Very Disappointed - Misleading Service and Poor Communication I scheduled an air duct cleaning service and specifically requested air duct cleaning. The customer service representative assured me that an air duct vacuum would be performed and even recommended a promotional package that supposedly included both vent and duct cleaning. However, when the technician arrived, he only cleaned the vents and did not perform the air duct vacuuming as promised. When I questioned this and called the supervisor, he informed me that I had purchased only the basic package, which does not include air duct cleaning--contradicting what the representative had told me. To make matters worse, I felt pressured to proceed and pay for the service because they insisted the technician was already at my home. This company offered a low price of $99 to clean the laundry vent in a two bedroom rental unit. Once there, they claimed the 2nd story unit, also on the top floor, had a very long vent that exited on the roof and each foot cost more money. So the bill came to over $500. Then the vent started leaking water, and they claimed it wasn't their fault, because their equipment didn't reach the roof! Sounds dubious. BEWARE BAIT N SWITCH SCAM! Called Safe House Air Duct cleaners on 3/5 after several unsuccessful attempts to get my air ducts cleaned by Sears and Unique Air Ducts. (Sears quoted me $99 price on the phone and when the techs got here they upped the price to $697 claiming Sears requires the blower to be cleaned too . Unique wouldnt take my calls because I've previously used them and wanted the same deal and the agent on the phone all of a sudden had technical glitches with her phone lines .) When I called Safe House I explained my dilemma and they reassured me there was no gimmick and that it would just be $200+ for air duct cleaning. Joseph confirmed his arrival via text and arrived two hours later than promised. I explained the same speel to him: the previous unsuccessful attempts And I'm just getting an air duct cleaning as required by my brand new hvac system warranty's requirement to trouble shoot airflow issues to one vent. He counted the vents in the ceiling, went to the attic checked things out and came back down with more eye roll inducing news: it's going to be $399 for the next package up because our "ducts are bad." I declined the upgrade and reminded him of my $200 budget And their agents assured me I would not pay more or be upsold. He said ok and he has to let his supervisor know. All of a sudden Joseph could not get ahold of his supervisor. He lollygagged for 15 minutes then disappeared outside for another 10 minutes. I called the Safehouse dispatch to inquire what's going on. The agent says she would call and find out just then Joseph drives off while I'm on the phone with dispatch. She says I'll find out what's happening and Call back. She calls back and says the tech says our ducts are bad and he recommends the 399 package. I decline that again and she reassured me she's going to call him back and the supervisor has okayed doing the $200 job. Here's where the video starts. Joseph comes back and basically says he can't do the $200 job because he wants to do a good job. I'm not boo boo the fool. The first visit from Safe House was fine based on what I knew. They inspected and cleaned my dryer vent. However, a few weeks later I requested they come out to investigate a knocking noise in the wall (it was suspected that a bird may have gotten in through the roof, as I am on the top floor and that's where my dryer vent exits). After the tech went on the roof, he confirmed that the dryer guard that prevents animals from getting in, was missing. He claimed he told me this on the first visit and that I declined having him replace it. That didn't sound familiar to me, so I asked if there was record of that on the invoice, and no, there wasn't (I found this odd because every other company I get service from lists details like that on the invoice, which is a smart practice). Then the tech started rattling off how much it would cost to remove the bird's nest and sanitize (to the tune of $500+). I wasn't prepared to pay for that at the time, and also felt that something was off with this whole situation, so I asked if I could speak with a manager to have them explain it all to me. The tech placed a call back to the office and I was handed the phone. Unfortunately that call wasn't helpful. The "manager" said he didn't know what the tech did on the first visit and couldn't verify what was needed for the current visit. All of this was jus so odd to me, so I declined the service for the bird's nest. The tech became visibly upset and even started raising his voice because he "came out here even with hurt leg from a motorcycle accident". While I empathize that Safe House didn't have another tech to send, that is no reason to start yelling at a customer. I was very shaken and unimpressed with the whole situation, and therefore, cannot recommend this business. It was just so unprofessional. read more

