I placed an order to pick up a grilled chicken Caesar salad..they said it would be ready about 10 minutes took about 15minutes. They have a bar area and a dessert area (which looked delicious as I waited for my order) the actual establishment looks big on the outside but it's not so big inside.. They do have a big parking lot in the back of the dinner and some parking on the side. My grilled chicken Caesar salad was pretty big.. Definitely worth the $12 the only thing I did not like is the amount of dressing they put on my salad. They didn't ask if I wanted on the side or in it which is fine I didn't care but with the amount that they put I will make sure to ask for it on the side next time. It was just way too much caesar dressing. As for cleanliness it looked pretty clean. They also have an ATM machine if you need cash. read more

1 star solely because of the owner I witnessed the owner (Tina) physically shove, scream at her employee. She also absolutely disgusting towards her customers. Full story below: Service goes a long way. I've been conflicted to write this review, since I do really enjoy their food (saddle brook panini). HOWEVER, I was reminded during these times that service goes a long way. I've had an altercation with their owner Tina who is not just RUDE to the customer but rude to her own staff. At first I didn't know she was the owner, but I had seen her physically shove one of her workers to move out of the way while she was sweeping when we first sat down. Soon another worker came to ask her for a question and she was so rude to them and yelled at them in front of everyone. As I stated, I'm a big fan of their saddle brook panini I get every time I go along with my bf. Very simple order, 2 Saddle Brook Panninis, so simple my waitress didn't write it down. When I got the plate our order was wrong, it was a different panini. I went to look for our waitress and couldn't find her so I went to the person sweeping (the owner) she then takes away our plates and I ask her KINDLY if I could keep the fries here while I wait for them to make my panini and she said "ARE YOU GOING TO PAY EXTRA FOR THE FRIES? NO? SO THEYRE GOING IN THE TRASH". Paninis come with French fries, i simply asked if I could munch on MY fries while I waited because your staff messed up my order. By the time my new order came, I lost my appetite from how rude this employee was and packed it to go. I complained to the manager and that's when he said "that's actually the owner you spoke to". What kind of owner treats their customers and workers like that? It's disgusting. I just think everyone should be aware of it since based off other reviews it's not the first time, others have complained getting into fights with her. read more

This is one of my favorite diners personally. There are tons of diners in this area but hands down this is one of the best, its clean, the food is good and you can expect just the usual diner food which is totally cool with me. Try to avoid this place saturday and sunday morning though, its really crowded. If you have a big party it will be hard to grab a table or you will have to wait a while. BEST PLACE to hit though for drunk late-night munchies read more

Not even going to bother following my typical review format; going to make this short and sweet. This diner is like every other diner in the state. What you can get here you can get anywhere else. The review is solely based on their hamburger cookery skills. Two times I order burgers and requested medium. Both times they came to me like charcoal briquettes dry and bland on relatively large buns. This time, I even stressed MEDIUM and complained about the previous occurrence. You'd think the chefs or waitress would check the burger before it came to my table. Not even the canned condiments couldn't help elevate the taste. What's worse, the waitress came to our table to see if everything was ok; gee maybe come back after we actually take a bite of our food. After that, the waitress never returned except to give us our check. If you can't hit meat cooking temps please hang up your chefs coat. The only reason why this place doesn't get a one star rating is because some of the other food is tolerable. However, the booth side is falling apart, leaky ceilings, ripped booth upholstery, and springs up your asses. Besides that, the staff is kind of awkward and timid. I'll never return here willingly; if friends and family insist I suppose I'll go for breakfast food...... read more

We ordered the vegan wings and they put a chicken finger in the basket and i ate it. Awful. Had to spit it out. They then tried to tell me it wasn't chicken in the basket when it clearly was and didn't even offer anything outside of taking it off the bill. Outside of that huge mistake, the food was bland and awful. Breakfast quesadilla, and pierogies had no seasoning. Avoid this place at all costs. It's clear they don't care about customer especially one with dietary restrictions. I would give it zero stars if it was an option. read more

