Cute hangout, others had laptops open. Street parking. Staff is friendly. The red velvet cupcake with cream cheese filling was the winner. It wasn't too sweet. Fluffy. It was good. The bbq chicken pizza was solid. Liked the corn and beans. Good flavor. The quiche was a pass. The iced tea had some fruity component.

First time here and it's such a nice spot. The inside is very "college town" but the clientele is varied. Suited businessmen, students, retirees, and everyone in between are visible here. The coffee is supplied by Plaid coffee and definitely seems to be of better quality. Forgoing my usual pour over I enjoyed a vanilla latte that hit the spot. I was hoping to try some of the baked goods but it seems like early afternoon is way too late because the sweet treats case is barren, which is a good sign. Instead I opted for a burrito which was simple and to the point the potatoes were slightly too raw but otherwise it was a great savory meal. Food is ordered at the counter and brought to your table or the bar in my case. Everything was prompt and hot. From here I can see many individual items for sale to-go, like tea and bread. There are also cubbies with other food items along with shirts and brewing accessories. Everything compliments each other. I can't say I'll be coming up here anytime soon, just because its out of the way for me. But next time I'm in Edwardsville I will definitely make the effort to stop by, hopefully earlier to get something sweet.

Definitely recommend this business. Selfishly, they have great food, service, and prices. Selflessly ;) they really contribute to the growth of the local community and as a great part of the town. It feels good to contribute to both!

Cozy lovely spot for lunch. Good variety on the menu and some yummy options. I was happy with my chicken salad which is in line with the vibes of this bakery. Can't wait to come back to try more!

Visiting from out of town and SO GLAD we came here. There's lots of seating, outlets to use if you want to sit and work, and all the food is delicious. Staff is super nice. Also the owners are Scottish by heritage, so their coffee brand is called Plaid, and there's a photo of "the Harry Potter train" on the wall which is in Scotland.

Great food, check. Great service, check. Wonderful environment, double check. My husband really likes the Plaid Coffe, which I believe they roast themselves, and I really like their iced tea, which has free refills. I often have their breakfast burritos or their lunch sandwiches, but today I came in for a coffee and a snack. I had the strawberry jam shortbread, which consists of a heart-outline shortbread cookie on top of a solid-heart shortbread cookie and a thin layer of strawberry jam. It was delightful. I also brought a loaf of cranberry walnut bread home we with me. (Two slices were gone before I got home.) I had a flavored latte, too, but I mixed feelings about that. I've had their lattes before, though it has been awhile, and they were always great. Today it had a funny taste--maybr old burnt milk in their steamer? I don't really know, but that was disappointing. Still, may have been a just-today fluke. I would still recommend them, and I'll still go again! It's a great place to work for a couple of hours when I need to get away from the office--plenty of tables with outlets!

Work, drink coffee, repeat. A great coffee shop lets you do those things and accessibility to an outlet to keep those things charged. The coffees had great options and the food came out fast and good.

A great find in Edwardsville downtown! If you're wanting a fresh cup of joe for the morning or some artisan bread to go along with your soup and salad for lunch, then head on down to 222 Artisan Bakery! They make their bread and pastries fresh everyday. Also they roast their own coffee. I bought a multigrain loaf and brought it back home. I sliced and toasted it. Then lightly buttered. And wow, this was probably the best multigrain I've ever had. They also claim they have the best cinnamon rolls, so I had to try one. Sure enough, they were right. I took a bite and it was savory, flaky, and just the right amount of sweetness. If I lived in Edwardsville, I would be a regular for sure! They make different types of bread for each day, so make sure you check their website and see what's available. I'll be back again if I'm in the area!

I've had the pleasure of taking two bread making classes here, both taught by the owner, Trevor. He is that rare instructor that easily communicates his passion and depth of knowledge while keeping the atmosphere relaxed, comfortable and fun. He's not only a great teacher, he's also a great baker - the bread, sandwiches, cinnamon rolls etc are all phenomenal. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming with a great music selection.

Delicious breakfast burrito at this cute little bakery/cafe! The chorizo/chihuahua cheese/scrambled egg burrito was perfectly grilled and super savory! I also tried the bread pudding with cream cheese icing and that didn't do it for me. I think I'm just used to bread pudding being warm and this was refrigerated. But, I'll be back to try some of the other pastries! Only complaint was the restroom needed some cleaning and attention.

Excellent location, really good treat and really good coffee! Promptly served...a true gem here in downtown Edwardsville. Very quick service and very courteous staff...wonder place to hang and chill on a Saturday morning!

Cozy cafe with bread & pastries made in-house, plus tons of different coffee drinks, sandwiches, soup, beer, & wine. Sell their freshly made bread daily on a shelf by the counter I came for breakfast and got a black bean burrito and a late. Neither was great

The girls weren't thrilled about eating pizza, but boy, did they change their minds! We started with the pretzel rolls and the goat cheese and pita chips for starters. So so so good! The, we ordered three different pizzas and a calzone. The bourbon and chicken pizza, the potato pizza, and the spicy pepperoni, sausage and bacon pizza, as well as a bacon and tomato calzone. Absolutely delicious! Everybody had pieces of each pizza, and everyone was sated and, frankly, STUFFED! My granddaughters, ages 11 and 14, who can't agree on ANYTHING, told me that whenever they come to visit, I have to take them to Peel! When I saw they had hot honey and pepperoni paired together on a 8" pizza, I instantly knew that was one of my choices. The fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheeses paired with the hot honey and pepperoni exploded with flavor. My only disappointment was the inner crust. The outer rim crust was very crispy, but the inner was soft and limp due to the excessive grease from the flavorful pepperoni. I guess that is something I just need to deal with for a tasty lunch pizza. My other choice was, the Apple Gorgonzola Salad. Wow. Double Wow! This has to be the best salad I have ever had. It was a delightful mix of, spinach, granny smith apple, gorgonzola, sun-dried cranberries, candied pecans, all topped with a delicious maple cider vinaigrette. I will be back for the large version and a glass of Pino Grigio as a dinner. As my usual, I sat at the bar. My adult beverage of choice, was a Peel Summer Lager. I may be going back to fill my growler, for the upcoming holiday weekend. The restaurant has a contemporary feel, but the acoustics make it a loud environment. I didn't mind the laughter and loud conversations, it was the yelling and crying toddlers that made me cringe. Service was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed watching the bartenders use their mixologist skills preparing all the cocktails. It pleased me to see they offer "hooks under the bar". That's a small detail that makes me smile.

Pro tip: definitely check their hours before you go--and honestly, just plan your day around it because it's that good. I was expecting your typical little coffee-and-sandwich spot, but it completely exceeded my expectations. They have a couple of parking spaces behind the building, and if those are full, there's a free lot about 500 feet down the road. It was pretty busy at lunchtime. You order at the counter, and they bring everything to your table. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating in various sizes, and the decor is adorable. I especially loved the maps--they make great conversation starters. I noticed several tables pointing out places they'd visited and swapping travel stories. The menu has a nice variety. I ordered the chicken salad on ciabatta with a side salad. The chicken salad had a strong dill flavor that I really enjoyed, and the ciabatta was perfectly fresh--not too tough. Next time, I'll probably pick a different side since the salad was basically just lettuce. If there was any dressing, it was super light, so I ended up adding some of the lettuce into my sandwich. The surprise standout, though, was the lavender lemonade--a total sleeper hit. It was scorching hot that day, and I wanted something refreshing, so I ordered it on a whim. Honestly, it was the best lemonade I've ever had. I don't usually find myself making a special trip to a café just for lemonade, but here I am. I'm not sure if it's seasonal, but I really hope it sticks around.
