Cute and cozy coffee spot in downtown Edwardsville. Our meals were delicious although the kid at the counter had a little trouble working out what I needed to stay on plan. I ended up paying for food I could not eat. All I wanted was a gluten-free bagel as the bread for my avocado toast ($9), but they up-charged me to the bagel sandwich ($17) which had bacon and cheese that I cannot eat (despite telling him no meat!). My dirty chai was suspiciously sweet even tho I asked about sugar and was told there wasn't any. The food was good but if you have food sensitivities just know it may take a little patience and double checking to make sure they get your order correct. We also found it to be a bit pricey. Despite these hiccups however we would definitely go back.

Check out this broccoli and cheddar quiche - delicious!!!

Every time I visit Edwardsville, I stop by here and I try to come on a weekend to try their quiche of the day and I am not disappointed!!! So yummy in my tummy! When I first tried their quiche and it came with a yogurt I was like WHY?!?? But then I tried it and was like --YES, YES, YES!! I mean come on now...it is THE BEST yogurt I have ever in my life and I am not even kidding!!! And the art on the walls is so fun to look at, the service is quick and personable, and the hot drinks yummy!! So make sure you Stop by on a weekend to ch eco everything out!!!

Blackberry cinnamon cake & Dirty Nana - 9.16.25

Sacred is an Edwardsville institution. I popped in this morning on my way to work. I was in and out in just a few minutes, and it may be one of the best drinks I've ever had. I ordered the Dirty Nana iced, dirty chai that tastes like banana bread and a piece of the blackberry cinnamon cake. 20/10, no notes. The cake was perfect - not overly sweet and very moist (ugh, I know, but there's no better adjective). Their pastry case was filled with goodies and if I'd paid more attention, I would've picked up a box of day-old stuff too. The service was fast and friendly. The space is clean and cozy - perfect for a coffee date, studying, or meeting up with friends. Their selection of tea is also incredible and I'm anxious to try some on my next trip. Plenty of non-coffee options and for coffee lovers, it's truly some of the best in town.

I've been recently going to Sacred Grounds and I love it! The food menu is simple but made with high quality ingredients and super tasty. The coffee menu has so many options. I am loving their fall menu specials. I recently tried the pumpkin and honey latte with soy milk and it was delicious. I love the ambiance of Sacred Grounds, it's a local spot that feels super homey. Glassware is mismatched and just like you grabbed it in your home. I love the service! It gets busy on weekends but I still always find a spot!

I walked down to the coffee shop from my office a couple times a week. Always fantastic service. Excellent coffee extra flavors that are sugar-free which I appreciate versus one of the chains only has sugar-free vanilla now the variety of pastries on different days is great and honestly. Everything has been amazing.

Very nice clean and welcoming local coffee shop. They have a nice selection of coffee, sandwiches and pastries. Definitely will come back for another mocha!

Fabulous sandwiches, excellent selection of chips. Friendly and courteous staff, Wi-Fi access. Comfortable seating. The bacon avocado sandwich, on the menu as "BLAT" is what I chose; one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.

I went again for breakfast this time. (7/9/2025) I got avocado egg toast. It was amazing. The serving was enough for two! The egg toast included arugula, eggs made your way, avocado, garlic aioli, some sesame seeds, and optional meat protein (I opted out of the protein). It came with a side of yogurt and berry compote. It was served to go; as I needed to head to work. 10/10 recommend their breakfast as well!

The service was great! My barista was friendly and fast. They use a tampered machine so the latte was fantastic. I did not have any pastry's but they looked amazing. Great atmosphere, and you can bring your dog in while your order a cup

Really cute and cool coffee shop in downtown Edwardsville with easy parking. Friendly staff, good coffee & a fun variety of baked items with weekend specials. I ordered the bacon scones to go and they were excellent. I also went for the barista special latte and it was pretty good. I always get overwhelmed looking at coffee menus so having a baristas favorite sign was super helpful! Looking forward to coming back to hang out sometime - this place is definitely the vibe to chill and spend and afternoon.

Visited multiple times during a recent trip to Edwardsville. The iced chai was delicious. Iced dirty chai was also delicious. Really friendly staff, and an overall nice vibe. Glad I stopped in!

I went here with my "coffee group" girls (4 of us) on a Sunday morning a couple of weeks ago. First glance, it was a cool spot with a good vibe and some local art (which I'm a sucker for). We went up to order at the counter. I got an everything bagel sandwich and a latte. The latte was pretty average- not crazy good or bad. The sandwich was excellent. I didn't think it was too crowded, we went in and got a table right away. But our service was exceptionally slow. I was trying to remain positive because this wasn't my choice, but all of us were looking around waiting for our food and trying to decide if we should go up and look for it or not. We all got different things, and they all came out at different times, so we didn't really eat together. Even our drinks took a while to come out which is odd for a coffee spot. Overall, the food was enjoyed by all and the coffee was good, but I would probably not return on my own due to the service experience.

Cafe Birdie - Lemon tart with iced London Fog

I had the gluten free lemon lavender donut & a vanilla latte - both were great! My husband had a scone he enjoyed & lemonade that was very freshly squeezed. Service was prompt and friendly - you order up at the counter. Pro tip: definitely check their hours before you go--and honestly, just plan your day around it because it's that good. I was expecting your typical little coffee-and-sandwich spot, but it completely exceeded my expectations. They have a couple of parking spaces behind the building, and if those are full, there's a free lot about 500 feet down the road. It was pretty busy at lunchtime. You order at the counter, and they bring everything to your table. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating in various sizes, and the decor is adorable. I especially loved the maps--they make great conversation starters. I noticed several tables pointing out places they'd visited and swapping travel stories. The menu has a nice variety. I ordered the chicken salad on ciabatta with a side salad. The chicken salad had a strong dill flavor that I really enjoyed, and the ciabatta was perfectly fresh--not too tough. Next time, I'll probably pick a different side since the salad was basically just lettuce. If there was any dressing, it was super light, so I ended up adding some of the lettuce into my sandwich. The surprise standout, though, was the lavender lemonade--a total sleeper hit. It was scorching hot that day, and I wanted something refreshing, so I ordered it on a whim. Honestly, it was the best lemonade I've ever had. I don't usually find myself making a special trip to a café just for lemonade, but here I am. I'm not sure if it's seasonal, but I really hope it sticks around.

My visit was on a Monday, so it was a great way to kickstart a new week. Once I glanced over their pastry case, I knew exactly what I wanted. I'm a fan of scones and blueberry-lemon is a favorite flavor and they just happened to have one in their case. As my caffeinated beverage, I choose a vanilla and honey latte iced. The scone was top-notch. I was impressed by the number of blueberries that filled my scone. I also enjoyed the tangy flavor the lemon gave it. Blueberry & Lemon, in my opinion is a perfect combination. The texture of the scone was right in the middle of moist and dry, which gets a two thumbs up from me. My iced latte was a great way to start my Monday and new week. The vanilla flavor with the blend of honey, went well with my scone. I enjoyed that they used whole milk in the preparation, it adds a richness to the latte. The cashier who took my order was super friendly and made giving and taking of an order a fun experience. Having been a barista, I liked the professionalism of the young lady who made mine. The tone of voice from a supervisor, is what kept them from getting 5 Stars. I'm in E-ville a lot, so I know I will be back and when I return, hopefully they'll get that 5th star.
