Great place. Came on a Saturday and it was popping with a little farmers market outside. The line wasn't too bad and the lady that helped me was super friendly and explained all of their cold brew options. I got a cold brew with some flavor added and a brownie. Both were delicious. They seemed to have a lot of yummy baked goods options and food options. They also had great drinks to pick from. I loved how the cold brew was on tap. It felt very modern and it tasted great. The inside had a lot of seating and when you dine in they have cute glasses and plates for everything. We sat at the bar. Also had nice bathrooms. read more

Quick review for great, spankin hot coffee! This place shares a renovated train depot with Clara Bs kitchen. Coffee is strong and so hot, I nearly burned my hand when adding cream. First time here. I really, really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but I couldn't let so many things slide. As others have pointed out, the line situation is a mess. It's a peculiar layout in an old building with two opposing ordering stations and entrances. That is not a bad thing but it creates a messy, chaotic situation that should be addressed. Nobody knew where any line was going for either business. I had seven different interactions with different customers to clear up who was in line. Saying "We asked customers and they're gonna do what they're do" doesn't cut it. Figure something out. You could move the first tables back just a little and add well placed stanchions with a sign on top saying this line here, that line here. It shouldn't be the customers job to manage this. Second, I waited way, way too long for my coffee. Several groups of people behind me ordered and received complicated espresso drinks while I waited for one pour over. An entire rush of people passed between ordering my coffee and receiving it. Your pour-over machine is automated, very simple to use. The barista simply neglected to start my coffee when they were supposed to. Third, I received the wrong food. I ordered the loaded breakfast burrito but I got the bbq breakfast burrito. I know Clara B's is a separate business, but for the customer it's one experience. Here's the kicker, the food and the coffee were delicious. The ambiance is warm and inviting. I even bought coffee beans before I left. I've been looking forward to trying this place for awhile. There are so many you're doing well. I don't want to be sour grapes but I nearly walked out because execution was incredibly clumsy. You're so close to doing so much better, please figure it out. I want to keep coming here and other people do too. read more

Good for an early morning latte, won't make it into our rotation for brunch. 1. Get there early for seating on the weekends, as space is extremely limited. The line for the register tends to pass through the middle of the seating area, so we had people standing over us as we are nearly the entire time we were eating. 2. Coffee was good, but there's no good way to get a refill of the drip coffee during peak times. A latte may be a better way to go. I did appreciate that they had a self service water station along side their cream and sugar station. 3. We didn't try the pastries aFood from Clara Bs was also good, but at this price point I will go somewhere else for breakfast/ brunch in the future-- we were $55 after tax on breakfast for two having ordered two drip coffees, that we couldn't readily get refills on without a 20 minute wait at the counter, and two entrees that we had to order and wait for at the food truck ( but not both of us because we would have lost the indoor table real estate on an exceptionally cold and blustery March morning), and then had people hovering over us standing in line waiting to order their food while we ate our food. read more

I think this is my new favorite coffee shop in Belleville. The shop has plenty of seating and the outdoor area is pretty cute. I love their tea! We've had their iced white mocha, iced matcha with oatmilk and my latest favorite their hot chai with lavender. My last chai was amazing and only 5$. This place is kinda heaven if you wanna study, meet a friend or even a cute solo date. Check them out! I think they even serve breakfast which I have yet to try. read more

This place is so cute! I love everything from the parking, to the inside, to the menu. I got the cafe au last, which is served with your selection of pour over. I'm a pour over fan so I really appreciated this. Really wonderful ambiance, I wish I brought my work laptop. Bonus points that there's a separate kitchen, with brunch cocktails, in the same space. Longstory short, get the Peppermint Latte. Peppermint appears to be a staple menu item if you're like me and have to wait a whole year for seasonal flavors at other coffee shops. The turn to get into this place is very sharp and narrow. It's a gravely rock lot like train track yard. Maybe it used to be a train station stop? I'm not from the area so I was worried about getting a flat. Anyways, the entrance is off to the side and confusing because it seems to be the location of Clara Bs as well. What's funny is that's where I wanted to go yesterday but my friend wanted BBQ. So maybe another time. Anyways, once inside it's spacious and gives off train station waiting area vibes with a hipster touch. There is plenty of space to not be on top of other humans like most coffee shops. When I was trying to ask if the to-go cup would have latte art, I don't think the barista understood my question at first so I had to ask again and opted for dining in so I could take this picture. The one way entrance is near the railroad tracks and is a bricked roadway. Parking is along both sides of the building as well as a larger lot at the rear. There is a handicapped ramp along the entrance side of the building although I did not notice specific handicapped parking spaces. Everything is paved so handicapped access is reasonable. The entrance door is in the middle of the building, with the main counter to the right of the door. We did a quick survey of the menu and were greeted as we walked to the counter. My partner is not a coffee drinker (go figure), so the barista was a great help in selecting a non-coffee hot drink to sip on a cold day. The cortado is not common on coffee menus and Longstory's is as good as any I have tried. It came in a small 4oz cup. If you know what a cortado is, seeing the small cup would not be a surprise. My partner's vanilla steamed milk was just the ticket on a blustery day, with enough vanilla flavor to make the drink special. Inside there is plenty of seating, with the typical coffee shop comfy chairs and tables, along with seats looking out the windows. The overall ambiance is relaxed, and the old train station structure compliments the feel. One added bonus is the bathrooms are large and include a changing station. I also noticed there were diapers available on the table along with wipes, which is a thoughtful and much appreciated touch. I know I would be a regular if I lived in the area. read more