We Yelped to find a breakfast choice in the area. Although reviews seemed mixed we gave Saddle Brook Diner a shot - and it was a home run. They have limited capacity seating and so we waited about five minutes. Immediate coffee service (excellent coffee too), and quick sever attention. Food also arrived quickly and everything was perfect. I don't usually eat the hash browns with breakfast but these potatoes were so wonderful I ate every morsel. The manager stopped over to check on us and I had a genuine opportunity to praise the attentive waitress. I don't often visit this part of NJ, but I will remember this place and look forward to a future visit. read more

If you find yourself on a Friday night hungry but no idea what you want to eat? Get yourself over to SBD and you won't be disappointed. Place is always hopping and you are greeted with a smile and the service is great. A frequent spot on my repertoire. The massive menu plus daily specials will make your head spin and mouth water. And if you have a craving for something not in the menu, just ask. They go the extra mile. The only thing they never have is turkey bacon, something about the turkey bacon that they're not going to get. this Friday we stopped in - table ordered lamb chops and my made to order turkey burger, with fresh avocado sautéed onions and a fried egg. Delish! great variety, great service, plenty of parking and open 24hours. read more

Before I forget (I seem to have about a two week attention span--if that, these days!!) I want to give extreme KUDOS to this WONDERFUL, classic, something for EVERYONE diner!! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, how I miss gems like this place here in Ohiooooooooooo!! We were a group of 20+, and while I'm sure that reservations were made well in advance, I was still in AWE of how this place SPRANG into action and got us set up with two separate long tables (on a SUNDAY at about 11am!!). There was even another group there, though not as large as ours, and just about every single table in this larger than it looks place was filled as well. They're next door to a LARGE cemetery, and I'm sure they get a good bit of their business from groups of mourners/graveside visitors (like us....) so no surprise they've got the large group thing down to a science!! One waitress handled both of our tables, got us drinks (no mixups!!) and took our breakfast and/or lunch orders without a hitch!! There's always a million and one options at these diners, and every single one of them sounds better than the next... I went for a veggie wrap, thinking it wouldn't be HUGE, as I had a reasonably sized breakfast earlier and didn't want a TON of food with a potentially long ride back to NY, and the perfectly cooked, reasonably sized wrap, with a side of sweet potato fries, was a great choice. My brother got an awesome looking Mexican breakfast burrito, and I was nearly drooling over the buckwheat pancakes to my right, my sister's gyro platter, and just about every delectable option that arrived on our table... You can't go wrong (IMO) at this or any typical NY/NJ diner... Any time, any where, just about any hour of the day or night. SUPER great service, wonderful diner food, and VERY reasonably priced... I'd be a regular, IF I didn't live over 500 miles away...!! ;-) read more

Went here on a Friday night with a group of people. Food was super dry, warm (not hot) and tasteless. You're better off getting some microwaveable food at the supermarket and eating that instead. I got the Mombo Combo (potato skins, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers) and I also tried some fried calamari too but they were pretty bland and not crispy enough. The service was subpar. Took a while to get lemons for the calamari (had to ask two different servers for it) and they also forgot the dressing for the salads that people had ordered on the side. Food also didn't come out at the same time for everyone. Pretty disorganized here. I don't think I'll be coming back unless there is nothing else to eat around the area. I've been to better diners with better service. read more

Went to the Saddle Brook Diner for the first time and we had lunch. The server was very friendly and polite. I ordered the Classic Rock 1/2 lb angus beef burger cooked to medium temperature, which had bacon, romaine lettuce and tomatoes on top, crumbled blue cheese on the side and fries, which was excellent. My guests ordered the broiled seafood combo which consisted of filet, scallops, shrimp and stuffed clams. It came with a soup, he choose lentil and a side of vegetables. They also ordered the tuna fish and a chicken noodle soup. All the food was fresh and very tasty. The diner was also very neat and clean. I will definitely will be back for another great meal. read more

The spot was ok. I came here while my car was getting detailed. Service quality is really based on the waitress. We didn't get the best one as we waited 20 minutes to even order and I had to ask for a refill on coffee consistently while the other waitress was much more attentive to her customers. read more

Went back last night cause it it local and convenient for a quick bite. Was meeting my mom here. She arrived a few minutes before me. There was no wait and the place was not over crowded however they refused to seat her without her whole party present. Ok, I've heard this before and understand but it's a diner. She asked for a booth, I arrived and we got seated at a table. The 3rd star was for waiter who was friendly and quick. Mom had 'Decent' burger. I had a happy waitress (grilled cheese with bacon & tomato). More tomato and bread than cheese.. Fries were again disappointing. They weren't greasy and had a nice texture but were very bland. Sure I'll be back but way better diners in area. read more

