I had heard nothing but good things about this restaurant. So when my husband and I decided to go out tonight, we picked Sabor. The food was good, but there was one staff member that caught my husband's eye for what she was doing. We watched while we waited for our food, and saw her handling the garbage can and then going back to handle food without washing her hands. We were very glad we didn't order seafood tonight. Went to Sabor as my hubbys company was having a business dinner in the private room. Although I was dining alone I didn't feel uncomfortable at all! The staff were all every friendly and is quite exceptional. The food was great! The Piri Piri Prawns were perfect. I am not a sauce person but it really complimented the shrimp. For the entree I had the beef tenderloin cooked perfectly, it melted in my mouth! The potatoes were awesome! Dessert was great too! I had the cheesecake and the chocolate cayenne mousse, the cheesecake is the best I ever had. Definitely will be back again and will recommend to all my friends! read more

Recently celebrated our 20th anniversary at Sabor and it was a memorable evening thanks in large part to the menu, service and atmosphere of this amazing establishment. I'm not certain there is an area on the menu that couldn't satisfy or completely impress virtually anyone. We had a variety of Tapas and a couple of main courses. Followed by an amazing cheesecake dessert and a fantastic cappuccino to complete a fantastic meal and a great experience (the 'live' Flamenco guitar pretty much made things perfect). The service both wait-staff and bar-staff were prompt, friendly, professional and warm. If you haven't? You should. It is literally the best of everything. read more

We often come to Sabor for group lunches for work. Yesterday's lunch was to celebrate a colleagues birthday. I like Sabor Divino for a few reasons- the food is delicious, they always have a nice selection of lunchtime specials which are of great value, and the service is fairly quick for a restaurant of it's quality. The menu has a variety of offerings including salads, paninis, pastas and risottos, as well as other main courses. I usually stick with the panini since I don't like to have too much for lunch, but I've been tempted to try the piri piri chicken on more than one occasion. I'll have to return for dinner sometime. The waitress we had yesterday was very professional, but perhaps a little bit busy. It took her a while to get the ketchup that I requested, and then she spent time distributing dessert menus without asking if we were actually staying for dessert- we were in a bit of a time crunch and needed to get back to the office! It also took a while for our bill to come, and we were told that she couldn't separate the order by seats to let us know how much we each owed. She didn't seem too happy to even hear the request. You would think that a restaurant located amongst many office towers would have the capability to provide separate totals since there are group lunches happening on a daily basis! A nice surprise was the fact that the restaurant sent out some birthday cheesecake for our friend who was celebrating her birthday. It was a generous portion, and it was a really nice gesture! I'll definitely return to Sabor Divino, I find that the quality of food is excellent, the atmosphere is really enjoyable, and you always leave feeling satisfied! read more

Great service and great food... I love the atmosphere of this restaurant.. We ordered charcuterie plate $24 and it was well worth every dollar it had a great assortment of cheese, olives and meats(smoked duck so delicious) along with a baguette loaf. Also ordered three boars and Chilean Seabass for our entree. Three boars was delicious it include three different types of pork with a yummy potato au gratin. The Chilean seabass was okay a little dry but the lobster risotto that accompanied it was excellent. Also tried bite size cherry cheesecake and it was delicious nice and light... Went there for dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant was busy but had a reservation and table was ready on arrival. The server was amazing. The food was delicious. We tried the family style at Sabor which includes the 3 course meal. We got fresh mussels with saffron cream and grilled piri piri prawns and they were delicious. For the main course we got salmon and sea-bass cooked perfectly and to top it off the desert included chocolate moose, cheesecake and leite créme. Tip: make a reservation. read more

