Stopped by on a nice Saturday afternoon. During covid, the cafe has turned more into a window where you can place and pick up your order while remaining outside.
I had come by when the place first opened and found everyone super nice and welcoming. It is quite small inside so not that big a loss with covid removing the indoors option. At that time, they only had coffee, pastries, and cakes. Now they also offer a few savory lunch options such as spinach quiche, a few different types of quesadillas, and a black bean burger.
I had heard good things about the quiche but they had already run out (at about 1pm) so we ordered a quesadilla and black bean burger along with some apple turnovers.
PROS: Really yummy! Although the black bean burger was more like a black bean sandwich (not in a burger bun but French bread?), it was probably one of the top 5 veggie burgers I've ever had. Didn't taste like a frozen pattie just heated up, and there was some delish sauce along with fresh veggies to perk things up. Didn't taste the quesadilla but it smelled and looked really good. For $7 each, that's a steal in this city! The apple turnovers ($3.50 each) were also very tasty--fluffy pastry and soft sweet apple inside (we reheated then in the toaster oven at home).
CONS: Wait time. We waited maybe 10 min for the entrees to come out, though I guess this means it's really fresh! Might suggest putting your order in before running an errand and then coming back to pick it up.
Overall, I'd definitely come back again, maybe plan for the wait next time. I still wanna try that quiche! read more
