Stew chicken w yellow rice and bean, sweet plantains
Kalinda T.

While looking for some Hispanic food on Yelp I came across Miami's and read the reviews. I decided to take the drive to restaurant and to my amazement I've I found parking right in front establishment. I was greeted with a friendly hello and Mami herself let me know what was available. I ordered the bacalao w yellow rice and beans with sweet plantains. My husband ordered the stew chicken w yellow rice and beans. Both meals were a large but looked like a 2xl. The prices are so cheap for the portions and there were so many options. Now for the food it was so good and flavorful. This is my new favorite spot.

Mami's is a great place to pickup tasty Spanish food at very reasonable prices. They offer a good variety of main dishes such as chicken, pork, fish, beef, ribs, oxtail, served with choice of rice and beans in small ($6-$7), medium ($7-$8), and large ($9-$12) boxes. They also have empanadas, potato balls, tostones, plantains, pastelitos, mac & cheese, yuca, fries, small desserts (cake, cheesecake), and cooler drinks. The place is very small and geared for takeout. I stopped in here for takeout recently. I ordered the Large Stewed Fish (Cod) with Yellow Rice & Beans ($9) and 2 Empanadas ($1 each) (beef and chicken). The owner was very friendly and got my hot and ready food was double bagged since the box would become messy. The portion of food was very generous and the meal was very good, fish filets drenched in the red sauce, slightly salty flavor. The rice and beans were soft and firm. The empanadas were great small appetizers, fried pastry shell filled with seasoned shredded meats. I would definitely stop in again at Mami's for more! Mami's Restaurant is very similar to Cibao Kitchen back in New Hampshire (Nashua), which offers a similar menu with great food and very reasonable prices too!

Pernil pork, yellow rice, stewed pinto beans and sweet plantains. Superb

Caribe Spanish Restaurant and Sports Bar - Chicharron with garlic sauce over yellow rice

Caribe Spanish Restaurant and Sports Bar

(34 reviews)

This is one of my favorite restaurants in our area. Everything that I have tried here is delicious,…read morethere is off-street parking, the prices are reasonable, the owners are wonderful people, and the service is top notch. The place is set up like a Caribbean seaside bar. Lots of tropical colors and motifs, fun tropical drinks, and a full menu of Dominican and Puerto Rican staples. So far, we've tried the soup, beef, pork, and all the sides, and everything has been amazing.

A little history to start, what do the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines have in…read morecommon? They were all Spanish colonies. Caribe leans to Dominican and Puerto Rican dishes and those same dishes have a familiar feeling to my Filipino palate. When I visited, I opted for the Chicharron plate over yellow rice. The Filipino version of this dish is called Lechon Kawali. What is it? It's a carnivore's dream, a deep fried slab of uncured bacon. Repeat, deep fried pork belly. Other than foie gras or bone marrow nothing comes close to meat fat decadence than this stuff. It's bad for you but oh soooo good. The garlic sauce tries to cut through the fat but it's a losing game. There's a tiny bar next to the cafeteria style take out displays. There's also extra dining space and bathrooms up a small set of stairs. It's comfortable and clean in there. I liked the vibe. I'll definitely be back. I'm not getting the Chicharron next time, however good it is. I think people my age should only be allowed to have it once a year. If that dish is any indication, there are several items on their menu that will also satisfy.

Mi Bandera Peruvian Restaurant

It was amazing. The waitress seemed friendly, and cool. I told her I am deaf, and she was okay with that. We still communicated just fine. I want to come back there even I live one hour, and about 15 minutes from there! It would be a worthwhile trip!

Words that come to mind for me regarding Mi Bandera would be informal, friendly, authentic. I'm…read morepretty sure it's a family run restaurant, as I could hear children in the back of the building. The menu features all the different types of cuisine you would expect in a Peruvian restaurant: Peruvian/Hispanic, stir-fries, and pasta dishes. Fish also features very heavily on the menu, which of course means many ceviche options too. We started with roasted corn nuts brought to our table, followed by beverages of limeade and purple corn beverage which was mildly sweet with cinnamon added. Our entrees were fairly simple, a beef stir-fry with fried rice, and grilled chicken on french fries with rice and salad. These came out quickly. The portions were more than adequate, and my simple side salad was better than similar side salads I've gotten at fancier restaurants. Small bottles of yellow and red sauces are provided to spice up your meal: yellow for fairly spicy, and red for REALLY spicy. For me, the yellow sauce was perfect for my chicken and my rice. Meals here seem like dishes you would have visiting family and friends in Peru, and I would not be surprised if Mi Bandera already has a loyal set of customers they would consider family and friends.