Came here with my girlfriend on our special day and was completely blown away by the food and the service. To begin, the decor was nice and ambient and there was also a live piano performance going on as we dined. To start we had the muscle and octopus salad which was absolutely delicious. I had the black cod and lobster risotto and my girlfriend had the three boars which were amazing dishes. The risotto was perfectly cooked and the proteins were cooked to perfection. Our service was spot on as she recommended and explained the dishes very well. For dessert we had the triple chocolate slab which ended the evening on a high note. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice and relaxing evening out with some amazing food! read more

I have ate at Sabor twice now. The first time was with a party of 4, the second with a party of 15 (surprised birthday party). For the surprise party, our server, Jen, was phenomenal! I recently went to sabor for the first time and really enjoyed the seafood and classic drinks. We choose the family style special which included their famous shrimp, mussels, sea bass and lobster risotto. All courses were delicious and well seasoned. We were also impressed by the staffs knowledge about their food. My husband asked about sustainability behind sea bass consumption and our server informed us that sea bass is no longer on the endangered list and the fish came with a bar code that the kitchen could use to know when the sea bass was caught, by whom, where and how many have been caught. This was very impressive and helped us to be more informed on the issue. My only negative comment is that the plating isn't as creative as it could be. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton, it's a real gem. The vegetable puree is creamy and a great starter to any meal. The lobster risotto is to die for, the flavours are succulent and the lobster is cooked to perfection. Their lunch time peri peri chicken is moist and very flavourful. The seafood paella reminds me of the rich flavours of Spain packed with a variety of seafood and delicate saffron rice. The tiramisu just melts in your mouth and is the best way to finish your meal. If they have a special try it - you won't regret it! read more

So we booked a table there today, we sat down to our table and my 16 months old is making some noise trying to talk to me ( but obviously he cant talk yet so he's like aaa aaa) and you know it's a very busy and big restaurant, about 500 people sitting in there at the momment, the place was packed and everybody talking sp it's very noisy too, the owner came out and told me ( he kinda had to yell as well because it's very noisy) that if I cannot get the baby to be quite then we have to leave because he said there're people trying to enjoy their dinner, but it was so noisy everybody kinda have to yell to talk to each other honestly, he was very rude he said his customers complain about the loud babies so if my baby is not quite we have to leave, but 16 months old who is full and just likes to talk and discovers new things how do you make a 16 months old quite for like 2 hours??? and I told him how sbout we're complaining right now about your service and he didn't know what to say and just left, we obviously left right away while all the kids and we are very hungry. They should totally have a sign said "no loud babies in the restaurant" in the front. We literally just sat down for 5 minutes and he told us to keep a 16 months old be quite for the entire 2 hours. This is my favorite restaurant in the city. It is consistently good food, good service and love the piano & Chris' singing. The tuna tartar could sustain me everyday at every meal. We had a lovely family style dinner. The menu is pre-set. The piri piri prawns were perfectly cooked on a delicious spicy aioli sauce followed by the bocconcini salad, the vinaigrette was great and we soaked it up with bread. Our main was lobster risotto with salmon and Chilean sea bass. I love fish - the sea bass was melt in your mouth delightful and the salmon also a treat although maybe slightly over cooked on one side. Never a huge fan of risotto but wanted to give it a try. This was very tasty but not much lobster flavour, perfectly cooked and creamy. The only average part of the meal was the dessert trio. The chocolate mousse was too dense, the cheesecake too fluffy and the carmalized pudding not a good substitute for crime brûlée. I'd love to go back. Apparently had to check this place out because @devanlarson said so. Good thing we checked this spanish/portuguese restaurant out though because it was bombs. Fried Calamari dusted with piri piri tasted great with decent breading and even better squid. Seafood was really on point here at Sabor as the Lobster Risotto and Seafood Paella didn't disappoint. Every spoonful of Risotto had large chunks of lobster in it and definitely had me thinking of the next time i'd come back to eat this dish. Seafood Paella had large pieces or prawns, scallops, calamari, mussels and clams all on a bed of saffron