Take your business elsewhere to avoid getting cheated. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of work. The day we were getting our HVAC unit replaced, and we were able to see the inside of the duct where it was connected to the air conditioning unit, we saw layers of gunk. It would be least to say that the quality of cleaning was poor and seemed as though it was never cleaned. This defeated the purpose of having detailed cleaning done before having our unit replaced. We have two family members who have asthma and breathing problems. Please note that we had paid $1100 for this deep cleaning service instead of opting for regular service of $129. At the point we discovered this HVAC installation company was already there and we had no option to get the system cleaned by somebody else and had to get the system installed without any cleaning. Additionally, we left the house at the time of treatment, as we were told that there would be some chemical treatment. Upon returning, we saw that whatever dirt they were able to clean from other ducts was lying all around and was no cleaned. We contacted SafeHouse for a refund, but they are only offering a 25% refund. They also offered to send someone else to finish the job, but they have lost trust with me as a customer, because clearly they only did superficial work. The prices they charge are not worth it at all. If you are considering them, take your business elsewhere. If you've use them before, use someone else. They clearly only do superficial work. I wish I could give this company 0 stars. I called this company out to clean an outdoor vent that had a birds nest. I explained to the company that it was imperative that they put a bird cage on the vent after they finish, to prevent the birds from returning. The tech assured me that he would put a cage on the vent. After cleaning my indoor vents, and installing a $300 UV light that I can't even use because there is no electrical sources available near my furnace, he proceeds to clean the outdoor vent. Once he's finish, he tells me that his cage won't fit, and that his company will come back and bring a cage that fits. This was a complete lie. I called and basically begged them to come back. They told me the only way they would come back and complete the first job, is if I purchase an additional service for $500. Not even 24 hrs later, the birds picked up the nest that the technician left in my yard, and started to rebuild in my vent. So the cleaning that I paid for didn't even last a day. They didn't clean my furnace as I was told they would, and they installed a $300 UV light that I can't even use. They left a huge pile of dirt in my bathroom, after cleaning the bathroom vent. I had an AF code on my dryer months. THREE different companies were contacted to do the job starting in November. We had the motor changed, the drum inspected, and multiple visits from my home warranty company. A&E Factory came once and supposedly cleaned it. AF light came back on probably before he reached the corner. Asked to come back and no showed three times. Had to get a refund from my credit card company. We thought a large company would be superior and more efficient - WRONG (don't use them) Safe House came early. The tech, Yonathan and his aide, evaluated the area to determine how much work was needed. I was given a quote and they went to work. He took pictures as he worked. He also made recommendations. They had to crawl under my deck to get to the outside vent. The sensor light has not come back on. I would certainly recommend this company to my friends. For an evaporator coil clean, they quoted the extra $800, you can get the Nu-calgon foam coil on for less than $20 and do it yourself. On the phone, they quoted unlimited srub/vacuum for all supply and return vents tied to each unit, but the technician said they wouldn't scrub all the supply vents and the price just included 1 return vent. Moreover, it's a small low-power vacuum / not a high-power vacuum as mentioned on the phone. I refused to sign and let the technician do the work and sent them back. This was one of my worst customer experiences yet. The cost was more than double what I was expected to pay and Moses left an absolute mess. To make matters worse it took numerous calls to get them to come back out and reclean the 2nd floor dryer vent because Moses had clogged it up so that the dryer no longer worked. Instead of owning it when he finally arrived, he tried to tell me it was a bad dryer sensor. You are better off finding another vendor in my opinion for quality and value. read more

The technician showed up late, the did a haphazard job of cleaning the ducts - missing some until I asked if he'd gotten one that I'd noticed. The wetvac hose that he stuck into the vents was only extended a short distance so probably cleaned that short distance, but not the whole duct. At one point, he was in my husband's closet (where there is a vent and/or return, but he was sitting on the floor texting his girlfriend, he explained. This company is a fraud. They charged me a lot of money to install UV lights into both my Hvac and heatpump systems. A technician came after them to look at my units, and saw that neither one of the units had the bulb in them, nor were they even hooked up. They taped the wire to the side of the units to make them appear like they were connected and getting power. This makes me feel like they didn't even clean my ducts. I think they showed me pictures of a dirty, moldy coil that was not mine - it was someone else's that they used to scare us into cleaning the inside of our HVAC unit and installing a UV light. They came to my house and offered the worst service. They claimed the $189 price included everything but when they got here the cleaned the vents and when they got to the furnace the guy Todd became irate and wanted to charge us an additional $199 for cleaning out the fans for my central air. What do you contact a company to clean out your vents for if they charge you extra for cleaning the blades of your fan. He said he was going to take a toothbrush to clean it when he couldn't even clean it the correct way. We ended up follow up after him with a dry shop vac. They gave me a quote for a rate of $89 for standard dryer vent cleaning up to 10 feet. If the dryer vent extends beyond, it is $8 per foot extra. We live in a row home in Baltimore City and the dryer is located on the second floor with the vent going to the roof. Here is as it is feedback that I sent to person coordinating with me at this company: So about today, your team came and did their thing. They were polite and  wearing masks. No hazmat suits.  