    Wife's Bday Dinner

Second time at this fine dining establishment, and it always blows me away of how small it is! You literally walk right into the kitchen. Definitly a unique experience. The spaces available are a little too close to one another in my opinion, but I think the exclusive look and feel is what they are going for. Being so small, it does get a bit noisy. The service is top notch and professional. Super kind and witty when called upon. The menu does have its options, and honestly everything we ate was cooked to perfection. The lamb meat balls I had to get a second order of cause it was delicious. A place like this will not be cheap, but I think for a special occasion, it's worth it for the quality and experience. First time we came we did the "just feed me option" where they ask types of things you like and restrictions and then suprise you with 5 to 6 dishes. This go around we picked our own dishes. Depends if you are in the mood for the element of suprise or not. There is definitely a reason why it's rated so high for so many years going strong.

My husband and I have come here countless times over the last few years and there are so many reasons it continues to be our favorite. Kelsey is one of the owners and each time we come here we are treated like family and warmly treated. Our favorite at to dine here will always be the Feed Me Menu. Each dish is well prepared, beautifully plated and each flavour just makes sense. I get so excited waiting to see what the next plate will be. Portion sizes are smaller but with this option we always leaves happy. We have ate inside, at the bar and on the patio. Each spot has always felt intimate and cozy. Kelsey is always a delight and we have never left feeling like it wasn't a wonderful time. My absolute must in Edmonton.

I was dining by myself last week and was lucky to find a place at the little bar. I have been here many times, but not for 5 years or so. Wow, so impressed. Kelsey is such a warm and welcoming host. She made it a really great experience, despite being full to capacity. She recommended the 'feed me' option which was exceptional. I stopped after four little courses: shrimp, risotto, meatball and the bacon to finish. Each were delicious. Because she offers 3 oz pours of wine, I was able to match a wine to each course. So I had 8 wonderful flavor experiences at one sitting while not being over-fed or over-charged. Just right. Can't say enough about Tzin. Cute room, diverse yet compact wine list, great food, exceptional service. Thanks Kelsey! Can't wait to come again.

The place is amazing! Small dining room but it was just perfect. The food was amazing and the owner was so nice. I can't wait to go back and enjoy some more wonderful meals here! I was in town for a Hockey game this place wasn't too far from the arena.

We wanted to celebrate somewhere really special, so we chose to go to Tzin for their wine & tapas. This intimate spot has been on 104 St for 15 years & is dark, sexy and perfect for date nights. The service is amazing - attentive without being overbearing or insincere. They go out of their way to make everyone who walks in feel welcome & comfortable. You can order off the menu or try the Feed Me option - tell them how hungry you are, any dislikes/allergies and let the kitchen surprise you. Dishes are meant to be shared, with or without wine. They even text you a picture of all the wines you're served at the end of your meal! We loved every dish we ate, paired perfectly with a wine (until we stopped the wine & were made a delicious lemonade to finish the meal). Every texture, taste - it all married together beautifully and we were so satisfied by the end! They're most famous for "THE bacon" but I promise, there are so many more treasures on this menu to discover. It's been a while since I've been back and it's as wonderful as I remember it. Highly highly recommend.

On a whim, I took my boyfriend out for his birthday tonight... purely based on Open Table's ratings for this place. I have to say this was not only delicious, but also an experience. We did the "Feed Me" option, and we were very glad we did. It was a lot of fun not knowing what food would come out next... I also tried some things that were outside of my usual comfort zone. It was hella expensive, $200 with tip for 2 people.... (with a $60 bottle of wine...) but this was definitely, as I said, an experience. Would I be back? Absolutely.... tomorrow? Probably not.... maybe another special event. This place seats probably 20 people max, which makes it feel very intimate and exclusive. The service was lovely, I think we had one of the owners (the wife I presume). She was great and wanted to make sure we had a great experience. Thank you!

This was our first visit to Edmonton and dinner at Tzin was my favorite highlight!! The chef is an absolute artist - best meal we ever had!! We started with the salad (cherry tomatoes, castelveltrano olives, red onion, cucumber, arugula, grilled lemon vinaigrette) then had the gnocchi with mixed mushrooms, tomato & fennel ragu (this was the most delicious dish!!) We also had the pork Loin seasoned with Moorish spice, and served with pickled cabbage slaw, cilantro vinaigrette. Then, we added the paella with jerk marinated chicken, jalapeno salsa, saffron, bomba rice, mango oil. I would come back to Edmonton just to eat here!! The fabulous bar tender made me her own sangria which paired well with everything. I wish I took pictures of the food, but we devoured everything too fast! I managed to get a little of the paella!

My experiences so far have only been OK. I've been here about three times now, still waiting to have the wow experience that everyone else keeps telling me I'm going to have! I've been making my way through the tapas menu and so far everything I've tried has been great. Last night, I made some reservations for wine after dinner. We were seated quickly, no issue. We did not want to eat though, just wanted wine, and it seemed like our server did not like that. We tried to order a bottle of Zinfindal and all he said was, "no." We asked if they were out and he just kept saying, "no" with no explanation, so we had a bottle of Pino Noir. I was kind of confused there because this purported as a wine bar so is it so weird that guests would order wine? Other than that the experience was pleasant! After some time our server kind of warmed up to us and was being a lot more friendly. The space is small, lovely and warm, and makes for some great ambiance. I'm all about small places like this. I also love sitting in close proximity because we got to engage with some other tables! There was a woman walking around taking care of tables as well and she was also very friendly! In my prior visits here I ordered the patatas bravas which are the best! You can win my heart with that dish. I read all these glowing reviews and feel a bit sad that mine haven't been the same. I think I will try a few more times though because the food and ambiance make it worth a shot.

