The owner is very nice. I ordered jollof rice and suya. My friend ordered suya and vita malt. I came at 12pm and the owner gave me free jollof rice from the day before because the rice wasn't ready yet. It's my first time trying Nigerian food. The suya was delicious and the portion for the jollof rice was huge. I would come back again for the suya. The place seems rundown and dirty. Not a great place to dine in, but perfect for to-go. The beef suya here slaps!!! You can get 4 for $5 or 8 for $10. I can't get enough of it. I also grab the hen from here. It's a decent sized portion and comes with a good amount of spice. As a Nigerian, I'm a big fan of spicy food. And this place gets it just right. The hen is $10. You can get a lot of meat here without breaking the bank. Definitely try this spot out. read more

Decided to check out 'Sabo Suya Spot' and compare it to Suya Hut, which IMO, is King of Suya in Houston. Value at this place, kills Suya Hut. Suya Hut's beef Suya is $1.39 per stick. At Sabo, you pay either 4 for $5, or 8 for $10, which comes out to $1.12 a stick cheaper than Suya Hut . Besides that, the portion at Sabo is quite a bit more generous than at Suya Hut. I also ordered Joloff rice, topped with ram Suya for $7. The jolof rice was probably a tad better than Suya Hut's. I just wish it also came with plantains. But for $7, can't complain. The ram was pretty dang spicy, but still good. As far as the beef Suya goes, I'm not quite ready to take the crown from Suya Hut', but Sabo's Suya is definitely some of the best I've had besides Suya Hut. They also give you onions and tomatoes with your order. Suya Hut still has an edge because of the signature maranaid flavor, and grilled taste. For those that prefer what's termed as the more 'authentic naija suya', Sabo's is excellent. I never dine-in at Suya Hut, so that's not something I care about, but Sabo is pretty much on par with Suya Hut, neither being anything special as far as dine in experience goes. Suya Hut might have a more broad selection as far as the menu goes, if you want something besides Suya, and Jolof rice. Additionally, as far as I can tell, Sabo doesn't serve any unclean meats, like pork or shrimp. Overall though, I think Sabo has the edge over Suya Hut, because of the value, and overall satisfaction. read more

Another suya place to try! Not the nicest interior but very pleasant staff and a relaxed vibe to the place. Lots of Nigerians dining, which I took as a good sign as far as authenticity. Good food! Although, if you're not a fan of peanut butter like myself, avoid the Suya. The Suya is very good but does have a very strong taste of peanut butter that I could not get past. Came here with my sister. She claims the suya is great and better than Suya Hut so I thought, let me check it out. There was only 1 clerk handling all the orders. I thought it was interesting that she remembered everyone's order without writing it down. Prior to ordering, I asked if the meat is halal meat. She said yes. (Disclaimer: I'm not Muslim but I asked because halal meat is likely a bit better than your conventional farm factory meat. I know no one there will likely know such details as who the farmer is, how the animals were fed and finished, no use of hormones or antibiotics, free range, etc). I ordered the beef suya, 10 sticks. When I got home, I realized it was more than 10 sticks. The seasoning and flavor is pretty good. Spicy but too spicy (bare in mind my tongue is acclimated for spicy food all day everyday). From the looks of it, this establishment was designed as a club or lounge or some sort of live entertainment bar. It has a stage, bar, and 2 doors to pass through before entering. It's very spacious and just a few tables and chairs here and there. I don't know the future vision of Sabo Suya Spot, but it appears this business is solely used for its kitchen purposes and to order takeaway and catered food. Ordered the beef suya, chicken gizzard suya, and jollof rice via UberEats. My order came ahead of schedule and was piping hot. The beef suya was tender, spicy, and peanutty. So delicious! The chicken gizzard suya tasted similar but of course it was chewier because that's how gizzards are. I was really happy they had that because it's tough to find places that serve gizzards. Finally, the jollof rice was a pleasant surprise. First of all, the portions are massive and $5 of rice can easily feed 2-4 people depending on their appetites. But also it tasted amazing! Always smiling, always patient, always accommodating of guests' wants. His samples and portions are generous. He is only too happy to explain what you are eating. He even has Nigerian-slang names for his signature dishes such as: "Old boy, na wa oo" (spicy grilled whole hen), "On point" (spicy black eyed peas), and so forth. Oh, did I mention that every dish is SPICY? As in, SPICY HOT? No alcohol is served, so bring your own. Once the restaurant opens, it gets busy in a heartbeat. Meals and drinks are very inexpensive. Th Jollof rice is inexpensive and super delicious. The beef suya was fine but It doesn't compare to Moh's place suya, which is still the closest taste to proper Nigerian suya I've had in Houston. However, Sabo suya spot's menu item is cheaper. Notwithstanding, I think Sabo suya spot is a place to check out. The lady who took orders was very courteous. I think they also give suya samples to taste but I wasn't aware and didn't explore that option. I'll definitely be visiting again to try other items on their menu. My friend and I went here to order jollof rice and ram, i must add i was very skeptical of whether or not the food would be good..once the food was prepared and served it was yummy! My only problem was the girls taking the orders, they both have rude attitudes and have no knowledge of the food! She seemed annoyed when my friend asked her about different foods?
