Now that I've been to this location twice I am confident in saying "I love it". I love the natural light from the many windows. The decor is unique and it seems that there's something new to see each time one looks up and around. The seats are comfy. The tables are sturdy. The menu is the same/similar to the bodega highlands so we found our favorites here: boar cheeks, bacon wrapped figs, piri piri chicken and the peppers stuffed with ricotta and scallions; and many many more. One or two things to consider...both times I've been, the wine list is missing quite a few in the list. We've made do with what's available but paid more than we normally would simply because of limited selection and none of our party wanting light wines. Street parking but there's lots if you're ok to walk a block or two. The service has been lovely both times we've been, attentive, authentic and informed. read more

My husband and I have been here on several evenings for their cocktails and tapas. We love the duck pate and warm Portuguese loaf- soooo good! Service is always warm and welcoming. Last night I brought 10 friends and we had a great time. The food was amazing. The family style seafood dish received high praise from 4 of our party as did the seafood paella- the seafood in both dishes was perfectly prepared and the seasoning made the dishes. The 2 person paella serving was huge and fed 4 of us. The dates were very tasty and the bruschetta was a favorite. Their lobster and mushroom risotto was declared delicious by 3 of our party. Valentines edition 2021! This place is super cool! Fairly tiny little room, super cozy with elegant lighting...basically what you would expect from a snuggly little tapa's bar. Tonight we had a set menu of either a meat or seafood platter plus some ala cart items as well..here we go The options were both 99 bucks but with that you got a bunch of food but we decided to go seafood. Started us out with crispy calamari with a kinda tzatziki drizzled over top...dynamite! They had a nice little kick of heat you usually don't see in calamari dishes. Next were the piri piri prawns which were gigantic! Don't know what kind of shrimp growth hormone these guys were on but omg were they big and equally delivered in flavour. Some delightful crispy empanita's arrived stuffed full of veggies and shrimp excellent! Next roasted brussel sprouts with a citrus sauce. Perfectly roasted and they just get nice and sweet if done properly. Ordered a seared strip loin off the ala cart side of the menu cause why not, topped with an amazing fresh chimichurri. On the money medium rare cook but with a nice crispy charred outside. The seafood kept rolling in with 4 enormous seared scallops on a bed of cucumber slaw a little light in flavour but perfectly cooked, Ramsey would approve. Finished our dinner with a lobster risotto topped with a halibut and tuna steak. Risotto was next level, creamy yet firm, lots of cheese. Tuna was a little over cooked for my taste and halibut was really salty but still good. Polished off the night with a cherry cheesecake to die for... Such a great experience front to back, our service was outstanding, great food, great wine, great Valentines Day meal. Would highly highly recommend checking this place out. In the same location as the old Dish & the Spoon, the atmosphere is lively and the service pretty good. What let's the place down is the quality of the food. In general, the menu is bland. What was disappointing was that some is the dishes were incorrectly reheated, retaining