MUST READ: Starbuck's CARES about YOU! I unfortunately was in accident out front of this store and after the reports were taken and the cars towed away, I entered to store to try and get warm and truthfully process all that had happened just a few minutes earlier while I waited for my wife to pick me up. A cup a coffee, I thought, would be really nice so I went to order my usual... As per normal, the employees asked how I was doing and I shared that I had just experienced an accident and was waiting for my wife to come get me. They were generous enough to listen and offer their support as I explained the situation. To top it off, they offered the coffee on the house. Yes, maybe just a free cup of coffee but man it meant more than a 20oz caffeine boost to me. Thank you to everyone in the store who were so generous and if you've lasted long enough to read this review, I hope you'll consider Starbucks for your next coffee craving..

Thanks for the half piece of turkey bacon, yo.

Photos and videos of the property are not allowed, in violation of the 1st Amendment. And the coffee is overpriced.

My recent visit was to take part of Javapalooza being sponsored by Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau. When it's warm outside, I enjoy my coffee iced. My go to is, Vanilla Honey Latte with whole milk. If you're having a latte, why not go whole hog and enjoy that whole milk. The rich fullness of whole milk, adds to the flavor. Looking at their pastry case, it was hard for me to choose. However, once my eyes saw the Pizza Scone, I wanted a savory treat over a sweet. The scone was full of flavor, but a little on the dry side. After a couple bites, the dryness did not bother me, because the flavor was so good. I'll admit, I'm not much of a coffee guy, no matter how many times I've tried, but I'm always in for a good pastry and conversation. My wife and our friends, on the other hand, are big coffee people and had nothing but great things to say about what they ordered. The place was definitely busy, but it never felt overwhelming. The seating is set up really well, it still felt comfortable and somewhat private, even with a lot of people there meeting and chatting. I went with a blueberry scone and it was honestly excellent. Definitely worth it. Parking is a bit limited at this location, but it seems to flow just fine. There are plenty of options on the menu, and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more. They have bar stool style seating or if you have a bigger group there's tables and chairs. The banana nut bread was good and fresh. I went with a drink item off their winter menu. It's their blood orange expresso. The vibes are very mod to retro like. Prices range from $3.50-7 on drinks. They offer hot foods as well. It was nice little pop in for a nasty weather day we had this morning. With the rain and cold.

However, the people of Edwardsville still love Teaspoons, because it was packed. Things that disappointed me on my last visit that made me decide to take a star away: They are now serving Kaldi's Coffee a STL roaster. I think it is a shame that they are not supporting one of the many local roasters on the Illinois side of the river. Was disappointed that their iced coffee lids were not sip lids. I prefer them, because I am not a fan of straws. I know some people need or prefer straws, but I like the option of not using one. Save the Turtles. Biggest disappointment was my food. I ordered the Breakfast Platter. My scrambled eggs were fluffy and hot and made fresh. They were very good. The English Muffin was also good. It was obvious it was freshly toasted, because the whipped butter spread and melted easily. The disappointments were the bacon and potatoes. Both were cold and tough. It was obvious that both sides were prepared ahead of time. The bacon did have good flavor, but it was chewy and rubbery. My potatoes were on the burnt side of preparation and cold and chewy like the bacon. Damn, when I've ordered this before it was good, not this time. I will at least say, the service and customer service is still good and consistent with what I've had before. Which actually saved them from getting two stars.

The ceasar salad is great. Big fan of the teaspoon pesto sandwich. My partner raves about the chicken croissant and always gets a side salad with olive oil. The workers are nice. Making it a great place to stop by when paying your property taxes, or when you're doing your jury duty. I'm glad to see that they are a proud server of Plaid Coffee. So many other shops use the same local roaster or one from St. Louis, so it is nice to see that they give us a Scottish touch roasted in small batches. I enjoyed an iced coffee. When I drink hot coffee, I drink it black. However, when it is iced, I need a little packet of Splenda and a splash of milk. To accompany my iced coffee, I enjoyed a Mini Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread. I was torn between a blueberry danish, blueberry muffin and the mini bread. When I asked the cashier for guidance, he recommended the pumpkin bread because it was a seasonal special. He said, the other two were always available and could enjoy them on another visit. To be honest, the mini Pumpkin Bread with Chocolate Chips did not impress me. I found it to be dry and the pumpkin flavor was faint, but it was chuck full of chocolate chips. Next time I'm at the courthouse paying the next installment of property taxes, I'll stop by again and try one of the blueberry treats. I think I may even grab one of the loaves of bread they had on sale.