rice. It's a salad of the sea and it was worth the price tag to share when compared to other share platters at other restaurants in the downtown area. Three Boars was grilled wild boar chop, braised pork cheeks, roasted pork belly and brazilian-style fiejoada with wild boar bacon on top of rice. This dish had so much tenderness and different flavor for the various cuts of pork that it's a dish not worth missing here at Sabor. I usually don't talk about dessert but I couldn't leave out this Tiramisu. It was the best i've had in years and was served in a place that wasn't Italian. Located on 103st near Rogers Place, this place has a great ambiance that matches it's delicious food. Service was surprisingly fast and the live music was a nice touch. I had the pleasure of sharing a meal with family and friends at Sabor for the first time the other evening. It was a birthday celebration and because of the number of us we were seated in a private room and had a set menu where we chose an entree and the appetizers and desert were chosen for us. The serves was impeccable, I believe are server's name was Jose. He was attentive, unobtrusive and friendly. The serves was fast and all that was suppose to be hot did indeed arrive at the table hot. The appetizers that came with the set menu were delicious and not a word was spoken at the table while everyone dug in and enjoyed the piri piri prawns, scallops, ricotta and chive filled piquillo peppers, manchego filled bacon wrapped dates and Mista salad ( tomatoes, mix greens cucumber and a light vinaigrette). The buns served were also a big hit with the group. For the main coarse we had a choice of either a double boned rack of lamb , beef tenderloin served with roasted potatoes and a variety of other roasted vegetables or Alaskan sable fish on a bed of lobster risotto. The presentation was beautiful and sparked a high level of desire to dig in. I knew that everyone was enjoying the meal when the table goes from a lot of chatter to dead silence while everyone proceeds to discover what is on their plate. I had the sable fish because at times I will try something I would not have at home. I loved the fish, it was smooth as silk with a lovely after taste. The risotto was too salty for me or maybe risotto is just not a dish for me. I serve lamb to my family often so they are use to the flavor. Those that had the lamb enjoyed the meal although found it a little well done to what they are use to. Those who had the beef tenderloin were completely happy with their meal. Since this menu catered to an adult palate, it was kind of Sabor to offer a pasta dish to their young patrons. My granddaughters, who I might add are extremely picky eaters, gobbled up their pasta (which consisted of broad pasta with either an Alfredo or marinara sauce) until they could eat no more. All the portions were a generous size and left just enough room for desert. Speaking of desert, in my opinion is never complete unless involves chocolate and Sabor did not disappoint with their chocolate cayenne mousse and a slice of house cheese cake with port cherries. Very decadent, a coffee and liqueur would have gone nicely with this desert. I did not have any wine since I was driving but the wine list offered something for everyone and those that had the Malbec loved it. Entrees run between $28 and $48, appetizers or tapas run between $6 and $22 . Wine by the glass is between $16 and $21 for the 9 oz. Didn't notice the 6 oz prices, why would I. A bottle of wine will run anywhere between $40 and $400. All in all we had a lovely experience at Sabor's. The ambiance is warm and the atmosphere is calming. It is a great place for a family dinner as much as a great place for an intimate dinner for two or to catch up over dinner with friends. I am looking forward to returning to try the seafood paella. After driving through a blizzard to get here, we were ready for a yummy meal and a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. It had been a heck of a week, which included our son getting suspended from school, The dog eating my hair extensions and my sons new skull candy headphones , so my husband and I were ready for a relaxing fun evening, and Sabor delivered. The atmosphere was cozy, fun, and the live music set the mood. I had the salt cod which was really delicious and best of all, was served piping hot! Dined here 6 June 2009. Total for 2 with tax was $186.90 (tip extra) but that included an overcharge. The two us arrived without reservations on a Saturday night around 6:00 and left at 8:30. They were able to seat us immediately, unfortunately adjacent to the piano in the middle of the room, the location of the piano not only obscures vision within the room but we had trouble hearing each other and it was a distraction. The room itself