I was here for Edmonton Dining Week. Out of the 6 different restaurants, this one was the one that we were least impressed by....not because of the flavour of the food, but the size of portions. I also felt that our server was really great to us when we were ordering, but then once we were done so was he. I really dislike this...especially because we ordered a lot. And it cost a lot. Our server gave us the option of having two Edmonton Dining meals, or one Dining meal, and one chef's creation. The Chef's creation was 15 dollars more, which we weren't told about, and we were unsure what was included. We ordered two cocktails at 8 bucks each. My Gin and tonic was fine, but it was probably the worse Caesar that my husband has had for along time. And at a tapas bar, this is disappointing. Onto the dishes - Tuna Tartare - cilantro, shallots, citrus, grilled lemon vinaigrette, Bacon Maple Balsamic Apple Compote, Apple Mayonnaise, Crostini, Calvados Gastrique Wild Boar Meatballs - Tomato & Black Garlic, Jack Daniels Glaze Seared Scallops - pickled tomatoes, balsamic Bison & Mushroom Sausage - wild blueberries, root vegetable puree, shoestring potatoes and a Wild Mushroom Gnocchi So in general, all the dishes were amazing! I loved the tuna tartare, my husband liked the bacon dish. What we had an issue with was the portion size...which is tiny. And what really made my husband angry was for the bison and mushroom sausage...there was really no side dish to speak of. Look at the photos. If you have a tiny portion on tuna tartare, a tiny portion of seared scallops, you would expect that your 1 sausage would either come with 2 sausages or 1 sausage with two sides that would fill you. We weren't filled. In fact, we grabbed an order of fries to fill up before we went home. Super disappointing. We won't be back .

Most people in the city are familiar with Sabor, Edmonton's legendary Spanish and Portuguese restaurant. But have you ever wished that there was a more casual, more low-key version of Sabor? Maybe with multiple conveniently located spots around town? Well you're in luck because that's exactly what Bodega is! You'll find Bodega's flagship restaurant in the lower street level part of Sabor itself, however there are now five other locations. It's almost a guarantee that there is a Bodega near you, no matter where you are. People have loved this place for years. Voted as #1 Best Tapas 2018, #1 Best Spanish 2018, and #1 Best Wine Bar 2018 in VUE Weekly. CBC Edmonton's Best Restaurants 2019 listed them as Best of Downtown. And you'll find them as a Favourite Communal (Sharing) spot on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2022 list. It turns out that the people of Edmonton love a laid-back tapas moment and getting some sangria into the mix doesn't hurt either. I was excited to visit Bodega's original location in the heart of Downtown on a Saturday evening and to finally experience their flavours. The first thing to note about the OG Bodega restaurant is that they don't take reservations, however all of the other ones do. As previously mentioned, you will find the flagship location right inside of Sabor. Parking can sometimes be tricky in this area and that's the only downside. If you've been to Sabor before you already know how impressive the space is. The huge building is one of those places that doesn't need to pretend to be old because it actually is. Instead of heading up the stairs into Sabor's dining space, Bodega is found to the left of the entrance in the lower street-facing area. It's actually a wonderful use of space which otherwise might not have served much of a purpose. Less dressed up and grand than Sabor (but still bearing a similar decor), Bodega harnesses the Spanish modern-day watering hole vibe by featuring a simple but beautiful bar area and bistro-style al fresco dining in the warmer months. The dining space is small and because there are no reservations taken it might be necessary to prepare for a wait. When my group arrived it took about 15 minutes to be seated which seemed entirely reasonable. We were pleased to be situated at a beautiful little table outdoors, in the warm summer breeze. Unfortunately, there were a lot of bugs flying around that kept landing on our table and we had to ask to be moved to one of the more interior tables. Thankfully the staff was able to accommodate this! We really didn't want the bugs to land in our food. The servers who visited our table were all extraordinarily friendly and gracious. Of course there were going to be drinks! The wine list is plentiful and extensive. However, I was more drawn to the interesting Iberico gin & tonics, caipirinhas, sangria, and the signature cocktails. These are the types of drinks that I picture myself holding on a patio in the summer. From the cocktail list, the De Puta Madre (Mezcal, dry Sherry, pineapple, lemon, orgeat, cocoa powder - $16) sounded like the most special one to me. Out of curiosity, I put the name of this drink into a Spanish to English translator and had a pretty good laugh when I learned that it means Fucking Awesome. Well. Sounds like I made the correct beverage choice! And I really did enjoy sipping on this perfectly crafted cocktail. I was slightly worried that the mezcal would be very strong and boozy, but the balance of the ingredients was lovely. I felt that I was able to taste and appreciate the flavour of the mezcal without it being too overpowering. The fruity and sweet flavours from the pineapple, lemon, and almond syrup made the drink fun, but again it wasn't too sweet either. I loved this cocktail and it paired perfectly with the rest of the meal. The food menu is packed full of options and every single thing sounds enticing. The good news is that the plates are small and part of the experience is to order a lot of them. There's a whole long list of tapas, but also breads, spreads, charcutaria, and cheese if you are in the mood to create an exciting board (I always am!). There are also some larger plates if you are truly looking for one big meal of food. On this visit I was aiming to remain in the tapas realm since that is what this restaurant is actually all about. As such, we proceeded to barrage our server with a long list of items, eager to sample as many dishes as reasonably possible. We were asked if we would prefer to have every dish all at once, but opted for a slow and staggered method. No need to hurry though! It wasn't long before our parade of plates began to arrive. First was the Brushchetta (Grape tomato and fromage blanc - $14.00). I wouldn't have chosen this dish on my own accord but I saw it pass by on its way to a different table and it caught my eye. The tomatoes looked
