Came to Homes Alive this past weekend to volunteer with Zoe's Rescue Society (I foster kittens!). The staff were fabulous and knowledgeable. The treat section for dogs was out of this world! I've got to admit I was a tad bit jelly wishing kitties had adorable baked treats but I understand the diets are entirely different. The layout of the store was easy to navigate with kitties in the back - saw what? Nobody puts kitty in a corner - just kidding! I highly recommend the CatIt line of toys she ball tracks - they build together and are always a winner with my kitty klan! They had a great selection of Oilers jerseys and bandanas for fury friends and collars and tags galore! There's a clearance section in the back left corner of the store just past the public washrooms. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program - first Tuesday of the month is 10% off regularly priced items. As part of their great customer service quest, they give you a second receipt to drop in a box on the wall on your way out ranking the service you received on that visit! read more

My first time here, and all I can say it is so much better than all the other pet stores I've been to! I didn't even know about it until it was recommended to me, as I've always just went to PetSmart. Much more selections of everything you can think of here. My pup is a fan of the natural tendons to chew on, and they have various sizes and prices of them here. Prices for most things are even better here. If you sign up for their loyalty program you can get store dollars towards in store purchases. As well, you will get a 10% coupon off monthly. The people working here are friendly and helpful. They have also set it up safely for Covid. Only drawback is the parking can be a bit tight. Anyways bye bye other pet stores, I have found my new fave place to take my fur buddy! read more

I came across Homes Alive online while searching for Canadian online pet retailers. My review is based on my experience with their online business. The website is done well, easy to search for products and there are lots of sales. At the time, I was searching for interactive cat toys and was able to find one on sale that I have seen at other pet retailers at regular price. I ordered a bunch of items including other pet toys and treats. There were items I ordered that were not stock however, they do not charge you for items that are on backorder. I received email notification to let me know about backordered items and was given the option to reach out to cancel those items otherwise they would send out the items as soon as they are in stock. I am still waiting for those items hence the 4 star review for now. If you do not meet the minimum spend for free delivery, the delivery fee is not too bad. I think it was about $5 for my order and I spent around $75 and I was able to find a coupon online for $10 off my order. Overall, I would recommend the online store for anyone searching for a good online pet retailer within Canada. The shipping was quick as well and they have a lot of natural pet brands. They have a really good selection of pet brands and reasonable pricing. read more

The name...while it doesn't scream PET SUPPLIES, just walk in that door and prepare to be amazed. Every...single...thing I need is here. And this year was a high needs year for us, from senior cat to senior dog, a broken electric litterbox that had to be replaced asap, to a giant indoor dog loo ( thats a potty for the elderly puppy that can't wait for you to get home from work & let em out)!! It's a bright airy shop, plenty of room for you and a cart to roam. Giant selection of foods, treats, toys, leashes, combs, brushes, beds, live food, fresh food, (deep breath here), cat boxes, litter, oh... and staff to help you find it all. Good staff. Plentiful staff! As it turns out, I grew up visiting the Ropps store, made friends with the many kittens and puppies and the myna - likely their family knew mine, it's a small world! Although the days of the myna are long gone, and they thankfully no longer sell live animals (except crickets!), they know, love and honour you and your pets. Yes pets, hamster, ferret, cat, dog and cats that think they're dogs! Nothing too trivial and they'll turn the store inside out to help you find what you need or what works for you and the furry/scaly one. (Thank you dog loo!) This company is exceptional. I order online and I have had it arrive as early as the next day - and I live an hour outside of Edm! If you email their customer service, they reply right away and resolve your issue with a smile. The website is easy to navigate, their prices are better than going to a pet store and they have a great selection to choose from. I have been ordering my pet food from them ever since my first visit, as they have proven to be dependable and very easy to deal with. I dislike the fact that it is so far away from us in Spruce Grove but this is by far the best pet supply store around. Endless selections of dog and cat food plus treats and toys galore. We love this store, one of the best in the city, conveniently located for us to stop by on the way back from work or on a weekend with our pup. He loves the attention he gets. Everyone thinks he is handsome. The store is clean, neatly organised, lots of choices for food, supplies, and knowledgeable staff willing to assist. This is my new go to pet store in edmonton! (Just to clarify, it's a pet supply store and they do not sell dogs or cats). They're fairly new but they're off to a wonderful start. The space is large and clean and well stocked with a lot of organic and higher end pet food that you may not be able to find at pet smart or other larger chains. They have supplies for every type of pet and their selection is amazing with competitive prices! Their staff are extremely helpful and friendly and they have great deals. This is really one of the top notch pet stores in Alberta. I really like that they are Alberta owned, and do carry quite a bit of Canadian product. Both locations are bright, and clean, with informative staff. There are so many foods (raw,kibble,wet) ,beds, scratching posts, litters, toys,games,health supplements, harnesses, collars, car safety such as carriers, barriers, you name it they have it. The first Tuesday of the month is 10% off all non sale items, and it can be quite beneficial. Prices are reasonable and comparable to other pet stores offering similar products, also if needing to return an item they are quick and is an easy process. If it is busy when you are about to pay, they will call another cashier to help out, to keep check out lines smooth and quick. Also they have a points program, so as you spend, you earn points (loyalty points) which can be used towards future purchases. Of course, your pets can come in and shop with you, which is always a nice way to spend some shopping time! read more

My dogs are on a food that can be hard to find in more of the larger chain pet food stores. I am happy that Homes Alive carries it! Homes Alive supports rescues. Part of the sales proceeds goes to help local rescues. They have a great loyalty program that you can register your phone number with. I believe it is every 12th item is free. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They have a rating system where you deposit your sales receipt in one of the boxes to let the staff members know how well you were taken care of. Reptile food is easily accessible in the freezer. Many hard to find raw diets are also available. Free parking located out front. read more

Great pet store with a wonderful selection of quality products online. They have very helpful and friendly customer service. I have ordered online multiple times and have been happy with the shipping and my orders always arrive in good condition. The only disappointment with their service is that their online inventory is not often up to date. Every time I have ordered, at least one item in my order comes up back ordered when they go to ship my order, which can be frustrating as I often don't know how long the wait will be. I have also previously had items ordered that were backordered and not coming back into stock that are cancelled from my order. I placed an online order about a month ago, easy process and lots of great sales. One of the items I ordered was a leash - I used it for about a month and one of the plastic connections broke, it appeared to be a manufacturing defect because it was in such a weird place. Anyway, I emailed them asking if I could exchange it and they responded quickly saying they would just send out send out a new one and not to worry about shipping the old one back.
