack (yellow tag on the shelf). I was looking at the packages, exact same packages, some had the sale tags some didn't. I hear a man's voice from about 15-20' away, not realizing he was speaking to me. He rudely shouts "Just take one they are all the same" I replied "No they are not, some are not marked with the sale price." He replies "They are not on sale" I said, "Yes, they are and some are marked and some are not" I had two packages with the sale price which matched the tag on the shelf in my hand. He walks over, picks up two packages, compares them and says "They are not on sale, someone made a mistake you cannot have them" and he tries to grab the packages from my hand. I keep one and he says "I will let you have that one but you aren't getting this one." I said they had to honor the price on the tag (see below) and I wanted to see the manager, and he shouts "No we don't, I WORK HERE and that's the end of THAT!" So, he walks away and my boyfriend walks up with the cart having heard my elevated voice and I put the one package in our cart. Then walk back and grab the last package still on the shelf with the sale price. Just as we are finishing our shopping I hear an announcement coming over the PA saking for security to come to the checkout. I jokingly say to my boyfriend "They are coming for my hamburger" He goes to the checkout while I grab one more thing. When I get there he says that the guy came up and shouts at him "Are you here with your wife?" Before he can even answer he shouts at him "You cant have this" and grabs the packages out of the cart. It made him angry to be treated like that and so he said "I have never been treated like this, lets' go, they can keep their damn groceries. We walk away from the full cart of food. There is a lady standing there I believe to be security, I start to try to explain and ask for a manager and she cuts me off and says "Have a nice day" I easily spend at least $1200.00-1500.00/month at Safeway. This is one of the worst ones I have been to. (California's Business and Professions Code 12024.2 states that the correct price of any item is the lowest posted, quoted, or advertised price for which the buyer qualifies (club, coupon, minimum amount purchases, etc.). The store is responsible for removing expired shelf tags and sales signs. If there is a price sticker on the item and it is lower than the shelf price, the sticker or price tag is what the business should consider as the lowest or "correct" price. read more

Either I'm wearing a neon light retard sign across my forehead or else. I mean, immediately as I entered the store some lady started following me. I noticed her as I was passing the drinks. Then she pretended to like a sweater to engage into a faulty conversation. I wonder if she were following me because I am Black or because I was wearing all black. However, my face was very visible, and I wasn't doing anything suspicious, just shopping. I also noticed that she followed me to the self-checkout counter. Always check the expiration dates here because I've come across expired items multiple times. There's always people loitering outside the front of the store. The people at the Starbucks counter are extremely slow and seem to be extremely confused and unaware of how to do their jobs. I tried ordering an iced tea and the person said their didn't know how to make it. I thought they were kidding! One time the lady hid behind the counter to avoid helping me and this other person that works there looks so unkempt. read more

I love a good grocery store, but with so many around, it's hard to see who 'stands out' among the rest! I stopped by this location after being in the neighborhood, and figured I'd get my shopping done here. As soon as you walk in, you can smell freshly cut flowers with displays as far as the eye can see. Not to mention, their floral selection is much nicer than others I've seen. Right beside the floral section, I came across a caramel apple starter pack with fresh, green, apples! Look how yummy! The convenience, idea, and presentation was so clever , I absolutely loved it. My main intention was to get my basics, eggs, milk, cheese, bread - you name it. So this spot was really convenient overall. When it comes to chain stores, I typically expect the same overall experience - neither better, nor worse. But somehow, this Safeway seemed to surprise me at every corner of the store! Everything was well stocked, fresh, and ready to enjoy. I purchased some organic avocados since they were out of the regular, but the organic avocados ended up working out perfectly for my guacamole. Another great detail was how many rotisserie chickens they had available - I've never seen so many! Usually, I'd see five rotisserie chickens on a GOOD day at other locations, but there were so many here! I've never seen this many in one trip. Not to mention, they serve chicken pot pies too! Again, something I've never seen at any other location, but I'm glad I did see them here! The deli section was really helpful with cutting lunch meats, as well as bagging us up the steamed pork buns! ($1.49 each - heats up in seconds ! 10/10) I was really impressed by how easy it was to get a member at deli, since previously I'd find myself waiting a while in hopes someone would show up. Not to mention, the chicken tenders' scent filled the air so it was a nice spot to be nearby. Overall, I really enjoyed this experience. We used self checkout seeing as the line was much shorter. Every single time I visit this Safeway there are long wait times in the checkout lines and at the customer service desk. I sat at the customer service desk for 20 minutes, the lady in front of me was waiting 30 minutes for help. There were employees chatting at the self check out line this whole time, I know they saw us waiting. The employees at the checkout line paged for assistance at the customer service desk but yet no one showed up. I literally do not understand how this store stays open. read more

An employee walks us to the back to unlock the bathrooms, when we get back there we hear the manager start yelling at the worker - "they're working but don't let people back here" he then starts giving the employee a hard time And then he tells us they're out of order. Is this a nation wide company standard? If you want to prevent against and protect people from covid, use some of those cleaning supplies you have on shelves and get a more frequent cleaning schedule created so you can mitigate the fear and still operate like a business that cares about people. read more

