    Beauty from Frerichs farm

Wonderful trees from Maine. Great holiday spirit. Why anyone would get a tree at a big box store with so many family farms in the area is beyond me. Great prices as well.

    Peacock on the farm!

There was beautiful garland and you could mix and match greenery to make your own decor too.

Get thine hiny to Hidden Gardens ASAP. Parking isn't obvious so here's the deal: pull into the Coleman Real Estate driveway and you'll see the parking lot actually wraps around the back of those buildings and you can enter Hidden Gardens from there. It literally feels like you walked into a secret garden. Stone pathways lead you throughout the space and you really get a feel for what these plants look like in a natural setting instead of lined up like 100's of soldiers on store shelves. They have a good variety of annuals, hanging baskets, feature flowering plants like peonies and roses, veggies, herbs and more. Their prices are very good and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I went in looking for a rose bush but admittedly I know nothing about roses. The gentleman working gave me a quick, concise tutorial and helped us pick out the best plant from his offerings. What I appreciated most was his realistic sales approach....as in he didn't try to sell us the plant, he just guided us and left the decision of whether to purchase there or not up to us. Bonus: they have a great old wooden birdcage with real birds!

All this time I was missing out on a fantastic botanical wonderland with native perennials and a superb variety of pollinator plants. I've been creating a pollinator garden and word of mouth everywhere was to visit Prickly Ed's to stock up on plants. There are echinaceas, lobelia cardinalis, asclepias, rudbeckia, euthrochium spp., aquilegia canadensis, symphyotrichum novae angliae, liatris, shrubs, annuals and more. As you wander through the rows of plants, you'll be greeted by friendly staff who are more than happy to share their wealth of knowledge and gardening tips. I went there with my carefully curated list of plants determined to stick with it but as soon as I stepped foot into this botanical playground my addiction kicked in. The list was put away and I surrendered to the allure of Prickly Ed's plant bounty. I just can't help myself.
