A great little shop in a quirky little mall. Sadie's is a family owned and operated business, yet manages to price items competitively. There are many items here you won't find in the big chain stores. The proprietor has had several dogs but also carries high-quality cat products. If you are lucky, you might see the family's new border collie pup Annie, who is going to make a perfect shop dog in her adulthood. I live close to Sadie's so I sometime's pop in just to see what is new even if I don't have anything to buy. It helps that sometime's they have shop dog Molly in. She is a sweetie that loves meeting new people and getting some belly rubs. Sadie's is a small boutique pet shop tucked away in the Lendrum Shopping Centre, close to the Subway side of the strip mall. They specialize mostly in cat and dog stuff but you can still find some other small pet stuff for fish,birds, guinea pigs, etc. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. They do grooming in the back but I have never used the service so can't provide any useful info on that. All in all it is a great small pet shop to check out if you are in the area! read more

Cute little pet shop on 111st. I went here looking for a collar for my 60lb boxer and didn't end up finding anything I really liked. I got the impression from the clerk as well as the Pomeranian cross following me around, that this store suited smaller breed dogs more than my big fat bully breed. I did however find, what I thought, was a great chew toy for my dog. My dog thinks that ice is a treat and I found a toy that was plastic and could be filled with water and then frozen. It was sort of the equivalent of a unflavored Popsicle for dogs. The unfortunate thing is that this "chew" toy could not withstand "chewing" Boo. $5 down the drain. Other than that, I enjoyed my experience at Sadie's Pet Shop. You could definitely substitute this local business for chains for many pet needs, but it does not have quite as vast of a selection that the chain pet stores have. read more

I feel like the reviews posted of this location are outdated, and more than likely no longer accurate, because I have never received anything by stellar service (from this location or any of the other Sadies around the city). I have a 20 lb mini Schnauzer who is 11 years old, and only started having him groomed at Sadie's this summer. I prefer him to have very short hair and a tight beard - keeping the length consistent on all areas of his body was something that I found a few other groomers weren't able to do. For our very first appointment, the groomer had actually booked him in for the entire afternoon, because as she put it "schnauzers can be stand-offish and need time to adjust to the groomer/being groomed". She had slated him for 3 hours, but he's a champ and was done in an hour. His cut has remained consistent across appointments (he goes in every 3 months), and I really like that he comes home smelling clean, but not in an overpowering, perfumed way. The cost for his grooming is average, about $60. The store is definitely smaller than some pet stores, but they thrive on customer service. The store employees are always ready to help at a drop of a hat - in fact, they just helped me find the correct size and type of dog booties for Iggy last weekend. This entailed sizing him (and finding boots that were the right shape for his paws), showing me how to put them on, and letting him try them out in the store! I obviously plan on returning, and I would encourage anyone in the area or passing by to check them out too! read more

Sadie's is a really cute little pet shop with a lot of fun pet stuff. My favorite things in Sadie's were the dog Halloween costumes! They were adorable! I would never put my dog in one, but they were super cute all the same. I was greeted upon entering the store which was nice, however, it went somewhat downhill from there. The clerk proceeded to follow around the store as I browsed. She followed me, asking me nonstop questions about my dog. It got really annoying! I felt as if she thought I was lying about having a dog so she kept trying to put me on the spot! What kind of dog? How old is your dog? What does your dog like? What does she eat? It was exhausting! I left Sadie's without a purchase because I couldn't stand the interrogation anymore! I wanted to buy, but obviously didn't, a toy that was a stuffed animal - only without the stuffing. My dog chews things like crazy and we always end up with stuffing all over the floor so I thought that a stuffing-free stuffed animal was a really great idea. They have a lot of cute stuff. I can't give 0 stars? Well that is a shame! Firstly, let me just say this isn't a recent review, the last time I have been here was about 3 years ago BUT another one of my friends had a horrible experience here and was broken up about it saying " The Yelp reviews were so amazing - I can't believe that happened! " - SO i decided to share my experience. I worked fairly close to Sadie's at the time, and I owned a senior dog (she was 16) who needed a hair cut as she was looking pretty wild! My dog was(she passed away last year) OLD - lets just make that point clear, she literally was like a stuffed animal, you put her somewhere and she just chilled there for hours. I would frequently take her to work because she spent 7 out of the 8 hours just laying her in bed. She was just CHILL! So she needed a haircut, I worked a few stores down and I thought well there we go! Drop her off at Sadies, walk over and get her when shes finished and all while I am working! How easy! Well, sometimes easy is NOT the best. I dropped her off in the morning, went through everything - trim her hair, her nails, around her face - just clean her up nicely! I let them know I work 5 minutes away so just give me a call and I would walk over and pick her up, they told me she'd be finished in 2 hours. I asked them to call me right away so she didn't have to be locked up even for a minute because she gets frantic when that happens. I was told that they wouldn't need to as she was the first client. Cool! How perfect! Well 5 hours later I got a little worried, why was it taking so long? I figured I'd save myself the phone call and walk over. I walked in and the two people working there just looked at me when I walked in - Dead-pan stares. So i inquired about my dog, and was told they had a problem and were not able to do her haircut. How strange, my super chill, super old dog who has literally never had problems!? They go and get her, i hear a cage UNCLICK (WTF!?) and she comes out with POOP on her, ALL over one side of her thigh. The girl is holding her like shes never seen poop before, and my dog is SHAKING. So heres what they tell me what happened: She was getting a haircut, and she started acting up, so they put her in the kennel for an hour then when they tried again she had a seizure and pooped herself. So firstly, my dog who has never acted up ever, did. Second my dog who has never had a seizure, did. THEN you don't even call me!? That seems like KINDA a big deal. Hm, okay, but then you literally left poop all her over and are about to hand her back to me? I asked them to bathe her because I couldn't take a poopy dog back to work, and they agreed, I waited a few minutes and they bring out my WET dog and hand her back. ACTUALLY!? Then who ever I am talking to says to me that I will still need to pay for the bath and nail trim - ARE YOU SERIOUS!? You didn't phone me, you put my dog in a kennel, you probably lied to me, you tried to give me back a poopy dog, then you look troubled when i ask you to bathe her and you are going to charge me?! WITH MY WET DOG IN HAND!? You honestly believe I am going to pay you? ACTUALLY? My dog apparently had a SEIZURE in front of you - and you didn't call me? Is this a joke? Sadly it was not a joke and they charged me $25! My dog was now wet, probably cold too, and still shaking. I paid, I left, I have NEVER been back. I can't imagine what my dog went through, but I know there is not enough money in the world to make me ever go back to this place. I prefer groomers where the dogs are not in the back of a closed off area, and can be seen at all times while being trimmed! Moral of the story - do not go here if you love your pet. Maybe its changed, maybe it hasn't - I'll never trust them enough to find out! read more

