There were several young folks hanging out in front of the place, most ordering those cool looking shake drinks. I was greeted by staff after entering and trying to decide what I wanted for food. They also offer hot foods ready to serve & eat such as stewed chicken, pepper steak, rice, beans, and veggies. They accept cash, but no credit cards (Venmo and Apple Pay accepted). I noticed they offer small and large size dinners and I decided on a small dinner since the large size was huge. I chose Pepper Steak with white rice and beans, which came out to $7 total, nicely packed good into a cleared plastic sandwich size box. The food was really good with very tender pieces of stewed seasoned beef steak with potatoes, soft white rice and red beans. The small size was definitely just enough food to be full.

Super glad they opened.

You first choose your size: either the medium, which will run you between $8-10, or the large size for $11.50-13.50. I got the medium stewed chicken with yellow rice. They filled it to the brim and it was $10 - you cannot beat that! It was absolutely delicious. I got a bottle of water too and sat in their comfortable dining room. They had several different protein options: salmon, pernil (pork), stewed beef and more. There's definitely something for everyone. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Seems to be just thrown up there in the window and not appetite appealing as customers" we eat with our eyes first". Presentation is everything. I called back to complain to a manager on the phone but no one spoke English to hear my grievance. I noticed new server's at the front end that doesn't seem to know what they're doing. I am and about to say "was" a frequent customer for years. But I'm thinking of leaving that business camaraderie. Also they lost the business at Crossgates Mall. Hummmmm I wonder why

I first encountered Lidia there, and even though it's about an hour's trek for us, we happily make the trip--honestly, as much as we enjoy the market, we mostly go for the empanadas. She has so many vegan and vegetarian options but also meat empanadas too. I was a vegetarian for many years... but not anymore, thanks to Lidia's. There are plenty of delicious vegetarian choices but I couldn't resist branching out. The pork and beef are excellent, and the chicken is probably my favorite--perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. And then there are sweet empanadas too. Ohhh mama! There was one that I think had cream cheese and caramel... that one absolutely knocked my socks off. I genuinely needed a quiet moment just to savor it. The empanadas themselves are wonderfully crispy on the outside and absolutely packed on the inside--no skimpy fillings here. Each one is stuffed with generous portions and really interesting flavor combinations, with different textures that keep every bite exciting. And I cannot forget the green sauce. Don't even get me started. It's bright, dreamy, and full of lime and cilantro flavor. I basically pour it onto my plate and use the empanadas as little sauce sponges until the plate is spotless. Another thing that makes Lidia's Empanadas so special is Lidia herself. When you look at her Instagram, you can't help but fall in love with her commitment to her family and her community. You can really see how that love pours directly into the food she creates. She's passionate about making delicious food, about creating a warm and safe space for children and families at the farmers market, and about sharing her beautiful family and culture with others. That pride and care come through in every single empanada--and somehow make them taste even better. Every time I tell myself I'll try a different vendor, I end up right back at Lidia's--and I have zero regrets. Totally worth the trip upstairs at the Troy Farmers Market. Absolutely delicious.

That said, I think it's totally fair to bring a restaurant's wine list into the conversation when talking about a place where "Tapas" is in the name of the business itself. While I have nothing against a short wine list, there was only one Spanish wine on the list of whites. There are were two on the reds. With prices hovering around $30 a bottle, the wines were modestly priced. However, none of the vintages were included on the list, which made me concerned. But when our bottle of Albariño arrived, it was thankfully a current vintage. I've never had a waiter cast doubt on my wine selection before, so that was new to me. He thought we might be happier with a red. However, he wasn't privy to the food we were going to order. White was definitely the right call for the night. We were there as the first snow of the season began to fall. So maybe that's why the place was understaffed. The news really likes to hype up snow fall. Perhaps the best thing we ordered was the guacamole, which was billed as being prepared at the table. However, last Thursday ours was not. The waiter did make a display of chopping at the bowl with the serving spoon as he walked it over to our table. But that's not quite the same thing. Still, that was the best thing we had to eat that night. The company was great, and I actually enjoyed the more relaxed pacing of the meal. Although my suggestion to the waiter about the order in which we would like to food to arrive was rebuffed. He told us, to let him know what we wanted to eat, and he'd take care of the rest. In the end, that worked out fine. Minus the hiccups of dropping off the wrong food at the table, twice. Well, and the food being mostly satisfactory, if unremarkable. Beyond the guacamole, there isn't really anything I would order again. Maybe we ordered wrong? Perhaps it was a mistake to go for Spanish dishes at a Mexican restaurant. I really don't know. All told, the four of us ordered six dishes, a bottle of wine, and split a flan. We all left feeling sated, and enjoyed our night out. The whole experience came to just over thirty bucks per person, including tax and tip. Which isn't bad. Especially since the waiter treated three of us to tequila shooters, which also included a bit of sprite and coffee liqueur. I abstained, since I'm not the best at driving in heavy snow on unplowed roads. Still, it was a lovely gesture.