a frozen centre. At this price point you'd expect the cooks to be more competent. Fresh not frozen? Wow this place is my new favourite! I was here a couple weeks ago just for a quick drink with a client... The cocktails were awesome! I decided to come back for dinner with a friend tonight. Tuesday was half-price wine so we had a really nice bottle of cava, only $20 it was a great deal. Decided to go with mix of tapas. The ceviche, was really nice. Spicy and very fresh and citrusy... Definitely a great dish Steamed kale was particularly great... Had a very lemony garlic brightness to it. Grilled calamari puttanesca was the top dish... a really great classic puttanesca sauce over tender calamari. The grilled octopus in an olive tapenade was the only one that was a little bit tough, which octopus can be... Also did nice cheese and Spanish jambon... The service he was really great everybody was very attentive and smiling and knew a ton of stuff about the menu... Also the decor was incredible some of the art feature walls were really amazing. Having dined @ Bodega down town, I was excited to see what their Sweet lil' spot off 124th street had to offer. Our server was fabulously fun & knowledgable. Suggesting we try everything Octopus, so we did adding in Ceviche and several delicious sides and a bottle of bubbly ~ the Cava was perfect and a steal @ $20 (HALF PRICE BOTTLES ON TUESDAYS) Great date stop, business drink, casual drink after work, nibbles or a full spread ~ the Charcuterie board looked fantastic. Absolutely loved my experience at Bodega. Sabor is one of my favourite restaurants and I'm so glad I can order my favourites at Bodega. I love the concept of just tapas since it allows you to try more dishes. I've been to the Highlands location as well as this and they are both consistently great. I really enjoy Bodega and was excited to check out the 124th Street location. We were not disappointed. My friend and I came here without a reservation on a Wednesday evening. Upon entrance, you are in the bar area where there are tables with a more casual and boisterous atmosphere. It sets the mood of good cheer. We weren't really sure if we needed to wait to be seated as no one greeted us so we just walked in and made our way to the back where the restaurant area was. Once we entered the back, a server said to go ahead and take a seat where we pleased. It took awhile before we were served but I believe that is because we weren't seated from the start. Other than that, our server was lovely and gave wonderful recommendations. We decided to order a glass of wine each and have the olives as well as the fresh bread and olive oil to start. Unfortunately, these came only minutes before our entrees so it didn't allow for us to take our time and enjoy each item. I had ordered one of the specials which was seared salmon in a tomato basil risotto. It was delicious! The salmon was seared to perfection and the flavours were wonderful. My only criticism is that the oil from the fish was a bit in excess and made the tomato risotto more on the moist side. My friend ordered the Mediterranean Sea Bass with grilled asparagus and lemon risotto. This dish was perfection. The fish was tender and tasty and the lemon risotto was fluffy and complimented the asparagus and fish. I would definitely order this in the future as it is one of their main entrees. All in all it was a good experience with a few minor kinks to work out. I look forward to coming back again and checking out the other items. read more

