Safeway is run by evil people. I know this because: during the height of the Coronavirus epidemic, instead of helping people out, who were losing jobs or homes, they raised their prices. And then, once the pandemic was over, they raised their prices again. The cost of buying groceries at Safeway is absolutely disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves. This review is for the florist, Guadalupe, only. She recently helped my mom create a small bouquet for my wedding "ceremony". This was a rather last minute request with not a ton of direction. The florist was able to draft up multiple options and really made our limited vision come to life. I received so many compliments on the rose color because she thought enough to have that match my shoe color. There were many phone calls, time between missed calls and questions and Guadalupe's help, patience and work made this process incredibly easy and painless. My husband and I live near the store and have never had any issues until today. I went to the floral department to simply to see if I could get flowers wrapped and I pushed the button for assistance. When someone showed up, her demeanor and approach was very cold and rude. She replied with " What do you want?" I say I was hoping to get some flowers wrapped? Then she looked as if I was an inconvenience to her and she walked away saying, well I don't have anyone here and I don't have anyone available. She said this and walked away from me as if it was no longer her concern or issue. I've NEVER been treated like that EVER!! I was so upset and angry. Then the next thing was the security guard started following my husband and I around the store if we were going to cause trouble or steal!!! We are the customers who were treated UNFAIRLY & UNPROFESSIONALLY. I couldn't believe it. Someone else approached me to assist, and I vented to her about my situation and she acted as if it wasn't her problem either. No apology, no care, no concern about what I went through. Simple replied, " well I'm here." I said " thank you to her for wrapping the flowers" and she didn't reply " you're welcome". I got nothing. I was so extremely upset. This is regarding the Campbell Safeway on Winchester. The reason I am writing is the cleanliness of this store. The only reason I go to this store because it is the closest to me. There have been many bad experiences but I am going to list a few here. There are never any shopping carts and if there are they are usually DISGUSTING. They never look clean and they usually have trash in them. I am putting my food in these carts. Supply issues. They are always out of everything (empty shelves in some ares). One day I went to get a soda and they said their ice machine was broken and then I asked if they had any rotisserie chicken and they said that was broken too. There is always trash everywhere on shelves. I went to the bathroom while shopping last Friday. One bathroom was broken so I used the other one that was worse than a port a potty. The floor was covered in mud, they were out of toilet paper and there was boxes and trash on the ground. There are never enough workers. They only have 2 checkers always. People are always irritated with this issue and many complain to each other while in line. The workers are always in bad moods. I have pictures of most of these issues especially of that bathroom last Friday. I have lived all over California and been to many Safeways and Vons and this Safeway is by far the worst one. Around town this Safeway is known as the disgusting one that most people hate going to. Please make this Safeway a priority. read more

Just horrible customer service skills and incredible laziness on the part of the store manager Heather! Pharmacy hasn't opened on time for two days in row now. First day store manager Heather said they had "sick calls" and it would open at 9:30 which it never did. Today I went at 9:30 and it wasn't open with no note or anything saying what was going on or when it open! When I spoke to Heather the store manager she said told me "they had sick calls what do you want me to do??? She is asking me what she should do?? How about not being lazy and leaving a note at pharmacy letting ppl know what's going on? How about not laughing when dealing with customers who have wasted their time waiting for pharmacy to open on time?? So to sum my review the store manager Heather seems to need guidance in doing her job maybe the district manager and get her some help asap?? I took everything that was in the car and still could not find my phone So, I see went back to the store and asked Peter, the Manager who was up front. He called my phone and my lady friend's phone. I had not left it there. I went back to my car to look in it again. And, there was my phone stuck in the corner behind something else. What a relief that was. Terrible experience tonight with Kiana Rodriguez, checker, and her bagger helper. Not sure the name of her helper, bagging groceries. Kiana, became defensive when we asked about a few of our items discounts that were not applied. Finally, they had what seemed to be the store manager come over to help rectify the issue. Kiana was extremely defiant in wanting to give us the discount when in fact we were right. Additionally, an altercation arose due to other customers waiting. Kiana should have helped in managing the altercation. Even the store manager should have helped and intervened. I was about to call 911. There was only one register open at 8:37pm. Please rectify this issue with Kiana and her bagger helper. I understand why your store has super low ratings in comparison to other Safeway stores. read more

Staff is very unknowledgeable and many of them are very unfriendly. This is probably the worst Safeway I've ever been to. I used to work down the street from this Safeway. Since the border of Los Gatos/Capbell is pretty barren you have to drive into the industrial wastelands of the area to get groceries. Pretty old place but you have to work with what you're given. If you're not near an electronics store you can still get batteries here. read more

I Love Safeway, I love the Gas discount i get when i spend money, we do spend alot there. A Few things i dislike about Safeway is their inability to put new customers Card Applications through. i have to make sure i have the card all the time because my phone number is not in the system. I've had the card for 6+ months. Guess i have to take the time and do their job for them to follow up my information. This Safeway has a Bar to the left of it and a Liquor Store on the right. Late night after 9pm (Maybe) drunks and the transient population are out in full force. During the day you have the Beggars and the voter people (the way we are approached is really discomforting) some of your regulars are a little pushy. Ill give you some law tips to follow up on. A typical large supermarket with a large selection. The fresh fruits and vegetables are generally good, along with the meat selection. The staff is friendly and helpful. On the downside, the checkout lines can get very long, the parking can be a challenge and there can be dodgy looking people hanging around the front of the store. especially in the evening. I go here mostly because it is the closest store to my house and convenient. read more

