I am glad I had a chance to visit before Thanksgiving to stock up on some goodies! If you've been to Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown, Four Town is kind of similar, although the rustic farmhouse-chic shop does not have a prepared foods counter. However, they more than make up for it with all the amazing vegetables and fruits grown onsite. I was very impressed with the Honeycrisp Apples and Butternut Squash, as well as their wide selection of house made jellies and salad dressings. In addition to Four Town's slate of offerings, they also showcase other local vendors such as Wrights Dairy Farm's milk and cakes and Venda Ravioli's frozen fresh pasta and sauces. Four Town also carries fresh flowers and greenery that is holiday-ready - Christmas Trees and decorative wreaths and evergreen garlands. The team is friendly and offers excellent assistance in recommendations and recipe ideas- everyone we interacted with was delightful. This is a great stop along the way to lunch or dinner in neighboring Warren or Bristol, and a lovely way to spend a weekend afternoon!

In the outdoor waiting area, there are a few giant tires that are filled with sand and toys that entertained the kids. Then the tractor pulled up for our hay ride. It was really fun! Lots of corn to see and even a neighboring property that was training agility dogs. On the farm there are alpacas and a donkey. The ride ended in an area that had wooden picnic tables, covered eating area, fire pit, and the kindest donkey in the world who tolerated all the kids wanting to pet it. Back there we had tasty dinner and then made s'mores. (Something was up with the fire pit that made it extra hot so even as an adult I had a hard time staying long enough to toast a marshmallow.) There's a porta potty for restrooms, but we opted to skip that and drive to a restaurant indoor bathroom instead. Thanks for hosting us CAR and Oakdale Farms!

I finally decided to make some mulch beds in the front to add some pop. This was my first visit to a nursery to actually purchase large shrubs and plants so I went having no idea exactly what I wanted nor what anything was called. First off I have to say if you visit you must ask for Norma. She was incredibly helpful and took all the time needed to help me pick out exactly the style I had in my mind and wether it would thrive in the area I wanted to put it. She also knows everything there is to know pretty much about every plant, shrub, flower, etc. I brought her photos and measurements of where I was putting the plants and she patiently helped me look all over the nursery to find what would fit and look best. Pricing on all of the items I took home were very reasonable. She also gave me all instruction on how to plant the shrubs and all necessary compost and growing starter. I brought the shrubs home and placed them where she told me to and it is going to look perfect when they are planted. I had an excellent experience and will be returning for future projects I'm planning. I would recommend redwood to anyone looking for some great ideas and plants for they're home.