is very comfortable, and has has great ambiance - with the brick, and wood available in this old "Boardwalk" location. Perfect for those special dinners or romantic evenings. Dress up or dress business casual. Not a spot for small children - and I would not want that given this is positioned as upscale dinning with a price point to match. That said we were there simply to eat and waited months after its grand opening to allow them time to polish the rough edges of the operations. The restaurant was busy and I would say that by 7:30 and as we left every table was taken. Our server for the night was a youthful young man, and was accommodating through the night. Asked if we wished to order a drink - we advised we would look through the wine list while deciding what we would order simultaneously. Although we are very familiar French, Italian and Spanish wines, we confessed to the waiter that we are limited knowledge or Portuguese wines. Sabor does not have a Sommelier on staff (or even for core weekend night hours). We knew we wanted a full bodied red - and he suggested a 2006 Cortes de Cima Chamine (Alentejano) ($43). This is of course a Tempranillo with a dark intense red colour with red berry fruit aroma and some smoky notes. Over all easily drinkable and a good choice for this evening and familiar to us as we often enjoy great Spanish Tempranillo. We started with the Algarve fish soup ($12 each). The soup was highly flavourful with a rich fish broth with a moderate amount of fish. It arrived hot and in a nice sized & shaped bowl of 8-10 oz. Following soup we enjoyed a rather large plate of Charcutaria for 2 persons ($24) which contained a selection of cured meats, cheeses, pate, marinated vegetables. This was very enjoyable, and with the fresh bread served would be an adequate meal with the soup. We might have stopped right there - and should have in hindsight, but we wanted to try the main dishes to see what the kitchen could so. My partner ordered a medium rare Steak and Frites ($39) which is a grilled 12oz. rib eye steak, home cut fries, green peppercorn cream sauce. He thought it flavourful and I thought it was medium not medium rare and so covered in sauce it was impossible to tell how it was prepared. I did not have a great experience with my first choice. I ordered the Broiled Octopus ($28) flame broiled octopus, roasted red peppers, onions, garlic, olive oil, black olives. It arrived a colourful-sight to the eyes, but the octopus was extremely tuff. These were 3 pieces and the thickness of a big mans thumb and 4 in. in length. They had been grilled, sear marks were evident. I eat octopus often and in fact had octopus the week before at a Chinese restaurant that was similar thickness size and it was extremely tender. Of course the Chinese restaurant serves many many pounds of this a day and all fresh. I concluded it was previously frozen and hence tough as leather. I sent it back as unacceptable and ordered a salt cod fish dish ($28). This dish was very good, flavourful and pleasing to the eye. The server advised it was the most popular dish ordered. We did not try dessert as we simply could not eat more. We were charged for the entree we returned (or part of it?), and only discovered this later that evening (we trusted the server had removed it as he said he would). My partner looked at the bill but did not pick up on the overcharge. To tell us there would be no problem and then charge us is a little nervy to say the least. We will speak to the Manager when we have a moment to seek a credit. To be fair though this is how we rate this place: Dining Room: 7/10, Service: 5/10, Wine List: 4/10, Food: 6/10,(Soup 8/10) Prices: $$$+ steep for the calibre of this restaurant. The atmosphere was great, but unfortunately the food was not, and the service was *far* below what I would expect from such a nice looking establishment. Food wise, I found the broiled eggplant appetizer to be so heavily soaked in balsamic sauce that I couldn't taste anything else. The 'almost divine cod' I expected to be salty, but it was so salty as to be nearly inedible - I couldn't taste the fish or sauce at all. To cut the salt I wound up mixing it with my potatoes duchesse - except for the potato's blackened, burned bottom which I had to scrape off to the side of the plate. My dinner companion had the steak and shrimp special, which he found to be mediocre but not bad. The service was much worse than the food. I feel I can speak on this with some authority as I used to wait tables in high end restaurants during my time in the service industry, and trained other waitstaff to boot. The server, who never bothered to introduce himself, was remarkably inattentive. We felt much more processed than served throughout the entire meal - something my dinner