I ordered a Holiday Turkey Dinner on 11/19, to pick up on Thanksgiving morning at 10:00 am. Received my order number and confirmation email. We always cook, but this holiday we were too exhausted. My father is dying from a terminal illness, declining daily, we had brought him home from the hospital and called in Hospice care to help us. I arrived at the store at 10:00 am on Thanksgiving, went to the Deli to pick up. The Deli employee said all orders have been picked up. Gave her my name again and I showed her my email and she said oh we stopped taking orders before the 19th. She said my email was invalid. I was speechless. She said there's nothing I can do for you. I called to speak to the Store Manager Heather Thompson. Went over to ask for her, she came out of her office and said " I already know I don't need to hear your story, I cancelled your order." I asked why she didn't notify me as my phone number and email are on the order. She stated it was not her job to notify me, it was the online orders responsibility. It's not her fault. I asked what am I supposed to do now? She said she didn't care and there's nothing she could do, it wasn't her fault. (Safeway Customer Service later confirmed it was her responsibility to notify me of the cancellation).Astonished at this woman's rude, uncaring and evil attitude, I said a few choice words to her and left the store. I called a friend of mine who works for Safeway to vent. She happened to be at work, ran to her Deli Manager for help. The Deli Manager made one phone call to another store, they had an extra dinner and was holding it for me. That's all it took. These two women saved out Thanksgiving thank God. So why couldn't Heather Thompson and her Deli crew make calls to other stores? Why did they not care and want to help a customer out? I filed an official complaint a week ago. They said the District Manager would be calling me. I have yet to hear from anyone at Safeway. After reading other reviews on here, it's quite obvious Safeway condones this insane behavior by their employees, otherwise Heather would be gone. And don't waste your time replying to my complaint with how sorry you are. You aren't sorry, you're only sorry a complaint is on a public platform. Fire Heather Thompson or suspend her without pay for a few weeks. She needs to feel the sadness she put her customers through. Would give this store negative stars if I could. Employees here are terribly rude and treats everyone like a thief. The times I came, there's also some useless security dude there that just walks around and looks at everyone and tries to intimidate shoppers. Theres nothing worth stealing in this place anyway. Beware of ordering online, the delivery's are late even after paying extra for a specific delivery windows. Our Order was late by 3 hours. They seem to substitute items with sub par items that are close to expiration date on meat and bread. All the flowers are fresh and so pretty, so I bought two different kinds of flowers because I wanted to make a bouquet for my friend's special occasion. I would like to give 5 starts for this florist BUT the service associate (Christina) was horrible. She was grouchy, unhappy and not nice when I asked her to help me with the bouquet. Employees do not wear masks. My bagger had his mask down below his nose and you could see his lips. I'm a 31 year old man with a basic face mask that goes from the bridge of my nose to a bit below my lips. I was asked to remove my mask after presenting ID. I am nearly bald. I declined and was not allowed to purchase beer. The woman in front of me was clearly in her 40s or 50s, with a very wrinkled face. She too was asked to remove her face mask after presenting ID. So your employees don't have to wear them, but you have chosen that asking EVERY patron to remove a mask to buy age appropriate products is where you draw the line? I am clearly over 21 whether you can see my lips or not, same with the woman in front of me. On my way out I stopped at customer service for a moment thinking of complaining. There I watched a woman buy cigarettes. I feel obligated to come here because I live so close by, but I do avoid this place as much as possible. Customer service extremely lacks, staff don't say hi to you when passing or checking you at at the register. Staff turnaround is pretty quick. The quality of people or training is super low. Most of the time you can't tell who the staff is, no name tag no uniform, jeans, baseball hats and no nonslip shoe. Does a manager work here? Are you concerned about your customer service? Signage is hung stating 3 is a crowd. Nope 15 isn't even a crowd. Customers have to ask to call another checker. Twenty minutes in line and someone from produce? Or loading dock comes over. No apology or acknowledgement. Security seems to be an issue with the amount of panhandlers and locking one side of the building at sunset or before. So what happens if there is a fire or emergency? Your stuck, try the other door? or the older people that don't see the chairs lined up signaling the doors are closed? That's cool. Keep in mind most of the handicap parking is in that side... hmm if it's an issue then get some security you'll spend less and not have to shut the doors to your business. Or better yet hire more staff to be around and help customers?! I now check expiration dates on all products purchased here, too many times have I gotten home or to work and realize it has expired or pretty close to it. I could go back, but I guess my bad for not checking my $4 cold brew before purchasing it. I don't trust the deli or that food that sits under the light all day. The produce is horrible, wrinkly bell peppers, beat up bananas and thrashed sweet potatoes. Products you love may not be carried anymore. But it's ok we have patio furniture for sale, cool pots and fire pits and or produce employees painting the curb red... the curb looks like a real piece of art, messy and abstract? It's frustrating, get some employees, train them and keep quality produce and products up to date. Since when did Campbell get all cougary? This Safeway has tons of them. Unfortunately, they don't all take the same care and attention that the Los Gatos Cougars do but hey, you're not looking at the mantle piece when your stoking the fire... or in my case as a kept man... looking at the fire while searching for a box of Crunchy Nut Clusters. Well stocked store. Parking sucks but the lines are much better inside than the Safeway on Hamilton. You'd think all the local Safeway stores would stock the same shit but they don't. For some reason, this one doesn't have any indian pastes - so I'm dropping a star for that. Good choice of wines though. I'm dropping another star for the clientele who hang around outside.