Best Matzah Ball Soup around‼. The diners atmosphere is warm, most of the food is decent but their matzah ball soup is devine. It is more than broth, its full of meat and vegetables with tons of flavor. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I judge new diners on one of two things, Breakfast Plates and Gyros. I know diners have a million items on their menu, but every diner needs to get breakfast right and since diner owner and Greek are pretty much the same, they should have their gyro's in line. For this spot I went with a Gyro sandwich with fries and gravy (Pretty murderous combo I know). When it came I was shocked to see he gave me a pita with only meat on it and a side salad on the side w/ white sauce in a container. I mean, I've ordered gyro platters before, but that typically has meat on the side with all the fixins on the plate. This was basically just a normal salad and a pita with some meat on it. Tried to make due with it but none of it tasted right and the meat tasted a little stale like it was re-heated. If my car ever breaks down in Saddle Brook and I'm hungry I'll give breakfast a go here but for now I'd avoid. read more

Disappointing experience. We just moved in the neighborhood and stopped by for lunch, hoping it could be a regular spot. The few times I had driven by it was empty and it was once again when we finally dined in. We ordered breakfast: scrambled eggs w/ cheese, toast, hashbrowns and turkey sausage. Well, my eggs were runny, undercooked eggs turn me off like no other, and the cheese - get this - was under the scrambled eggs. Had to scrape them off the plate and onto the bit of eggs I did eat. Beyond weird. And the hashbrowns might have been the saddest of them all. Just chopped up potato, not a lick of seasoning. Just. Potato. And, if all that wasn't enough, the side toast we ordered was black. Every piece. I could barely eat any of it though I was starving. Server never returned. Beyond disappointing. I will not even give them a second chance, which is rare for me. Absolutely gross. Service was nonexistent and the service outside our server was unprofessional. read more

I been coming to this diner for years especially since their 24 hours 7 days a week. The brunch on weekends here is our ritual. Late night munchies and want to stay local this is the spot. Favorites here are French Onion soup , Pancakes, Waffles, french toast, calamari. Every now and than there's a seafood dinner special with linguine we love it. This is a family runned business and everyone here from host to servers are friendly and kind. read more

You have to give credit where credit is due because this places was great. Fast service, great customer service and great good and it's just that simple. First time customer and was impressed. For a New Jersey diner, this place is on target. A varied menu is typical of a diner, and their menu is extensive. We had breakfast and all four of us enjoyed our meals. Our choices included blintzes, veggie omelette and eggs. The service was efficient and server was attentive. Overall, a very nice experience . read more

Think this is one of the last good classic diners in the area. Prices are more than fair and your coffee cup never goes empty. Love the classic Betty boop statue too! Came in late night for a meal. These places tend to have a strange vibe after midnight. There's was a lot of flies in the restaraunt that bugged us. Other than that the food was good. French toast was good (served with packaged syrup). The burgers are what you'd expect from a diner. The drinks and shakes for above average. read more

Hospitable , personable service. Fresher than most and good diner food. Good place to go in a hurry or taking the family out.

Been coming here for years and ways enjoyed my time and food... However, recently, the last 2 times here, my boyfriend ordered well done corned beef hash. Each time the waiter argued stating he will try and that the kitchen was busy. When someone orders something on a menu and asks for it to be prepared a certain way, they're should be no issue accepting the order and cooking it as requested... Would we be told a burger couldn't be well done because it takes longer?? I am not sure if it's a management thing or just a waiter who's not sure how to communite appropriately, but frankly I don't care. It's a simple request and it was greeted with opposition. Still love the atmosphere and food here but totally unimpressed with the service. read more

They were open on Thanksgiving! Food was standard NJ diner. Omelette, pizza, nice waitress.

Excellent food, loads of choices, prices reasonable. VG service. Waitresses responsive.