companion actually commented on first and quite early. Some examples: the server had to be asked the specials, couldn't be bothered to recommend wines coffees or desserts, and simply dropped things at the table without bothering to ask if we wanted anything else and in fact turned his back so quickly that we couldn't even ask for things ourselves (such as to order dessert after he just dumped a cup of tea at the table). Most unbelievably, when the server did his quality check (late - we were about halfway through the meal) and I mentioned that the fish was incredibly salty and could only eat it after adding the mashed potato, he simply shrugged it off. We were at a loss as to why our server was treating us so badly. The restaurant had only 4 other tables occupied and two other servers on. We overheard other tables being given excellent service by other servers, so we were fairly confident that our treatment wasn't the norm. We discovered the reason for his cavalierness at the end of the meal: the server had added an 18% gratuity to our bill. When asked about it, he told us there was an auto grat on all table with coupons - something I'd never seen before, and wasn't listed on the coupon I printed out from Groupon. I feel this should at least have been printed on the coupon or mentioned we presented it to the host. As it was, I was incensed that I was expected to pay 18% for what was truly terrible service. I asked for the grat to be removed and while sorely tempted to tip $0.02, we had had alcohol and likely he had to tip out the kitchen and bar so I tipped 10%. Neither I nor my dinner companion plan to go back, and certainly don't intend to recommend it to others. read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars because the food was outstanding, the steak was succulent and the lobster was perfectly prepared... the service however, was crap. It took our group of 8 people 3 hours to eat dinner. No one ordered any appetizers or dessert either. The server was really slow and it was actually getting to the point where one of the guys in the group was getting so fed up he just wanted to leave. What a fabulous evening! I needed a place in the city that would/could accommodate 10 people, including two children, ages six and eight. They had to be current, have great service, be accommodating, and of course, have great food. Sabor Divino passed with flying colors. I arranged the evening a few weeks ahead of time, and luckily, I was planning an early dinner, so our group could be accommodated. I decided, with their recommendation (thank you Chris) to have a set menu for the evening. Our menu... Italian sausage, several choices of bruschetta, calamari (cooked purr-fectly), shrimp with garlic and chili, Portuguese style antipasti, mmmm... That was just the starters, served family style, as it should be. We then moved on to an individually plated Mista salad which tasted like it was just picked from the garden, so refreshing and delicious. Then... I anxiously awaited the lobster risotto... It did not disappoint. The risotto was perfect, and I was incredibly impressed with the amount of lobster on every plate. You'd think I was done... but No... The maincourse then came, which was a beautiful beef tenderloin roast (delicious sauce you could just drink) and beautiful fresh mixed vegetable dish (again tasting garden fresh), served family style which was perfect for those who were... stuffed, and wanted just a taste. It left more for others who couldn't stop eating what was melt-in-your-mouth good. Of course... you can't forget dessert, they brought 5 desserts... Delectably delicious... All were devoured. All of this was reasonably priced for quality and quantity at $55 per person with half-price for the two little girls with a big appetite. I wasn't responsible for any of the wine choices for the meal, that was left to the others, but everything that came was delicious. The little girls had Shirley Temples which they were very pleased with for the special location. All the different varieties of coffee looked perfectly prepared... my latte was delicious. Other mentionables: the service was high-class. Our servers names was Serge. He was quick, attentive, helpful and very good with my little nieces who felt so grown-up and special in this fancy place [I wouldn't recommend bringing children that very rambunctious and loud to this elegance restaurant]; the atmosphere is beautiful with the exposed brick, warm wood tones and delicate lighting; a classical guitar player began partway through our evening which was fabulous. Standouts that he treated us to where music of the Beatles played so elegantly... hmmm... Purrrrfect! Summing up... With so many great restaurants in Edmonton saying one is stand alone is a hard thing to quantify. But let's