Which is ok. They changed the dryer pipe for extra $79. Which is ok. They were supposed to install new part which I trust they did. They mentioned if anything is wrong with the unit, that's not covered. Which is ok. Half way during cleaning one of your technician showed me both units and mentioned that they are very dirty and as soon they are gone after cleaning vents, the dirt in units will make vents dirty again. He quoted me $720 to clean and sanitize units. I would have appreciated knowing in advance that dirty units will make my vents dirty again, immediately. So, I basically paid you guys to clean vents just so that units dirty them again immediately and to avoid that I have to pay $720? I felt kind of cornered with that approach. I would have loved to know that analysis in advance. Maybe I would have gone with the unit cleaning first and vents later? Anyways .. it is what it is. Just approach didn't strike very honest to me. I called and scheduled a deal of both HVAC and dry vent cleaning which they had contacted our Condo HOA to provide offer. I explicitly told them our association name and gave them my full address (THIS INCLUDED UNIT #) Guy shows up doesn't know how to enter our complex, 1st hint. I give him instructions and buzz him in. Then he calls back to say what floor am I on ?!?!? I gave my 3rd floor unit number and he explains to me he cant get to my dryer vent, it has to been done on the outside and is very high and risky. WTF #2. He says he can do the HVAC vents but not the dryer vents. Well, someone called me about my initial review and scheduled a return visit from the two gentlemen who initially cleaned the ducts. This time they spent more time vacuuming out the furnace (and used the older filter you see in the picture, so my like new filter that I replaced it with wouldn't get blackened like that one). The second cleaning job of the furnace was much more thorough. I have had my kids out of the house since they came the first time. They returned after the re-cleaning and the next morning, my son had sniffles that he didn't have until he returned. Scam. This company is a scam at best. They called me for business. Told me about a $59 dollar special and a $129 dollar special they had for June. Scheduled an appointment and guess what, they never called or showed up. I then get a call from the rep and they apologized, said that they would send a tech out on my schedule and give me the June rate. Ok, no problem. I told them to come today, between noon and 3 because I had an errand to run and I had to go into the office. I get a call at 930 saying they are on the way. I just got on the train heading to Rockville,and it was after 930 so I had to now pay to get out. I get here and the guy doesn't even bring up the $59 deal he goes right into the $129. But my vents needed cleaning because I had rented out my house to some people who trashed my property, which I am trying to restore little by little. Then the main guy tells me I have mildew in my vents and it will be $600 to clean. $600 to vacuum which they were already doing and blow cinnamon thru my vents? He didn't even produce a price list, just pulled that number out the air. Low and behold, I got a mailer for ANOTHER COMPANY TO DO THE SAME JOB FOR $200!! For the extra money, you would of thought he would of thrown in cleaning my dryer vent and retaping it. I had to write a check for $779 and I don't know how 129 and 600 equals $779. I was quoted $85 for dryer vent cleaning for up to 10'. When the guy came he told me that I needed 30+ feet for the dryer only and that would be $540. As I refused, the price kept going down to even $180 for the the dryer and the entire house. By then, I knew I could not trust this person but I agreed to have him clear the dryer vent on the outside for the original price. He must have been there for 5 minutes max and he left and when I went to check I found that he had ripped the protective vent cover and trashed the vent outlet. I am disgusted with this company and I am sure when inspected I will find that he did next to nothing. They may claim that the vent was like that but I had looked at it 2 days before and it was not broken. Technician came on time. Cleaned only 1 return out of 3. Cleaned 4 floor vents out of 14. I paid for a dryer cleaning and he didn't want to. Turned on dryer and said "it works". He did NOT take photos of the inside of the ducts, nor did he show me what was pulled out of the ducts as was discussed on the phone with the office. This morning our house was very cold. I found out that he turned the furnace off, left the fan on, and didn't turn the furnace back on. I complained to the office. They sounded interested and said they would call me today - no call. I stopped payment on the check -as I told the office I would do if I didn't hear from them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR MANY, MANY REASONS. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I called the business today (2-26-19. 7 days after requested phone call from them which never came) l "spoke" with Sam. He told me that if I removed my review he would not charge me for the "service" they only half heartedly did to me. Sam constantly interrupted me, would not let me speak. Extremely rude and decided it was his job to mansplain business to me. He told me he was at a funeral so could not call me. (Ha). I guess there is only one person working at this place. Not seal, and not even any drill. I called their manager that they don't clean the furnace dust, and they said they did. I went back home, opening the furnace and man!