This review is for the deli, got a sandwich today and the whole experience was awful. No disrespect, but the person making the sandwiches should know how to make a good sandwich, not look like a deer in the headlights when putting it together. Mid way through i was about to just tell her to stop and leave but i was a bit embarrassed and also felt bad for her so i just tried to move it along as fast as possible. Most the ingredients looked like they had been there for days, i was in shock she put such an old soggy looking tomato on my sandwich, i had to ask her to please put one from a different area as those were so gross. Getting home, my expectations were not high, but safeway did used to have good sandwiches at some point. My "toasted" sandwich was barely toasted, veggies were all stale, i took a few bites and tossed it. Very sad to write this review. The 2 stars is for one of the nice ladies in the pharmacy. Other than that I need to find a new one and transfer all of my meds. I suffer from severe anxiety and have PTSD from being physically assaulted. Medications are personal and no one, nor I owe anyone an explanation nor need to prove myself. My most recent "pick up" I wasn't able to get because my doctor told me they were "wary" of prescribing it. 15 tablets of lorazepam. Are you kidding me? I signed up to have all medications delivered because the dirty looks and judgments from previous pick ups on top of this is too much. People need to walk a mile in one's shoes before judging. Say if you were raped and beaten and had PTSD, would you judge a person then? Not saying that's what happened to me, but would I then still be thought of as "wary" to give a small script or judged? Trying to use the bathroom at your store was a telling experience. It took several minutes, and I asked at least 4 customer service representatives, to help me with the bathroom. Please tell me the code, or type in the code themselves. Two requests went out over the PA system for a customer service representative to help out at the bathrooms. One stock clerk in the warehouse area walked right past me - right in front of the restroom door - but declined to help, wouldn't stop for 1 second, saying, "someone's coming." But in fact no one was coming, as I waited several more minutes. I talked to a stock clerk, a cashier, a pharmacist, and finally a second stock clerk to get let into the bathroom. The second stock clerk was standing only feet away from me, in my line of site, within earshot of me asking the pharmacist for help. And of course he heard the page on the PA system twice. But it was only when I went up to him and asked him to help me that he put down his clip board and came to help. He didn't once look me in the eye and greet me. He just walked quickly to the restroom door not 20 feet away, entered the code super fast without thinking twice - which means the code was not new to him - and not new to any of the staff - they all know it and could have helped. The guy flung open the door, muttered something unintelligible, and walked away. When I stepped into the bathroom I noticed immediately that it was filthy, as there was wet toilet paper stuck to the floor, and as I approached the toilet I noticed a sizeable pile of paper and excrement in the corner. At that point I was truly fed up and exited the bathroom. Having taken a photo of the excrement in the bathroom, I sought out everyone in the store whom I had already talked to, informing them of the condition of the bathroom. The guy who flung open the door denied responsibility and offered to open the other bathroom for me. The pharmacist at least looked me in the eye like a civilized human being. And the cashier at the front of the store refused to look at the photo, or me, or say anything at all. What I came away with is that this is a comically dysfunctional store where the bathroom security is an inconvenience for customers and employees alike, completely ineffective for keeping the bathrooms clean even though an employee is guaranteed visibility with every use as the code is never given out to customers, no one in the store is accountable for customer service, or even greeting customers and looking them in the face. Oh, and the comical part? The cashier who was so rude to me that he wouldn't look me in the face or speak to me was wearing a ridiculous hat with the word "love" spelled out in huge red letters, like, How much more ironic could you be? read more

Awesome Safeway location in the South Bay. The location at Argonaut in Saratoga is the worst. terrible customer service. RUDE, unhelpful guy who is a manager or assistant manager. But campbell is the complete opposite. If you cant find something, ask. they will take you to what you are looking for even if it isnt in their department. The bakery lady (Brandy?) helped me find puff pastry in frozen food section. So nice. The meat department was the same thing. Comes out and helps me look for what I wanted. The deli lady who slices the cold cuts helped me find the right ham, which was prosciutto, and it was perfect for the appetizers for a birthday dinner. Three departments, and three wonderful, nice, helpful people that got me through my list faster. I am never going back to Argonaut again. Came to this Safeway to grab a cake for a farewell party at work. I got back to the bakery and there was nothing but small round cakes and cupcakes. I was hoping they had some sheet cakes like they normally do and maybe they were just in the back. I stood there for almost 10 minutes waiting for someone to come help me. When Mary got there, I asked her if she had sheet cakes and she said "no that's it". I said ok and was looking to see how I can make what they had work. As I was looking Mary said "are u still going to need help or can I go?". I told her I still needed help and was just looking for which one I wanted to grab. I decided on a round cake and 48 cupcakes. I asked her to write on the cake and she gave me a paper to write what I wanted it to say. I wrote "good luck on your next journey" hoping she could write small. She said she can't do it so I went with "good luck". I got the cake back it looks like a 10 year old wrote it. I have to present this cake to one of our restaurants favorite managers and our executive chef who are leaving, but it looks horrible read more

For my wedding I placed an order for a small Cake and cupcakes (144). The ordering process was easy and it was so affordable! Nothing beats $100 versus the $1,000 I would've spent elsewhere. Luckily, I asked to pick it all up the day before the wedding and drop it off at the venue. However, I arrived and bakery staff had already left. They made a mistake and only made 1 set of cupcakes instead of six. I spoke to the manager and begged for staff to make them the next morning. They did and I was able to have someone pick them up. They made the colors of frosting exactly how I wanted it. If you're looking for regular chocolate or vanilla cupcakes, I think it is worth it! $22.99 for 24 cupcakes! read more

This Safeway is terrible, especially the sandwich station. I get we all don't love our jobs but it takes over 20 minutes every single time I try to order a sandwich there. And I'm not ordering anything wild, just one of their sandwiches that's listed to order on the board. The station is never stocked, so they have to walk somewhere at the pace of a snail to get what's missing, touch everything in the area and then go back to touching my sandwich. I really only go here because it's close enough to make my lunch break a little longer but my god, over 20 minutes for a sandwich? Come on. Management is completely nonexistent at this Safeway because it's been a mess for years. Their mishandling of forwarding new hires information is egregious and unfortunate. I actually didn't lose out as Safeway on Hamilton did because this location failed it's job.