break it down. Atmosphere is qualitative yes, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that. But at its core it should make it feel like you're out for something special, have some privacy and feel like you want to eat. The room at Sabor is spacious and warm, the staff are sincere and know their product. That family feel is immediate. The drink and wine list is aligned to the cuisine something that it too often confused and feels like an after thought. And of course the food. Let's start with the saying "go with what you know". And Chef Lino knows Iberian. Lots of amazing fresh in season Seafood, tasty assortment of proteins and non meat options. The menu explores both Iberian, Spanish and a bit of Italian cuisines. But it's true heart is those Spanish tastes you'd find anywhere in Spain and Portugal. From a massive array of tapas in case you just want to sample all night long or maybe the fresh bar with oysters or a ceviche. And my favorite Jamon Iberico, tender and succulent. If you have the chance and budget, go for the 36 month life changing. Sangrias are made like the real deal and I'd die happy to have another serving of Cheesecake with port cherries. Get your family, your friends or even call up 6 strangers who like to eat if you have to and go, get a big table and tuck into some of the best that there is to offer anywhere around. read more

Honestly, I am giving it a 3, more than anything for the service as this was very good and the atmosphere too was very nice. Technically, it isn't fair to give it a 2 and halves here don't exist. And the dessert saved my palate, overall, this evening at Sabor. I went with my companion after having not been for a few years, an experience I remember being both good on the atmosphere level AND the culinary level. We were seated quickly and enjoyed the music by the pianist they have in the main room :-) Our waiter came by to give us water and give us a few minutes to decide on wine and our food. I have to say, when I looked a the menu I was undecided between the Bacalau and the Sablefish, so I asked the waiter. He recommended the Sablefish saying he liked it and it is his "best seller".... I ordered it for my main, for the appetizer I had the Sardine Pate' (it is a cold spread with bread crisps--it was good and not too salty). I was looking forward to my main, the Sablefish with green salsa (cucumber) and risotto.... I got my dish and unfortunately, all I could do was look at ALL the rice (NOT risotto) the very WATERY cucumber salsa running into the rice and the very SMALL piece of Sablefish on the side....yes, on the side :-/ I was more disappointed with the rice dish and the runny cucumber salsa than the Sablefish, truth be told. The Sablefish was grilled and had a nice taste and was well seasoned. Unfortunately, the rice dish wasn't great, for me. It would have been better if it had been simpler in preparation (it had a tomato [with small chunks] base which was more wet than dry and some shrimp) and more so, the cucumber salsa really had been dry (nothing worse than having watery anything running all over the other "parts" of your dish--note that I am not a person who minds if parts of food touch each other...but when it comes to "wet and dry"....well, who of you like the idea of excess liquid in your dish that is "watery"?). My companion ordered the Black Spaghetti with Scallops which was also a bit more complicated than necessary, but he enjoyed it relatively well. It is prepared with a cream sauce which isn't oily, with the scallops and large mushrooms (again, WHY add mushrooms to battle it out with delicious scallops? Especially when there is also a cream...). Our desserts were quite good. I ordered the "Chocolate Slab" which was quite good and the right size, my companion ordered the Chocolate Cayenne Mousse, also quite good but don't worry, it is NOT at all "picante" to the tongue :-) When and if we go back, I would like us to order the "Family Style" meal they offer which also sounded quite good and looked good as I saw it go by to a table with 8 people. The waiter explained it for the evening and honestly, having not finished my meal (no, I didn't, however, I did finish the Sablefish) I was thinking it would have been better to order what was on offer for that evening. Went to this restaurant after reading rave reviews in two local periodicals. I didn't bother making reservations, and when I and my two dining companions arrived, we were seated right away since the place was virtually deserted. Frankly, I was a bit intimidated to come to this restaurant as it seemed very upscale and pretentious. Upon closer inspection it became clear that this place is nothing to be afraid of as it is no more upscale than Joey Tomatoes. My friends and I were offered a table in the remote