First time here and very skeptical about downtown Albany micro restaurants to be honest but I broke out of my shell. I was very impressed, with food and how authentic everything was and tasted. Definitely get the crackling! As a foody I guarantee you will love this place, I cannot wait to go back and taste some more South American dishes. You can't go wrong with the well sized portions and perfectly seasoned dishes to be honest. The entire time we were in the little seating area eating, the front of the store was packed. Really the only downside was the wait staff was very slow and did not come over often and our food took 45min. However it was rush hour for lunch and there was one waiter so I have to let that slide, plus the food was everything I was told it was, awesome! Trust me just the eat the food here!

Love the food, it reminds me of my friend Peggy's home cooking. The food comes out and and I love the generous portions , well of the dishes that I've had there so far have all been large portions. My favorite dish is the Aroz con Pollo with my favorite side of maduros. I love all the veggies in it red peppers, green peppers green peas, carrots, onions, olives, scallions wait I am forgetting the chicken. Lunch time it's not so crowded so I eat in, most all the lunch ordering seems to be for pickups and delivery. I prefer to get out of my office for lunch, get some air. This a small establishment so dinner time it is usually packed, well of the times I did eat dinner here it was always packed. Getting back to the portions I can never finish my lunch so I'll take the rest to go my family loves my doggie bags. I'm gonna keep coming back for more.

Amazing food and really friendly staff. The Bandeja Tipica is a slam dunk. It's tiny, so if you're eating in, plan accordingly.

You could eat closer to the bar to enjoy the music and people watching, or toward the back with the fire place. Service was great. Our waiter was helpful as we tried to figure out what to get, and we even had a chance to talk with the owners son. After going back and forth with the menu that is full of great options, I ordered the Bistec Encebollado, grilled veggies, rice and pigeon peas, and plantains. The steak was so big, I totally left with a second meal. My husband ordered peppered steak, mashed potatoes and grilled veggies, and that was also a large serving. Both meats were juicy, tender, and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were freshly mashed and perfectly seasoned, as were the vegetables, and the plantains were nice and sweet. I will definitely be coming back. The vibe was nice, and the food was delicious!

I was warmly greeted, seated, and given a menu and then it took some time, well after I was ready, to be visited to place my order. No biggie, but I was ready and it wasn't busy, with guests at 1 other table. When I finished my meal, I waited again. Not a huge problem but a lot of side work was being done vs providing service. I let server know I was all set and he acknowledged then continued to make drinks for kitchen staff. I had ordered lemonade but after checking, it looked like they were out, so he offered the juice (without explaining). Food was very tasty. Lunch was $37 before tip, for 3 tacos meal, 3 empanadas app, and the fruit drink.

Is this place clearly and objectively better than places I've been to that have cloth napkins and cocktail programs but that only gave me four stars worth of delight in that particular moment? No, probably not. Did I have a delicious meal here for under fifteen dollars and feel five stars worth of cheerful? Yes, yes I did. I got three tacos -- chorizo, birria, and al pastor -- and a bottled drink. My tacos were fresh and flavorful and came with three excellent salsas (my fave was the avocado tomatillo, but they were all great) and a generous bag full of warm tortilla chips. They charged me something like $11.90 for everything, so once I shoved some bills into the tip jar I think I spent around $15.00. I ate outside at a sidewalk table on a beautiful evening and felt at peace with the world around me, despite the fact that I ate my tacos so quickly that I got the hiccups. In conclusion: this place is great and made me happy. You should come here, eat tacos, and feel happy too. The patient gentleman behind the counter also mentioned that their homemade empanadas are very popular, so I'll be back to try them the next time I get hungry on Madison Ave.