Can't beat their amazing lunch specials. For $15 you get a soup or salad and a delicious unique meal. See their Facebook or Instagram profiles for what their daily specials are. When I took my husband there recently, he ordered their pork belly and bacon paella with roasted vegetables and it was really good! I tried their lingcod special with lobster stock risotto - the fish was cooked perfectly but I found the dish lacked any textural contrasts. It was yummy but I preferred my husband's meal more. Oh I should mention, we also ordered the Piri Piri Prawns to start. All the Bodega locations prepare their prawns consistently. Perfectly grilled and meaty with a delicious sauce. The only small complaint I have is the price point is high for just 3 prawns in my opinion. For drinks, we both opted to order a red wine sangria. I prefer my sangria's to be on the slightly sweeter side whilst theirs was more on the "wine-y" side so my husband ended up drinking both for us. Hahaha Service was just okay. I think the bartender was the one serving us as we were there at 1 pm on a Friday and there were only two other tables occupied when we arrived. Our server could've been friendlier and more welcoming but once again, just my preference. We found parking just around the block in the residential area but note the 2 hour limit. read more

We ordered pork cheek, chicken liver, calamari, and seafood paella. Pork cheek: we were amazed how much meat we got for $9. The meat was tender and flavourful. Chicken liver: the sauce was amazing but the liver was over cooked (or not fresh) Calamari: tasted exactly like those you get from cheap Japanese eat. Not so fresh and not so tasty. Seafood paella: there were lots of seafood in the paella, but it's likely they were all frozen seafood. The rice tasted like undercooked, maybe that's how rice in paella is usually done I'm not sure. But overall, I think the food quality was fair consider the price we paid. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a couple of weeks now since I came across an advertisement. I am so glad I did!!! This place was phenomenal. It is located right off of 124 st as soon as you turn on to Stony Pl. The decor is quite unique. Everything is Spanish themed from the seating, bullfighting picture, wooden slide door for the bathroom etc. We went in on a Sunday and the place started filling up shortly after our arrival. I say get there before 5:30 if you want seating because it gets super busy afterwards and is not a big place. The food where do I even begin?! Our top choice was the bacon wrapped dates with cheese, pisto manchego, shrimp and beef empanadillas, and the bruschetta. They were marvellous! We also ordered the pork belly which was good however, my friend got a slice that was nothing but fat. Luckily our server agreed to take that off of the bill. We got the bread and olive oil (don't really recommend it). It was essentially just burnt toast with olive oil. I would've gotten a different dish had I've known, perhaps a meat dish. We also got the cheese which came with 5 slivers of cheese and 3 crustinis. It would've been nice if they gave enough crustini pieces for the number of cheese slices though. Wine is a bit on the pricier end - $13 for a 6 oz $19 for 9oz they also only have 4 wines by the glass in total, everything else is by bottle only. Each and every staff we encountered were absolutely great to deal with. All in all my friend and I loved this place. We were surprised that the price was reasonable too. In the end, after splitting our order (8 items) the price came out to $25 each. Not bad at all!! read more

I really love this restaurant. When you walk in you notice the walls all decorated with everything white. It's a small, intimate place. The food is absolutely delicious. Best Spanish food in Edmonton. There is lots of vegan and vegetarian options. The fried artichokes are so simple but was one of the best dishes I've had in years. The prices are typical to other tapa restaurants and they are all meant for sharing. They also have a really nice curated wine list and a cocktail list. So excited that this restaurant is now close to my stomping grounds! Still in my top 3 restaurants in town. The food is unreal, the menu has something for everyone (so much to choose from) and the price is a steal. The wine and cocktail list is also quite decent. This location has a small euro-feel patio in the back that you can access from the side of the building. Since it's in between taller buildings you won't get much sun but it's still a great little spot. Some favs are the grilled artichokes (I usually get two orders if it's a party of four because they are just so good), boar cheeks, piri piri anything, bacon wrapped dates, pudim caseiro custard, manchego cheese. But likely you won't order anything you don't like! I've never tried brunch here but it will happen soon. Parking for this location is okay if you're fine with walking a bit. I would like to give Bodega a 3.5 but the rating system doesn't let me...sigh. A happy 20-30 minute walk from where I live, with my companion, we ventured out on April 12th. It was a slightly chilly early evening but a nice walk to enjoy what we thought was Spring to stay... SO glad the Dish and the Runaway Spoon's good vibes remained with Bodega :-) and we are glad they are here! Having been to Spain and enjoyed the Tapas style of a meal, we ordered the Salt Cod Fritters, Grilled Sardine Fillets, 1 set of Empanadillas with a Mista Salad and the Bruschetta to start :-D It was refreshing (as it has been) to enjoy food that hasn't been overseasoned and oversalted :-) All the items are reasonably priced and we enjoyed them all :-) As we finished what we ordered, we ordered two more items, the Grilled Calamari (on the spicy [YUM] side) and the Seared Tuna (LOVED IT). On the whole, each item we ordered was delicious and flavours were all pleasing to the palate. Of the desserts, we ordered the Chocolate Espresso torte and the Cheesecake. Both very nice and a tasty way to end the evening :-) I enjoyed this meal tapas style versus the one we had at Ampersand when they first opened....mostly because here there is more than charcuterie to select from and items are served in individual dishes (perhaps at Ampersand things have changed since we haven't been back since the first time we went, admittedly). We look forward to returning when they open the patio area :-) I do recommend going here not only for the food but also, it reminds me of being in Italy actually where there are spots you can stop in to afterwork for un aperitivo, and then you stay ... for dinner, eating more of the small dishes with a nice glass of wine without feeling over full :-) read more