corner and we gladly accepted. Sabor Divino is decorated in muted tones and has dim lighting which creates pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The piano added a touch of class. Our waiter was very attentive as he took our drinks and food orders. I found dinner menu too limited, and couldn't make up my mind for a long time. I finally decided on fish soup and Tagliatelle pasta. I don't really like ordering pasta at restaurants but since all other main dishes were extremely expensive, I had no choice. Most entrees are priced in $25-$40 range, and some seafood dishes cost as much as $100! Can you believe that? The wine list was rather good but again - most bottles were priced too high. I enjoyed my fish soup and pasta, but I am not sure they were worth the price. The bowl of soup was rather small; and pasta with vegetables shouldn't cost $18. Basically, my review is mixed - on the one hand, I liked the atmosphere and the quality of service; on the other hand, the food is good but overpriced. My boyfriend and I decided to visit Sabor after my parents recommend it to me since it's probably their most frequently visited fine dining restaurant in Edmonton. They had warned us in advance about the terrible parking situation so we parked across the street in a paid parking lot. (I was also told you can park in City Centre's parking lot as well (?)). Upon arrival, the host offered to hang our jackets and the atmosphere was fairly romantic (dim lights, a pianist playing music on a grand piano located inside the dining room, a very cozy and comfortable feel, HIGHLY recommend for a date!). I wasn't all too hungry since I've been eating non-stop for the holidays but I also wanted to be able to sample a couple items off the menu so my boyfriend and I decided to share a couple of dishes rather than getting our own, as we usually do. We started off with the Fresh Mussels ($18) also recommend by my parents. To my surprise, the mussels were actually huge (in size AND in portion!), the flavour wasn't overwhelming (like most mussel appetizers at other restaurants) and they weren't overly buttery and greasy. SUPER yummy and bouncy too (not overcooked and mushy). Next up was our entrees. We had been curious about squid ink for a while and they offered "Black Pasta" ($28), which is squid ink spaghetti with prawns and seared scallops, all in a cream white sauce. I'm a fan of white sauce but usually towards the end of the meal, my tastebuds get a little overwhelmed and my stomach feels a little heavy but everything with this dish was also done perfectly. The pasta was cooked al dente, the seafood was done very well and the sauce was not overly creamy. Our second shared entree was the sablefish ($38) and everything about this dish was done right as well. My only complaint would be the addition of the black olives to the dish because I'm not a fan of black olives but that's more of a personal preference than anything. For my birthday, the cheesecake was brought out on a plate with Happy Birthday written on the side of the plate and a candle on top of the cheesecake slice. The passion fruit coulis was pretty sour so if your tastebuds can't handle sour tones, I'd recommend the cherry instead. I didn't realize we had sat in for two hours but the server, service and ambiance had made it all so enjoyable that I was in no rush to leave the restaurant. I would highly highly recommend this restaurant for a date and/or if you're a seafood fan. The restaurant is also connected to it's sister restaurant Bodega which is a tapas restaurant, so this place would also be fitting for light drinks and quick bites as well. I can't think of the last time I had service that was this impeccable. Our waiter was very kind, professional, knowledgable, and efficient. I was very impressed! I had the wild boar risotto and it was delicious! I brought most of it home as it was a hefty size portion and it was just as good at midnight. :) The menu had so many things I would've to try so we will definitely be returning! read more

I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience coming to this awesome restaurant. Located on the old boardwalk along side the creperie, the spaghetti factory, and haweli downtown next to city center mall. I have spent many evenings here whether for big group birthday dinners or date night with my boyfriend. I have had the pleasure of eating almost everything on the menu or at least having a taste of a friends dish. They have an array of things to choose from with something for everyone. The menu cost I would say is a great price range, anywhere from $18 onward for their dinner entree selections, with seafood being their main focus. I would recommend trying the spicy sausage appetizer or the Charcutaria (a platter great for sharing