I have come here several times as it is one of our local diners. Their breakfast is better than their dinner. Today, I ordered their fruit parfait. It had Greek yogurt, granola, strawberries, blueberries, honey and a cherry filling on top. The parfait was fresh and delicious. I wish they wouldn't put a cherry filling that is used for cherry pie on top though. I have had their pancakes, eggs, omelets, waffles, egg sandwiches here before as well and recommend them all. However their salads and wraps, that I've had here before, I would not recommend. They are not as fresh and flavorful as their breakfast items are. 4/5 stars for service, menu options, and taste of food. read more

Worst experience EVER... the waiter served us our food and never came back. We wanted to order coffee and dessert .. I guess the waiter had other plans. After sitting there for 20 minutes with no waiter in sight, we got up and went to the register to pay.. with no check in hand. Told management it was the worse service ever and they did not care.. Discovered this place from a Google search of best Diners in Bergen County. They are located on Essex street near the route 80 underpass. Same As Many Other Diners Food Is Passable Menu Is Boring Shame the diners of old have given way to a new breed featuring mediocre food made with sub par ingredients. Long gone is the classic diner generally Greek owned / operated with passion a commitment to freshness and great service. This diner is just more of the same "diner food" that you can find in many towns in this area. The sides seem either canned, frozen or processed and the quality of proteins is very middle of the road. Cooking techniques are designed to expedite the kitchen rather than highlighting the dish. Sauces, vegetables and starches appear pre cooked and slapped on the dish as a afterthought. Weekend breakfast is generally a mob scene with a wait and somewhat chaotic service. After being eventually seated at a two top near the restroom entrance, we patiently waited for our items to arrive and were treated very nicely by our server. She was obviously overwhelmed so I assured her we are in no hurry. My eggs, potatoes and rye toast arrived at room temperature, so I waited for my wife to finish her pancakes asked for the check leaving my breakfast behind. Might I suggest a bowl of cereal. read more

This is one of my favorite diners in the area to hit up for breakfast! For starters, I love that they serve lunch all day long. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a sandwich or wrap for breakfast, you'd be surprised how many places only serve breakfast for breakfast. I've been here several times and everything that I've tried is good, especially their paninis, wraps, ALL breakfast items. When I am in the mood for breakfast items, they have a great selection of breakfast specials. They come with these ham home fries which are so so tasty. The servers here are attentive and keep the coffee flowing. After breakfast, check out their bakery section! The large chocolate chip cookie is my favorite, but the cakes are pretty good too. read more

This place has such good food. The menu is extensive, so you are guaranteed to find something you want to try. And they don't hold back on quantity. They pile the food, which my forever-hungry self loves The prices are decent and there's a lot of booths. I does tend to get packed due to be in a residential area, but that's understandable. They are open all hours. The servers are nice. I will continue to come back. Definitely. Everyone I've brought enjoys it. Go! read more

This was once my favorite diner. The food is still very good, which is why it gets 2 stars. Takeout service is horrible. We have ordered pickup from here at least once or twice a month for the past year and a half, and they have not yet once gotten an order completely right. I have taken to unpacking the whole bag and checking each item while still at the counter, and boy do they give you attitude about that. Each time we have ordered a special, they have left out the complimentary cake, and occasionally the salad or soup as well. Every burger I have ordered has been the wrong one. Order a "Merenge" burger, with jalapenos and mushrooms, and I got an Italian burger with mozzerella and tomato sauce. . . I really think they are doing it on purpose, too, to try to stop takeout orders. The last time I started to say "Did you remember the ca--" the guy inturrupted me and was like "Oh we forgot your cake" with a smirk. Sorry, but they don't need my business. Unfortunately there just isnt a diner of comparable food quality in the area. read more

People don't yelp on this side of the country, eh? Does that mean they're less advanced? Hey - didn't come from my mouth. You know, I love my sprouts, I love my bee pollen, I love my granola and acai, but gimme some fuckin jersey greasy ass disco fries any day of the fuckin week. Seriously. You wanna call a big strong boy from Wisconsin "corn-fed", then call me "disco fry fed". It explains my cussing, my hunger for life, and yes, my hips. I try to avoid this place. It's just not a good diner, and in NNJ that's unacceptable. The food is mediocre at best. The wraps are deplorable and expensive, the burgers are OK, the pasta is slightly better than Chef Boyardee and the french fries suck. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the breakfast is actually pretty good and IMO the only thing worth going here for. There are plenty of better dinners not more than 10 minutes from here, so if you're looking for anything besides breakfast...keep driving. read more