I'm a huge fan of Long Story Coffee! They are located in the old train station. It used to be Balance coffee and tea, but they closed down and long story has taken it over! Clara B's sells food in the kitchen area of the space. If you want coffee, you order from the coffee bar, and if you want food you can order from Clara B's. Long Story does sell some pastry items. I had a cupcake and a mini pecan pie and neither were very good. You can get a flight of if their nitro cold brew coffees and teas. I was pleasantly surprised at how good these were! I don't normally like plain cold brew coffee but their nitro brews were so good! They sell their nitro brews in cans to go, and I usually purchase one when I go. read more

They were doing a puppy chow mocha. $1 of my purchase went to another good local place called Belleville Animal Humane Society!! Granted their prices run high, but what coffee house isn't ? The service is rocking! They are busting their fannies and making sure their guests are well taken care of! The owner is very supportive of other small businesses as well. I've visited this coffee shop multiple times in the past, and I visited again today! Overall, I think this coffee shop is a great addition to the Belleville community. As someone who grew up in Belleville but spends most of my time in St. Louis, I love to see that Belleville has a small business coffee shop like this one. I was sad to see Balance Coffee leave, but Longstory seamlessly took over in its place! The interior of Longstory is super cute and trendy. Although it can get a little noisy at times, I could see myself getting some work done here sometime. I always order an iced lavender latte. While it's not always the strongest coffee, it's still pretty good and reasonably priced. The coffee is definitely better quality than any nearby coffee chain. Their milk options include whole milk, almond milk, and oat milk. My mom ordered one of their seasonal drinks, a Shamrock Mocha. They advertise that it has mint in it, but we couldn't really taste any mint at all. Still delicious nevertheless! Employees are always very friendly and efficient. I've always had very good service here! I would totally recommend choosing Longstory over a big chain coffee shop any day! read more

Before Longstory existed, Balance Coffee was a simple retrofit of an old train station that gave Belleville its first taste of a quality coffee shop. When it closed, it felt like a void could not be filled by any of the other shops in the area. They all had coffee, but they were not on the same level. The plan was for someone new to take over, and while not a smooth transition, Longstory was eventually established in the same space as the previous tenant. But that is where the similarities end. Longstory was a complete overhaul of the inside space to allow for all the usable space to be not only accessible but inviting. The copious space that was present before was filled with tables and couches, creating meeting areas out of nothing. There was also a new coffee bar setup, catering to the laptop crowd needing outlets or single visitors not wanting to take up an entire table. The coffee choice started simple, but the longer you were around, the more ambition you could sense. Erik, the owner, started a barrel-aged coffee program that produced something unique that I have yet to see anywhere else in the area. From here came new exotic coffee strains for those who want a purist coffee experience. But that was coupled with a new weekly latte flavor that dropped every Saturday. These syrupy delights hit all the right notes for those who need a sweet experience. Flavor profiles such as Gas station coffee (Vanilla, Chocolate, & Hazelnut) and chocolate-covered strawberries were interspersed between candy bar-inspired drinks (Snickers and Butterfinger lattes). In addition to all of this, several taps on the wall deliver nitro coffee that is like a naturally creamy cold brew. Food options started as the usual cafe fare, like muffins, scones, and an occasional quiche, but then renovation began on a new addition to the business, Clara B's. While a separate entity worthy of its review, it offered Longstory a real food option to bring in the breakfast and lunch crowd. Since this addition, both businesses have grown exponentially, with Clara B's transformation from just a weekend offering to now six days a week. Meanwhile, Longstory has added options to their menu, including limited alcohol. While the coffee is the show's star, the staff is excellent. Each barista brings their flare to the shift. Some come to this place with experience, while others are new to the coffee world, but the faults are few and far between. I know when we are there, the service will be above and beyond, whether excellent service or banter with the customers, many of whom are regulars. It's not the only place to get coffee on the Illinois side of the river, but it certainly is the best. I look forward to seeing what innovations Erik and his team develop in the coming years. read more

What a pleasant surprise! My daughter, asked me if I ever been and I said no. The next day with temperatures below zero and my wife out of town, I decided to drive over and check it out. The first thing I noticed was the atmospher. It was warm, welcoming and charming. The second was the friendly staff at the barista station and Clara's kitchen. The sandwich from Clara's was the largest breakfast sand I ever had and it was delicious. I didn't order a fancy coffee, just a medium-blend black coffee and it was up to the task for giving me a morning jolt. They also have free refills, which I took advantage of. I was so impressed that I immediately invited my daughter's family and my wife for a brunch. I will be a regular customer and Belleville is fortunate to have this fine coffee shop. read more

BEST COFFEE SHOP, in Belleville. The Owner, Erik, is so passionate about bringing Belleville the coffee shop it deserves --and he's definitely delivered. In terms of the coffee, the drinks are made from machines that equally and consistently measure out correct temperatures, amounts, and flavors. The staff are absolutely wonderful! Very patient, kind, and always up for making some creative drink. The environment is very chill. There is a bar that you can sit at, and talk to the baristas. Otherwise, it's basically like a huge open room with the same general seating. (The whole place was renovated completely btw --which is amazing!) This place was amazing! The service, ambience, coffee, and food were all fantastic. The coffee and chai tea late were so so good! You can 100% taste the quality of the coffee!! Also we ordered food from Clara B's. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito - SO GOOD! If you're a chorizo fan this is perfect, it's not sweet (in case you've found that some places have sweet and some have more savory chorizo). My wife had the potato quiche and it was also fantastic.
