Like Plymouth Rock or the Gateway Arch, it represents the beginning of greatness in the now fourth largest city in the United States. The authorities can't bear to bring it down nor should they. It's our history. Lives. It sits there in the shadow of the current Houston football stadium just like a withering parent sits watching his or her son or daughter dominate their industry. It was the birth of greatness in sports. Born in 1965, it represented everything right with the City of Houston. Forward thinking. Innovative. Air Conditioned. It set the tone for what the city would thrive on for the next half century and beyond. She hasn't seen a competitive athletic event or meaningful show in 20 years. As technology moved forward, much like our aging parents stuck to landlines and paper bills in the mail, she didn't want to let go of her old-world charm. To the point where, it just was what it was. Now we must let her reign over our city in her authority. We owe too much. It was home to Houston's sports teams: The Houston Astros. The Houston Oilers. The Houston Gamblers. The Houston Cougars. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The people and historic events the Astrodome witnessed is a who's who of 20th Century American culture. Muhammed Ali. Elvis Presley. Michael Jordan. Hank Aaron. From watching the Oilers, Astros, circus and the stock show it was an awesome place for a kid. A story came across my phone talking about what will become of that event center. Says there will be an event center there, hotel, and the common ideas people have for a place like that. It's to bad it can't be converted into a new wonder of the world. My idea would be the largest green house/lab in the world that college ag programs could get a use of as well as providing essential supply and knowledge for our farms. It can be used to manufacture seed for farms, fertilizer, etc. Also rains a lot in Houston so It could have indoor and outdoor fish farms. It really could be a viable resource build for our countries food security as well as for the ag students and studies for tomorrows generation. Well at the end, I'm glad it's staying up right and not turning into a land fill of boxes and forgot storage.

I came here to watch the famous Friday Night Lights Texas high school football and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was pretty chill and the concession stand was busy but efficient. They don't allow outside food or drink so make sure to grab your wallet when you leave the house/truck and yes with Texas heat make sure you have had plenty of hydration so as not to faint. I had a great time and the presence of law enforcement team really made it feel like a safe place to bring friends and family. Tickets were $11 and up in price from last year but so is inflation. Deal with it.

Rookie mistake our first year using ride share. Leaving the event it's a good 20 minute walk to the ride share area and then it can be up to 2 hours to obtain a ride. This year the tent was smaller as compared to previous years but it was a 5-star event. The open bar was flowing with good pours. There was a large iced tub for water, soda, and fizzy drinks. As usual, the BBQ was excellent and we liked that it was available the entire time. The tender pork and sides were a Fav at our table. There was live music a solo CW artist first then the Kings of Neon were the headliners. They were fun and played upbeat covers that got the crowd dancing. This is a fun event and it is cool to check out all the tents, rides , and food options. I swear they are frying everything now at these events!

There is a massive amount of seating across multiple levels, plenty of concession stands, and parking options all around the venue. Parking is not free and can be expensive. I would recommend using Uber, Lyft, or a taxi if possible, since parking fills up quickly for events. During halftime, concession lines were long as expected, but they moved fairly fast. We had great seats and were able to see the fireworks clearly, which was a nice bonus. That said, the seating is fairly tight, so personal space can be limited. One important heads up is to be mindful of seat placement. The sun was beaming directly down on us, and it was extremely hot. Overall, visiting this stadium was an enjoyable experience, even for someone who does not care much for football.

Lots of police presence 5/5, several food vendors, great DJ, expensive merch that was flying, Photo Booth, and large tidy restroom. 5/5 Multiple rodeo announcers including Acynthia Villery featured on Great Day Houston, announcer trailblazer, cultural ambassador for Black rodeo life. Inducted into the Black Cowboy Museum Hall of Fame and 2 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards. Ladies Barrel racing, bulldogging aka steer wrestling created by Bill Picket, bull and horse riding.