that has cured meats and cheeses as well as some pickled vegetables and some other tasty treats). Even the vegetarian eggplant pockets are super tasty and available as an appetizer and as a main course meal. As for main entrees, my most ordered dishes are the chicken peppercorn tagliatelle and the lamb ragu on gnocchi. The last time I went for a thanksgiving get-together with my friends, I decided to try something different and ordered the monkfish and lobster risotto. Oh my god! It's amazing! If you don't know what monkfish is, I wouldn't suggest looking up what it looks like which I decided to do. Man is that thing ugly! Just enjoy the meaty and tasty flavor. If celebrating or not afraid to spend some cash, they have an amazing seafood platter that I would suggest at least 2 people share as it's huge, but runs around $94. Included on the platter is huge lobster legs, clams, octopus... As for drinks, we generally settle for a pitcher of sangria available in both red and white. By the end of the meal, everyone is usually too full to even eat dessert. If you want a great evening with excellent service ask to sit in chris' section. Not only is he a great server with a ton of experience, but he knows what he's talking about and can make your night go from ordinary to extra ordinary, and he's so nice! The piano in the middle is also a nice touch with live singing and a pianist, but I would suggest sitting a few tables away if possible, since it is a little hard to have a conversation without needing to raise your voice. The only downfall I would say is the unfortunate location of buffalo right next door. I would definitely suggest coming in a little earlier on Friday and Saturday nights, since the club next door starts to pound it's base around 10 pm and you can definitely feel and hear it in the restaurant. If you feel like a tasty lunch as well, they offer different lunch specials daily which include a starter salad or soup with prompt service. read more

Hands down the best place for perfectly executed seafood in town. And they make a mean sangria too! Chef Lino is a wizard in the kitchen, and the food never disappoints. We've been going since they opened and all their seafood is harvested sustainably as they participate in the oceanside program. Sadly as chilean seabass is being over fished, it no longer graces their menu. We were sad to see if off the menu, but respect Chef Lino's dedication and ethos. We last went a few weeks back for a large group dinner, and I was too busy with the little one to take pics, and my brother who was supposed to take some was stuffing his face instead lol. Will post some pics next time. Great place to have a fabulous meal whether its date night, hanging out with your friends or family, or a big group as their booking coordinator is a sweetheart and they have a variety of private rooms for small to large groups, or if you're planning a wedding reception, you can book the entire restaurant! We had the sable fish and halibut that night - both were just bites of heavenly buttery melt in your mouth magic. The mussels in the decadent garlic white wine cream sauce - sheer silky fabulous. The addictive piri piri shrimp was wonderfully executed (the spice level do vary everytime you go), but the garlic alioli its served with is just killer! The lobster risotto - bites of indulgence. And if you still have room at the end, you can have a taste of a bunch of their desserts if you go for the petite size... dont skip over their cheesecakes or the Dona Irene - think a light version of creme brulee... your tastebuds will thank you. read more

The service was really slow - we were there for 2.5 hours and left waiting to order our food for over 20 minutes after ordering our wine. We ate the complimentary olives and the server left the plate with the pits on our table for almost the entire meal. We had the duck as an appetizer which was really good. The entrees were alright, the steak jus (red wine & vanilla) was a great new taste but my boyfriend's seafood plate was lacking. We both enjoyed the chocolate mousse for dessert. The evening was overshadowed by the little poor customer service items (ie leaving the olive plate at our table) as we expected more from a high dining experience. Had my anniversary dinner at Sabor last night. It was wonderful from the start to the end. Service was impeccable and for the cost the food was well worth it! We had the Chef's menu and everything was very good. The lobster risotto was rich and creamy and the fish cooked perfectly I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. We thought this restaurant experience was well worth the money versus the ridiculous amount we paid at Range Rd. for Risotto bathed in clarified butter. Definitely will be our go to restaurant! read more
