Taro milk tea with boba is one of my all time favorite treats. Tastea has a decent Taro tea, but it's not my favorite. I think their star is probably the brown sugar tea. The atmosphere of the shop is warm and inviting, unfortunately there aren't many places to sit and the one counter they have stools at is super wobbly, so it's not necessarily a place to stop and sit. Regardless, the shop is cute and the staff do a great job. It's a good local option if you're really craving boba. read more

I love that Edwardsville finally has a bubble that place! Tastea has a great selection of what seems to be pretty authentic boba tea. They had a big flavor selection. It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for! What I ordered: I got the pineapple tea and added popping boba to it and the brown sugar boba tea. I preferred the brown sugar, but that's because it's a traditional milk tea and that's my preference. The boba was prepared perfectly! That's one thing a lot of places get wrong. The service was a little slow, but they are still new, so we should cut them some slack:) Overall it's a cute establishment that serves some seriously yummy drinks! read more

The service is atrocious, seriously. The two guys in the shop yesterday were clueless and it took 10 mins for a pineapple tea.. there were only two other people in the place. Way overpriced, no boba was added even after asking. Sorry, but this is not a good start for this boba lover. read more

Tastea seems like a nice, hipster type scene. The drinks list is decent and our drinks were for sure made with fresh ingredients. The wait time is longer than I'd care for but with fresh fruits/ingredients you can't complain. I tried one of the strawberry yogurt drinks and while it tasted exactly like the description, it did not hit the spot for me like other boba tea shops. Yogurt drinks are always a bit tangy, but sweet - Tastea was more tangy and less sweet (so less to my liking). The Greek yogurt flavor was a bit over powering. My experience was great here, they didn't have what I would normally get so I tried something new after getting some suggestions from who was working. It is very small and cozy. It was my first time trying this place and the worker was very helpful with telling me what drink is what. The menu has a huge selection. Very retro with a cool atmosphere. There is a small high top bar with two stools. I'm not sure if there was a restroom. My only wish is that there could be a short description in the menu so I could better understand the drink or what it would taste like at least. When this place is good, it's great. However, they have issues with consistency. The good: *Good selection of drinks (check out the fruit drinks) * The ambiance is nice, if small. * The drinks are delicious when made right. * You definitely want to try the cheese foam, it is exceptionally good. Now for the not so great: * First of all, expect a long wait. Not so much a negative as something to be aware of. *They are also constantly running out of tapioca boba, so if you're really craving it beware they might not have it. I've been there three different times when they've not had it, and twice when I asked for extra boba in my drink and was told I couldn't because they were running low. For a boba tea shop, it seems odd that they are constantly running out of the main star of the show. * Their pricing seems..unfair. I'm used to paying a lot for boba, but I've had some weird issues with their pricing. For instance, last time they were out of boba, they offered to give me crystal boba instead, but were upcharging me for it. The person checking me out started they had to charge me, even though there's already a charge for boba built in to the drink, which I wasn't able to get. Another time, they forgot to charge me for extra boba, and when they checked me out, it was $0.50 for the boba, and I was charged $1.50, which the person charging me stated was the cost of tax. It seems unlikely that tax was double what the thing costs. * The quality just isn't constantly great. It's great at times, and other times just not very tasty at all. We've had undercooked boba, and oddly flavorless drinks, and I've had some of the best boba around. At the end of it all, there's scarce few options in the area for boba tea at all around here, and even though there's issues with this place, I keep coming back. It's been worth risking the issues with quality for the chance of great boba. They just need to work on a few issues to be truly great read more

My experience at Tastea this afternoon was one of the worst small business experiences I've had. After my sister asked Claire for a suggestion, and paying over $7 for the drink, she got it and didn't like the taste at all. We asked if she could possibly try a different drink and Claire explained that she wouldn't make a new drink for her. This was incredibly disappointing, as most small businesses, or any business, will do anything to make sure the customer comes back. Unfortunately I left upset and won't be returning. read more

Very disappointed in the service here. I spent $7 on a drink that the employee had said sounded like the drink I wanted but it tasted far from what I usually get. I asked if I could return it and get something else and Clair said no and that she would make me pay for another drink... and said "this is the way a small business works." My son is very happy there is a boba joint in town. He loves his boba! The inside is very nicely done. Orders take a bit of time, but there is usually only one peep working so... My son deems it the best Taro boba he has EVER had. read more

First off, let me start by saying that I'm an avid tea drinker and I have had tea in every big city that I've been to--which is a lot. Currently, I live in E-ville and Chicago, and on the price spectrum, Tastea is at the top. They might not have the largest selection of boba tea nor the best tea, but one thing they do well is the Fruit teas and Salted Cheese teas. However, the service and wait time are poor. I usually stop out on my lunch break or at the end of the work day to grab a tea, and the most I've waited is 30 minutes, and I'm usually ordering 1-2 cups of tea. My average wait time is around 15 mins here. Some times they are out of many menu items and I have received horrible tea with undercooked boba. This is absolutely unacceptable. They really need to work on the wait time and customer service. And in the time of COVID-19, I've also seen staff not wearing masks, which is a big no-no. It's small and quaint with an industrial chic decor, but not nearly enough space for social distancing with more than 3 customers. In the realm of E-ville, there's not a lot of choices for tea. I would suggest trying this place to have the new experience, and if you are in a hurry, it's better to go to Starbucks for carry out or the Thai place for a nice flavorful bubble tea, and then there's the option to make your tea at home...which won't take nearly as long. read more

Wouldn't allow us in because we didn't have masks, even though we are all vaccinated. Walked in and everyone just stared at us - very rude and annoying since I have very bad social anxiety. Was looking forward to getting tea with my 2 daughters here. Sign on door says "masks mandatory even if you have been vaccinated!" We have vaccines and no masks since it's not required if vaccinated! My masks are in my car that I just dropped off to get serviced so couldn't get them. So we took our business somewhere else! Very disappointed they discriminate against vaccinated people! Me and my wife found Tastea about 3 weeks ago and have gone a handful of times already. We've never hade boba before this place so we were excited to try it and it was fantastic. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. We would def recommend it! read more

I'm a huge boba fan and have tried well over 25 different boba shops, and this one is easily in the top 3. I drive out of my way to go here whenever I'm in the area. Their tea is very fresh and of high quality. They can adjust the sugar and ice level depending on your preference. read more