Apparently there are 3 Bodegas in #yeg and the one on 124th is da best according to Google. So we decided to try it out and was very impressed. Started out with some ceviche which was refreshing to start the meal. Dinner proceeded with our tapas that included (take a deep breath) fried calamari, pate, roasted pork belly, bacon wrapped dates, grilled octopus, crimini mushrooms, braised pork cheeks, grilled lamb chops, oysters, shrimp. The only item I found supbar were the fried calamari, I thought that they were overcooked. All the other tapas were great though. The crimini mushrooms were soaked in sherry and had a poached egg, so much yolk goodness. The bacon wrapped dates were cooked incredibly well. Oh, also that roasted pork belly had such a good crisp. Deadly good tapas. Our selection of Big Plates included seafood paella and lobster risotto. After having the best seafood paella i've ever had in Portland, this is pretty decent. Good amount of seafood in this dish and some great flavor. The lobster risotto was hands down my favorite dish. Had a strong lobster flavor without being overly salty. This is a must try dish for sure. For desserts we had 2 great choices of torta de santiago and pudim caseiro. Torta was galcian almond cake with creme anglaise. The creme poured all over the cake was a tad overdone, making it a bit tougher than expected. The pudim was Portuguese baked caramel custard. Rich flavor and just a damn well made dessert. Located on 124st and 103ave, Bodega really impresses. While it's sister restaurant, Sabor, is in my top 3 restaurants in town, Bodega is definitely up there. Our recent Thursday date night at Bodega was amazing. It was our first visit and this little gem certainly lived up to the good reviews I had read. We called ahead and asked if there was room, unfortunately the place was packed. Understandable considering how good this place is and the fact that we tried to go in the evening. We showed up and waited in line patiently, after about 15 minutes we were shown to our table. Our waitress was a nice petite lady with short blonde hair and was very very smiley. She recommended the piri piri chicken because it was sweet and savoury but had a little bit of heat to it. I'd never been to a tapas place so I wanted a little bit of everything. We ordered the mushrooms, the piri chicken, the sirloin, the calamari, and had sangria and two of their desserts: the cheesecake and the caramel flan. The food was so, so good. I'm not joking. Yes it was a little expensive because we ordered six things but it was the best mushrooms I've had anywhere. They were cooked so well with brandy and poached eggs, and we were able to place them on top of the crusty bread slices. I was hesitant about whether I'd get to leave feeling full because my idea of tapas was that they were small dishes - which the are - but it was incredibly flavourful and delicious. My first tapas, and it was great! A great variety of hot and cold selections. We had the lamb chops, seafood paella, chicken livers and liver pâté. The Japan gin and tonic was a fantastic twist on a classic. Definitely coming back for more. Logistically difficult when it's busy and people are coming and going. The decor and upbeat late night ambiance make this one of my new fave weekend spots! Have been here twice now specifically for the seafood paella ( and mussels, and mushroom risotto, and the peri peri prawns, and the grilled calamari, and the great wine ;) ) The restaurant is small and intimate with beautiful white accents and huge windows that let in tons of sunlight. Came here with a group of 7 on my wife's birthday, they don't take reservations, but we took our chances and got in, although we had to sit at the bar. Cozy feel to the decor, they make a lit of room out of the small space. Prices are reasonable and the food is very good, it comes out fast and hot and everything we had was tasty. Highlights for me were the chicken gizzards and the meatballs. Wine list looks ok, beer list is below par, bartender who served us was very friendly and chatty and made awesome cocktails. read more

This smaller size place doesn't normally take reservations, so plan ahead or aim for quieter times. But it's worth it! I went with a group on a Tuesday, when they had several half price wines listed which were delicious and a great deal. We shared a bunch of the appetizers and all of them were amazing. The atmosphere was cool and quirky, this would make a great place for a date or just some wine with a couple of friends; it's probably not so great for groups. It's not far from downtown but on the far end of Oliver so there was free street parking available within a block or two, always a bonus! Would definitely go back as I'd love to try their full menu (and more of their delicious wines). read more

Had a wonderful time midweek evening. Our group of four tried 10 or so plates all good some very good. Our favorites include the ceviche braised boar cheek and Mediterranean sea bass.