Recently took our puppy mill rescue dog to Sadie's for a second grooming since we adopted her. I can't say enough good things about Hannah the groomer!! A wonderful experience and groom. Our little Yorkie looks so cute! All our needs/expectations were met as we knew it would be a traumatic experience for Allie and asked that she be there a minimal amount of time but required quite a bit of cleanup as her first groom at another shop was awful. Love that notes were left for us so that we know how our dog responded and the extra bit of service was appreciated as gentleness and time is the essence to rehab for a puppy mill dog. Location is perfect for us and all the staff/dogs are so welcoming! read more

Horrible groomer! I took my dog there who has a long coat. He has some mats because his coat is changing to his adult coat. I just wanted a bath and tidy...I received a call saying that they could not get the mats out and that he needed to be shaved!!!! I said no way! I went to pick him up and nothing was done! He was wet and got put into a crate!!!! I am furious with the incompetence of their groomer Crystal! I brought my dog home and was able to brush out his mats with a regular brush! I feel like she is not trained properly at all...my dog is well behaved and if she took the time to brush him out she could have got out any mats he had! I will never return to this place and I do not recommend taking your dog there! The star rating should be zero! read more

I love Sadies! The staff are always pleasant and helpful and more than willing to spend the extra time to make sure you get just the right product for your pet. Both of my dogs attend daycare hosted at their Argyll location and I couldn't be happier with the attention and love my dogs recieve while they're away from home for the day. read more

Invasively helpful staff unless you're in the mood to talk to everyone. They want to answer questions even when you make it clear you know what you are looking for. The two employees present when I stopped by made me feel boxed off by standing in the middle of the aisle on either side of me. I felt distrusted. I'll get this out of the way, I work in another petstore in the city, I came to this store looking for a treat for one of my pets no one in the city seems to sell(not even my store) I walked into the store as a customer looking to buy, engagged in small talk with the lady at the desk, when she asked where I normally buy things for my pets (question made me very uncomterable.) I told her that I worked in a petstore in the city, she than asked me to leave the store. Very unprofessional, I understand if I walked in in my uniform how it would be a nagative thing to have me in her store but I was off the clock and not even going to work that day. read more

I love taking my dog to Sadie's for a special treat, or to find something that other stores may not carry. The staff in there are always pleasant, and take the time to help me find what I need, and are very educated on the products that they sell! Very, very, extremely poor customer service! As I live over an hour and a half away, I was trying to save some legwork. I explained this the person whom answered the phone. I asked if there is anyway I can see the product - the snarky reply was 'ya, on the shelf.' This company has a website and facebook page, but has no idea what the purpose of either is - I guess! Unless they think the purpose is to frustrate customers further. NO THANK YOU. I will NOT come into your store to maybe find what I am looking for. I've been here a few times to pick up food and it's never there, even when I call in and ask ahead of time. I asked to look at their grooming room and girl at the till seemed scared. The groomers seemed pissed off that I wanted to take a peak. It was a disgusting mess of black moldy tiles, dog hair literally on everything, and one groomer was yelling at a dog for whining in his tiny crate. The owner is also a very intense guy who stalks you around the store asking unusually invasive questions. read more

Horrible experience! Made an appointment for a grooming and had something terrible happen in my life so I had to move last minute. With everything going on I had forgot to call and cancel my appointment. They called me multiple times and left a voicemail off the store phone. And than they called me off of what I think was her cell and I answered just because they kept harassing me! I understand I messed up and missed my appointment but when you have personal issues to deal with my dogs hair cut was the last thing on my mind. Than the lady went to say well if you cancel your appointment in red deer (which is where I live now) you will not be able to get another appointment. Alright thank you for feeling the need to call me at least 5 times to just give me a lecture to just add to the stuff I'm already dealing with . I understand calling once and leaving a voicemail I get that but to call multiple times off the store phone and than off a different phone to just give me shit I don't need that especially not right now. A grungy store that should revamp starting with the clerk at the counter. She was very very pushy and i felt like i was an intruder. I didn't feel welcome at all. As for prices they were as much as 10$ more for certain items I buy at other pet stores. read more
